Your response doesn't make sense. By calling them "shameless", you're directly assuming what you think their intentions are. In respone to that, I said that their intentions are hard to gauge because of the complex political nature of being a public figure in China. Politics is intrinsically connected to this subject, so I don't think you can make conclusions about someone's intentions without also considering the political climate of the industry. It's clear that you don't have any idea about how C-ent and C-pop works if you think that someone can stay silent and still have a profitable career ahead of them. If a public figure or celebrity chooses to be silent, then the government won't even have to blacklist their career - online netizens will. These days, not openly showing support for nationalistic causes is a death sentence for your career. Even if you're an international (i.e. non-Chinese) celebrity, there is an expectation that you will post these things, for example, the foreign members in INTO1. Even in Chuang 2021 (the competition show that led to the creation of INTO1), RBW and Avex, which are Korean and Japanese companies, respectively, were making pro-China posts because they had trainees in the competition. If they didn't, they would never have made it far or debuted. My only point was: it might seem hypocritical to those that don't understand, but often times celebrities working in China have to choose between making these posts vs. the longevity of their career. It's hard or impossible to know what they truly think about the things they're posting, so I don't think we can make assumptions about their character.

This is what confuses me about people that have opinions like this. I'm almost certain that the girls themselves don't give a flying f*ck about politics, especially if they're minors (the younger generation especially is a lot more open minded about world issues). All they want to do is sing and dance on stage and fulfill their dreams. However, China is a communist country and so they need to say certain things to survive in an industry and society that's ready to blacklist them at a moment's notice. Just look at what happened to Tony Yu from YWY3. The fact that you're blaming the girls themselves for being born in an oppressive society doesn't make sense. I understand that it looks bad from an outsider's perspective and from countries that have bad political ties with China, but to put all of that burden on the shoulders of teenage girls that simply want to live their dreams of singing and dancing on stage does nothing but create more divisiveness.

Was Pristin Too Early For The Highteen Trend?
jeong jaehyuns boyfriend replied to Your Biggest Fan's topic in Random
i actually liked both songs, i thought they were really fun and i still listen to them sometimes. i think pristin definitely built a lot of momentum with these 2 songs after their debut, and there was A LOT more potential for them. i dont understand why pledis just left them out to dry and i will never understand. -
ehhh imo given Super M's reception, a female Super M wouldn't be profitable tbh. most of Super M's profit came from touring, but nobody can hold concerts right now, so that's pretty much out of the question. i also dont know how to feel about the possibility of there being a "rotational" girl group using the aespa members and new members. like... that would basically be like the NCT system except having completely unrelated groups with different names, but some of the same members. that's just confusing and i don't think it's a very good move considering how early aespa is in their career, and how complicated their "lore" already is. i'd very much rather SM spend more time and money in developing aespa's brand and their discography before throwing the girls into another project. if anything, i'm actually open to them adding more members into the aespa franchise (it would look great from a conceptual standpoint given their concept so far) rather than taking members OUT of aespa. that doesnt sit well with me. and then theres a third possibility, which is that this is a whole new girl group altogether, which still wouldnt really make sense to me given that aespa is still SO new. i think this is more of a special female project group, perhaps with members of different groups, but hopefully with a different trajectory than Super M... Yoona is busy with her acting gigs, and Sunny is done with idol life in general. f(x) is donezo at this point, and BoA is pretty much still in hiding after her "drug" scandal, although i wouldnt rule her out. i dont really think it's a good idea to add aespa members into this thing because they're so new and should be focusing on their own activities, but it also could be a possibility.... if i had to take a wild guess, i'd say this is some sort of subunit/project group with Hyoyeon and Yuri. we all know SNSD's fan colour is pink, and the design of the icon looks similar to designs for Hyoyeon's solo songs so far. perhaps they might throw Seulgi in there, and MAYBE Karina.

[pann-choa] AESPA [NEXT LEVEL] MV + MELON RANKING
jeong jaehyuns boyfriend replied to bye-bye's topic in Netizen Nation
I’m pleasantly surprised that the song has such a good reception by GP and debuted quite high on the Melon chart... tbh I was expecting something a little more upbeat but I really like the instrumental and production of the song... so it’s growing on me -

Ehhh he’s alright -
From what I understand, the alleged KTV business involving prostitution and drugs was operating between 2004-2006. Tony is 18 and was born in 2002, so he would have been 2-4 years old at the time. I think it’s safe to say that the money they earned from that business back then has been spent and gone a long time ago. Penalizing a literal child for something he had no part in is an odd take, but go off I guess.
-
I’m shocked how fans like you have no sympathy for Tony, he did nothing wrong except chase his dreams. All he wanted to do was sing and dance on stage and he’s watching his life fall apart over something he had no control over, which is ludicrous. And the fact that some people are celebrating his demise is sickening. I agree that him leaving the show was the best decision for everyone involved (including himself) but JFC is it so hard to find some sympathy for a kid who is being humiliated in front of a billion people?

Official Vocals thread (READ OP FIRST)

I agree, I definitely noticed that. Throughout the majority of the song, he sings in a really airy tone, which is why his G4s really surprised me. It was like, a pretty balanced sustained G4 out of the blue LOL. Personally I thought it sounded quite supported, not too bright and not too chesty. Personally, I do think that the way he was singing in the song was a stylistic choice because he sounds less airy in other performances/clips: @0:20 a really pretty mixed A4. It was really bright and head-dominant but it let's me know that he does know how to control the balance in his mix @3:20-3:40 ish, he hits D3 several times and it's still a little airy but it sounds better than the low notes from the prior performance I linked. Unfortunately, whoever his vocal teacher is doesn't seem to be helping to develop his lower register lol it seems like he's being taught the JYP "breathy" approach to low notes in this vlog he's singing live without any post-production at around @1:55 (he's the one wearing the gray shirt). @2:05 another head voice-dominant mixed G4. @2:17 a mixed/head voice (?) C5 (!) I think he knows what he's doing, he just needs a bit more training to refine his technique. That being said, his attention is mostly focused on acting, but I think he has potential to be a vocalist.... unfortunately, he didn't make it into the final lineup of INTO1 so he's most likely going back to being an actor (although he'll probably still sing at like, fanmeets or for OSTs and stuff). He has such a beautiful tone :') (and a beautiful face) -

have any of you been watching the recent chinese produce shows? ive been watching chuang 2021 recently and one of my fav trainees is wu yuheng. he's sold as a visual (he was in chinese ulzzang shows and did some acting with his agency before the show) but he also sings quite well... first of all, he has a face that can literally stop wars. like... can we just.... *chefs kiss* but anyways, this was his solo performance for the final voting round (he made it to the end and placed #18 out of 90 contestants on the show). the performance was a little shaky, but his G4 @1:11 surprised me.. it wasnt too bad at all... -
i totally agree... he's basically blacklisted in the entire chinese music industry (and probably korea too) for the actions of his parents, that he probably was unaware of. ive seen so many i-fans jumping on the hate bandwagon too, but i havent seen ANYONE consider the fact that he was literally 2-4 years old when his parents allegedly owned that KTV. sigh.... i just hope hes okay.
