  1. Oh man, I just love D.O.'s tone and color. It's like warm butter. EXO is not really a bias group of mine, but that boy. I don't even care at all that he doesn't have classical technique. Not every singer should be judged by those standards, and D.O. is a good example. A lot of that technique just sounds out of place in that style. I feel like he'd make a great jazz singer.

    LOL YEEEE

he reminds me of jessica when he cracks all over the place

    BUT MANNNN i know eh

here's one of my favourite lives hes done (which means i like it a lot cuz hes done A LOT these past few months).

DAT F5 HEAD VOICE AT THE END...

and the very last line with that classic SM style quaver combo.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUSqxgKL3M0

so glad they brought ftts' song back!

edit: did i mention d.o gets brownie points for making sehun cry AGAIN. LOL

  2. Oh yeah I could really describe it well.

But yeah Baekhyuns voice is nice to hear for soft songs...

Which is why I love growl now

I actually love D.O's voice the best, and Luhan is a VERY close second.

Then comes Baekhyun and last is Chen XD

I mean, in terms of their tone and colour, and also their style of ad libbing / creativity.... basically on everything except technique, lol.

D.O ofc like what everyone says is made for r&b and more soulful type of music (even gospel i dare say) because he has that richness that people look for in those genres.

luhan and chen's voices were made for pop.

baekhyun is a unique case.. he has a sort of ballad-based voice. i see him doing a lot of OSTs in the future, and as he becomes older, being one of those "sunbae" singers who release a lot of ballad style genre albums.

  3. I feel like Chens voice is more like a bell and Baekhyuns voice is more.....cloudy?

Yes yes, that's exactly how I feel about their voices!

I think Baekkie isn't projecting properly or something because a lot of his high notes feel withdrawn and not properly belted out. I think that's where the "cloudiness" comes from... aside from his vocal tone/colour of course!

Chen's voice is lighter but he also strains less and belts a bit more properly.. if that makes sense... I'm not an expert but that's just what I feel! :D

  4. Um....no lmaooooo!!!!

You've clearly never seen  beyonce,Patti, or Whitney performance.

I've seen a lot of whitney's performances actually (possibly all of her performances on youtube for certain songs) and it's very easy to tell she doesn't lipsync because her creativity > 9000. Beyonce... tbh she lipsyncs fairly often too, but she has her moments (like when she performed irreplaceable and halo to a hospital audience with her raw vocals). ive never had any interest in patti ._.

But real talk i honestly feel like bada is lipsyncing, no hate or butthurt intended at all.

  5. [media]http://a9ui0MHFXg[/m

Another very good performance from Bada on IS2! I rly like her singing with the piano

    Yes she is amazing ^^

But I'm having doubts whether or not that is live (as per usual)...

Ever since her first performance on IS2 (Girls' Generation by Lee Seung Chul), something about her performances was really fishy. I mean, in that performance she was basically whipping her head back and forth, vigorously stomping her feat, and bending her abdomen in weird directions... all the while, with perfect breathing that could not be heard clearly in her microphone, and hitting high notes in the fifth octave without any trouble, seemingly unaffected by the physical stress she was putting on her body and therefore her voice.

Even before IS2, I've watched Bada's performances with SES back in the day and even a few performances of her solo activities, and her mouth never pronounced certain words the way she does on IS2.

Of course I still love her and appreciate her talent but I can't help but feel a little disturbed that she may have been lipsyncing all this time on this show. Kind of reminds me of Celine :(

  6. I have a quick question, do any of you guys have Gates To Infinity? I was thinking of buying it tomorrow and pre-ordering X/Y and I'd like some opinions on it!  :)

"It has been uncovered by Siliconera that The Pokémon Company has recently filed for two trademarks in the United States. These trademarks are for the titles Pokkén Fighters and Pokkén Tournament. It is currently unknown to what these trademarks pertain, but they could be anything from a line of merchandise to a new game, possibly the one shown at the Pokémon Game Show. We'll provide details as and when they come"

Pokémon and Tekken? oh my god

Gates to Infinity is great from what I've heard, I just wish there was a wider selection of starter Pokemon....

AND YESSS I heard about the "Pokken" rumours too! From what JWittz was talking about, it kind of makes sense for them to only use fighting pokemon in the game too. I mean, having any other types wouldn't really be suitable for a pokemon fighter game. The mechanics just wouldn't make sense... besides, fighting pokemon are really diverse, so it should be interesting. Anything from machamp or primeape to gallade or breloom.... 8)

OHOHOHO and as we saw, blaziken and lucario in that teaser picture!

    AND X AND Y UGH

  7. Lina is good, Dana is decent, Sunday is okay, Stephanie is mediocre (SeoSic's level)

Dear. Don't be fooled. CSJH is the best female vocal group overall. Stephanie is as good as Seohyun and she's the weakest, then you have Sunday's who's like in between BoA and Narsha, then Dana who's like right bottom top 10 and Linda who's like 4th best.

Whoever told you that,  lied to you. CSJH are a good vocal group. They are one of the best, if not the best vocal gg in Kpop. Lina's good, Dana's  decent, Sunday's okay, and Stephanie's like Minkyung-ok.

    OH LOOOORDDDDD

Thank God I thought you guys would SLAY them for some reason.

I guess I was just paranoid because CSJH was the very first kpop group I listened to back in 07/08 and I loved them to death and thought so highly of them. So I was just trying to cushion any criticism my poor Shapley heart had to take.

YESSS I ALWAYS BELIEVED IN MY HOME GIRLS

    UGH

    so happy rn XDDDDD

  8. thank you. Whoops, I meant it was a G#5 (and Jessica hasn't done G#5 yet but G5), so bad comparison for me.

Everyone always says this and I know where they claim it to be, but I really cannot for the life of me hear it...

In Say Yes with Krystal and Kris, right, during one of her ad libs around the 1:10 mark?

I honestly couldn't hear a G5. I LOVE Jessica and I REALLY WANT HER to make that step over to G5, trust me, but I really couldn't hear it.

At the time people claimed she hit a G5, I just heard her start at D5 and then eventually make her way down to C4 or so in that run.

Because the audio was ripped from a video recording, I DID hear a high scream or exclamation before Jessica's D5, which I don't think was her and was someone in the vicinity of the uploader / camera person.

If someone can help me it would be appreciated D:

  9. She's not. Celine is nasal and very often throaty and tense... Celine gets extremely nasal above Eb5, below that she's resonated but most of the times she's just somewhat supported or just tense... she's got her style and whatnot and her voice is good but she's not as good as Tier 1 vocalists and definitely not anywhere near Whitney/Mariah level

    :._.:

A lot of people have this impression probably because she came from the same era as Mariah and Whitney, that's how I've always seen it, I like her though

and my comment about Filipinos was also a generalization and is from what I've observed on youtube, I have one friend who is Filipino who loves to shove Filipino singers in my face but that's kind of the only real life experience I've had with it.

Personally it's because I grew up with her on the radio, lol.

At that time, Whitney was getting deeper into her addiction and Mariah was having her breakdown phase, so Celine was the one that I always heard and knew around my household, in the car, on television, and on the radio. She was basically the first "diva" I ever came across so that's why she has a special spot in my heart, lol. Sounds lame but it's true! People always say she lipsyncs 100% of the time, but that would be impossible since she's gotten her own lyrics wrong before....

  10. There is nothing wrong with changing the lower notes, if she can't support them properly then changing it up is fine, and Charice just copies other singers and pushes down her larynx to try to imitate Whitney's voice. I find that a lot of Filipinos are always try to push their own singers as the best and bashing on other singers, it's really petty and makes them look really insecure. This happens on youtube videos a lot, like Regine is always mentioned on So Hyang videos and it pisses me off

:hurr:  Hehe finally it has been said!

With absolutely no racism intended, I feel like filipinos have a sort of cult about how their singers are the best in the world and are automatically superior to other singers who aren't filipino. Of course Charice is amazing and filipino singers are no better and no worse than any other singers on earth just because of their race, but it does bother me how they often put down singers of other ethnicities... that IS a generalization of course, but only rightly so because I've seen Sohyang, Ailee, and even Celine being put down numerous times on my Youtube endeavours luls...

I still like Charice! The maker of that video is just obnoxious.

  11. Generally speaking, that was a beautiful performance. They didn't go into a very screamo range and only some strained and nasal notes from Chen... It was overall really nice, Baekhyun's head voice was lovely, F5 and stuff <3 Intonation was spot on and their harmony was just really nice. Overall, it wasn't amazing technically, but for what it was, it was a good vocal performance, well rehearsed and delivered ^ ^ I actually believe if they stay in IS2, they might end up improving without a doubt~

slightly conceited? slightly? lol I heard one C#2 in the beginning and that was scary. lol tbh I'll forever disagree with voice types but that's just me but yeah Some of the E2's aren't really supported, so it seems that below E2 it can be a hit or a miss, and I don't count fry personally but u did stretch it down to like Bb1 B1 which is so. lol scary. lol good job.

    --

that Mariah pic makes it so hard for me to take u srsly sometimes..LOL

YES I love it when my favourite idol singers do well... HEHE

    AND LOL IM NOT

Scary? Okay well... okay yea I agree it was pretty creepy. I usually don't like going that low down there...

    ehe... HEHEHHEHEHEHHEH

and yep I kind of agree... Josias, every time I see your comments I can't help but chuckle at Mariah's half-derp looking face smiling on the side ._.

  12. I wonder why SME decided to send Baekhyun and Chen to Immortal Challenge instead of D.O. and someone else. I also have to question why Baekhyun was chosen to sing the national anthem over D.O.

    Very interesting.

D.O's voice while very sultry and soothing to the ears, is a bit too r&b / modern sounding for an anthem.

Knowing D.O's style, he'd probably throw runs and quavers all over the place too which might not be a good idea for something so official.

Baekhyun, although with arguably worse technique, usually avoids all the extra vocal ornaments that D.O is so partial to... his tone is also much more universal and less oriented towards a certain genre like D.O's tone is for r&b. I think because of his singing style and tone he was chosen over D.O.

I think Baekhyun's performance was pretty good... it wasn't perfect, but he sang comfortably. You could tell he was nervous since he wasn't keeping time with any tempo whatsoever, but that being said, it was good that he didn't make any mistakes, crack, forget the lyrics, etc! It WAS for Peru and Korea's 50th friendship anniversary soccer match so it was a pretty big deal.

edit: oops I forgot to talk about Immortal Song 2 XD I think that SM tries to balance the amount of opportunities that the main vocals of any of their groups get to show off their voices. D.O has been doing A LOT of radio covers as of late, and Baekhyun and Chen have just been sort of sitting on the side letting D.O sing like 3+ covers lol. D.O from what I've been listening to also has a lot more ad libs than Baekhyun and Chen have in their repackaged album songs... like in XOXO, D.O has 10+ ad libs in the Korean version and Baekhyun has close to none.... so it is a balance ^^ Don't forget that D.O, Chen, and Chanyeol went on 1000 song challenge and Baekhyun didn't ^^ So it all kind of just evens out.

  13. I'm so proud of our bacon and troll....

    edit:

btw can someone give their opinion on baek singing the anthem?

he sang it pretty low considering the high notes he usually likes to reach

like... he sang it in my range o-o

i forgot if i posted this already, apologies if i did ^^
