[Tencent] Official PRODUCE 101 Season 1 Thread

if you are referring to the show, Lai Meiyun has some sort of popularity, but not as popular as the 'girl group models' like Xuanyi and Meiqi, nor the controversial ones like Sunnee and Yamy. If you want to be commented by people, whether you are too good to be true, or you are so bad that every one is scolding you. Jiangshen and Shiyin didn't get much screen time, and they are not good enough, so they are not quite popular. if you are referring otherwise, I dare say no girl groups in China are 'famous'. SNH48 (aka Shanghai48, affiliated to AKB48) is the most 'famous', but its public image is bad: poor strength, not hard-working, crazy fans, and a lot of people look down on them. So that's why the show was induced in China. SING is quite popular on B站 (B net, aka bilibli, Chinese version of niconico from Japan) even before the show. So what's B站?It's a quite popular video website among teenagers, featuring bullet comments and animes. But being famous on B站, doesn't mean being famous nationwide. B站 only draws attention of teenagers or 20-year-olds (like me, I know B net is famous but I hardly ever go there), but there are also the 30-year-olds, the 40s, the 50s. So SING is only known in a really small part (otherwise they wouldn't join the show right?) but not known nationwide. Not only SING, no girl groups make it, except snh48, but they have a bad reputation. -

http://tieba.baidu.com/p/5690204682 Here is the post that diss-ed Zhu Tiantian, you can have a look if you are interested. and there is a meme featuring the most un-welcomed five girls, but they've got a lot of fans in here and for the harmony of our community I think I'd better not post it LOL -

Chaoyue. Not many girls like her, because they think she's always crying and a bit fake. And that 'village pride' stuff is a drama. But some time later it seems like everything she said is true, although they seem like fake. She is really the pride of her village, a photo of her and her villagers justifies this. And that 2000 yuan notice (通告 in chinese, you can understand it as an variety show, in fact I dunno what 通告 really means either) is also a fact (a video is found to be proof). So many people begin to fall in love with her, and her popularity has always been top 10, you can see it from the votes. Sunnee. OMG she's one the contestants that have most haters lol. I am surprised when I see the comments on Youtube that most of it are praises. The reasons are threefold: 1 she's not good looking as Xuanyi or Meiqi 2 she beat Xuanyi twice so Xuanyi's fans really hate her 3 she always steal the screen Zixuan. You mean Li Zixuan? At the beginning people think she's not good looking enough to be center. Do you remember the scene that she's too shy in front of Ella so that she has to wear sunglasses? They think Zixuan is the champion of another talent show åŠ æ²¹ç¾Žå°‘å¥³ (Seungri from Bigbang was also in that show) so it's impossible for her to cry like that so it must a drama. My personal opinion is she's more cute than pretty, and I love her accent. Tiantian. You mean Zhu Tiantian? She's also the one disliked most. There are three points: 1 she went up from 60th to 40th (in terms of vote) in one night, which means someone had spend money to keep her safe. 2 she was late for the rehearsal. 3 she's too fake when she's crying, and her 人设/character setting is quite different from another talent show å¿«ä¹å¥³å£° Sunshine. Actually they were quite 'famous' on the internet, known as 'the ugliest girl group' and everyone was making fun of them. This time, the show was bad as you can see. But I heard that they actually prepared a lot and the song they prepared was not allowed to sing by Tencent so they had to sing å°é’é¾™. and the reason why they didn't wear makeup before the stage is also that the staff did't let them do this. It is obvious that Tencent just use them to do a 炒作 (hype-up in English I think?) and besides that, Wang Qing said in her fan group that 'standing by their(sunshine) side is just reflecting my beauty'. Because of this many people critisized Wang Qing and felt sorry for Sunshine. But anyway, as this show proceeds, more and more people will forget Sunshine. Sad but true. -

haha actually I know that, but in China, especially on the Internet, it's very rude to call someone 'banana', so I just wanna make sure of it. -

粉ä¸: fans. A transliteration. but K-pop fans tend to call themselves é¥, I don't know why. Like fans of EXO called themselves 行星é¥, meaning fans of planets. Because EXO is originated from the word exoplanet so they call themselves è¡Œæ˜Ÿé¥ é¥åœˆ: fan zone. The group where fans accumulates, especially Kpop fans. 黑: haters/trollers. Actually I think the word hater is so serious. Sometimes when someone 黑 somebody they maybe 'really hate on them', or 'just wanna say something bad' or even 'I'm his/her fan, I just wanna make a meme or I'm just kidding' 路人: a passer-by, meaning I'm not their fan and I don't hate on them either, I'm in a neutral position. Opposite to é¥åœˆ. Like Xuanyi and Meiqi (including Chengxiao) are quite famous in fan zone, but outside of it not many people know them (before the show) 剧本; script; drama. I think drama is more commonly used? Like many people think Chaoyue has a 剧本(drama), that her crying and the 'village pride' are something written/fake that sorf of thing. 人设: character setting; public image. Like someone is humble and conserved in public / on TV but in private he is very rude. That humble side is called 人设/ public image è´´å§; you already know that 豆瓣: a film/book forum, where white collars / big city girls gathers, the majority are girls. Chinese version of imdb 虎扑: a basketball forum, my fav forum. Most are teenage boys. -

oh I think of another artist who has a strong Hunan accent, å¼ è‰ºå…´ï¼ˆZhang Yixing, aka Lay from EXO, he's also called é•¿æ²™å°éª„傲 in China, which means the little pride of Changsha, Changsha is the capital city of Hunan)He and Li Zixuan are two artists that has really strong accents that everyone knows where they are from as long as they start to say something LOL I will answer your question in my next post cause I want to make sure some "terms" used in Chinese to be translated correctly so that I can express more explicitly -

Yes! this is a quite accurate video! besides that you can actually tell which region she's from. when you say 音 (yin in pinyin, sounds like the Eng- part in English), if you are from north, the sound is like being pronounced by your teeth and lips, but if you are from south, the sound is like being pronounce by your base of tongue and throat. As for Kimberly, she sounds like Taiwanese to me when she speaks Chinese, not that like American or Australian. and she once said in an interview that she didn't even know how to say Chinese when she started to debut in Taiwan. Check this out -

I love that "stalking" word haha. Actually yes! There is a post that translates the contents in this post and I was attracted by that. Wang Yiran is also my pick. I was there for Xuanyi but Wang Yiran did an amazing job! btw could you please teach me how to skip the pages? like I'm in page 4 now and I wanna skip to page 14, how can I do that? -

yah! for sure she's got hunan accent, just like me (I am also from Hunan), it's hard to tell verbally like you can't explain to people the difference between American accent and England accent through writing. I'll try my best. You know there four tones in Chinese right? when you say 去, it is a "drop" tone (I dunno how to say that in English, so please correct me at any time). But if you let a person from Hunan say 去, they tend to pronounce like 区域 in a really fast way. To put it simple, the fourth tone is a total "drop" tone in mandarin, but it's "drop and then take off" tone in mandarin with Hunan accent. I dunno whether you get it or not, but its quite fun anyway. Every time when I hear her speaking I feel nostalgic LOL -

Hi there! Do you mean "Da Juan" when you are saying "Da aoun"? That girl that really can sing? and Show luo for Luo Zhixiang, the mentor? I need to know some of their English names LOL. Actually I think Kimberly and Mimi are both great but girl groups are not suitable for them (no offence), maybe they should consider making a single debut (I know Kimberly has already debutted as a singer in Taiwan) Hi there! it depends on which part of China you are from LOL. like in the southern part of China like Taiwan, HK, Shanghai and where I was born and raised, Hunan Province, people tend to pronounce zh ch sh like z c s. People from north tend to pronounce zh ch sh as they are. So guess your mom is from the south btw your profile photo is epic! Lv Xiaoyu is so cuuuute and she's from 芒果娱ä¹, which has something to do with Hunan tv, so I kind of emotionally related to her LOL -

Hi guys, I found this forum in PD 101 tieba (贴å§, if anyone of you guys know this, like Chinese version of reddit)by accident and I am super happy that you guys love this show LOL and also I feel surprised when you guys are talking about the girls (I don't even know them before the show, except SING). My pick is Wang Qing, Yang Chaoyue, the three of SING and Ju Lin (that Germany-Chinese mixed girl). Curious where you guys are from? I'm Chinese myself (born and raised in China), so if you have any question you can ask me at any time
