  1. As far as I know, she had beef with the other girl drafted into Team K back in 2013, Shimoguchi Hinana. Here's a letter of Hinana talking about it in very broad terms. I don't know about AKBINGO beef though (maybe it's the same?).
  2. It all depends on how many tickets you get for a member. For the most popular ones, you'll be lucky if you have 1 (10 seconds), but for others you might be able to have 6, 10, or whatever and have a full conversation with them. The girls have a certain amount of slots depending on their popularity. Some can have 6 in a day (9 hours) and others might just have one (1.5 hours). I doubt the final P48 group will use that system though. If they want to promote all the girls equally, they'll provably give each of them a few hours and that's it.
  3. I guess? Thing is, in AKB the most popular girls are harder to get because everyone wants to see them (Sayanee, Jurina, Sakura, Sasshi, etc.), while if you apply for the lesser known girls, you'll get as many tickets as you want. There was a mod on Stage48 who got a whole slot (90 minutes) for one of the members. They even brought him a chair lol My bad. Can't English today. Although this is probably the most Vivian can aspire to lol
  4. That AKB has a theatre and perform there almost every day. And whenever they release a single/album, they include handshake tickets with them to propel the sales. The theatre with just 12 girls is impossible, so I'd say they'll just use the handshakes and 2-shots to make people buy more copies of their releases.
  5. It all depends on how much they show the girls so the viewers can get to know them. Ikumin is a killer dancer and could go far if she isn't relegated to a background blurry person. Miyu has the voice. Vivian, Chiyori and Noe are fireballs. If the edit is somewhat fair and shows them in a favourable light, it could do wonders for them. At least more than performing a b-side in the AKB48SHOW at 1am, that's for sure. Hashimoto Kanna's career to take off thanks to a single picture going viral, so nobody knows where or what might give them the chance of their lives. Maybe it's Produce 48, maybe not.
  6. Are the political issues that important to the young-ish people who are, basically, the majority of the voters? Heck, seeing how welcome the Japanese girls were, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually have an advantage even if they aren't up to scratch skill-wise. Everyone loves an underdog story. The Japanese girls are in a strange environment (another country, another language) and subjecting themselves to a training they're not used to (we'll see some of them improve lots), so... yeah. I know it's less than ideal, but I think it's best to look on the good things since the show is probably gonna give us plenty of bad ones with their edits.
  7. The problem with the quota is that is flawed from the beginning. Why did they just cast 96 girls? Cause it's 48 x 2. Are there 48 Japanese girls and 48 Korean girls? No. There are 39 Japanese on one side and , 55 Korean and 2 Chinese on the other. So those 39 fight for half the group and the other 57 fight for the other half? Is that fair? No. If the ultimate goal of the show is to create a group that gathers the best of the best of both sides, well, this is it. I am salty about the Japanese not being able to vote though. But let's be honest, the result would have been what we see in the AKB SSK if that was the case. I doubt the AKB fandom in Korea is that big, hence why I believe the playing field is more evened now for the Japanese girls.
  8. No, this is BS. Out of the 39 Japanese girls, more than 20 of them have never been in an AKB senbatsu and never appeared on TV out of AKB shows. And one could argue that SKE, NMB and HKT get a lot less promo than AKB itself (Music Station and the like). So... no. They all have debuted and they have work going, they participate in handshake events and perform in the theatre. But when it comes to chances and opportunities? AKS has like 3 fav children and that's it. Going into P48 was like a start from zero for almost all of them. If you take Jurina, Sakura, Miru and Kojimako (I expect the four of them in the final group), the rest are playing an even field at this point.
  9. Then she has better Korean fans lol Bottom line is, people are not jaded of the Produce franchise as they are of AKB. Nekkoya was viewed a lot more than Teacher Teacher. Etc.
  10. Or he sent them exactly because of that reason? The Japanese girls have seen more buzz around them with just one press conference and one performance than they've received in Japan for years. Kojimako getting a banner for her birthday in the subway? When will Japan?!?! lol If the show is a tool for AkiP to measure how much the Koreans are ready for the 48G, I think it's best to leave it as "free for all". If there is a high percentage of Japanese members in the final group, he'll see they aren't being rejected and he might start pulling strings for a 48 ISG over there. Until then...
  11. Exactly. Plus, it was never an even field. 39 Japanese girls VS 51 Korean VS 2 Chinese? It's a great promotional machine for the 48G, and that's great. If one or two of them (Sakura and Jurina, duh) get into the final group, well, better for them? Although they're gonna have to juggle between three groups and two countries and be overworked to exhaustion, but work.
  12. I like that there's no divide. Let the fans decide the lineup and that's it. Imagine if 2 or 3 super talented Korean (or Japanese) girls are out just because they need to have space for a sub-par girl from the other side? Nah, that's not fair. Now...
  13. What I find funny is that some fans get so worked up about the show and demand things to change... when this was filmed over 6 months ago lol I love Cracker, but she wasn't better than Kameron in that lip-sync. And her evil twin look was... meh. I wish she could have been able to make her vision a reality. I was expectng Asia to win this though, but I guess the bone mask was good enough for Aquaria's. Now... the finale was filmed on Friday and I can't wait to see that shit show live. And speaking of live shows:
  14. Acchan hyperventilating will forever be a mood. I have yet to watch the latest one. I think it was never subbed. *sad* I can't wait for this show to start for us actually have a proper shitstorm. These karaoke videos are cute, but they're... boring after the second one. GIVE ME FIV.. DRAMA!
  15. No, he can't. The Japanese members who get into this group will have a concurrency for 2.5 years, but what after that? If they announce that they are creating Seoul48 or something, they will have to get a whole generation of Korean girls with whom the fandom is not going to be accustomed to. Oh, I loved Sakura on the show, so I'm gonna follow this completely new group just because! It just won't work like that. Surely, they can send a Japanese member like they did with Harugon in JKT, Rina in BNK and Abemari in TPE, but I doubt it'll be one of the current girls on the show. Kojimako seems to be the one most invested in K-culture, but she's 20 now... would she stay that long? Their only hope is Goto Moe, as she's currently 16 and seems to be getting a good response from Korea.
  16. AKB48 - Original group in Akihabara, Tokyo SKE48 - First sister group in Sakae, Nagoya NMB48, second SG in Namba, Osaka HKT48, third SG in Hakata, Fukuoka NGT48, fourth SG in Niigata STU48, fifth SG that covers not one city, but the 7 prefectures around the Setouchi sea. All the groups have their own theatre (STU's is on a boat) and release their own singles with HS events. They all participate as well in AKB HS events and their most popular members also appear on AKB singles. It's easy, really!
  17. Sigh... The Flying Mountain, by Christoph Ransmayr.. Calling a Wolf a Wolf, by Kaveh Akbar. Soho, by Richard Scott. Fire and Fury, by Michael Wolff The Good Inmigrant, by Nikesh Shukla. I really should focus on one for a while, I am carrying all 5 in my bag everyday and that's a lot of weight.
  18. Yeah, there is always something else coming up in the 48G. Watch them use Janken to decide the center of the group by their 2nd release or something lol I wouldn't be surprised if the P48 Korean girls were added to some AKB events and concerts to try and pull in the Kpop fans in Japan. I'm sure they will go to Kouhaku this year, since last year they got Morning Musume and lots of other groups. But that's a lie. There are not 48 girls competing for Japan, so that's already out of the window. Maybe it was their initial plan when they released that statement back in November, but ideas change. And it looks like they have. The two triangles can mean anything? Produce + AKB? Japan + Korea? Maybe it means nothing and they just put two triangles because they didn't have time to make four. Who knows.
  19. But selecting 48 would just eliminate... half the girls? How depressing it would be to be in the 50% of the eliminated girls, instead of the 90% lol In the end I think it won't be much different from the previous seasons: - 11 girls (12 at most) - Korea-only voting - 5 concepts for the last episode(s) Aaaaaand that's it? Once they release stuff they can add the whole handshake events thing to keep the 48 bit of it, and call it a day.
  20. I would love if the Japanese girls who get into this are not the "expected" ones (aka Jurina, Sakura, Mirurun). I do want Kojimako in the final lineup. She seems to have plateaued in Japan and this is the biggest chance she'll get out of AKB. So I really hope she snatches it and it works wonders for her. If she doesn't rank in senbatsu this year, hopefully this will keep her in business (and make her rank next year?). As for the number of the final group... I have no idea anymore. Now that we know that there are only 39 girls from AKB, what is the point of having 96 girls and not 101? There is no parity between the two countries, so what's the point of making it look they are 48 x 2? My guess is that they will keep things the same as in S1 and S2 and it's an ALL vs ALL, no matter the country and so on. They might bump the slots up to 12 girls, because 12 has been historically the number AKB used for their media-senbatsu back in the day, but if the line up ends up being 7 Korean, 1 Russian and 4 Japanese, that'll be it. Which is fine by me. Really hoping we have something like 1. Jurina 2. Ogiyuka 3. Dasu 4: Sakura Just to add to the mess this show is gonna be.
