A BRIEF COMPILATION OF PP ATTESTING TO KYUNGSOO’S KIND PERSONALITY 1. “Saw this in Nate comments: One of my family members is working in a TV broadcast station, so we heard about this, saying D.O.’s character amongst idols definitely belongs to A+ level, really very kind and a very polite young man. Be it TV station’s staff or related people they all praised him til their mouth hurts. After filming ends, D.O. will also stay behind alone to help tidy things up.†via dadaonly_DO. 2. “The Korean translator at Asia Movie awards Xuan Bo Jian, mentioned Kyungsoo in a magazine intv:The one that left the deepest impression on me, was D.O., whom after the ceremony ended, very warmly nodded and smiled to me to express his gratitude. Be it during group intv or backstage, he gave people a quiet and well-mannered feel, which made me leave a very good impression of him.†via dadaonly_DO. 3. “Talking abt the seniors that Kyungsoo have worked with, all of them liked him very much. Jo insung: Everywhere he goes he’ll praise him, eating together, watching concert. Gong Hyojin: Called Kangwoo to the movie premiere to show support. Yeom Jungah: Brought him along to have meals with her kids, praising his character. Everybody knows that the people who acted opposite him are fixed, those that didn’t act directly with him, little fanboy (baek seungdo), giraffe (kwangsoo), kim kibang, moon junghee, kim youngae, from the elders to the youngest (all like him as well).†via Jhwah. 4. END webdrama’s staff saying Kyungsoo’s very kind and she became his fan. 5. Account of a magnae staff on how she was touched by his kindness. 6. Kyungsoo personally making food for IRY staff & the owner of the house said during the three days of filming at the house he’s quiet but handsome & kind. via time4romance 7. MCM marketing manager Paik Yeonju & PR Line CEO Park Manhyun praising Kyungsoo. It’s one thing to have a few people praising his personality, but to have so many of them, all unanimously saying the same thing, be it onscreen/backstage, strangers/staff/co-workers, it really just means, Kyungsoo is genuinely, undoubtedly kind. source

IT’S OKAY, IT’S LOVE JAPANESE RELEASE: INTERVIEWS 1. Interview with D.O., Hallyu Whirlwind Magazine, September 2015 2. Korean TV Drama Magazine, 68th issue: Director Kim Kyutae 3. Korean TV Drama Magazine, 68th issue: Do Kyungsoo ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. interview with d.o., hallyu whirlwind magazine, september 2015 Q: How was it like being on a drama by writer Noh Heekyung and director Kim Kyutae? A: When I got confirmed for this first project, I was so honored I couldn’t believe it. The both of them know what goes into acting, and through Han Kangwoo they taught me, let me understand the emotions that go into human highs and lows. The time we spent filming the drama, I was incredibly happy. Q: Although it was your first drama appearance, your acting was very vibrant. Did you do anything to get into character? A: Teacher Noh Heekyung said she would refer to the film A Beautiful Mind a lot. There are scenes with hallucinations too, so I looked to those and they were a lot of help. I think that’s why filming could be focused. Q: What were your worries during acting? A: With Kangwoo, I tried to act like any other high school student so he wouldn’t feel unnatural. It’s a little weird wearing a high school uniform as an adult, but it made me think a little about back then too. Q: There are a lot of scenes where you appear with Jo Insung. How was it? A: I was kind of scared of him at first, but he took me in as a younger sibling and I am incredibly thankful for that. Jo Insung taught me how to face acting seriously. And he gave me a lot of advice and know-how on expressing characters. Q: Who is he to you? A: He is like a beloved older brother. Before, I wasn’t the type to tell the people who were around me what I felt or meant deep inside, but with Jo Insung I can open up and talk about anything. He really is like a treasured older brother. Q: Do you keep in touch? A: Yes. I meet up often with Jo Insung and Lee Kwangsoo. We talk about acting, and about little things that are going on in our usual lives. Now we’re so close we really small talk about stuff that’s happened around us. Q: Were there any episodes you still remember from filming? A: Kangwoo has a lot of scenes where he runs barefoot. There were a lot of rocks on the ground, so because I would probably get hurt they duct taped the bottoms of my feet (laughs). It is thanks to the tape I could run without hurting. Q: Tell us about any difficult scenes, or NGs (bad takes). A: Rather than something that was difficult, with Kangwoo I first think about having to always wear makeup because he was so often hit by his father. A scene I remember is from the fourth episode, when Kangwoo disappears while running with Jaeyeol. The camera shoots Jaeyeol, and then it pans back in my direction, but I have to be gone, so I had to run in a way to not get caught. Those kinds of scenes are the most memorable. Q: Any scenes you like? A: The scene where Jaeyeol and Kangwoo separate, I can’t explain it with words well, but in that scene I felt like I became Kangwoo, and knew how he felt. So I gained confidence, went “aah, so this is getting into character.†I felt like I was standing at a starting line as an actor. I don’t think I will ever forget that scene. Q: How did your family and the people around you respond to your drama appearance? A: I think they watched without burden. Although normally we live without others knowing what is hurting our hearts, I was told they could really understand us on a deeper level, and it was incredibly like it was just our everyday selves. And that it was a fun and touching story. Q: With this project, do you feel your confidence grew? A: I think I gained the strength to imagine a character’s feelings or simulate their emotions. I think a lot about what I’d do if I got the chance to act as Kangwoo one more time. Q: Any last words? A: Hello fans in Japan. I am EXO’s Do Kyungsoo who acted as Han Kangwoo in It’s Okay, It’s Love . It is a drama that portrays people whose minds and hearts are wounded, and how they face those wounds and traumas and heal as they live. I hope that as you watch this drama, you feel at least a little warmth. Please give love to It’s Okay, It’s Love . Thank you. 2. korean tv drama magazine, 68th issue: director kim kyutae EXO’s D.O. took the role of Kangwoo and acted in such an impressive way that it didn’t seem like his debut project. The production thinks of him as a great fortune. When a popular idol appears on a drama, it gains overseas attention; EXO is absolutely such an idol group. But of course, before that he had to go through auditions. Because Kyungsoo acted better than we had expected, we felt there was potential in him. At first, we put him through training that was a bit strict. The writer had him go over single lines dozens of times. We might have put Do Kyungsoo into a panicked state (laughs). Why we put him through such strict training is because there have been many cases of young idol singers stiffening on-site because their nervousness was unexpected. So by early filming, Kyungsoo was already tested by the continuous practice. And, by enduring that course, the actor and staff also built natural camaraderie. Later on, Kyungsoo started showed acting even further along than what we’d expected. It felt like we had discovered a treasure. 3. korean tv drama magazine, 68th issue: do kyungsoo Q: Impressions on your first drama appearance? A: Honestly, at first it was a little hard to understand what the script was saying. But even then, for the sake of my understanding, director Kim Kyutae and writer Noh Heekyung taught me, one by one, the meaning of the lines and the character’s emotions behind them, so I am incredibly grateful. Q: How was it wearing a school uniform for the first time in a while? A: It was indeed a weird feeling wearing a school uniform as an adult (laughs). It did make me think of memories from school. Q: There were scenes that needed tons of emotion, weren’t they difficult? A: It wasn’t like that. Rather, since my usual life doesn’t often demand a ton of emotion, that kind of acting was really interesting. Q: How did your family act after watching the drama? A: I think my parents really enjoyed being able to watch the son they usually don’t get to see. And I was glad when others told me that it was interesting and touching. © annatto12 source
