perf-k The dance to NMixx's O.O is pretty underwhelming...
clevercactus replied to Iljin Oppa's topic in Music
I think its a bit messy. Especially the leg throwing part and the baila baila part. The choreography makes it hard for the dance to look somewhat uniform? -
Love it. Another solid song from StayC. It starts cool and hard with the synths and then turns into their trademark sweet melody. I didn't enjoy it at first when I watched the MV and then I watched their performance video and LOVED the song. I think the MV is too generic? With no exact theming and colours? Agree.

Ok the way I see it...the song has three acts. Act 1 and 3 are the same baila baila baila song. But Act 2 is a completely different stand alone song. Act 2 sounds like a great song. But there is nothing cohesive about Act 1 & 3 and 2 together. The beat change is also a bit messy? Absolutely.... people need to stop blaming IGAB and Next Level!! IGAB has a theme and melody that runs through the different segment (eg. The "Oh oh-oh-eh-oh" in the beginning and the "Oh oh-oh-eh-oh"" at the end) making the song cohesive with an extremely catchy and bright chorus "I got a boy meotjin". While Next Level's breakout section is more of a twist than a standalone song which makes the overall song cohesive, not to mention a very addictive quality to the song and cool beats. I'm inclined to agree.... Anyway, I think the girls are gorgeous and the Act 2 song is great. That should've been the debut song. Refreshing and happy. But this mishmash of a song right now.... its not even fun to listen to, unfortunately.

Same. It was amazing. Pure entertainment and fun.

Yeah fair enough. Next Level is like RV's Red Flavour almost. I guess I remember 2015 was the year Red Velvet dominated (after debuting in late 2014). I went to Korea that year and everywhere they were playing Dumb Dumb and Ice cream cake. And I mean... everywhere. Same with 2021 is Aespa's year (after debuting in late 2020). So I can see a similar pattern between the two.
-
I thought Aespa's trajectory in their first year is very similar to Red Velvet. Zero to little promotion Average lackluster debut (Happiness/ Black Mamba) Recycled old song (Be Natural/ Forever) Instant hit (Ice cream cake/ Next Level) Another hit (Dumb dumb / Savage) Having said that, I wouldnt say Black Mamba is a complete lackluster flop. It did get a lot of buzz and people talking about the storyline concept and kwangya (virtual idols whut?). Anyways, I'm excited to see what the future holds for Aespa.

I'm glad that this done. Chorong's name is finally cleared though damage has been done and Apink couldnt celebrate their 10th year anniversary without this shadow over them. This is the best way of handling bullying accusations. Through proper channels instead of responding back and forth over social media.

Said choreographer, Kiel Tutin, responded on his instagram (see pic below). Y'all need to chill with these accusations, can't throw around plagiarism accusation flippantly. Like he said, dance has a finite amount of moves. And if you want to be specific on whether it is plagiarism or not you can break it down: BP's dance involves isolation neck movement as they are going down into a bend/semi plié (neck movement done a lot by Michael Jackson and other artists) with their bodies facing mostly the back, while Aespa's dance involves shoulder movements and no neck isolation as they are going up with their bodies facing the front. Similar yes. But if you're a dancer and you actually try doing the moves, you know they are different moves and hence not plagiarism.
