I understand your feelings about wanting and even needing to feel like we have some kind representation in Kpop on a big scale, but as almost every response has said, it would be cruel to out anyone.
If it happens to anyone who is currently active anytime soon we will probably see their career fall apart.
Seriously, look at Hyuna and Edawn. They aren't even gay and both fandoms have battered beyond all recognition.
Hyuna is a huge star. And Cube is clearly a huge box of assholes for this whole mess, but will she ever regain her full popularity or star power? I'm afraid not.
And Edawn is even farther up shit creek without a paddle. I'm sure that he and the other members of Pentagon are doing the best they can, but what is left for them now that the scandal has begun?
If he leaves the group will any of the fans stand by him if he releases solo stuff? Or if they stay together I'm sure that he will be getting some serious hate for "making the other members put up with his scandal"?
I don't know anything about Hyuna or Edawn other than that they had been dating for basically forever. I don't even like any of their songs so I have never followed either of them.
But I feel terrible for both of them and their fans about this situation.
I know that most of the fans who are having the biggest shit fit are the idiots who seriously thought they had some chance of dating either Hyuna or Edawn. But the damage has been done, even if they break up and apologize right now, for a lot of people it's already too late.
I have no idea how so many people who call themselves fans of these two can justify their toxic reaction to the news of them dating. They are grown ups and I wish they could be happy.
But these fans do feel betrayed and if it came out that someone that everyone thinks is straight was suddenly outed as gay, the shit storm wouldn't just be the anger of the fans or even just the company.
They would face a huge amount of backlash from the rest of the industry and it would probably be considered damaging to the country's cultural image and thereby even the government.
Obviously the outed person would have a lot of support from the international community and fandoms. But will it be enough? I hope so, but I doubt it.
HynuA's fans actually are supportive of her relationship ; she's been in the industry for more than 10 years, her fans aren't hormonal teenagers, but adults who accept that she's also one. And since HyunA and E'Dawn had been _very_ obvious during Triple H promotions, it didn't surprise many that they were dating (the most surprising part was for how long, basically they started to date before E'Dawn even debuted).
The people who have been shitting on HyunA lately (who are not her fans) are mostly siding with Cube for firing her, not because she shouldn't be dating, but because she decided to make her relationship public despite the company's opposition, and the damage it would cause to her boyfriend's career. They call her selfish for prioritizing her personal life over her career, because that's not what Korean society approves of.

Rather than Gyuri, I find Noe suspicious. It sounded like she fell hard for Gyuri and didn't realize it had "romantic" tone to it.
Chances are she's really not oblivious to it. Japan is not Korea, even if gay rights are not super advanced in Japan, society is actually pretty accepting of same-sex relationships, especially for teenagers. It's also a common topic in popular media (as in, same-sex romance is a staple of shoujo manga) so the level of awareness (and thus self-awareness) is pretty high.

Really? I heard some hardliners Jews actually quite homophobic too?
I have always thought Jewish culture is a lot of similar to its neighbors- like Palestine and its cohorts- and that one too is kinda known for being phobic.
Though I can sort of get it if most Jews, especially the moderate ones, are more hesitate about discriminating LGBTQ. After all they are one of those groups that had experienced discrimination just because of something they can't change, in fact going through genocide and being hunted down for that must have given them a lot of thoughts about the importance of love, acceptance and what discrimination is about.
I admit I don't have much knowledge about Jews and their religious affiliations tho, so I'm sorry if I made some hurtful remarks to some.
Fundamentalist Jews can be just as homophobic as their Christian or Muslim counterparts, however :
- Jewish fundamentalists don't proselytize and try to impose their views to non-Jewish people, because you're born Jewish (because you mother is Jewish), you don't convert
- Jewish fundamentalists tend to live in kinda closed communities and don't bother the rest of the world with their own views (as a result of the non-proselytizing)
- While fundamentalists exist, quite a lot of Jews are secular, and thus hold liberal views on what religion can dictate to them and society (secular people aren't necessarily non-religious themselves, but they think that it's a private matter)

Apparently 9% Youth is pushed back to March 2019

LOL OK BYE
I guess that if the date is THAT far at the very least they're sure of it ? As in, Yuehua has agreed on a schedule and will stick to it so they can finally promote as a group ?

Same tho. She could strangle me to death and I would say thank you.
On another note I was thinking about Hyuna and how everyone thought she is gay for sure but then Cube pissed someone off and they leaked that she is is dating E'Dawn since 2016. Yes I know bisexuality exist but my point is for the past two years people were coming with receipts of her being the queen of gays and saying there is no way she could date a man. Idk it just makes me wonder how unpredictable everything is since she was quite a few people's go to queer for sure. Like for all we know most speculated girls could be straight af and the gay ones aren't even talked in here. Sorry for the mini rant
I think that the reason why we see many more suspicious same sex interactions, is probably due to the fact that idols restrict themselves a lot from interacting with the opposite sex in public, because of how easily it leads to dating speculations. When two idols of the same sex act suspiciously around each other it's seen as fanservice, but when they're of the opposite sex it's interpreted as flirting, and some fans may get jealous.
Regarding HyunA I think it's related to her public image - she's strong, confident, dominant, which are seen as masculine traits, and thus make her more likely to be a lesbian. Personally I didn't believe it, saw her as bi at most because of the obvious chemistry with her partners in Troublemaker/Triple H (I really wouldn't be surprised if she was dating Hyunseung before E'Dawn).

90% LMAO Where is this coming from ? Because of his feminine/delicate & pretty look? His make up ?
I mean, I don't really care/know what's his orientation but I didn't find it hilarious ZZT having a girlfriend

Nothing to do with appearance (never has been a very good indicator, especially with idols), it's about his general attitude and interactions with other people.
It made me laugh because in the group he's the last one I'd imagine with a girlfriend. It's not funny by itself, but it made me go "why him ? anybody else would have been more credible."
-
So I don't know if you saw this but ZZT girlfriend was trending on weibo with Cfans digging upon it + of course YH denied it ^^
Am I the only one who just snickered reading that ?
I'm like 90% sure that boy is gay, so him having a girlfriend rumor, out of all the members, is kinda hilarious.

(sorry for the double post)
I totally agree with that, it makes a lot of sense. So what do you think about him always pushing the members away or him being a 'panicked gay'? Do you think it says anything about him? Like I said, he really pings me, even really low-key reminds me of myself before I knew I was gay. The way he reacts to other members close skinship or 'flirting' with him I find interesting, like that
Seungmin trapped him against the wall, I found his reaction kinda sus personally. I feel like he looked really flustered and shy, but not in a 'straight' kind of way if you know what I mean. I have no idea though I'm just ranting now lol, I could go on for longer. As I said, Jeongin is good at pretending and playing his role. It makes him very hard to read, we can't know for sure whether his reactions are genuine or calculated. Does he push the other boys away because he's genuinely uncomfortable, or because it's part of the character he has decided to play for the camera ? If it's the former, is the uncomfortableness because he's straight, because he's not comfortable with this type of invasion of his personal space (regardless of orientation), or because he's gay and struggling with it ? Really, too many questions, so I seriously don't know.

I think I might be the only one but stray kids I.N low-key pings me, anyone else have opinions?
I feel like he's kinda at that 'no homo' age cause he's totally a panicked gay but idk. There's not a lot of receipts for him it's mainly just a feeling. This isn't really a receipt but it's kinda cute, there was that time I.N said that whenever Felix hugs him his body loses all strength because it's so comfortable. (@ 4:35)
I don't know though, it could really go either way. Really no evidence or receipts to prove anything either way, of course it's like that when they're a bit younger.
I.N. is often babied by the other members, but thing is, he's not even six months younger than Han, Felix and Seungmin (who all turned 18 last month). I feel he's much more mature than he lets out - he's pretty good at pretending in general (see how he manages to keep a smile on even when struggling), so I suspect his childish side is mostly playing his maknae role.

Apparently (according to people on Twitter) he was just whispering "Jungkook, I'm hungry" into his ear, which is probably more likely, but it was still a weirdly intimate moment. Did he really need to get so close and turn his whole head into Jungkook's neck like that?
Jimin is the absolute king of fanservice in Bangtan so it wouldn't be surprising that he would do this sort of shit just to please the shippers.
But of course he's too comfortable doing it to be perfectly straight.

But the RG mess was finally solved and the group is promoting as OT11, no? So if it was only Yuehua it wouldn't make sense that they didn't allow the 3 Yuehua boys to promote with NPC when they're allowing Meixuan to promote with RG. Like I said, I think that at this point it's more like iQiyi doesn't seem to have interest in making the group happen. They're just using the group as a brand to promote the members individually and it's somehow working because for example Zhangjing is becoming really popular for his OSTs/vocal performances.
The RG mess was solved because the contract had been clear enough from the start, and had Yuehua not followed it, Tencent could have just blacklisted them and basically ruined them.
I feel that iQiYi basically renounced to whole group activities because negotiating with Yuehua was too exhausting for the benefit it would have brought them. Music is not where profit is, be it in China or Korea, but at least in Korea idols have to release music to stay relevant, and groups are more marketable than solo artists. IOI could exist for a few months as a single entity thanks to that, but in the end companies prioritized their own groups, just like Yuehua in the NPC/NEX7 case.
-
I don't think he receives good response thus, he isn't encouraging anybody to follow.
By the way, 'openly lesbian' may be used as gaybait marketing ploy and not real. When someone came out to tell the world she's lesbian, she's less likely to be one. At least this is how it is in my Asian culture.
Considering how backwards some Asian cultures are towards gays/lesbians, gaybaiting is not really a thing though ? Fanservice is a big thing in Jpop/Kpop, but it comes with the ambiguity of artists never actually coming out because most fans are straight people of the opposite sex. I mean, even a straight relationship will make a lot of fans turn their back on an idol because it ruins the boyfriend/girlfriend fantasy ; so coming out would have the same effect, just worse because of the additional prejudice.

Hosnetly I don't think iQiYi or whoever is managing them is interested in making them a music group. They're a group for brand value at this point. Every group activity that wasn't the fanmeets got postponed, they hinted songs and they were even practicing choreo and then nothing, the official Weibo posted some photoshoot bts but since then nothing. The members haven't been all in the same place in weeks. The FBB situation doesn't seem to be affecting NEX7 promoting that much, even tho FCC himself has been very lowkey lately. So who knows really? Most of the time the members themselves don't seem to know.
Or MAYBE, just maybe, it's because Yuehua is holding onto the NEX7 boys and doesn't give them enough time with the rest of NPC for the group to do anything significant together ?
With what happened to Rocket Girls I wouldn't even be surprised it's Yuehua's fault tbh.

I personally think homeschool is the greatest option any loving parents can give, especially when it comes to bullied kids, or kids with special circumstances. At least so far I never see homeschooled kids end up badly, most are successful and function normally as adults. Some even much better than adults who went to conventional school system.
Kinda off topic but :
Homeschooling is nice if it's supervised, but if it's not it is the perfect cover-up for abusive parents. In some US states homeschooling is absolutely not regulated, and often used by religious nuts to indoctrinate their kids.

Do you guys think that Stray kids can win ROTY ? They have strong competitors (I'm the more worried about G-idle)
Some awards shows have separate awards for male and female rookies. Also depends on criteria, for Melon it's all about digital sales so kinda hopeless, but for others award shows there's hope.

My problem with calling it a straight relationship is that it implies that a bi person is straight when they date someone of the opposite sex.
I can't pretend to be straight any more than a gay person can.
I grew up in the southern united states going to a church that told me I should be stoned (that sermon was led by my grandpa btw) for liking the opposite sex at all, not just falling in love with them.
I get that you haven't experienced it but some homophobes hate bi people just as much as they hate gay people.
I've experienced all types of homophobes and bi phobes that have different ideals and opinions about what or why to hate someone.
Yeah I could pretend to be straight but i would be a lie no matter who I was dating and it would hurt just the same.
Saying a relationship is straight, doesn't imply both persons in it are.

why this low quality fancam has more views than MCD Awkward Silence live performance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW1WuD933Z4
Why ? Because it's a BTS cover.

What's funny to me about things like this is everyone in the comments is screaming about their ship (not just Jikook, but saying Taehyung or Yoongi is ~jealous~), but so many of them go on thinking Jimin is straight outside of their ships. And then you have the non-shippers calling Jimin "king of fanservice." So when an idol does gay things, it's either because of ships or fanservice, never a reflection of him maybe not being het. That explains why, when someone posted a video of Jimin flirting with some American interviewers, it got so many comments telling them to take it down because it's "harmful to his career." Like the 9580428975 ship videos are fine, but one 3-minute video of Jimin waggling his eyebrows at an American interview is going to end him...because they couldn't explain it away with ships or fanservice.
Well Jimin has been fanservice king since debut (starting with showing off his abs in No More Dream) so I won't blame anyone who thinks he does this sort of thing just for fanservice. He's also mischievous and _very_ flirty, and probably just enjoys making people flustered just to tease them, whatever the gender.
So for me what he does on stage is clearly fanservice. But he's _way_ too comfortable with it to be perfectly straight.

I don’t think much of this but I found it interesting bc a lot of people find them sus (ps I’m not familiar with wanna one so if anyone has any receipts for daehwi I’d be interested to see)
Daewhi is the guy who got center position in Broduce by doing the girls' Pick Me, and whose most memorable stage moment in eleven episodes was blowing glitter at the audience (with Mnet's editor looping it for maximum effect). He's fabulous and sassy, has girly tastes and just... acts stereotypically gay all the time. He's very aware of the rumors, and doesn't seem to care.

I wonder if they'll have a vlive for Jisung and Felix tonight
They're performing in Berlin tonight so I doubt it.
(Almost got tickets for that show for a friend and me, but they weren't cheap and transport + accomodation made the option of a secondary market for BTS in Paris ticket more affordable...).

Even if it's because of them going against company wishes about going public with their relationship, it's still a disproportionate punishment. A cancellation of events and a small hiatus would've been enough of a punishment. It's not like they put pics of them being all coupley and kissing without Cube's notice, all they did was confirm a rumor (although I know it was not a smart decision to confirm it after Cube denied it). From what I've heard, Cube doesn't have a dating ban so it even makes less sense to kick them out.
Making the company look like fools was very risky and was bound to make some executives really mad at them. In a lot of jobs messing up with the company's image will make you fired, whatever the actual repercussions.

HyunA and E'Dawn are not being kicked out for their relationship, but for the fact that they made it public against the company's wishes. The news about Hyuna and E'dawn being kicked out got me pondering... if a heterosexual relationship is considered so problematic and possibly career-ending in this industry, how much worse would it have been for them if they were two same-sex idols who made their relationship public? I can't even begin to imagine how much worse the backlash would be.
I hope that after today I'll stop finding ignorant comments such as "if x kpop idol were gay they'd have come out already"...
The dating news themselves weren't really shocking, apart from a few Pentagon fangirls taking it badly everyone was like "well, that was obvious lol". The main thing is that young idols sell a boyfriend/girlfriend fantasy and thus are more marketable as single. Once they reach a certain age it's not a problem anymore, HyunA's fans didn't bat an eyelid.
Gay idols would be something else entirely. The biggest problem wouldn't be with the fans, but with the general public, because younger generations are way less homophobic then their parents.

jisung: straight or ace/aro never shows any interest in anyone and although he is babied by the members he is a 16 yr old boy and it's pretty unusual for them not to be into people? idk im not a 16 yr old boy but my step brother is lol
Jisung really strikes me as a Taemin clone in a lot of aspects, including an apparent lack of interest in anything not related to his craft. If he ever has suspicious interactions with someone, it'll probably be someone he bonds with over dance (just like Taemin with Kai).

Bang Chan is an interesting one for me. Probably straight but as many of these groups seem to make no public effort to date anyone outside their groups (or even expressly/fully openly within their groups) we're just left guessing based on mostly band interactions, hints and body language/looks. Sometimes that's enough to form an opinion on someone, but other times it might not be. So as you say it can be hard to really formulate a full picture, esp. if they are young.
Chan doesn't have anything suspicious in his interactions with any of his friends, and he has many (he's basically friends with anyone who trained at JYP at the same time as him, which, given his long ass training period, is a lot). So yeah, we're left wondering for him as well. He's very similar to Jackson in a way, he's a social butterfly but also spends way too much time working, so he doesn't have time for relationships (I mean he's made a song about his lack of sleep so...)

Which male idols do you think are gay?
in Celebrity News & Gossip
Posted
The seme/uke stereotype is one of the reasons why I distanced myself from the yaoi/BL scene (I used to be pretty active in it, participated in fanzines and such). I still have pretty strong shipping googles but seme/uke dynamics are like, hyper heteronormative, and I really can't with that.
Just like heteronormativity, gendered anything annoys me to a large extent - because in the end it's all about misogyny. Women embracing their 'masculine' side are celebrated, but men who embrace their 'feminine' side are mocked.
