  1. The Artist Museum on Twitter: "Most Awarded Musicians of 2021 https://t.co/THl32ECjaR" / Twitter BTS won 164 awards , exactly double of that of the runner up, The Weeknd. No one will probably have doubts about the first seven of the 9 most awarded artists of 2021, BTS, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Justin Bieber and Dua Ripa. However, the other two might question other pop fans. Megan Thee Stallion is only included because of a collaboration with BTS. And, the 9th , Lee Jieun, did not win a single award outside of Korea. Apparently, the compiler of this list , eager to increase BTS' number of awards received, included the Korean Awards. So, for the reasons of fairness, they had to count IU's 46 awards, every single one obtained from Korea, which made her #9 and one of the leading singers of the world, though she never released anything outside of Korea. The 10th, Anitta, is Brazilian and it is likely that most of her 45 awards were won in Brazil, although it is possible she might have won some Portuguese awards as well, making her at least a bit more international than IU. And Anitta, who is actually a couple months older than Lee Jieun, is signed to both Warner Music and Warner Brazil, while IU is signed with Edam Entertainment, which she effectively owns, but has no international clout to speak of. Given BTS is #1, the compilers of this list might have thought that IU , a Korean, might have been a better fit of the list of 9, apparently not being aware of her domesticity and her loooong history of undermining KPop whenever she could. Do you think BTS' Korean achievements should be ignored since it can skew the scale towards domesticists like IU who is strong inside Korea but not too much outside of it, or do you think everything should be included even though it might benefit a domesticist like Lee Jieun?
  2. It was a year of defeat snatched at the jaws of victory as Kpop's Senior Singer crept up from the dungeon to take over Kpop once again
  3. Yes, she is the epitome of the domestic Korean musical industry, since she has not really done anything in the overseas after 2013.
  4. Possibly since she has gotten into trouble into herself a few times
  5. IVE and Lee Jieun will clash on Sunday and IVE will learn whether it can beat KPop's Great Deadweight or it will learn a lesson from her.
  6. Yes it is her most famous picture. We will see. I hope that is the case, but the Senior Singer is known to have subjugated newer acts at will
  7. USSR dominated chess from about 1946 till about 1995, with a brief interlude called Bobby Fischer. A chap named Mikhail Botvinik, who was an engineer in trade, took the World Championship three times, 1948-1957, 1958-1960, and 1961-1963. As you can deduce from the years, what happened is whenever he lost the championship, the Party arranged a rematch to be held immediately, and because Botvinik was fairly high in the party rankings with strong sponsors on the Politburo, the contenders lost heart and were defeated. After doing that for two times, Botvinik lost to an Armenian on 1963 (at that time Armenia was part of USSR) at the age of 52, even the Party had enough of him and told him to retire, which he had to do. ==== IVE will fight Lee Jieun on Sunday. Although Starship is owned by KakaoM, IU has never had any control over it since because of some arrangement between the owner of Starship and Kakao, Starship is independent from any interference through Kakao. One of the IVE members was born after Wonder Girls had debuted, making her the first member of KPop born after the KPop era had begun. Ahn Yujin and Jang Wonyoung have learned the harshness of Lee Jieun because the Effective Owner of Edam Entertainment has been a wall to IZOne, in 2018, 2019 and 2020. IZOne surpassed IU, but only for very brief time. For all practical purpose Lee Jieun has been IZOne's nemesis, just as she as the Nemesis for SNSD, EXO and others too many to list here. Now, on Sunday, IVE goes to fight Lee Jieun. The youngest member, who probably does not really know who IU is and is possibly not aware of IU's most famous photograph since she was 5 when it was released, might have her first taste of Kpop's Senior Singer on Dec 12. Will IVE beat the Senior Singer and carve a spot on the list of major 4th Generation acts, or will the 1,340 plus old figure put a stop on IVE's trajectory? It remains to be seen.
  8. Starship really did a lot of work to disconnect the 2 members from the rest of IZOne, and only allowed to associate with Kim Minju, now an actress.
  9. I am just afraid of what will happen to Kpop after BTS begin their military services
  10. BTS' concert at the Sofi Stadium is a world news because it is the first major concert by an act after the Covid thing hit. Everyone in the world is impressed. Except one person. She did a dance for an anime song she sang on 2010, just before Good Day came out. Less than a month after she sang the theme song for the Korean dubbed version of the anime Yumeiro Patisserie, the singer who later became Senior to every other singer in Kpop released Good Day, which rewrote the laws of Kpop. It is clear she is not impressed at all by the world conquest of BTS, because she knows within 2 years , thanks to the males of Korea who would rather see BTS in the military, she will gain once-a-lifetime-chance to recapture the Throne of Kpop and lord over it once more time, reversing every gains of Kpop and making it go back to the bad old days. Despite of BTS' world domination, her popularity in Korea actually rose in 2021 because she promoted more. It is rare for a singer with a 14 year career to gain popularity before everyone else in this cutthroat industry. I fear what will happen in 2023 o 2024, when she takes over Kpop again and reverses everything and turns everything into nought.
  11. Wonyoung's group But will they be able to put the Senior Singer out of business?
  12. Since KPop's Senior Singer, who is not eligible from receiving a grand Prize from MAMA for the rest of her life because she had received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014, won't be there aespa will win its first Grand Prize of the 4th Gen.
  13. Yes . At the earlier stage of his career, Eunhyuk was so thin that he was called an anchovy by both the fans and members. So he built a lot of muscle, which was not there when the famous photo was taken. However, people now call him muscular anchovy, since anchovy has become his identity.
  14. The favorite candidate of the Korean Presidential Election in next March is a former Chief Prosecutor and very conscious about law and order. He has no children and was never exposed to Kpop in his entire life. It is likely that he will force BTS members to complete their military services, forcing at least Jin, Suga and RM to enlist. With the older members in BTS in the military, IU might launch a final bid to recapture the initiative of KPop from the Fourth Generation of KPop. She had pulled the same trick against EXO, etc in 2014 and only the organizers of MAMA giving her a Lifetime Achievement Award stopped her ambition. She being the Senior Singer and wielding her Seniority over everyone in KPop could create a big scene. The 4th Gen has all of 2022 to grow as big as at least NCT so they could drown the Senior Singer who wants to turn back the clock, but it might be difficult. No one had expected the Senior Singer to stay on for this long. What do you think? Will the 4th Gen be able to stop IU, like EXO barely did in 2014? Or will she win and turn KPop back to 1970?
  15. Well, although not a member of a group, there is still one singer from the 2nd Gen who still terrorizes the younger generation
  16. It comes from Lee Jieun filmed a movie, but it is now defunct since the director wanted to go to a foreign country to film a sequence, an impossibility in today's world.
  17. Yes, the management was always for boy groups. But it seems SM's high brass (read: Sooman Lee) is impressed by aespa's success so it will be a different story
  18. Taemin is now in the Army. I think that like most mature groups, they will concentrate on individual activities and only promote together every 2-3 years.
  19. Yes, but one act usually dominates each gen, and aespa is already way ahead of everyone else
  20. Actually RV did not dominate as much as aespa is doing now. At that time SM had 2 girl groups, RV and Lovelyz, but as late as mid-2016 GFriend was considered to be the 'real' SM group, owned by a proxy (as perceived at that point of time). Until Russian Roulette (Sep 2016) RV was not seen to be one of the major acts.
  21. I think it will be quite hard for the newer groups to break the established wall of aespa Also do you nave an idea about who is the person in the pic, although you probably were able to guess because I am using it?
  22. As all of you know, KPop has been atomized. The top 5 acts this year are bTS Lim Youngwoong, whose grip on trot and older Koreans appear to be rock solid NCT IU aespa === aespa is only second to BTS and IU in terms of general support, since LYW caters to another market. Now, IVE is debuting, and next year both JYP and HYBE, and possibly YG and others, will debut their own girl groups. Do you think aespa is now too established for the newer acts to beat them, or the newer crop still has a chance against the SM act? This is a very strange situation, but I think any new act debuting next year and the year after will find it hard to dislodge aespa. What do you think?
  23. Shape of Water asks a question no one asked before - Is it possible for a human to have sex with an amphibian? The answer was yes. And, Every 9th of November, an important question needs to be asked: Can a human have sex with a fish?
