  1. Ah, I'm a fighter. I always say something cutting if possible. If not, as in physically, then I remember and always take revenge later.
  2. Eeks! Sana Shaikh against him in a romantic role would be so odd. I hope she is the lead female character, and there's no love angle. Even in Chennai Express, I was thinking SRK should've taken heed of his own opinion that he looked like her "uncle". As for him being to take on more nuanced roles - I am not sure if he can anymore. If someone had told me that Baazigaar's lead would do complex roles, I wouldn't be worried. But I feel like he has become set on his characterizations - in RNBDJ or even Don2 I felt like he could've shown more shades to the persona but he didn't and remained recognisably SRK throughout. I saw the film in snatches and pieces so likely your opinion is more well-rounded on the quality. Still I found both the romance and then their meeting again so unconvincing. And the way he keeps leaving her in his quest for adventure left such a bad taste in my mouth. Let alone the child - whose father left her mom before she was born, whose mother keeps waiting for a faithless man for years, and who will suddenly get her father back when she is a late-teenager, when most of her growing up is done? Like, she will get effed up, obviously. Maybe what I really dislike about Bauua is that he is not empathetic - he is set on doing his thing his way, but doesn't bother about the way he leaves a hurricane of emotional devastation behind. Why does he not understand that his lover and child's needs trump his?
  3. Seventeen is the true trendsetter of this gen - after them we have so many bright and cheerful boygroups come out. + Having multiple official colours.
  4. I think the muddy NCT system has carried on for too long. (Is it a thing like AKB or not? Then give fans a say via elections). Please SM, solidify it! Is 127 the Korean unit or not? Is U and Dream meant to be the main(or ballad?) and kids team which will be the only ones to have changing members all the time? What about SEA unit if Ten is in WayV? Come clear! Lay things out in a concrete manner - which you won't change in a few weeks! And, when Chenle, Renjun are older please don't add them to WayV. Find some other way - make a China junior unit or something. Let WayV be as it is now. I think it looks cohesive. I may even become a fan, but first promise me no random member change or concept change.
  5. Right now, with how much projects fans do in an organized manner I cannot trust most of the charting records - youtube, billboard, itunes in many countries, twitter trends. There's barely any organic virality of any manner. First, being from a so-called '3rd world' country, I cannot believe any sizeable bit of the population of other '3rd world' countries has itunes or spotify so that it points to an actual popularity among the general public. Second, the abuse of vpn. Too many fans use proxy to make it appear they're from another country. Third, every ardent fan has numerous accounts. And even korean chart passes. They get tips from within k-fandoms to bypass barriers to even korean-only voting. Fourth, the time-bound aspect of real-time charts. If at any given gst period, the entire fandom organises to trend something, it shows up on worldwide and country charts. Even if actually only a few thousands tweeted or viewed. And then fans take screenshots and brag. Five, only in kpop do I see the tendency to stream religiously, for hours, days, months on end. And that too on multiple devices. (But yes, now many western fandoms are taking that toxic behaviour on too). Six, physicals and the modern era...In most markets, barring Japan, SK and I suppose a few East Asian countries, only a very few huge stars are selling physicals. Adele, Taylor Swift, and who? If groups are getting on the album charts at like #40 or something, just how many albums were bought? Or are those "unit equivalent" i.e. adding in dl and streams both? Think, about Ariana and Kris' charting on billboard. And then, about Havana's charting in SK. Just compare. I am not saying that fans shouldn't be proud of these achievements. You work hard to make these happen. But just think, then, can that be really called the achievement/record made by your bias group?
  6. Naga Chaitanya and his wife Samantha are like the opposite of Amitabh-Jaya - terrible actor and slightly better wife buoyed by nepotism, compared to good actor and better wife making it on their steam. Dulquer, Keerthy and Vijay Deverakonda washed Samantha out completely in Mahanati, so much that I was irritated when her scenes came out. And same for Shruti Hassan - first her face is now a mess due to cosmetic procedures, and she is just so awkward and try-hard despite being in the industry for so long. Just compare the two bits of acting of Naga Chaitanya and Shruthi to Sai Pallavi and Nivin Pauly: (start 1.12) (start 0.50) Joseph Vijay has no personal magnetism. Given that I first saw him in Puli, so I'm prejudiced, but he's such a one trick pony and only does the most retrogade 70s style mass films - no substance, only cheap dialogues. And I'm hating that Sonam is in The Zoya Factor - if only there was a Parineeti or even Sana or Sanya in it...Now I know she will make a screechy, cutesy mess of Zoya's character too I don't think I'll actually go see the film.
  7. Stop gassing up your faves to a level where the comparison humiliates them. Like seriously, unless you're an anti please don't compare BP to the Beatles. Also fans should criticise their bias if they do wrong or don't perform satisfactorily - you're a fan, somebody who appreciates their body of creative work, not their mom. Stop living in delusion, or vicariously through a stranger.
  8. SRK will always have the Chopra-Johar hits to keep his name in remembrance. In case of Salman though, in time his past doings will catch up and besmirch his name. Aamir Khan is now a legit name/face for newer generations in East Asia, Balkans - the 3 Idiots hype followed by Dangal...He is like the international Indian superstar, akin to Raj Kapoor or Rajinikanth.
  9. SRK needs better roles - and maybe he can shift into anti-hero ones? Like Don? Salman, as long as he sticks to Tiger Zinda Hai type of films, will get hits for a few more years. Aamir is actually the winner of the Khan-gen. It is his later social-issue films, the activism, the breaking into China's market that people will mention in history. He will get Amitabh Bachchan's respected senior statesman mantle.
  10. IMO so you may disagree - Aamir has already shifted into plot films, so unless he signs on non-curated horrors like TOH again, he'll age in the industry with grace. Salman had a big flop in Tubelight so he knows there's only a specific type of superheroic role that public wants from him. And because he is such a masala-movie throwback he has the most secure future. Shahrukh in Baazigar, Darr days was a promising actor, and later his charisma carried him in the DDLJ days. But now he is visibly old (young heroines like Anushka and Deepika look like they could be his kids) and his type of hero-type is passe. Like, if Zero was released 10 years back it would be loved. But now, the energy, intensity, flawed characteristics all seem irritating and unbelievable - juvenile immaturity on a senior face. He needs to reboot himself like Aamir - shift into more age-appropiate, more complex roles if he can make the transition. Taran Adarsh is a biased hack. I only check on Masand and Raja Sen's reviews. Zero was bad. Bauua is just such a dislikeable person and the shitty way he ran off to Katrina, Anushka's reason to like him was bakwaas. The replacement of chimp by Bauua. His just leaving her and the child...And do we have the child mentioned again? I saw it in bits and pieces, with fast-forward of segments, and I tbh disliked it. I can understand why the multiplex crowd is rejecting it. Indeed, in my small city, Aquaman is still running but they took Zero off in a week and half. Simmba was good. Masala entertainer with the policeman getting a conscience as the only twist. I disliked the treatment of the rape and the victim as presented within the film. Also, if you've watched NTR Jr.'s Temper, it is the same, total copy. But Tarak is a more convincing actor. The era of Superstar is passing - right now, none of the Khans can guarantee a hit. Even a Rajkumar Rao or Nawazuddin or Ayushman can at least get people to check in. Vidya Balan guarantees a decent opening. Only Ranveer Singh is big right now. I think this a worldwide phenomena tbh. Both star and star-kids are no more guaranteed hits. Ranbir Kapoor has had flops but rebounded via Sanju, Sridevi's daughter Jahnavi started with flop, Sara Ali Khan's debut did just average. Look at the South industries - Joseph Vijay or Naga Chaitanya or Shruti Hassan are having flops where a Sai Pallavi is beloved.
  11. Ah if you know conversational tamil you won't have any problem with watching films. I speak Bengali, Bhojpuri, Hindi, and a bit of Oriya, Punjabi, Maithili, Gorkhali and Marathi. If you're starting on South Indian films, you can start with Mahanati. I'm obsessed with the songs of this film. And my love for Savithri has multiplied by so much - now I know how much of an amazing and inspirational person she was, even beyond being such a charming actress.
  12. Born and brought up in India, mostly in Bengal and Bihar. Working in Jharkhand. Really? Do you speak Tamil or any other Indian languages? I don't understand much of the group of South Indian languages - but just watch those movies on youtube or via tr with subtitles.
  13. Where are you from? I loved Andhadhun, Badhai Ho, Raazi most this year. Have you watched Maari 2 yet?
  14. Yes, Pakistani dramas were being shown on Indian tv on 16 and 17. A number of them were very popular too. At that time, I watched Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Chup Raho. Did you watch Udaari? I watched some of it and I thought it was very beautifully expressed.
  15. Its made by the guy who made Waar, so I'm expecting slick productions and crazy action.
  16. It is a cult hit - obviously for our generation, the OTT violence and bro-appreciation is very funny. This is the movie event of 2019 - I'm so hyped I'm vibrating into hyperspace!
  17. If you haven't heard of him - NTR was the 'Star' of his era (in all of India) - immensely popular for his mythological films and revered pan-India, he became the first actor to get into politics (with immense success). Extra-ordinary persona and a very interesting life.
  18. I hope this is a good film because the inspirational Rani of Jhansi deserves a proper tribute to her magnificence.
  19. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTCUHIfiABY This probably has a gay-angle but I'm not feeling confident about this being treated with sensitivity.
  20. Does anyone remember the Pakistani superhit - original Maula Jatt movie and how batshit fabulous it was? They're re-booting it with Fawad Khan and Mahira.
  21. I don't think that Bollywood would really suffer much without the Khans. Already, the common populace (even in the other language film industries) are shifting into the 'plot is supreme' mode over 'superstar means hits' mode. Right now, even Akshay Kumar gets steady hits only because he chooses great stories. This year, the two huge hits (Badhai Ho and Andhadhun) had Ayushman Khurrana in the leading role. And Thugs of Hindosthan sank. Oh I was about to post that trailer - and I'm about 80% sure it is about Sonam being lesbian. Just worried, because she is a terrible actor.
