I had a sneaking suspicion about them doing NCT's Boss because in multiple octopus hat videos you could hear it playing in the background. I know JYP's Seobin's vid was one, but I can't remember the other(s).

I'm about 70% of the way through watching the Jima fancam videos, and the more I more I watch, the more I wonder why Kim Mingyu didn't end up in X rank. It's not as noticeable in his own fancam but when you watch the others around him (I just finished Around Us's Choi Sihyuk), the more "off" he appears. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and he's one I'm rooting for, but he's pretty weak at dancing. Part of me wonders if he was injured during filming. I thought I may have seen him grimace when they had to go to the floor, but that could just be his concentration face.

Suhwan is so good. Hands down the best dancer this season. The talent jumped out.
I completely agree. He is so talented. It's a shame he's not very popular, currently. I guess that's the downfall of being an independent trainee and not from a company.

Is it just me or did this batch have more trainees than usual in it?

I'm sorry for saying you are not pretty

I want to buy it now but I'm broke

I like that it has a modern feel to it. Sophisticated. I also like that it looks pretty sturdy. I always liked the Nuble bong cause it was so pretty, but it also looked like it could break if you shook it too hard... and I'm terribly clumsy and constantly breaking things.
The problem, though, is that they virtually made it impossible for intl fans to purchase the lightstick because the didn't include it on the intl site.
I was like, "Please, Pledis, take my money!", but I was ignored. I suppose they'll go on a general sale after the concert, so I'll just have to wait. -
I thought I was going to have a hard time picking a top 11/12 or however many there will end up being, but it was actually easier than I expected. So, I take back everything I said before. I have a pretty solid top 2 that will probably stay in my top picks and 9 other "favorites". I can't guarantee it'll stay that way, but at least it's a start. I've got about 30 or so that I'm keeping an eye on.
My favorites currently are Choi Suhwan and Kim Mingyu. I think, with both of them, I really like their smiles. It's very captivating. With Suhwan, he can dance, sing, is adorably tiny, and reminds me of Woozi. I have a soft spot for the shorties, I guess. With Mingyu.... I may have more shallow reasons for liking him since I haven't seen his talents yet, but he has a very captivating personality. He really does have a beautiful smile.

Is Sunho the oldest trainee?

I really hope for the best for Jyunhao and Mahiro. I don't see them making the final group with everything so anti yg atm, but I hope they are edited fairly.... yeah I know, but how could you evil edit those two? They are such sweet boys, probably without a mean bone between the two of them. I keep my fingers crossed for them.

Happy Birthday Mashiho!!!!
I'm loving seeing all the post in the twitterverse for his birthday, especially with some of his older pictures / videos. It cracks me up that he literally looks exactly the same. Such a baby-face.

-
I'm impressed people are already able to put together top 11/12s. I'm still trying to learn names. I'm not sure if I want to make a favorite list before-hand or just wait it out and see how things turn out on the show. I'd hate to get super invested in someone pre-show and then they don't get any sort of edit.
When looking for people to watch for, I'm older, so just a pretty face isn't going to cut it for me. They need to have talent as well, which is hard to see in such short videos and photos, obviously. Of course, having charm and a good personality can be considered to be a talent, I suppose.
From the videos released so far, the ones that caught my eye were (in no particular order):
1st Batch
Peak (Chandelier Music)
Lee Hwan (DSP)
Ham Wonjin (Starship) (it was actually the pick me performance that he caught my eye)
2nd Batch
Lee Eunsang (BNM)
Hong Seonghyun (Urban Works)
Kwon Heejun (Cre.ker)
3rd Batch (hard to tell without any subtitles yet)
Heo Jinho (A.story) I don't know why, but the fox get-up did it for me
Lee Midam (AAP.Y)
Stephen Kim (DS)
I still think my favorite so far is Choi Suhwan whom no one is talking about, so his chances probably aren't great, but I still hope he does well.

Mahiro is going to be on Produce 101! I'm so excited for him! Now I wish internationals could vote 😢
Did they announce what company he is under?

It looks like Dongpyo made center! I knew he was getting quite a bit of attention from kneticens. I'm still a little surprised it wasn't a person from an already debuted group or someone from a bigger company. I'm happy for him! He seemed real cute/sweet in his video.
I wonder how much weight the producer's vote had in the overall decision.... I think it was only supposed to be one of the deciding factors for center.

I've modified the thread title since I saw posts requesting we do so, and I think that's a good point. I'm kind of crap at thread titles, but hopefully it's better.
I also saw a user suggest we make another thread solely for users to discuss what they would like to see change wise in regards to this proposed rule as well as for the site in general, and I think that is definitely something we need to, and will do.
Sincerely, thank you, Pineapple. I know I'm not the only one who appreciates your feedback. It feels like at least someone is listening to our concerns.
-
In regards to the two apologies written by Pineapple and Darkchao, Pineapple's was miles more apologetic. Pineapple's apology showed a lot of maturity and was well-worded. I really appreciate it, even though they weren't the one that caused the initial grievance.
Darkchao's apology, however, was everything that I said shouldn't have happened in an apology. It was terribly insincere and again made claims that his post was being misinterpreted. I am shocked that his being from South Florida was used as evidence that he couldn't be homophobic. I'm from Texas. The amount of times people assume/accuse everyone from Texas is a racist just because of where they are from is innumerable. Obviously, where you come from doesn't mean you are automatically an archetype of the stereotypical people from your location. I'm dissapointed that that is probably as good as we are going to get from him. I don't want to sit here and say that he is homophobic, but I will say that his post and how he is handling everything is quite ignorant and lacking maturity.
-
I appreciate that there has been an update on the situation. I also appreciate that this announcement was much better worded than the /first announcement made by Darkchao. Whether or not I'm happy with the final decision on the matter is not important atm. Many people have already spoken how I feel about the added rules to the site.
However, I do not like the fact that the admin/mods of this site are trying to turn things around and play the victims in this whole situation. I don't see how we could have possibly misinterpreted what he was saying. He literally called the people who are involved in that thread "creepy". He also belittled the conversations and discussions that have happened in that thread stating "Its not like there is an educated discussion on the nature of homosexuality, what it means, what it is, how its seen, etc. Its just gossip here." He obviously had no idea what type of discussions were actually happening in that thread and made assumptions.
Rather than throwing up defenses, there needs to be an actual apology, specifically from Darkchao. Not an apology of, "Oh, I'm sorry you all misunderstood me." That is not an apology. That is, once again, throwing the blame back onto the users of this site. Just own up to the fact that the post was a mistake. Administrators are supposed to be mature and fair in the face of conflict. It takes a lot of maturity to own up when you've made a mistake. Just apologize.
Edit: By the time I had typed this up, 2 admins had made a statement. I have more to say, but I'll add it real-time.

It's nice to know that the mods in the ask a mod thread would rather talk about anime than reply to my post.

Here's what I posted (in response to Darkchao45)
Darkchao45, on 16 Mar 2019 - 2:03 PM, said:

Gee, I wonder? You only called us all the equivalent of crazy tabloid speculators spinning fantasies and implied that we were victimizing minors by talking about them in an LGBT friendly space.
We've heard this kind of BS from trolls in the thread for years, and from acquaintances and relatives who push this heteronormative BS in real life as well. You clearly do not read the thread and are making a blanket assumption based on years of misrepresentation of what the thread contains and is about. Also, to top off how silly and embarrassing this all is, the 2 idols mentioned that began the debate weren't even minors.
You can say this is some sudden response to years of complaints you've been putting off about minors in the thread, but I know that isn't true. I and many others have complained for years about people breaking the thread rules, harassing users, going off topic, etc, and nothing has been done about it. The very best we get is a mod coming in, deleting everything (except the offending posts, usually) and then leaving like nothing happened. We're treated like an embarrassment that you guys barely even want to acknowledge exists.
And people aren't that upset because you're trying to tone down discussion of minors, they're upset because this is, whether intentional or not, a misrepresentation of what is discussed in the thread and chillingly reminiscent of homophobic stereotypes that suggest that gays, especially gay men, are all pedophiles and only ever care about sex. We've had years of double standards of other threads speculating about the sexualities of supposed heterosexual idols (minors included) and never heard a peep from you guys. Your comment about the offensiveness of "pushing labels" is also a joke, because again, discussion of supposed heterosexual idols never provokes those kinds of responses. The thread has always been meant to be a safe space for LGBT kpop fans and unlike what your comment suggests, does contain years of people sharing their experiences and stories. We kind of had to make it that after you guys kept redirecting or merging ANY gay content on the site into the thread.
This was a wrong move on your part.
I am absolutely APPALLED at what has happened in this thread. I have lurked here for a very long time, way before I even made an OH account, but I have never posted anything until now. During my entire time lurking, I have NEVER seen anything remotely sexual being discussed in regards to minors. As an asexual person myself, I'm completely turned off by over-sexual talk, so I definitely would have remembered / probably stopped visiting this page all-together if something like that has been discussed, minors or adults alike. I've been back-reading for hours now getting more and more worked up, but the post I quoted stated literally every point I had, so there's no point in stating it again. But that is exactly what has happened here. I'm not one to throw homophobia out there, but in this case, I can't think of anything else it could be. The double-standards are strong here.
And then for that admin to have the nerve to say that there isn't "an[y] educated discussion on the nature of homosexuality, what it means, what it is, how its seen, etc" in this thread.... They obviously haven't spent any time on this thread at all to know what actually goes on here. I should probably stop now before I say something I'll regret.

Soohwan reminds me of Woozi and I don't know why
I literally wrote that in the notes I was taking. It's probably because he has a smol but could actually kill you vibe to him, like Woozi. He's my favorite so far.
I'm happy Dongpyo is getting Knetz attention. He has a cute, youthful vibe to him.
I was thinking, maybe it's the optimist in me, that, besides the biased effect that may come with the producers getting to vote on the first center, there may be some good to come out of seeing the A ranks ahead of time. The 15 A ranked trainees were introduced first and had a spotlight on them before the other trainees have been announced. That way, more eyes are on the individuals with talent which may give them a leg up once the show officially starts and suddenly visuals and edit come into play. I watched produce 2 after the show was completed, so I didn't go in-depth with analyzing each individual , but there were some A ranks that hardly had any edit and I still don't know who they are.

The song is SO good! It went above and beyond my expectations. I sat there sobbing and I didn't even have the translations yet. What a great gift for Loves on their 7th Anniversary.

I'd like to join in the discussion!
I actually liked the song to begin with...
I'm interested in hearing the entire thing. The choreo though, I wasn't in love with it. I didn't know any of the trainees before hand. I knew the names of the groups, like Victon, but not the individual members, so I tried to look at everything with fresh eyes.
My top two were Choi Suhwan, the independent trainee, and Lee Jinhyeok, from TOP Media and Up10tion. With Suhwan, besides the fact that he did great at the dancing and had good stage presence, I love how "tiny" he looked compared to the others. I've got a thing for the shorter members being in the center. Jinhyeok, I could definitely tell he had experience. He seemed very natural in his presentation.
I also really liked the Victon boys, Choi Byungchan and Han Seungwoo. Is it me, or do they kind of favor each other a little bit? Maybe it's the haircuts.
Honestly, they all did a great job. I didn't see any major gaps in talent. My least favorite, which isn't really saying much, is actually one that a lot of people have mentioned as their favorite. I was a bit surprised, but I'm interested in having him grow on me.
I'm actually kind of glad Int. can't vote, so I, won't have to stress about having to choose as I already want all of them to make it....... -
I can't tell you how happy I am to see them out and about and enjoying themselves. I'm so curious as to why they are in Bali. I suppose there aren't any details out about their schedule.

I'm so furious about this! Not just because several of my favorites are in that group, but because the problem was out of the trainee's control. It's not their fault Yubin had a faulty microphone. How petty they must be to treat that team like that. So disappointed....
