  1. Is it just me or is this really gay coded?? wow monsta x really pulling through

    preview extremely gay,

full thing might totally swerve, though (or at least distract by sticking a few shots of a girl in).

guys why are we doing spoiler tags for totally interesting and relevant topics? the political backdrop of LGBT rights/perception in Korea (and even greater Asia, such as Taiwan) strongly influence how comfortable LGBT idols are when it comes to showing who they are or expressing their support. it's not like you guys are talking about how happy you were to see Kai's dancing live in Jakarta or something.

if you insist on using spoiler tags for an entire post (which you don't need to for this topic), at the very least add a descriptive title outside of the tag. otherwise, we're still clicking through all of your spoiler tags to find out what they're about, which defeats the purpose of the tag.

    we've talked about this before.

    thanks.

  2.

RM with Rina Sawayama. She's an openly pansexual Japanese-British artist. RM recommended her song 'Where U Are' a couple of months ago. It's cool that they got to meet each other smile.png

    "Where U Are"?

reminds me I should bring back LULU X's sweetly gay "Where Are You Now"

  3. just watched ep 5 (everything outside the spoiler tag is spoiler-free):

I thought the judging was vastly improved this episode. J-Black was there again, and Honey J was really letting them have it on absolutely valid criticism that can be grown upon. Mun Heejun was also fairly decent (his score for that one team was not well explained, but I kind of got the idea)... though admittedly I can't remember much of Ha Hwi Dong.

felt the bar for performances was even higher this week. the previous round had some great stuff, but you can really see how much harder they're working now and how much time they're spending together in the way they move.

specific stuff about the dances (spoilers):

i really love Lia's dancers, and her idea for expression training was a good idea... but honestly their expressions during the performance were not that good outside of soojung (was that her name?), Queen of Expressions, and that other boy whose name i don't remember.

Kikwang's was amazing, and from the start it was already better than Lia's -- lost some steam in the middle but it all came back when Kikwang showed. funny how his group focused so hard on synchronizing perfectly but had such fantastic expressions while Lia's had probably the weakest (sorry Lia).

Seunghoon's performance fit the theme well i guess (though if we wanna get technical this is not "k-wave" but "k" by itself). the story is nice to know, but relatively inaccessible to foreign people who aren't actively looking for korean folktales (as someone else said, it'd be great for the Olympics). anyway, the dance i felt had a lot of strong, memorable moments, but it like it was almost trying too hard to tell a story and some of the cool moments ended sooner than i was ready for and they kind of got lost.

Hoya's intro was so good i got chills (god the accuracy of the not just twirling the cane but synchronizing as a team along WITH the cane...), but i did have a few issues: (1) "shirtless" dude had very little spotlight, (2) the girl solos lacked just a little bit of impact, particularly the second one, (3) the popping/b-boy stuff from one or two of the boys wasn't as sharp or energetic as the rest of the perf, (4) if we're talking theme, this performance has probably the least to do with it (if we get a little meta, the performance shows the global acclaim/adoration of k-wave stars versus the harsh domestic criticism and dismissal... but kind of a stretch). still, deserved the score it got imo.

JJ's i think was overall the most difficult overall performance, and the most flawlessly performed. they did fantastically performing as JJ members on their own, and then when the actual JJ popped in i loved how they "showed how it's done" while not distracting from the team at large. huge improvement over last week. one issue i still have with them is that the choreo has too much "in unison" in it... don't know how to describe, but there are a lot of moments where i think "5 of them are doing this move but it would look better with 3 (by "in unison" i'm referring to a musical composition having several instruments playing the same pitch/melody as each other rather than harmonizing, offering a counter-melody, or otherwise adding texture). still, i think this was a fantastic showing.

    my ranking for the groups:

    Hoya > JJ > Kikwang > Seunghoon > Lia

    excited for the ace performances

  4. Taehyung on Vlive today (still waiting for full eng subs, but):

The lyrics (Christmas is often celebrated as a couple's holiday in Korea):

I sincerely love Adora and the song sounds lovely, but @ the producer who said it's not for two guys to sing: why can't we have nice things. Not sure if I'm projecting but Taehyung looks kind of dejected here, and the fact that he doesn't want to release the version with Adora is possibly quite telling.

why not sing it together live in a social media update without releasing a studio ver and see the vast amount of positive reactions they'd get for it?

it's a bit daring but i wish they would.

  5. love the performances but the point system is really ruining the show. the first episodes got away with the 50/50 judges vs audience system because the judges were the five coaches (who know what they're working with and set high expectations)... but now that they're bringing in other coaches, and suddenly REVEALING each judge's individual scores (even though they didn't during the first 2 eps), they're essentially throwing the performances to the audience.

it may make sense to say "well this group is amazing so 95, and this group is better so 96," but when you're splitting judgement with a random audience who doesn't necessarily know much about dance, the difference between 95 and 96 is almost entirely negligible. i doubt they'll change the 50/50 balance, but the least they could do is show the judges what they're evaluating and tell them to give varied scores. that way the judges would have more impact overall.

    ...

also the replays in the middle of performances are distracting (replay key moments AFTER the performance, not during it. this is dance, not some idol funtime variety episode).

my rankings and other episode spoilers:

    my group rankings:

Seunghoon > Lia > Hoya > Just Jerk > Gikwang

Just Jerk's was probably the hardest, but i just couldn't really get myself invested; sometimes it was cool, but only a few of them seemed entirely comfortable with it and i couldn't even tell who they were. i choose Seunghoon's over Lia's because sometimes i couldn't really tell what Lia's team were trying to do, and a few parts i felt were supposed to be climactic that i didn't quite get. Hoya's was good but not that memorable in the end, and Gikwang's was memorable but unfortunately not that good.

    performance thoughts (spoilers):

Gikwang > Just Jerk > Hoya > Seunghoon > Lia

Loved Just Jerk's personally, but i couldn't always tell why there were three of them, and sometimes they relied too heavily on their expressions. Gikwang's was just too solid and impactful to compare. Seunghoon's... they did great but i felt similarly to Feeldog... i expected more with such a stark concept. Might have placed them last but Lia's ace team just kinda felt random and wasn't clean, even outside of the highlighted headspin mistake. Hoya's seemed much more challenging than some of the others, and they performed it extraordinarily well, but the concept just kind of disappeared (still don't get it really).

^^i'm not a dancer so my opinions on the performances are not necessarily terribly informed.

  7. no i don't think all of them are gay ofc, but i also think that the majority are lgbt.

and who know maybe they does?

this is kind of the crux of your argument, and while it's true that it IS POSSIBLE, there's really only so many times you can assume the less likely interpretation and still come across as believable.

you may be right, the majority MIGHT be gay, and they MIGHT all share gay porn amongst themselves that they MIGHT admit to willingly on TV under the expectation viewers will assume it's straight porn. and similarly, as Bushi was saying, RM MIGHT be implying that 'Her' could actually be a 'Him' even though there are other ways he could have stayed gender neutral if he wanted to...

it just feels like you guys are almost coming up with excuses to avoid the more likely implications.

(that's not to say i don't buy any parts of your arguments. i do think it's extremely telling that RM used "her" extensively for himself but avoided gender pronouns for Jimin, etc.)

  8. hoya sleeveless and blindfolded, dancing with lia kim on sketchbook:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dst06o18C0A

    thanks!

i was just gonna skip through and watch a few performances here and there but i got sucked in and watched all of it (and now it's past 4am). hoya has a good team but excluding top 10 performers who got to choose their coach, lia kim picked my favorite dancers. gonna be hard competition against that team.

  9. i don't think the point is whether bisexual or homosexual people have it better when they decide to live as "straight." the point is: if you are bi, you are bi. there may be a degree of preference one way or the other, but attraction isn't a simple on/off switch.

    example~♪

if you're a bi boy looking4luv, and you see heart-stoppingly adorable boy A, you could try to get yourself to stop thinking about him... maybe even try to focus on an attractive girl instead. but she's not him. every person you meet is unique, and the same goes for everyone you fall for; it's not so easy as replacing one with any other and everything working out easy. sure, you'll probably move on even without owning up to yourself, but it's gotta hurt if you keep stomping your feelings out every time you find yourself enamored with a boy just because you want to pretend you're straight.

feelings can be ignored, but there is a price.

  10. What do you think about this? Is there a possibility he didn't know about the donation thing? Lol I sure hope he did know.

Edit: lol now when I looked it up myself, it doesn't seem a big deal. Idk why JJ showed his underwear on Twitter tho... and I can't read Japanese that he wrote. Idk. Comment pls if you have something cool to say about this haha. XD

that one named kevin is SUPER good.

and i'm just realizing that when you guys talk about "kevin" recently, you're probably talking about this kevin and not the one in u-kiss.

(didn't realize there were two... can hardly wrap my mind around there being two marks)

  12. If you could know the sexuality of just one Kpop idol out of the whole industry, who would you pick? Why?

If you could know the sexuality of just one Kpop member from your bias group(s), who would you pick? Why?

probably someone i'm fairly convinced is gay, honestly.

there's always a chance they might not be but having that confirmation would allow me to better understand their perspective, i think.

    so probably

    INFINITE - Woohyun

    SNSD - Yuri

(wow i guess those are my only two bias groups.)

there are other members who could possibly swing either way, or maybe straight-seeming members that are actually LGBT or something like that, but it's really too hard to settle on any one member over another in that case.

  13. Like I said, there was a few of sharing about Ansel and Taehyung but it did not get any reaction.  o.O

fine, but maybe your previous posts were at least homoerotic content? this one is just Taehyung in a robe holding a camera...

i don't know what you've posted before about Ansel/Taehyung/whatever, we're only responding to this particular photo.

  14. Uhm, because Ansel constantly shares things about Taehyung, follows Taehyung and Taekook fan sites. Lastly he's shared this pic. This issue has been shared here before, no one has ever had a negative reaction. Why now? o.O

is this a photo that taehyung took and sent to ansel or something?

none of what you just said explained what we're supposed to be looking for here in this photo.
