  1. We're finally dragging Sakura? Bring down the Taylor Swift of Japan! So in the end it's 39 48G girls and the rest are Koreans except for a few foreigners? In that case I doubt they can make the line-up half and half. All VS All> Should be fun.
  2. I'm actually surprised that Sakura is getting this popular in SK. I never actually got her appeal in AKB, so this is like throwing salt in the wounds to me lol Her appeal though... saying she wants to go into a place where her fans aren't with her... she knows people will vote for the girls, right? Don't worry, apparently you can post up to 4 posts in a row as we can see in this page!
  3. But isn't 6/6 also a bit tricky? Don't we have trainees from China, Thailand and the like? What about Japanese trainees not from the 48G (if there's any)? Do they count towards Japan or Korea? I agree that having parity between the countries is the best approach, but if there's one or two Chinese voted in, maybe they should leave it at an odd number or something. --- As for the whole Undergirls / Next Girls / Upcoming Girls won't work here. That is used in AKB because they have over 300 members and once a year the fans vote FOR ONE SINGLE, not for every release. Plus, coordinating the schedules of the 5 or 6 girls that make the final group is already going to be a mess if they come from different groups (Kojimako from AKB, Jurina from SKE, Miru is from NMB, Sakura is from HKT...) because they have their own releases, their own events PLUS AKB events where they all participate. If they get more, it's only going to complicate things more. --- The theatre is a waste of money. It'll not happen. Or at least, not in the way AKB has it with almost daily shows. They might arrange something with a venue for a once a month performance, but more than that... doubt it. The handshake events are to be expected though, that's where the money comes from.
  4. I think there will have to be a lot of coordination between AKB and Mnet for releases and stuff. And we've already seen some of that: The election single usually comes out at the end of August, but they have announced that this year it'll come out in September (I bet on the first week). With P48 finishing at the end of August (if it has 11 episodes, as usual) it can only but help the AKB single itself, since it's almost a given that Jurina and Sakura will be in the final group. From then on... we'll see. But yeah, the Produce group will have to work in between the 48G releases. There is no way their management is going to let whatever fame the girls get not be funnelled back into their own groups.
  5. AKB doesn't do comeback singles because they never go anywhere. The newest single was announced two weeks after the release of the last one, so... lol That's a Kpop concept (which I never understood, tbh. It's not as if groups are gone for years like Utada Hikaru did). TODAY GIRLS That was so random that I can't help supporting her. Sad that Azusa and Cocona seem to have dropped out, but I guess it's not for everyone.
  6. I'll probably won't learn any names from the Korean side until half of them are gone, tbh lol She ranked in the AKB election for the first time last year, but... at 76 (out of 80). In the last two singles, she's been included in these "young members only" lineups, so I'd say management likes her and wants her to do well, but they aren't going out of their way to promote her. But... nah, she barely sells out her handshake slots. Produce 48 might be her break.
  7. I'm so surprised (in a good way) of all the pictures we're getting from just 5 minutes in the streets for so many girls. Being a fan of the 48 groups is synonym of getting used to crappy head shots of them where they look nothing similar to their real selves.
  8. Mostly because she was getting the most buzz even before this? She was rumoured as the center though. She isn't the best dancer nor singer of the 48 side, so I'm surprised she got to be among the top among the whole 96 girls.
  9. Which is exactly what they needed when they are going head to head in the AKB election in like a month. I wouldn't be surprised if AKS pulled strings to make Sakura center. She isn't particularly known for dancing well and Japanese idol singing is... well, not good.
  10. I mean... if you do a reveal like that and let people help you, chances are the dress is gone. ANYWAY I am LOVING Season 10. It really might be my favourite in the end, because there hasn't been a dull moment yet and I can't believe we are halfway through it. And because we're in a drag craze, I, of course, have been going to lots of drag shows. Last month I saw the Twisted Circus, and I think my favourite performances were Kim Chi's even thou she barely dances. Two weeks ago I saw Sharon Needles, who sang her own songs live and spilled lots of T. Last Friday I saw Trinity Taylor and Vander Von Odd do some creepy club kids performances. And yesterday I went to the first Nightgowns (Sasha Velour) out of NYC. That last one was probably my favourite one. Such a display of different types of drags, live singing, splits, dress reveals and whatnot. My discovery of the weekend is obviously Vander Von Odd. So now I have to get my act together and watch Dragula!
