omg that gashina cover is so hot. it’s fucking freezing outside but i think i need a fan and some ice...Maybe don't take this too seriously but man, it's 2019 and Taehyung is still confidently carrying this torch, huh. (Hilariously enough this reminds me of Sehun lying next to Chanyeol in that one Vlive and going "why does my heart flutter when I look at you, hyung?" or something like that. And also of Taehyung proclaiming Hoseok is "his love" and "his sun" in that one Bon Voyage 3 clip.)
Also Eric Nam killing it!

INFINITE just released a new MV today for "Clock" and it is sweet!
Which brings me to the question, what do we all think about the members?
I think the two obvious choices for gay are Sungjong and Sungkyu? L definitely straight, Woohyun straight, Dongwoo I can't decide...
i'm a huge long-time inspirit and for me the only extreme obvious choice is Sungjong.
Sungkyu is ... honestly, my impression is that he is straight. around debut, his image was kinda "looking for a girlfriend," and though that image has pretty much gone away, i didn't not believe it. there's not much to go off of either way (though he did have a strong, unexplained dislike of woohyun before debut, though now they are quite close), but i lean straight.
Woohyun is quite suspect to me. he's very close with SHINee Key (that inexplicable "taiwan" joke), sungkyu strongly disliked him predebut for whatever reason (could it be...?), and he's way too over-the-top with his proclaimed love for women ("all inspirits are my girlfriends" etc.). there was also that moment during promotions for Bad that he was like "maybe i'll be honest about who i like" and even though he was joking, the members seemed honestly freaked out. another note: it very much seems that before he released his first solo album, he was suffering very hard from an undisclosed breakup. could have been a girl, though, who knows. (i am pretty convinced he is gay)
Hoya is an enigma. he has a walled, masculine image and doesn't like to reveal his emotions, but he's actually very sweet and caring. He's probably the member Sungjong trusts the most (check the pool scene in INFINITE's documentary, "Growth"). it could be some completely different topic, or it could just be that he's very sweet and supportive... who knows. he's an expert dancer. he dances a lot with Hyojin Choi who i recently posted teaching her students some choreography to the gayest ever rupaul song, and recently appeared on a show called "Dancing High" where he worked with and supported teenage aspiring dancers, many of whom were obviously LGBT. and of course that time he played South Korea's most influential gay character in a TV drama on Reply 1997. probably lean straight for him, but it's close to 50/50 and at least he seems like a supporter.
Myungsoo/L could go either way, but i think he is straight. he's had suspect moments, and especially early on his mannerisms were just not very straight-seeming (none of that hetero lack of awareness), but as time passed it's come to look like he just has a very unique, distinctive personality hidden behind great shyness. he had that dating scandal with that girl, but it's also somewhat unbelievable for various reasons. still, i lean straight for him... or not, depending on the day.
Dongwoo and Sungyeol i absolutely believe are straight.

by the way, the scene in Clock MV with the two hands sliding past each other is Myungsoo and Woohyun ;)
boy obviously has spent some time at a very particular kind of club.

this is not a direct relation, but Hyojin Choi (girl with short hair in the first bit) is the dancer who performed a lot with ex-INFINITE member Hoya.
god these guys are working it out. :o

Video unavailable.

What's funny is that when I opened the image, I immediately saw STAY. Then I looked slightly to the left... Seems like my eyes were drawn to it too.

XD omg i didn't even notice that. i was caught on how he circled "get cool" at the bottom. wtf crossword is this :P

This reminded me of something from when Shinee did that creepy noona love show way back just after their debut. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Key say his ideal woman was Chloe Sevigny lmaaooo???
That just screamed "I'm a cerebral fashion loving gay" to me.
well, let's also remember who BoA is.
(SF Pride performance in 2009:)
she's also best friends with TVXQ's Yunho ;)

This isn't anything really, but when Key was asked first celebrity crush, he ended up saying BoA is his role model. Another example of why male idols being fans of female idols shouldn't be seen as evidence of heterosexuality:
"First kiss? Really!" *skips question*
well, not that he would have answered it anyway but still.

is this true? i lack the depth of knowledge required to make a real educated judgement, but the only out asexual person i know is very romantic (and strongly leaning homoromantic) — he’s just not sexual. All sexuality is limited to the bedroom. The only thing to really discuss is romantic attraction, and some asexual people can feel that too. As in a man can be homoromantic (have romantic feelings for another man) and be asexual (not feel any sexual attraction). But in general when people say asexual they usually mean both aromantic and asexual. So yes it would be very hard to know if someone is asexual, but isn't it the same for other sexualities unless you catch them dating someone else? I see people here saying "since I've not seen him interested in anyone, he's straight". Why not just say "I don't know" instead of that?
And, honestly, despite what I just said, I don't mind people not listing asexual when guessing people sexualities. Asexual people aren't oppressed, they just aren't understood so representation isn't really important. And I know some people have a hard time understanding it so they would rather not talk about it. What I mind is people saying things like "unnecessary to shove that kind of label at them". What is that supposed to mean? Asexuality is not an insult or a bad thing.
don’t know how common of a case his is though

hoya performed on IS2 with the kids he worked with on Dancing High. it seems like they won the episode.
-
i liked that taiwanese drama "HIStory2 Crossing the Line," mostly because the plot wasn't solely romantic hijinks (basic but had some sense), one of the two actors was decent, and the kisses were very hot.
example:
still not an amazing show or anything but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Pasting a comment I've made before regarding the Yoongi quote. Apologies to those who've seen it before.
TL;DR: he almost certainly didn't out himself as bi.
This quote is often mistranslated or at least misinterpreted. The key expression "異性ã«é™ã‚‰ãš" does mean "not limited to the opposite sex", but in Japanese (and many other languages), "opposite sex" is a very common (and heteronormative) way of referring to the sex that someone (assumed straight) is romantically or sexually attracted to. My interpretation of that expression in this context is "not just people for whom there exists a romantic interest". When you consider the fact that it's unlikely Yoongi would out himself in a Japanese magazine interview in 2014, this interpretation makes much more sense than the alternatives.
Here's the original Japanese:"僕ã¯æ€§æ ¼ã¨é›°å›²æ°—。僕ã¯æ±ºã¾ã£ãŸç†æƒ³ã®ã‚¿ã‚¤ãƒ—ã¨ã„ã†ã‚ˆã†ãªã‚‚ã®ã¯ãªã„ã§ã™ã€‚異性ã«é™ã‚‰ãšã€å°è±¡ã‚„相手ãŒé†¸ã—出ã—ã¦ã„る雰囲気ã§ã€ã‚ã£ã“ã®äººã¨ãƒ•ィーリングãŒåˆã„ãã†ã‹ãªã¨ã„ã†ã“ã¨ã‚’é‡è¦–ã—ã¦ã„ã¾ã™ã€‚"This is how I'd translate it:"I look at personality and atmosphere. I don't have anything like a set ideal type. What's important for me—and not just with those of the opposite sex—is whether I feel I will click with that person judging from (first) impressions and the atmosphere they give off."It certainly doesn't say "my ideal type is not limited to women". Of course, the fact that he's mentioning other genders at all could be significant—I'm not presenting a case for Yoongi being straight here. However, arguments for him being bi/pan/whatever probably shouldn't use this quote as a central piece of evidence. At the very least it isn't proof.thank you
This is how I interpreted it too back then. In context it reads more like he was carefully dodging the question rather than providing a bold answer. He made it more general and not just about romance, and that's essentially what elevates the answer into something worth discussing years later- his decision to avoid answering the specific question and making it more neutral. That's interesting in and of itself and possibly hints at him seeing things other than gender as more important when clicking with people, but it's the evasion that provides this nuance and not the words themselves. It catches the eye but it's not evidence.
exactly. he's not stating literally that he is bisexual, but the fact that he's opening up the question to both genders at all is suspect (and quite sweet to their male fans)

oh, yeah nah i didn’t mean to imply that it was a definitive statement. sorry if it came across that way !! there’s a lot of nuance among languages that vary from area to area, so with an iffy statement like this it’s difficult to draw any solid conclusion. my main reason for the post was to clarify the contents of what yoongi said, as i’ve seen people to say that he never specified the ‘opposite sex’ in his statement, or claim that the interviewer was talking about race or something because that’s just not the case.
re: ã«é™ã‚‰ãš, it’s one of those tricky things to actually translate, isn’t it? i went with the ‘not limited to’ because that’s most commonly among people who’ve translated it. i toyed with how to word it, but ended up going with the more definitive ‘limited’ since it matched up with the literal of the hanja and like, took into account other things yoongi’s said and done, if that makes sense? but you’re right in saying that it’s not a statement, i’ll go back and change it to reflect that.
it's not incorrect, it's just one of those things where "limited" holds more value in English where a Japanese/Korean speaker might breeze over it. it's a minor difference in most cases (and thus translators tend to go literal), but in this case the slight nuance change has created a stir among English-speakers only (of course, societal awareness towards LGBT issues is also pertinent).
but yeah, there are ALWAYS fans in denial of shit like this ("no sehun oppa didn't actually say he likes men!!" ..um, yes he DID, it's just debatable to what extent he meant it
though come on, we all know), happy to hide behind "mistranslation" when they don't like it, while going insane over unintended moments created from *actual* mistranslation that happen to buy into their fantasies.it's always good to have people who have the knowledge to discuss what's ACTUALLY happening linguistically.

ok a bi namjoon truther is here to enlighten all of you heathens who thinks Joon is het cause "he doesn't ping" ...............SORRY BECKY YOURE WRONG
there's a lot so I'm putting it under a spoiler and posting this in two parts

*image limits; had to remove the rest*part 2

*image limits; had to remove the rest*thats all youre welcome

^^^don't know enough to comment on his sexuality, but he looks like the most effortless fabulous members. he has a confidence and level of comfort where he doesn't NEED you attention, he just gets it. a lot of kpop recently is very try-hard guys focused intently on giving exaggerated looks and poses to the camera, so i appreciate namjoon's more natural (but still fabulous) sense here.
the issue isn't the translation between Japanese and Korean, the issue is the English translation. that's not to say the English translation is incorrect per se, it's just misleading because 〜ã«é™ã‚‰ãš ("not limited to") is more of a grammatical structure than it is a literal statement.please. PLEASE. i know this is from 2016 but fskljdsflkjsd for christs sakes. there's so much misinformation about that interview floating around and this is like. the peak of it.
yoongi wasn't speaking in japanese, as far as i'm aware the interview was in korean and translated to japanese, as whilst they do know some japanese, i'd hardly think that back in 2014 it would've been strong enough to conduct an entire interview (of that calibre) fluently.
a lot of words in korean and japanese share the same root or kanji/hanja, such as heterosexual and homosexual, or backpack (ka-bang/ka-ban), or promise (yak-sok/yaku-soku). to give you an idea on how similar some of these roots are, heterosexuality in korean is ì´ì„±ì• ìž (pronounced i-seong-ae-ja), in japanese it's 異性愛者 (pronounced i-sei-ai-sha. homosexuality is ë™ì„±ì• ìž (dong-seong-ae-ja) with the hanja being åŒæ€§æ„›è€… in korean, in japanese it's åŒæ€§æ„›è€… (dou-sei-ai-sha). these can be broken down even further, with ë™ì„±/åŒæ€§ being same sex and ì´ì„±/異性 being opposite sex. the ì• ìž/愛者 can kind of be broken down into -loving person/nature.
onto the interview itself; it started with the interviewer (itvr) asking about the japanese version of their song's miss right lyrics, wherein it describes a person with long glossy hair and hips. namjoon said it was written by him. this then leads the topic onto his 'ideal woman' (in response joon said that because they're lyrics they're an exaggeration, but they hold truth in this case), then the itvr asked namjoon what he looks at first in a woman. tae answers for joon, and then then joon responds, followed by jk and jm
flirtingadding their opinion. the itvr then asks "suga, what's yours?" [first place looked at in a girl], and that's where the... infamous quote comes from.this is a literal translation as possible whilst still making sense in english:
when yoongi said 'it's not limited to opposite sex', the interview used 異性ã«é™ã‚‰ãš (i-sei ni-kagi-ra-zu). [/size]literally, that's 'opposite sex not limited to'. in korean - we've already established that i-sei = i-seong = opposite sex - to limit to contains the hanja é™, same as in japanese. the chance of mistranslation between the two languages in this situation is near impossible.
after yoongi said his bit, then itvr then moved on to asking taehyung what traits he found valuable in a person.
there's was never any mention of race at all, and yoongi never said he 'liked it all'. there's no issue of mistranslation. yoongi honest to god said that his ideal type of girl isn't limited to the opposite sex.
all these meanings and translations can be checked on http://jisho.org/ and https://endic.naver.com/.
if anyone wants to see my scribbles regarding the interview translation, they're here and here
(fun fact, this was the most yoongi talked the entire interview. prior to this response he'd only said one sentence, and then said nothing else after this.)
it's more like "not just with the opposite sex" rather than "not limited to the opposite sex" (can you feel the difference in nuance?).
that's not to say he isn't subtly implying that he wants to include men in the equation with how he answers the question, but he is certainly not committing to a statement of bisexuality (though he may easily be gay/bisexual).

^thank you. the past page or so has shown a real lack of critical thinking. good to know logic and discernment still exist here. The post you quoted talked about the correlation between homosexuality and anal sex and the role that plays in both how straight people view gay relationships and homophobia.
If you're primary concern was penis jokes I would assume those would be the posts you would quote.
Edit that I'm aware you're most likely trolling but this is an actual dangerous line of thinking that some people may take serious so it's worth calling out.

please guys DO NOT QUOTE THE TROLLS, thank you.
if you really must comment on them, do so without a quote. we don’t need to waste more time reading more of their shit when they pop back into the thread after receiving your notification.

DBSK’s new teaser is kind of ... implicitly homosexual? like... the actual song/MV will probably like GIRL GURL GURL with a love interest strutting around, but the first two trailers were just the members solo and the third is just them together with this “about love†commentary going on.

host IS a total ass though. like... regardless of the sexuality thing, they literally just said Ravi has the most male fans. guess who's NO LONGER gonna have the most male fans if you pressure him to say "i prefer female fans" (if the host succeeded at forcing him to say it)?Just to clarify (i watched this interview a long time ago), the MC was asking who had male fans the most and they all said Ravi, so the host
being the ass he isasked if he liked having more male fans or female fans and Ravi obviously didn't want to give an answer so he said both but theasshost kept pushing him to say that he liked female fans more so he ended up saying this...not stating that Ravi is straight cause idk but so this wouldn't be taken out of contextP.S.
@Suho and donghwanidiot. an idol's livelihood depends heavily on retaining fans.
bless Ravi for having sense and not caving to this dumbass.

Here's my Got7 thoughts in honor of their sweet Christmas repackage. Very much of the "my opinion" variety. Will mention ships only if relevant since we don't get to see some of them interact with many outside people, but I try to avoid it.
Under spoiler because it's a novel once again:
Mark: His personality makes it harder to decipher what he likes. For a time I even got fuckboy vibes but that might be inaccurate. Very chill but also comes across as slightly insecure over friends, mostly of Jackson and Jinyoung, who he gets shipped with so there are many "Mark being jealous" clips out there. Maybe it's because he's a foreigner and quiet but he might just fear being left out so he looks moody sometimes. Shippers interpret that as "omg otp" jealousy but I don't really. Grew up in California, has a gay sister who's married to a woman, and he appears to be openminded. Makes idol friends very easily and is affectionate with all of Got7. He seems straight to me but this could be entirely wrong.
JB: Bi-curious maybe. Neither he nor Jackson have filters so when they fancy someone they show it, and JB does seem attracted to women. He certainly attracts all genders- half of Got7 find him sexy and tell him often. Values personal space and has a tendency to sometimes reject affection from all genders unless it's on his own terms, possibly due to growing up in an abusive home. He wants to be in control of the interaction. Got7 being so loud flustered him in the beginning but he's used to it and has softened up considerably over the years. He's generally curious and casually recommends content from all walks of life, says he reads the back cover and if it's interesting he buys it. Saw CMBYN and bought the soundtrack and talked about it with a fan. He's quite unconventional for an idol (doesn't pretend he isn't close with female idols and goes barefaced whenever possible) and has his own circle of friends consisting of underground musicians who pretty much baby him and they shower each other with heart emojis and endearments. He's cuter with them as he doesn't have to lead. He seems intellectually openminded but is personally guarded and I haven't seen enough of him with men but he has some suspicious moments with both Jackson and Jinyoung, enough for me to wonder but nothing conclusive.

Jackson: Would bet on bi. The most tactile idol I've ever seen. He does seem to be attracted to women (was caught thirsting on instagram etc) that reads as genuine to me and has chronicled his past girlfriends pretty honestly and even overshares for an idol. It's just how he rolls so it doesn't come across as overcompensating or lying. He might just be attracted to a vast variety of people regardless of gender. Openly shows attraction to men and women, is all over his members, thirsts after men on variety shows. Too many receipts to count really. What a legend.

Jinyoung: I'm dying to know. During JJP days I was 100% convinced he's gay, he had a lisp and everything. However in recent years he's made a very conscious decision to pursue a more "princely", actorly image, and he's so good at it that I'm second-guessing myself. He's eager to brand himself as the nation's first love. Not that you can't be all that and gay, but he's so in control now and yearns to be taken seriously. Most of the change might just be him growing up though. But we know next to nothing about how he spends his time. Says "life is acting". With Got7 he's clingy and constantly seeks attention and fuels all his ships, of which he has many. Thot of the group. Has seen CMBYN too, don't know if with JB or separately. Is openminded and mature. Has the aura of a bisexual person perhaps but I can't remember seeing him attracted to a woman tbh. In fact this performance for example is so cold that it's veering towards unprofessional:
Maybe he's going for gentleman and overdoing it but it's incredibly awkward either way. Or perhaps he just hated the whole thing because of the lyrics, but he's still stiff af and not even trying.
Youngjae: Always saw him as straight. Had/has a popular ship with JB where he said JB's his type because he's a tsundere, but I don't see anything in it. 2jae comes across as brotherly. JB dotes on him and there's comfort and lack of tension. These days Youngjae's fully uninterested in any ships and he's a more serious, un- idol like musician in general. Was the first to move out of the dorms and has a slight outsider vibe sometimes (he only trained for a few months before debut). He's never given me an impression that he's gay but he's a mystery outside of the group so the material is lacking beyond him not being into his groupmates. He did accidentally like a (clothed) tiddy pic on insta a few days ago, for what it's worth lol.
Bambam: is wild and extremely expressive. Very flamboyant in his dancing, humor. The girl group expert, fashionista. However. As with Mark but in an opposite way, his personality being so extra makes it hard to tell what's what. Has this joking playboy vibe... that he says silly straight things and clowns himself but actually isn't like that. Expresses himself vividly nonetheless, wears blush and nail polish and doesn't give a damn. I don't know, harder to read than you'd think. Though re-watching this fab stage with Miss A and Jo Kwon, I do wonder if anyone not queer would be quite this immersed:
Yugyeom: He's young but he's never seemed questioning or like he's attracted to men. Has very nice chemistry with NCT's Taeyong though! Taeyong finds him adorable. I don't blame him.
Overall JJJ + Bambam raise my curiosity. Got7's a weird group in that there are so many overlapping big ships which all seem suspicious by kpop standards, making it more likely that none of them are what shippers call "real". They're all just really close and very tactile. But on an individual level the members are very interesting. Do I think it's likely that 4 out of 7 of Got7 are queer? Probably not, but that's the vibe sometimes. Might be one, might be several. For all their extraness, Got7 are also mature and protective of each other.
speaking of got7 and especially jackson, i noticed recently that this gifset had disappeared. took me a while to find it:

Which male idols do you think are gay?

some cultured entertainTment from the Music board, Cha Hakyeon (N) from VIXX choreographed and performed the most graceful, effortlessly fabulous performance of Cell Block Tango (from the renowned musical Chicago) and some other songs.
this man has the sense for beauty
=====
adding to my INFINITE comments earlier, i suddenly remembered some things about Myungsoo (i cut his section short because i had somewhere to be and i couldn’t recall everything).
some suspicious things about Myungsoo (L):
- longtime obsession with fellow member Sungjong (took so many photos of him and even included him in his photo books)
- big fan of TVXQ Jaejoong (ok this one is mild)
- got thrown for a huge fucking loop (legit flustered) when member Dongwoo started talking about his nipples and sleeping nude in a live video
i seriously go back and forth with him constantly. he also had this hyper emotional moment when he was in tears over his dating scandal, but it’s honestly hard to draw conclusions over what he wanted to say at the time because he wasn’t speaking clearly and the scandal was never conclusively solved.
