I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with that though, Japan is more forgiving of flaws. Singing, Looks, personality. That's why Japanese singers are so diverse in singing style and in looks. I quite like it actually.

People just have different taste.

 

At the beginning of the 00's, the biggest artists were Ayumi Hamasaki and Utada Hikaru.

Both couldn't have more different voices, and yet both had incredible success.

AKB48 SH meant nothing. There was supposed to be TPE48 too but the project is on the verge of cancellation as no sponsor thought there is a market for the group = no money = debt.

 

There IS a TPE48 and some of their members participated in the World SSK like over a week ago, so... Â¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

 

And the number of girls auditioning for Team SH is quite big, so I wouldn't call it nothing.

The fact that it has kept the AKB name makes me think they are going to have a much closer relationship with the motherland in Japan than the usual international SG (automatic participation in SSK, for example?).

Starts with Takamina (lots of people don't know she was the original center for the two "unofficially" independent singles) -> Maeda Atsuko -> Jurina -> Paruru/Mayuyu/Oshima -> Sashihara (from her SSK win) -> Kojima Haruna (who only got to center late her in career) -> back to Mayuyu -> finally to Sakura who is supposed to take the reins of 48g.

Nobody here ever said that Sakura deserved A for her audition.

 

But everybody here (except you) said that she deserved her A after re-evaluation. (Did you even watch her re-evaluation and try to compare that with everyone else?)

 

And Nekkoya center is picked from A-ranked trainees after re-evaluation. But your first reply to me indicates that you think Sakura being center is because she's an A after audition, not re-evaluation.

 

And you keep harping about Miyu being A in audition, when it doesn't correlate with Sakura getting an A in re-evaluation.

 

That makes me wonder if you have ever watched Produce at all? You didn't seem to know the difference between audition/initial evaluation vs re-revaluation?

 

This is why I said you didn't read, or that you don't seem to bother to read/understand.

I think it’s very clear that there are some sort of ‘deals’ happening behind the scene, especially with the centers. They (Mnet/AKS) clearly had these whole stories set up for their trainees (Kaeun for her hiatus narative and Sakura for ‘hard working, X factor aura things) as a push for them to make it to the final line up. At least that’s my thinking since up until now everything about them is off lmao (Kaeun is rather bland despite her obvious talent and Sakura’s undeserving initial A auditon).

 

That's the thing, Sakura has been pushed as the next big thing in Japan and I doubt AKS would let her be shown as anything but extraordinary.

 

They did everything in their hand to let Jurina win the SSK, so they probably greased Mnet's palm to let Sakura have this.

You said you tried not to be petty but you wrote this about Sakura not deserving an A. But we are not talking about her first audition anymore, we're talking about re-evaluation where she did great and possibly among the top 5 best performances.

Facts are facts, and opinions are opinions.

 

In my opinion, she didn't do better than Jurina nor Miru.

 

And again, if they want to push the narrative of Sakura doing well, of course they're going to show her killing it in the re-evaluation.

 

And they will keep portraying her as one of the best among the Japanese for the time being because that is the storyline they have for her.

 

And I will keep saying "lmao fake" and I'll keep watching.

 

It's just a TV show, it's not supposed to be taken this seriously.

I don't think AKS care that much. I think he cares more for the exposure produce can bring to AKB.

 

Ep 1-4 storyline was written by mnet base on the trainees actions and their popularity before the show. So if the trainees gave them good drama then they would use it. Just think of Sakura/Jurina/Gauen as the somi/nuest/p101centers of pd48. In s2 Daewhi got a LOT of screen time in ep1-4 because he was the Nayana center. Of course no one was saying it was Daewhi101...he was outshined by Jihoon.

 

Yeah, but Sakura and Jurina can't fail too badly at this because then you'd have comments like "How an a girl so bad be the center of this group?" and so on.

Basically, all the popular girls in AKB got more or less a favourable edit. Even Tomu, who sings like a dying cat lmao

Center isn't picked up from A-ranked class after the first audition though, but after re-evaluation. It DOESN'T MATTER if you get an A during audition, what matters is the re-evaluation and Sakura earns that spot by probably being one of the best during re-evaluation.

 

I'm not even a Sakura fan, but this is just bordering petty for you.

We know these shows are scripted to a certain point (hi, Drag Race!) and when there are such high stakes involved (AKS getting their hands into the Korean market) is obvious that strings are going to be pulled.

 

I just wish she had done a bit better so those strings weren't as visible. 

Except she did give a great Performance and maintained her rank fairly, point blank.

The judges themselves said they went with an A because they saw some potential in her, and she proved that at re-evaluation where she maintained her rank through hard work.  If she didn't work hard then and gave a sub-par Performance, then fair enough they made a mistake but that wasn't the case. 

 

I understand if people don't agree and even I as a Stan will admit that I didn't think her initial Performance wasn't on par with some of the others who received an A rating, but I don't understand why people are so fixated on this. We've all seen her in the Nekkoya Performances and she really shined there, she's just going to keep improving and getting better, I think Sakura is really benefiting from a Kpop style of training, don't underestimate her. 

 

 

Even if she had not done a proper performance during re-evaluation (of course they'd only show her doing well), I doubt they would have moved her from A.

 

When Mnet and AKS agreed to the show, they probably agreed on who they wanted to push the most.

They can't show Jurina nor Sakura under a bad light because they're among the biggest names in the group at the moment and nobody wants to see them fail too badly.

 

I am glad that Sakura has this opportunity and she's probably using the show to get comfort after the blow that was the SSK.

Again, I'm not mad she got in A, I'm disappointed at the editing lol

Well, she deserves it because the trainers see potential in her.

as you can see, she's working hard just to show the judges that they didn't make a wrong decision.

there's a lot of trainees in A that doesn't deserve there but sakura isn't one of them, she tried her best singing both korean & japanese whilst the other just focused on their comfort zone. so don't say that sakura doesn't deserve to be in A cause she deserves it.

also, if you're complaining about the evaluation, yes she can be in B, C, D, F but eventually the trainers will recognize her hardwork & talent. If you still can't accept the fact that sakura is in A then, exit stage left.

Knowing that Miyu goes down to C (which means she didn't do quite well), I thought it's actually quite smart for Mnet to preserve her image.

 

And IMO Sakura's story is needed because the first half of the next episode will focus on Nekkoya center position battle. She's the Nekkoya center, it's important for Mnet's own image that her progress is highlighted.

 

But then again, she wouldn't have been center if they didn't put her in A.

We have seen the same episodes and we have seen what type of skills the girls who go in A have.

And suddenly Sakura does an average performance and everybody is like wow?!!?

 

I don't care how many times they played her moves in slow motion, that wasn't more than a B or C.

 

But then again, the show needs one of the Japanese contestants to get to the final 12 and it needs it to be one of the most popular ones, so I'm not surprised at the sudden blindness/deafness of the judges, I just wish Sakura did better so it was a bit less obvious lol

 

They might start editing Miyu better for ep3 since she started getting attention too close to 2 airing. Agree I dislike how her A got glossed over because of the out of order editing Mnet did, it's obvious JuriSaku went before Miyu/Saho/Moe. But putting her in 1st so got people to notice her earlier so

 

Well, she seems to be holding her position in the rankings well enough, so I'm happy for that!

I expected one or two of the top Japanese girl to be protected by the show, but I really didn't expect it to be so obvious.
