Hey, this is not really ps related but my friend is really sad nowadays cause she keeps comparing herself to idols not only their looks, their personality, money, how their parents are supportive, how kind they are and how close the groups members are with each other, how talented they are, how much they are loved by so many people basically their whole life etc.. she gets really envious and depressed.. what advice would you give?

Idols are humans just like the rest of us and outside of what they show us, their lives may not be that great. Just look what happened to Goo Hara or Lee Teuk. It's really gut-wrenching what they both went through.

monsta x jooheon - monbebes do the boy dirty.

least likes, least retweets, least views, least fansites.

takes his projects MONTHS to even 1m views, he even said once that he stopped checking the views on his video because it wasn't moving.

all the other members have 500k-1m followers on instagram and he has yet to touch 300k.

I'm genuinely so surprised by this. I kinda just assumed that he was one of the popular ones of Monsta X since he has so much charisma and seems to be a sweetheart off stage.

  3. That's American trends, Kpop is in Asia even if the groups are trying to make it in the west so it's hard to say that they'll be able to be 'on top' of the trends in a place half-way across the world from them but that's not to say they lag behind. In things like fashion, I generally see a consensus that they're some of the forerunners but again I'm from Asia.

If you find Kpop boring, there's actually a lot of different music in Asia. In Thailand for example they have a really big band scene from what I can gather online and I love some of them (Three Men Down, Scrubb are my favorites so give them a listen if you want to try something new)

Like... I get that it'll be catering to older fans of the Winx series... but like... this seriously looks like a rip off Twilight movie. I know it's just judging from a photo, but the outfits? What is that? Why does everything look so dull?

The only thing I like about this so far is that they're all relatively unknown actors. And the showrunner is the same as the one from Vampire Diaries... so... idk. This is feeling exactly like a CW show though, lmao.

I don't understand how this is even 'catering' to older fans who should already know what the winx is all about, which is not whatever they're trying to sell to us over at netflix.

They climbed on trees and took photos on sets lmao I'm still not over how they climbed half the mountain to get there 😩

I think boat one was for a fishing variety show??? For Wang yuan? I remember BCS I found it absolutely hilarious how they stacked on top of each other taking pics away lol

    I also remember immortality?

Their fansites were something else, untamed didn't got that since their actors were pretty unknown before drama luckily imagine acting in a historical drama and you turn and see this

Bunch of people taking pics in a work machine omfg

Ah I remember checking out 2ha/haoyixing twitter space and seeing these photos. Funny, but the staff was definitely not happy with it so they tightened security from my understanding. The drama is about to come out soon in 2021~

  6. After finding out about her son's debut I looked her up and her history is so sad. She went through so much in life and also with her husband. I can understand how hard she must have found it to keep on going after being so battered by life. I feel so sorry for her children as well, with their father and maternal uncle also committing suicide afterwards  Just a sad situation for everyone involved, but I hope Joonhee and Hwanhee will be able to live happy lives.

i was just reading back thru this thread and thought of something very relevant that i've never seen anyone bring up here: cameras distort reality! sometimes when idols looks a little uncanny it's not even necessarily the editing, it could literally just be the camera lens.

this is especially important to consider when talking about jaw shaves, rhinoplasty and facial contouring, because different cameras can really warp your facial proportions to quite extremes. when you look at old selfies of idols, they're probably taken with an extremely short lens, which will automatically make their noses wider/bigger and their faces longer. it goes without saying that they're gonna look different on a 200mm professional film camera, even without the added factors of age, puberty, weight loss and styling.

    just some food for thought

True! I also remind myself of this because it also happens to me when I take pictures.

  8. The way some of you guys talk like these celebrities don't actually live and work in China. What do you expect? If the CCP wants public support from them, they're going to have to do it or face being blacklisted. Being a celebrity does not mean you'll be protected as evident by what happened to Fan Bingbing.

If celebrities suddenly speak out in support of one thing, it's probably that a memo has been passed around to do it. They also don't want to get involved in politics.

World-hated country China may be, it is still their home and everyone should keep that in mind instead of expecting things to play out like it would in your country. Not everyone is fortunate enough to live somewhere with freedom of speech.
