Which male idols do you think are gay?
jeong jaehyuns boyfriend replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
i agree with parts of your comment, but we have to remember that the majority of fans that are pushing this queer narrative are cishet teenage girls, which itself is v problematic imo. if queer kids are finding ways to see themselves in their favourite forms of media, i agree that that's absolutely fine. that's how i survived on heteronormative media growing up as a kid too lol. but imo, i feel really uncomfortable when non queer people do that, and i also dont think we should be pushing our speculations of their sexuality or relationships onto the actual idols themselves, such as commenting under their social media or even going to fanmeet events and spouting that bs. i also kind of agree with the other user in that while it's perfectly fine to want to see yourself reflected in your fav idols (sometimes by using imagination, such as shipping or writing fanfics), we shouldn't seek validation from those idols as queer "icons" because they're most likely uneducated when it comes to LGBTQ+ issues. you even said it yourself, that south korea still has a lot of anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment - that includes many of these idols because they are also korean and born and raised in sk, so many of them may have these same close minded views. we also have to remember that these companies and the idols themselves are very likely aware of fandom culture, shipping, etc and will absolutely utilize that for profit via queerbaiting, fanservice, etc. so some of the supposed "gay moments' or "gay support" from idols might not be genuine. a safe space for me as a gay kpop fan for as long as i remember has always been fanfiction - its purely imaginary (ie not dependent on the real words or actions of anybody) and as long as its kept within the community, its entirely separate from the idols themselves irl, so they never have to see it or engage with it unless they choose to. idk if any of my comment made sense, this might just be me rambling at 3am lol. -
deserved. when i first heard the song i didnt know what to think of it, but after a few more listens i was hooked, and i still am.

isnt jackson no longer JYP? i dont follow him but from what i understand, i thought got7 disbanded and hes primarily promoting as an independent cpop artist now. so i wouldnt really consider him a kpop idol anymore... as for yuqi, im pretty sure her chinese activities are putting food on the table for GIDLE especially since soojin is basically out of commission...

some Hong Kongers are pro-China, and many HK celebrities are in a similar boat to Jackson - nobody knows if they truly support the CCP or not, but they still voice support regardless to ensure their career in China. Jackson is an exception because he can probably find success in Korea or even America, but manny HK celebrities have no choice but to rely on the mainland Chinese market bc the HK entertainment industry is pretty much dead at this point (esp. for music, sadly).

Longest amount of time you've been a fan of a certain group?

The sad thing is, I’ve seen so many of these couples even in my city. Usually it’s one of these sexist/incel Korean guys and a white or non-Korean girl that’s a fervent koreaboo. Both have a high likelihood of being below average but both will more than happily settle for less. But it’s not a bad thing, they deserve each other lol

wait, sorry but i feel like im missing something here. how is this cultural appropriation? o_o -
oh absolutely, you dont have to be of a certain race to paint people of that race as long as its done respectfully. i dont think theres a problem with him painting white people. im just saying, i think the fact that non-white artists often paint white people or european architecture/scenery is interesting, and i think its because of the focus on european art history when training artists around the world. i dont live in europe and im not white or european, but when i was younger i was taught european art history in my art and music classes, and it was treated like the standard that we should aspire to (i.e. eurocentricism in art). im not demeaning the history of art in europe or european/white artists or anything like that. i just think that other forms of art havent been as appreciated and the representative pieces of art shown in this article reminded me of that LOL. im asian so now that im older, i prefer to draw/pain east/southeast asian-inspired things.

i feel like this turned into something that's now way bigger than it initially was LOL so lemme get this straight - shes dating someone that's allegedly linked to the burning sun club as exposed by this reporter, but instead of complying with the investigations, she's accusing the reporter of lying and filing a lawsuit against him for overstepping her personal boundaries, right? imo if i were here, i would have just stayed quiet and let the police do their investigations on her boyfriend. this scandal seems to have more to do with her boyfriend than it does with her

didnt one of red velvet's ex-backup dancers allegedly like the exposé post as well? in any case, if this is all true, it sounds like it was a long time coming and i feel like irene needed this slice of humble pie. also, at this point the stylist should just drop the audio.

Kdrama Penthouse did blackface?
jeong jaehyuns boyfriend replied to My Everything's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
This whole scene is a mess. -
uh oh. i mean, he has apologized a lot on the show, but he wasnt really specific about what he was apologizing about. so it does seem like a statement from him is necessary if this is gaining traction. i actually really liked AK on the show and his personality from what ive seen is actually quite cute and friendly. i dont have an issue with him dissing idols because like... having strong opinions isnt problematic for me LOL but what i do have a problem with is his comments toward women. definitely very misogynistic and uncalled for. TBH if i can be 100% with you, santa specifically gave me low key womanizer vibes too. the way he (and many other contestants on the show) acted during the episode where they had to collab with a female guest was very off-putting. it was like they were basically drooling over the girls and acting really over the top to try and woo them. thats just me tho
