  1. There are five major fads in Korea which were not too relevant outside of it since 2010. Good Day - IU (IU did not become relevant to i-fans until 2018) BBaBBaBBa - Crayon Pop, 2013 Up Down - Exid, 2014 Me Gustas Tu/Rough - GFriend, 2015 Rollin - Brave Girs, 2021 IU and Crayon Pop never really made strong impression to i-fans. (IU's later overseas popularity is another story.) Exid and GFriend received some foreign coverage, although not enough to extend the lives of these groups. But, it seems the i-fans successfully defended KPop from Brave Girls, since I don't see too many non-Korean comments in Rollin videos, the highest view about 31M(where comments are not allowed to). Similar to Ateez' video, 3 months old and 31M views. After the trot craze in Korea on 2019-2020, i-fans have learned that whatever is the fad in Korea has nothing to do with their tastes, and have learned to relegate domestic feds in Korea into a league of their own. BG will release a new album later this month. However, it will probably be irrelevant to international fans. Unlike Exid and GFriend, who caught some foreign attention, the now well informed i-fans will just consider them in the same league with the trottists. I have to say kudos. It took 10 years for the i fans to discern that not everything in Korea is relevant to KPop, and now they have learned to ignore a group floated by disenfranchised Korean men of 25-30 who thought they were making some difference, since their songs are not really geared toward i-fans.
  2. At least $9-10 mil from her activities, not counting appreciation on her real estate holdings.
  3. Given what happened to GFriend, Hybe would have disbanded most of SM's older acts, and would only have kept NCT Dream and aespa.
  4. Last year I wrote this While BTS dominates the world, since Lee Jieun effectively owns Edam Entertainment (she owns 60% of it through proxies), she is a company owner. So https://www.allkpop.com/article/2021/06/btss-rm-and-jimin-revealed-to-have-bought-the-most-expensive-apartments-in-korea RM's House $5.7 million Jimin's House $5.3 million https://www.koreaboo.com/news/iu-luxury-apartment-purchase-new/ IU's House $11.7 million more expensive than the houses of RM and Jimin combined ==== It pays to be the owner of a company. Even though IU is much less popular around the world than BTS, the Effective Owner of Edam Entertainment gets to keep virtually all of her earnings for herself, so she lives in a house twice(pun intended) as expensive as a member of BTS's. (All three paid cash to their purchases, which means the Effective owner of Edam Entertainment can raise twice as much cash as a BTS member!).
  5. Yerin is a friend too, but none of them welcomed her presence so she stayed out
  6. The acts treat GFriend as if they do not exist. GFriend's Yerin, who was a friend of RV's Joy and also knew some TW members, stands put because she knows she is not welcome there. Yes.The big ifandoms successfully throttled BG's explosion, by simply ignoring it.
  7. GFriend's rise and fall was like a KPop drama from the beginning to the end. GFriend came from the gutter, but because of the famous falling incident (which will probably be GFriend's only legacy in the end), it rose to the highest echelon of KPop. At the end of 2015, it was in a show with Lovelyz, which was part of SM at that time, and Twice. In other words, before "Rough" it was in the same league with a premier JYP act and an SM act. But, after its height in 2016, it remained in the top rung but at the end of 2020 it was in a show with a bunch of people, Gidle, OhMyGirl, Wekimeki, April, Momoland and , lo and behold, Lovelyz whom theh had left behind on 2015, 5 years ago! The whole story runs like a typical KDrama of the older days, where a poor girl, fighting for the attention of a handsome (and most likely rich) man against a rich girl. By a bunch of tricks and all that the poor girl defeats the rich girl and ends up next to the man. However, if the series does not end there, the poor girl's past and a bunch of skeletons are discovered, and after a lot of struggle where the poor girl desperately try to hold on to her position, she is cast out to the wilderness and the show usually ends there. With Korea's society become more stratified, fewer of such genre are filmed. The numbers of Cinderellas in KDramas have plummeted significantly since the world of the richer man and the poorer girl are so distant that there is simply no mixing. Not surprisingly, the end of GFriend came when the opportunity to rise from the bottom has closed forever. Some people might cite the example of Brave Girls, but most KPop acts and companies do not seem to lose a lot of sleep over it. It is just a phenomenon, popular among some Korean men but not really significant outside of Korea. Brave Girls is mentioned by few KPop figures, and BG does not hang around with KPop figures. Because they belong to a league of their own, away from KPop. at the height of Gfriend, it associated with the major groups from big companies. However, as seen in IU's Golden Disk perf video, the acts from the three major companies shun GFriend and treat as if it does not exist at early 2018. Just as GF was eventually shunned by KPop's major acts in the end, Brave Girls exists in its own bubble, where it is expected to remain, and no amount of domestic success is likely to make it truly a major act since foreign recognition won't be forthcoming for it.
  8. Making Joohyun the leader means Yoon Sangah will order the members around, and alienate the PD48 people. As always Cube always makes the worst decision conceivable.
  9. Murashige got into some trouble so that's the role they gave her.
  10. I think Woolim will send Juri back for "Health Issues" and cut her, like Takeuchi Miyu.
  11. Two words: Takeuchi Miyu It is likely that even after Miyawaki Sakura graduates, she will probably join Hybe Japan and only show up in Korea once in a while. Nako is happy to be back in Japan. Korea is still kinda xenophobic and there are still unsaid hostility toward the Japanese, which became more apparent after the trot craze.
  12. The Takeuchi Miyu case shows it is NOT a suspicion . I think in the next promo Juri will return to Japan and Kim Chaewon will be added.
  13. IU released exactly one experimental song after the Zeze debacle, BBiBBi, a digital single which is not subject to album sales. And BBiBBi is (and probably will be, without songs featuring other famous singers like GDragon or Suga) the only IU song to exceed 200 mil views. Read: The i-fans valued IU's one and only experiment after being somewhat relevant to the world more than all of her run-on-the-mill songs.
  14. Lee Jieun tried the Chatshire album, probably her most experimental, and was chewed to the high heaven and she returned with "Through the Night" in 2017, a generic k-ballad. Only she could go that far because she had an artistic freedom not allowed to most Kpop acts, and even she is now playing safe
  15. He is right, since the style of the Senior Singer is so strange that she is NOT the representative of Korean vocals.
  16. Justin Bieber finally dislodged Rollin from #1 in Melon's 24hit and daily charts on May 17, 2021. And as of now, he is holding on to these positions in K-O-R-E-A. So if it goes like this BTS' Butter might lose to Justin Bieber's Peaches only in K-O-R-E-A. Although, now Justin Bieber is part of Hybe, Mr. Bang will smile either way. (This post is unusually short for a post of mine since I have said everything what I have to say. And, as for the Senior Singer, she is now recommending OhMyGirl's new song.)
  17. Nothing will come out on May 22nd. It will be a quiet departure. Yerin already has another job as a presenter in a beauty show. When those who are shy and quiet get angry, they REALLY get ANGRY. Especially in Asian society where showing emotions are discouraged.
  18. This will be my last post on this thread. Only 3 members thanked Source Music (Yerin, SinB and Umji) 3 members did not thank Source Music (Sowon, Eunha and Yuju) and no one thanked the ex-owner of Source, So Sungjin, or anyone in Hybe.
  19. It is very important to see that only Yerin, SInB and Umji thanked Source Music (and nobody to the ex-Source owner or anyone in HYBE). Sowon, Eunha and Yuju CANNOT hide their anger on this
  20. Lee Jongsuk is likely to be the male lead Director is the person who directed Hotel Del Luna.
  21. Most likely Iggy and Yongbae, its composers until 2017, and Kim Sangbong DDS, better known as Umji's father.
