  1. But are they winning duels against the newer generations?
  2. In KPop, someone outliving his or her generation is unknown. Occasionally such people have one hit much later after their peak, but IU is the first in the history of Korean Pop who gets to outlive her generation significantly and still regularly beats acts from 3rd and now 4th generations.
  3. The Last Survivor of the 2nd Generation of Kpop during the Tang Dynasty, about 1320 years ago
  4. Granted, there is one last remaining member of 2nd Generation which is still relevant today. However, the last remaining member of the 2nd Gen already outlived IZOne, Gfriend and Lovelyz, and probably many more. The 1,340 years old singer has outlived quite a lot of acts, but it is likely that she might even outlive the 4th Generation of Kpop, but let's not push ahead of that. How do you think about the 2nd Generation outliving the 3rd Generation? Do you feel sad, angry or resigned about it? It is nothing short of irony that the singer, when younger , had menaced the 2nd Generation like hell and looks like she will also outlive the 3rd Generation. If that is not absurd I don't know what is.
  5. It is sad the 3rd Gen ends while a certain figure from the 2nd gen is still running around
  6. I don't know, but this says CKay did join Warner Music on October 2020 https://www.bellanaija.com/2020/11/ckay-warner-music-sa/
  7. Pippi(pronounced Bbibbi in Korean) Longstockings was a famous Swedish show about a girl who acted like a tomboy which aired in I think late 1960s. It made its way to Korea in I think early 1980s and was well known. It enjoyed some revival after someone said the character of Lisbeth Salander, the heroine of the late Stieg Larson's mystery books which were also popular in Korea, was modeled after Pippi, imaging how she would end up if she grows up in the modern world. The Salander character also influenced Lee Jian in My Mister, so someone must have told Lee Jieun who Pippi was although the Senior Singer was too young to know the show itself.
  8. Since 2007 there has been exactly one, uno, ein soloist who was a net positive to a company, Lee Jieun. Chungha did well at first but faded, and Ennik remains to be seen, but only Lee Jieun was entirely profitable (thought that eventually made her a company owner herself). (Trot singers like Lim Youngwoong are another story but not relevant here.)
  9. That is because they could not find anyone who would become members of a group after the first one. What did Bernard Park do after being selected? I don't remember a hit from him.
  10. Because, instead of the next boy and girl group members, it began to select more clones of Lee Jieun.
  11. Confucianism ruled Korea for a long time. As a result, the concept of filial duty , respecting the elders and all that are still somewhat ingrained in Korean culture, although not as high as before. Because of such concept, a parent can abandon a child but can show up at a fly to claim a portion of the child's property, like the mother of Goo Hara. KPop also faced the same question - the question about how treat their Senior Singers was a quandary for many years. Many Senior Singers had no chance to contribute to the advance of Kpop to the rest of the world, so they were largely sidelined. However, there was one, just one, Senior Singer who was able but chose not to contribute to Kpop's Worldwide Expansion but nevertheess the singers had to respect her on the accord that she was the Senior Singer. After many years of criticism she released her one Kpop song, and lo and behold, because she did contribute on,e, uno, una, ichi, ein KPop song,s she was considered to have contributed something to Kpop. I know it is unfair, but that is how the Korean culture works. One contribution but one is considered the same as many, on the accord that she is Senior. There are newer acts of KPop every year. How long they will have to pay Filial Duty to the Senior Singer who still released her new song in Korean is a question I have asked for many years but still not answered.
  12. She has grown too big to take risks. Her earlier b-sides had many experimental songs, but now she is watched around by the world as the chief adversary and the one person who could check BTS in Korea. But it appears she will try something different when she becomes 30 in Korean age next year. (Koreans count age from Jan 1, regardless of birthdays, so someone born in , say, Dec 29, 2000, becomes 23 on Jan 01, 2022, because the person lived through 23 calendar years. Which is why KPop singers, especially female, listen to IU's song 23 every Jan 1 when they reach that age.)
  13. Son Myung-gab was one of the recording engineers. BBiBBi was indeed composed by Mr. Lee Jonghoon, who also composed Strawberry Moon based upon a tune IU had hummed while filming a movie. Both songs were arranged by a Lee Chae-kyu.
  14. And both of them are chief rivals of BTS.
  15. She did Composed by IU and Lee Jonghoon (who produced Missing Child and BBIBBi and quite a few others).
  16. It was the most perfect comeback of SNSD< until Lee Jieun wrecked the party
  17. I wish someone passes a law prohibiting anyone to cover the Senior Singer's song so she won't be remembered by the future generations.
  18. aespa is about to bolt into world recognition. It is the first 4th generation act to do so in earnest (depends upon how you classify txt, enhypen, etc but ), and its heyday is very close. However, it will have to deal with a Senior Singer who comes back to discuss who should dominate KPop for the newer generation. Lee Jieun will release her song next week, and it will be strong enough to challenge aespa next Friday. ate t Will the 2nd Generation's last survivor once again frustrate the 4th Generation, or will the 4th Generation finally overcome the ghost of 2nd Generation? A lot of things are in stake 2 weeks from now.
  19. Every Kpop Act Is Useful to some degree An act like BTS is immensely useful An act from a smaller compay is limited in their use However Every act has its usefulness Although A certain act has an extremely infinitesimal amount of usefuness Propelling KPop for world domination. It is amazing KPop's Seniority is inversely related to its usefulness.
  20. Whenever I hear the story that IU is innocent, a certain picture immediately pops up in my mind
  21. I thought I was going to see the last of all kills of IU in Korea but that was not to be.
