Both Mahiro and Jyunhao went to Produce X 101 under the YG banner and were pretty much ignored, then left YGE and became trainees under OUI Entertainment, only to leave just a few months later while Seokhwa remained (and has just debuted in WEi, OUI's boygroup). I'm glad to hear they're finally debuting, it's being a chaotic journey for sure. If anything it looks like he and Mahiro have a pretty solid friendship since it's the second time they change companies together. Jyunhao's smile is his most charming point IMO so I'm kinda bummed he's not smiling on his concept photos lol.

[NB] SBS edits out Red Velvet's stage from "K-pop Concert"
reiichi replied to pinkpanda_spirit's topic in Netizen Nation
Mnet proving us that they can cut the main vocal out and still have a coherent performance to show on TV. TV shows have a ridiculous number of cameras filming the same stage so there'll always be an angle that doesn't show the person you want to cut out. -
You're blaming the victim of his asshole behavior for speaking out. You're a piece of shit.

Seriously if it's true and there's no one asking him to be removed from the group it'll just show that the ones who reacted so negatively to Chen's marriage news were just angry they now had zero chance to date him. I'll take everything with a grain of salt though, not saying that Chanyeol's a pure angel (chances are high that he is a womanizer, a lot of men just can't keep it in their pants), but the girl could very well lie about some things to paint herself as more innocent than she actually is.

[NB] Rage grows over Chinese idols supporting CCP propaganda
reiichi replied to lighterxx's topic in Netizen Nation
Idols still active in South Korea can politely refuse to make a post about this subject because they don't want to lose their right to work in Korea ? I'm pretty certain that if someone active in a South Korean group had posted anything like that they could have their work visa revoked. If we needed any further confirmation that the Chinese members aren't coming back to WJSN, this should be the one. -
[NB] Rage grows over Chinese idols supporting CCP propaganda
reiichi replied to lighterxx's topic in Netizen Nation
All of these idols have a family in China, that can be get targeted by the CCP if they refuse to participate in state propaganda. As you said they live under a dictatorship (only communist in name). They have NO CHOICE over this. If the CCP tells them "show support", they'll do it. -
A celebrity who would speak up about these issues wouldn't just lose their career, but put themselves and their families in danger as they'd be labelled traitors to the nation. China is a repressive dictatorship, if you want to just live peacefully there you have to keep your head down and not criticize authorities in any way. The doctors in Wuhan who were trying to raise an alert about the spread of a new virus just one year ago, were suppressed by the local government, when all they were trying to do was save people. Dilireba, one of the most famous actresses in China, is an Uyghur. And she hasn't said a word about the camps in which her own people are persecuted. If SHE doesn't say anything, of all people, how likely is it that anyone else in the Chinese entertainment industry does ? Maybe a few years ago there could have been celebrities speaking up on these issues, but ever since Fan BingBing disappeared for weeks after her tax evasion was revealed, the CCP has severely tightened its grip in the entertainment world, and celebrities have a huge pressure on them to appear as exemplary citizens. They will regurgitate state propaganda when told to, not because they believe it or support the government, because they're afraid of consequences if they refuse to. It's not just about keeping their career - it's about just... being safe. Honestly if I was in the Knetizens' place, the ones I'd call out are the Korean companies that try to make business in China and have to compromise with Chinese authorities for the sake of money.

Who do you think is a lesbian in kpop?
reiichi replied to Pyo Hyemi's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Unlike religion, sexual orientation is not a choice. Someone who's very religious and raised thinking that homosexuality is bad, is of course going to try suppressing whatever non-straight leanings they have. It doesn't make them straight, just repressed or self-hating (depending on how successful they're at suppressing their own thoughts). Also an article you could read to educate yourself : https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/feb/12/four-in-five-vatican-priests-are-gay-book-claims Stop spewing bigoted bullshit and get the fuck out this thread, you have nothing to do here. -
You can't really judge character just through an audition. You need to see how people behave in the long run... Once in though you'll get scrutinized as a trainee and if you don't fit the company's personality standard, you just get thrown out. The number one thing JYPE are looking for in people who audition is natural charm, or as JYP says, "star power". It's probable that IU didn't make that strong an impression when she auditioned, even if she obviously sang well and had the right demeanor.

We never hear from these again because by the time a court examines evidence and gives out their sentence (months if not years later), everyone has more or less forgotten the story, and the company has no interest in reviving whatever rumor was spread - especially considering they can't publicly reveal the identity of the culprit.

To me "fair" line distribution isn't just about the time someone gets in the song, but also about the impact of the parts within the song, and if it's a song with choreography you also need to take center time into account (notably during dance breaks). For example if you look at line distribution in Stray Kids' songs, Felix often has the least lines, but the way 3RACHA incorporate his voice into songs make most of his lines memorable. And as part of the dance line he's often featured prominently during choreography, so it never feels like he's getting shafted.

I'm not saying there's no problem, but it's more with the Korean mindset and has nothing to do with "child labor" (which could happen in smaller companies, but the big3 don't make any profit from trainees) : hard work is seen as more important than the end result, so even gifted teens that wouldn't need to clock in extra hours, do it anyway to show they're dedicated ; they get extra good and it pushes other trainees to do even more hours in order to catch up to them and have a chance at debuting. In most cases it's not even the company that pushes them to do it, it's just that the competitive mindset at work. The day Korea as a whole learns to chill, maybe trainees will stop training so many hours. For now it's just a small symptom of a much bigger problem, as illustrated by the Korean comments. They don't understand why people are scandalized, because that's how they're supposed to live themselves. In between regular school, cram school, and homework, a lot of high schoolers there clock in 12-14 hours a day of learning, week-ends included. It's time they spend in class and in textbooks, that trainees spend in practice rooms. And unlike trainees they don't do it to achieve their own goals, but to achieve their parents', who all want them to enter the same three prestigious universities in order to get the most well paid job.

[NB] 2PM's Nichkhun shows his support for protestors in Thailand

[NB] Stock forums become a graveyard of Big Hit losses
reiichi replied to My Everything's topic in Netizen Nation
Currently the stock price is just above 200,000 won, which is still higher than the IPO price of 135,000. A shit ton of people showed interest in the IPO, so the initial stock price was double the IPO price to reflect the demand it was facing. It went down as people who had bought at IPO price sold their stocks for profit. It's absolutely normal behavior coming from your average speculator and will happen after any successful IPO. In order to know what BigHit is actually worth, we need to wait a few weeks and see where the stock price stabilizes after the initial speculation period. If the price around 135,000 won, it means that BigHit's valuation for the IPO was appropriate. -
I for one like mullets (maybe because I grew up in the 80s) and while I'm not a big fan of the color here, I appreciate how long it is. I like guys with long hair in general, but for idols it's pretty hard to maintain because of all the bleaching they end up doing. Mullets are a practical in-between because they're pretty easy to achieve with extensions.

[YT] Comment war between knetz and international skz fans
reiichi replied to starsocks's topic in Netizen Nation
Honestly it's pretty tame compared to any kpop MV comment section. At least here it's just Stays hyping Changbin up and wishing him good luck on the show, not repetitive memes or anything actually annoying. But the backlash from Korean hip hop fans after that was strong enough that when the next teaser came out with Wooseok in it, Universes refrained from commenting in English on the Youtube video, and mostly hyped him up on Twitter.
