1. Red Velvet situation was much different. They were already inactive at the time of Irene’s scandal. NCT is still a very active group
2. She was on hiatus for 9 months. She only had a OST & her drama release during those 9 months (since they were film before the scandal). She also did some birthday lives & performed 1 concert during her hiatus.
um I'm not comparing their careers or NCT to Red Velvet, I'm just trying to get an idea of how long Lucas's hiatus might be by looking at other SM idols that have had recent scandals. Whether it was 9 months or a year, Irene, Chanyeol, etc were all on a hiatus for longer than 3 months (which is how long it's been since Lucas's scandal).

nah i think its the jaw shave, nose job, and loss of facial fat that made her look like jennie. she was already a cutie before she got those extra procedures
hmm I actually don't think Ningning had a "jaw shave". her jaw and overall facial structure look the same to me. I think she had a rhinoplasty ("nose job") to make the base of her nose less bulbous, an epicanthoplasty (aka double eyelid surgery), and probably a "cat eye lift" procedure (which I think makes her look like Jennie?)

Regardless of whether you think Lucas is innocent, guilty, or somewhere in between, it's probably the best for his career long-term (and for NCT in general) for him to sit this one out. His scandal just happened 3 months ago, so he should be on hiatus for longer if he doesn't want his controversy to be stirred up again. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Irene was on hiatus for over a year... so SM is probably going to let him sit out for at least that long. NCT and WayV have enough members to keep functioning for now, and as for SuperM, Baekhyun is going to be in the military until the end of 2022.

As I said, the lawsuit is over, Guanlin won. He's free of his contract with Cube. He has no other connection to k-ent. There's honestly, no reason or incentive for him to return to Wanna One given his circumstances. It's like expecting Hangeng to participate in Suju anniversary activities. Blame Cube for selling his contract (seriously, why did they do that).
oh okay, I thought it was still an ongoing lawsuit. Well, in that case, if the lawsuit is over - that actually makes it even easier for Guanlin to come back and reunite with the other members, because he's not bound by any terms in his contract or of the legal proceedings.
Hangeng's situation is a bit different because WannaOne was a temporary group and iirc, they made a promise to reunite (and even still Heechul and Hangeng still hang out and are friends). Also, it's not about money or career/financial incentives, it's about sentimental value, their fans, showing gratitude to the group that gave you a platform as a jumping off point from which you gained all the fame and success you had today... and most of all, about friendship (if their friendship was real). If I were him, I'd go, that's all.

With the lawsuit, he might have burned bridges with the SK industry, and with the crackdown the CCP is making on celebrity culture and the further banning of Hallyu, not coming back is the safest option for him tbh.

These are both valid points! But coming from an nctzen/wayzennie - members of NCT and WayV especially are constantly between China and Korea. Not a single member of WayV is Korean but their dorm is in Korea, and they live/train/work there. Lucas's scandal is one thing... but before his scandal, he and Winwin would go back and forth between Korea and China quite a bit, even throughout the pandemic. I think China is still tolerant of Chinese idols from Kpop groups as long as they're seen as "good" role models (in their eyes), and as long as they don't explicitly promote in Korean, they seem to be okay. For example, Winwin still frequently speaks Korean in his WayV contents, and the editors don't even make an effort to cut it out. But despite that, and his very clear role in NCT127 in the past, he's currently shooting his first c-drama as an actor (which is v. exciting for Winwin stans). Also, he and Lucas/Ten went through vigorous quarantine several times, so it's not impossible.
What I will say is that you're right about Guanlin's lawsuit... I forgot that he filed one against Cube... and if that's still being worked out, then that's definitely a reason not to return... I just wish that he hadn't severed ties with the SK industry in the first place, even though Cube is apparently a shit company according to Cube stans. He was well-liked there and if WayV is anything to go by, it is still possible to be an idol in both countries without having to burn a bridge.

guanlin not showing is just going to further drive home the stereotypes of chinese/taiwanese/hk idols being "unfaithful"... like, im sure hes busy with his own schedules, but isnt everybody? if i were him, i would make every effort to attend a group reunion... wannaone was what gave him the fame and success he's had today...

Hyo should be there… She didn’t kill her scalp for ten years for that slander
honestly, hyoyeon's scalp is a medical mystery.
like... some people bleach their hair ONCE, and their hair becomes really damaged. how she's managed to stay that colour of blonde for 10+ years without irreversibly damaging her skin and hair is perplexing. like... we never even see her roots

her case is one of the saddest i've ever seen tbh
some of this is speculation, but honestly, YG is probably to blame for a lot of this. on top of korea's naturally unattainable beauty standards and the misogynistic entertainment industry, 2NE1 received a lot of shaming for how they looked from YG himself and likely their management as well. to have the people that are taking care of you tell you that you're ugly over and over again when they were young and impressionable probably caused them to attach an unnecessary amount of value to their appearance, and for a lot of self hate to become embedded within them when they realized that they didn't fit the mould. i feel like bom unfortunately never was able to free herself from that, and for things to get to this point, there are probably other factors involved that are quite frankly none of my business.
at this point, it's not even about the plastic surgeries anymore - i just genuinely wish her well and hope that she has a good support system around her, with people that respect her as a person, and that she is able to seek help if she needs it.

It’s interesting how all of the Korean fans are celebrating Lucas not being in the season greetings and all of his oversea fans are throwing a fit.
I can’t really see him returning to WayV without ruining their chances in China, but I wouldn’t be surprised if SM still kept him in NCT and have him only participate in the yearly group comeback or maybe NCT U stuff?
I can almost guarantee you that little to none of these netizens are actual nctzens, let alone wayzennies.

He really needs to make an OF. He would literally make 100k a year, at least. And it’s not much different from what he’s doing now tbh

mnet is a huge company and will give them so much promo that they'll have public recognition through sheer exposure LOL
i remember people thought similarly about izone at first too, but then they kept dropping bops starting with la vie en rose and then everyone hopped onto the hype train. im not sure if kep1er will be able to produce popular idols like wonyoung, sakura, or minju, but i think they'll at least have mild/decent success.

I'm surprised. For once, it seems like SM let their artist write their own apology - this actually sounds like her, unlike Lucas or Irene's letters they posted on Instagram. Everyone will have to make their own personal decision as to whether or not they want to keep supporting her, and it's not my place as a non-black person to accept the apology on behalf of the black community. However, I do believe that everybody has made social transgressions at some point in their life and everyone deserves a chance to learn and do better. I also do believe that Giselle slipped in the moment and wasn't thinking.
If she took the initiative to request SM to let her write this and apologize like I think she might have - then I'm glad she did.

Oh F#3 is fair? I’d personally go with G3/G#3-C5 tbh. I haven’t heard off C5’s and she doesn’t seem to struggle with them either lol.
I'm not sure, I don't think I've heard every clip of ningning singing live so maybe you're right, G3/G#3 is safer. A lot of her C5s during Forever era were pretty shallow and not too great. But sometimes they're effortless for her, which is weird xD my fav clip of her singing, where she sang SES's Just a Feeling was removed for copyright... but here's a reupload:

As of right now she's sitting at a F#3/G3 - B4/C5
I think ningning has F#3/G3-B4/C5 too, with some inconsistencies, but also some potential up for C5/C#5. personally, i would put her slightly above seohyun and jessica, and this is coming from an snsd STAN and someone who has ult biased jessica for years. seohyun and jessica aren't 100% consistent up to B4/C5 either. jessica has long struggled with nasality and placement issues, and seohyun has inconsistencies too - she can be quite throaty and her mix can be even lighter than ningning's a lot of the times. personally, i also think ningning's head voice is more developed, at the very least more than jessica's. granted, we havent seen ningning sing as much as jessica or seohyun, but at the same time, you could look at it from the perspective that ningning has only debuted for less than a year and hasnt had the same amount of time to demonstrate improvement.

Ok but how could this happen…? Was he not wearing underwear?
Those shorts are so short, they’re literally right up to his crotch. And on top of that he’s not wearing underwear and shimmying his legs in front of the camera like…
Wonho is a grown man and he constantly posts bait pics of his ass and bulge, I think he knew what he was doing.

I like them, they all have support as expected. I enjoy this approach more than her more heady one. I'm curious where would you rank her? I've been throwing around higher AA and potential AA-P but never seen you rated Li Yin.
hmm... I'm actually not sure xD from what we reviewed so far, and after revisiting her singing, I would say she supports down to G#3/A3. She has shown she can maintain tonality down to E3 and doesn't lower her larynx too much below G#3. She has a connected and developed head voice, and has shown consistently nice head voice up to F#5/G5, although she does have some nice G#5 and A5 head voice moments. Consistency in her mix is really holding her back, but she supports up to B4/C5 regularly. Support on some C5s, and on C#5 can sound really thin at times because of how little chest voice she chooses to use, but she does have quite a few nice C5s and even C#5s when she sings with a more balanced mix. So I think I would give her C5/C#5 at her prime. It's rare that she can support D5 or above, so I don't think I would give her anything above C#5. So in my opinion, I think she has G#3/A3 - C5/C#5 - F#5/G5 (although I'm open to differing opinions based on what I've shown in this thread recently!). I'm not sure where she would be in the ranking though, cus I don't remember the criteria xD But based on what I've seen discussed from you and others, I agree with you, I think she's around the top of AA or low AA-P at her best...

Okay I lied, I'm not done with my girl Liyin yet.
I don't think I need to provide timestamps here because this clip is just 1min long and she sings 15,000 B4s in this song lmao. but her B4s in the last chorus @1:07 onward sound great. even her "XIE XIE!" at the end sounded supported lol

The videos are nice, her tone is very elegant. But, she would really benefit from balancing out her mix with some consistency (being more chesty throughout). Sometimes it really affects her support overall and makes her voice thin, so she could sound so much rounder and projected if she just had more chest presence. I'd potentially move her up if she strengthened her mix and rounded out her sound.
Her mix doesn't sound very strong in terms of presence in these clips for example. Very pretty tone though
Yeah, those are definitely some of the performances where she used a really head-dominant mix throughout. In my previous post, I said she only ever pulls chest voice up to C#5/D5 after 2012, but she did do it on the odd E5 here and there, like here @2:40
also, I'm revisiting a lot of old liyin performances I used to be obsessed with, and I found this Bb4 @3:37. it was ringing true...
in fact, that was probably her best vocal night on record. it was also the night she sang the D5 i pointed out before @2:05.
absolutely eautiful head voice moments @2:09, @2:22, @2:52. and she belts 2 G#5s around @3:00.
more beautiful head voice @2:25 and @3:03
belted F#5s @2:43
she usually sings very light throughout agape, which is understandable since she has to stay in the 5th octave basically 75% of the song lol. but she added a little more to her D5 than usual @2:00
I think liyin easily has one of the most beautiful head voices of cpop/kpop female vocalists that i can think of. there are some that rival her like luna and wendy, but i dont think the gap between them is that big (for head voice*). she has a lot of great head voice moments throughout all these clips, and she seems very comfortable with her low notes down to G#3/A3. its her mix that's the problem... she clearly knows how to support since she's supported in the Bb4-D5 range before throughout the years, some of which ive pointed out in my recent posts, but the vast majority of the time she sings very, very light, and it affects her projection. like you said, if she rounded out her sound with some more chest presence, i think with a balanced mix she would be able to support C#5/D5 since it sounds easy for her to sing up there regularly. that being said, even though she sings with this head-dominant mix most of the time, it does allow her to stay very high in the 5th octave for extended periods of time. although her peers like taeyeon or wendy have a more balanced mix and support C#5/D5 more consistently, im not sure if i can imagine them singing a song like agape.
this should be my last liyin post in a while xD i feel like ive been spamming her contents recently LOL but i do honestly think that shes a really interesting and skilled vocalist that has been too often overlooked.

My god, I have not seen a song kick someone's ass so hard since Jessie J attempted to cover Listen, but it's even worse since it's her OWN song. I don't want to do too much since Chuu is a sweet girl, plus this song does not give the singer any time to take a breath. But this was a train wreck. I have second-hand embarrassment.
this was hard to watch.... but how could this happen? did she not practice the song even once? but its her own song, and it was a planned performance... :s
