  1. It also showed Eunha, Hitman Bang's pick who is the center of GFrend, was lip synching. Eunha and Yuju cannot coexist.
  2. Undermining KPop from inside. It is not an easy battle so it will last for years, but by doing that for years, she is weakening KPop; in fact, if BTS did not come forth, the reclamation of KPop by the Old Order would have been complete as Kpop had hit its nadir on early 2016.
  3. Yes, we will see. However, since there is no demand on her albums or songs in North America, and her company (who is basically herself) is not willing to spend money to show stockholders that the company's artist did a world tour, it will most likely be a showcase.
  4. Her entire career since she became the Senior Singer in 2014 is releasing more sleepy, experimental and soul searching songs which are far from what the KPop fans of the world wanted.Because she had been there for so long, and her dramas got international exposure, she got some fans in the southeast asia although she willl probably never hold a concert in North America.
  5. I discussed the reason in another place. tl, dr, it led KPop to an unnecessary soul searching, sapping its energy. It also fatally weakened the second generation of KPop. Without Good Day, 1/4 of all songs played in the West would be KPop songs. IU, basically saved the Western Pop culture from its greatest crisis since I think the Turkish invasion of Vienna in 1683 (if the Turks won Vienna would have been sacked beyond recovery, the Habsburgs would have lost all legitimacy and replaced by some other dynasty, and no Mozart and no Viennese music.).
  6. MAMA did not want to give a Grand Prize to IU so they gave two Grand Prizes to Exo, and also gave IU the Lifetime Achievement Award, when she was 21. That made her a senior singer of KPop, so she gets to use her seniority over the rest of the KPop acts since then.
  7. Yes, that was KPop fan Park Geunhye, who was ousted out of office not long after she said it. The currnt prez and his minions are only concerned sucking up to the fat dude in the north, and they tried to make BTS perform at Pyongyang in front of the fatty and his wife.
  8. The tale of Galleo Galilei is well known. However, the name of his chief expert witness/adversary is not well known. Jesuit priest Christoph Klau from Bavaria, also known as Christopher Clavius, was the leading astronomer of the day. He is also known in China as the teacher of Matteo Ricci, the priest who brought modern astronomy to China in early 17th century. Long story short, Klau was instrumenal fo reaching a compromise; while leaning toward the opinion of Vatican, he arranged things in such way so Galileo would not be burnt at the stake, like Giordano Bruno in 1600. For his troubles, his latin name Clavius was given to a large crater in the moon, visible to naked eye. Galileo was later given an insignificant crater doesn't have any redeeming qualities; Klau, being near the establishment, got to laugh last since his bigger crater is expected to last for much longer than Galileo's tiny one. == KPop in the 2010s was a constant struggle between the old codgers who wanted KPop dead, and the KPoppers who wanted to expand to the world. As late as 2017, the codgers were dominant over KPoppists, although BTS has upset the scale for now. By an accident of history in 2014, someone who has wanted to destroy KPop, even now, had become a senior singer of KPop, putting her above everyone else in status. Even now, her power, combined with her desire to destroy KPop, has only grown like an overgrown tree covng the forest so nothing new can grow. She has actually climbed up to the top female act position of 2019, once again threatening BTS. Like the book series Borrowers (also known as the Secret World of Arriety, a Hayao Miyazaki animation), where the tiny humans (representing the Londoners who had to move around for search of an abode) suffer forever since they always have to live under fear that humans would catch them, The KPop acts have to live under fear that the K-O-R-E-A-N-S could put them underground anytme. This year the Song Gain trot craziness almost destroyed KPop, combined with all these scandals and tragedies, and the 55,000 people flockin to the concert of the subject of this thread means the old codgers (including Kpop's youngest senior singer) have not given up their dreams of recovering their power in KPop and drive the Kpopers to the underground again.
  9. Because Iu has been the biggest obstacle against Kpop completely conquering the world. Her very existence changed Kpop a lot by emphasizing vocals.
  10. Yes, BTS is that powerful enough to blast through 8 senior singers who have been there forever.

  12. That is true. IU's position has actually strengthened relatively because of this, since she is one of the most blatant victims of MNet (her 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award from MAMA, when she was 21, is still remembered and will do so for a long time.)
  13. The right thing for CJ(Mnet is a part of CJ) to do is apologize and compensate the people involved in the Produce series, and release the singers bound by contracts However, there are quite a lot of interests involved, and once a party is compensated, everyone will want a share. Being a mean and ruthless K-O-R-E-A-N company, (there are a lot of ugly stories involving CJ,which used to be part of Samsung but there was an ugly split) CJ will admit no wrong, and most likely will 'suspend' IZone and X1's activities 'until the court decides'. Korean courts do not work fast, and since a lot of parties are involved, the first round of the judicial process will last for about 9 months at the earliest. That's next August. And, in Korea, it is kind of customary for everyone to appeal. That can last for an unknown time. It is quite common for an appeal to last for years, which is why people without deep pockets tend to try to avoid the court system. Plus, unlike most countries, it is not the end of story for Korea. If either party does not like the outcome of the appeals court, the case goes to the Supreme Court. Unlike the Supreme courts of most countries, Korea's SC hears every single case which is presented, whether it is murder, scam or other minor stuff. Not surprisingly the court picks and chooses what it deems to prioritize, and cases like the Produce series are not considered to have priority. So, at the earliest it will take about 2 years to finish the case, and at worst 3-4 years. By that time, Izone would have long disbanded, and even if X1 lasts till then, some members will have to enter the military. Of course, the companies involved in this won't stay still and let their singers rot. Those who are not involved in the rigging will probably get their singers out from these groups, which will probably collapse at that point of time.
  14. It was the #1 song in the Gallup Polls, which is the most important thing https://ygdreamers.com/2018/12/18/news-gallup-korea-blackpink-among-the-favorite-singers-of-2018-voted-by-koreans-ddu-du-ddu-du-as-most-favorite-song/
  15. Until a month ago, the act which had the biggest concert in Korea, which is not as concert friendly as Japan, was Big Bang, which had a concert at the Sang'am soccer stadium which drew 71,000 people. But it was a one day event. Usually, when people have concerts at the Chamshil Olympic Stadium (the biggest in Korea, although since it was built in 1984 it is now a bit inefficient) the cap was about 35,000 since not all of the space was used. So even a 2 day concerts at there meant 70,000. This time, on 2019 BTS had a concert at the Chamshil Olympic Stadium for 3 days, and the capacity was 45,000. Which means 135,000 people saw the concert, which is the biggest in the history of Korea. ========== Unlike males, females draw less number of people in Korea. To the best of my knowledge, no female act has done more than 2 days in the Gymanstics Arena, aka KSPO Dome, in the entire history of Korea. SNSD had 2 days of concert at the Gymnastics in 2011, 2013 and 2015, the last being the biggest. In the last concert at the Gymnastics on 2015, it drew about 22,000, which still is the biggest concert a female act drew in the history of Korea. But, on 2016 the Gymnastics Arena was remodeled to be used exclusively as a Kpop venue. Its capacity was expanded to 14,500, although in most cases only 11,000 is used. When it was finished on 2018, BlackPink became the first female act of the 3rd generation to have a concert at there. However, that event, sponsored by a credit card company, is said to be way less than full, a lot of the people there admitted free because they had the sponsor's credit card. And, on 2019, instead of all these Kpop acts the world loves and cherishes, a senior singer , who will use all 14,500 seats, will become the Female singer who drew the most number of people in the history of Korea. And, she increasingly sings the kind of songs which would have been popular about 20 or 30 years ago. The age of the certain singer should not mislead the people - although the singer I am talking about is actually younger than Jin and Suga of BTS, she debuted way earlier (in 2008), belongs to the Second Generation of the KPop era and was certified as a Senior Singer by Mama when it gave her the Lifetime Achievement Award on 2014. In a sense, the Senior Singer, who would already have had 4 concerts in 3 Korean cities before for about 30,000 people, being able to draw 29,000 more is kinda remarkable, since when SNSD had the 22,000 people in its 2015 concerts, it didn't have other events in Korea. But , I don't think the international fans will ever understand why Koreans will not pay a lot of money to see the internationally popular girl groups but 59,000 people will gladly pay $100+ to watch a concert of a Senior Singer of KPop.
  16. Korean companies have subsidiaries in other countries, too, and they can make someone's life as hell in there as well. Rich people follow those who offended them to the ends of the earth, even if the cost outweighs the benefits, because they hurt the rich's ego.
  17. Not easy for an actress. The only country which might accept her is China which is now trying to not use Koreans.
  18. Suing CJ means she will be excluded from all tvn, Ocn and other gaggle of cable channels CJ owns, and it will also affect other actresses in her crappy agency, so it won't be encouraged.
  19. Right, some things never change, especially when KPop's Senior Singer is outdoing acts which came way later than her.
  20. Which is why the reactions from those not affiliated with the CJ empire were so heavy.
  21. I wrote about IZone vs IU a few times in several places, and did not expect the fight to end without even a shot being fired. I wanted to see Nako teaching a lesson to Kpop's Senior Singer, but it is Nako who is leaving the stage, not Kpop's most reactionary singer. It has become certain that the first female singer to enter Gochuck (there were a couple foreign singers, Katy Perry and Ariana Grande, who performed at there but they were there for one day, sponsored by Hyundai) is IU. I really wanted someone else, probably BlackPink and IZone, to beat her but YG has other problems and now IZOne's future is in serious doubt. Twice never acts first - JYP has a tendency to follow someone so until someone does Gochuck Twice won't do it. That means IU will most likely to be the first to do a concert at the Gochuck next year, cementing the Senior Singer's status as the primary female singer of KPop, although she didn't contribute anything to it until last year. newer crops grow but wither, and someone who debuted on 2008 and became a Senior Singer on 2014 is beating everyone and has raised herself to the same level of some major male groups. Soon she will be fighting against those who were not born when she sang Good Day, but given the way things are going, she might outlast them as well
  22. She maintained herself well, considering that she is a Senior Singer.
  23. Remember that MAMA gave the Lifetime Achievement Award to then 21 years old IU? It is all big show. Of course IZOne and X1 will attend there.
  24. I don't really follow MC Mong so I have nothing to say on that issue
