Well if you're going to forbid us to talk about underage idols here, do the same in the shipping threads ? Because if there are people speculating wildly, that's in the shipping threads.

where in my post did I say sexual experiences of users? I meant experiences as a gay person. but go off I guess.
You were implying that the reason why we shouldn't discuss underage idols in this thread is that it could derail into discussing sex. I was just saying that it NEVER happens.

The discussion about sexuality can turn sexual very fast, and the line is very thin, therefore we as staff want to avoid any discussion that might be inappropriate as much as we can everywhere on the forum, be it here or The Bar. If there are underage users on this forum who want to share any of their experiences, that's up to them and we can't control that.
I've literally never seen anybody talk about sexual experiences or practices in this thread, and I've been following it for months. We're mostly having conversations about who might be gay in the kpop industry, based on their behavior and statements. People who talk about their own experiences don't talk about sex, but about the social repercussions of being gay.

I’m already pissed off that the individual trainee is the best dancer out of all 15 yet he won’t be the center and he wont make it far ugh
Don't be so pessimistic. Jaehwan happened.

I haven't watched the videos yet (am at work) but honestly I'm already rooting for him because of the height, smol is my weakness (obviously I rooted for Taehyun and Nako during the previous seasons).
-
Question for everyone here, is there a consensus of idols whose body language immediately pings you? Like, the way they walk and sit and generally move about? I've been watching Taeyong lately and I always notice certain gestures and movements that he does, that sets off my gaydar (but as a Taeyong stan, I may be projecting lol). Anyway, I obviously I don't want to generalize or adhere to stereotypes, but as we saw with Jimin in Malta, some things are just so innate that it's practically unconscious.
Honestly ? Daewhi... he's like, the most girly male idol I've ever seen.

Out of topic about seungri so under spoiler. Don't you guys find it weird that the scandal blew up so soon after the SOPA scandal, a scandal that ACTUALLY deserves more attention?
I suggest you watch the video dkdktv made about the SOPA scandal before saying that, because if you had watched it you would know that it's pretty much resolved. There was a very quick response coming from the local education authorities, they made an investigation, reported to the police about the forced labor + other things the principal and his wife did with the school's money. And both have been demoted from their positions already so they can't do anything anymore.

Would they REALLY send Wooshin after all he's been through psychologically due to that 'scandal'? I really hope not, and in case they are, it better not be against his will. I don't get why they would even send up10tion at all... they aren't known to the public but they have a decent-sized fandom and sell good physicals
For the same reason they sent Gyuri on PD48 : exposure. Fromis_9 had a real popularity boost after she went.

Never in my life have I been so frsutrated. This whole ep was really frustrating to the max and I really really hated the ep to the max. I legit skipped like everything because everything sucked, literally everything. They started with Brave performance, which was maybe the only performance with Ear who was quite normally edited. But tbh they skipped for every group how they chose the leader and/or centers. So Brave too, I only saw Youwei tbh. I could only remember Youwei on screen, no others in sight. So than wr got the performance rather quickly and then they had a stupid talk for a few minutes about books. So I was like ok when will the results be announced, well sthen we get BAM 1 sec of the results on screen with no trainees waiting and building anxiety behind the rooms or whatsoever. You just get bam 1 second the results and then they quickly go further with another team. I was mad as hell. I was so incredibly mad, but oh wel that was not even the most frustrating part.
Spirit of Knight was right thereafter, and that was like the deepest *** I have ever seen. For 30 minutes or so, they only had Huaiwei on screen. Im not kidding u, even in rehearsals they literally zoomed in on Huaiwei. They cut everything from Changxi uit, everything. In the performance everyone got a closeup except Changxi and Lin Mo who were completely nowhere to be seen. I was pissed to the max, they used the ugliest filters ever and they zoomed out whenever Changxi and Linmo were on screen. It was the stupidest and ugliest edited performance I have ever seen, I was really mad.
But then I was like ok, they could not do anything about it yk. So Wenhan's team was next and smh their blond was okay to be shown but Linmo's blond not? Alright?
Then they showed a few parts about Wenhan being a sweet daddy to them and the performance aired.
They edited Wenhan's hair so I was like, oh alright vocal only stands its easier for them ti edit wenhan's hair. Guess what? They showed everyone, had closeup of everyone except Chaoyuan who had greyish white hair. They zoomed out when Chaoyuan sung and they just legit avodied Chaoyuan. HOW DIFFICULT WAS IT TO GET EVERYONE A FAIR TREATMENT? WHY CAN WENHAN HAS HIS HAIR EDITED BUT CHAOYUAN NOT?
So I was at this moment far above my anger limit and skipped like almost everything. I somehow ended up watchjng Chunyang's performance AND WHAT IN THE WORLD?? He hopped around like a rabbit and his hair was completely edited while keeping his shots. I was freaking mindblown, I was not in the mood to watch further.
This is the ugliest treatment I have ever seen against trainees, some performance were ugly as hell because of editing, oh and did I tell you that when Yixing requested Changxi to make a speech about him maybe winning #1 in dance that they completely zoomed in on Yixing nodding with Changxis voice in the background while having no screentime at all? Now I did.
I hated everything about this ep, really this sucked.
I hope Wenchen does not get eliminated, Im really really fond of him and the guys has everything. How are people so blind to miss him? Welp the old guys complimented him a lot so I hope they will save him
I want to warn all of you, no one can get through this ep without getting completely mad like I did.
This really sucked.
Welp, I guess I'm done watching the show. I'm a few episodes late already, looks like it's not worth catching up.

Yeah, i wonder why they have a Japan account this fast
Tour maybe ?
And honestly Japanese promotions aren't half as intensive as Korean ones, so a Japanese debut would be less tiring than a Korean comeback.

I also don't believe this one, but rumor about Vernon/Minghao sounds interesting Ñ:
My post originally ended with (I wanna read that Vernon/Minghao fic) but I decided to delete it because I didn't want to cheapen my post with something shippy.

God this has been on my mind so much lately. Two older guys in their 30s I know just came out as bi and they both said that they've gone their whole lives unquestioningly thinking of themselves as straight. My bisexual ex was the same, thought he was straight until our relationship and has only dated girls since. My 'straight' friend who loves his wife just opened up to me about hooking up with guys in TGIFridays bathrooms when he was younger. Sorry if this is too much personal venting lmao but sexuality does exist on a spectrum and bisexuality in particular can go unstated or even undetected for forever. I think a lot of people don't realise that bisexuality doesn't have to be a 50/50 thing to be be bisexuality.
Even if rumours are true and there are only a couple of self-aware/known-about lgbt members in certain groups, even if a member or two of a group came out and the rest remained silent, it never rules out the possibility of there being more.
This, so much. Society is heteronormative, so for someone who's attracted mostly to the opposite sex, it can take quite a lot of introspection to realize they're not quite straight, compared to gays/lesbians who just know they're different from the get go. From the moment I had a sex drive, I had some lesbian fantasies, but I didn't have words for it until much later in my life, and by the time I started to admit I was crushing on girls, I was in a stable heterosexual relationship with my now-husband, so I never acted on it.
Also there are quite a lot of people who are bisexual, but aren't biromantic, won't ever go past 'experimenting', and will not see themselves as bi since they only had serious relationships with one sex.

- Verkwan is/was actively pushed by agency to hide the real couple (I don't know if they are still together). Some people think it could be Vernon/Minghao.
And yet the couple-y photos are on Seungkwan's personal instagram, not on the group's account. Not saying they're a real couple (maybe they're trolling us), but more, they're the ones who are pushing it, not the company. Plus the fact that they had way more skinship before debut, as if Pledis asked them to tone it down.

Seriously, you think they'd know by now. SKZ are getting a freaking arena in PH, meanwhile an auditorium in LA, like....? Whose genius idea was that.
Maybe availability ? With the short notice there's a chance that all the venues with the right size were already booked, and big venues in LA are bound to be much more expensive than in smaller cities, not worth taking the risk of not selling out.

Wow... that... sure is... a bloodbath._.
Still hoping straykids can get their first win with that many effort they give
Don't hope too much. With the competition they'd need to hit top spots in digital charts to even get a nomination.

So people think it's okay to be rude and call people on this thread 'fucking weird'? That's acceptable, is it?
There's some odd mentality going on here.
I think you're the overly sensitive one here, most people understood it as a strongly worded 'very weird', not an insult.

but what's wrong with having an opinion? And gaydar can be true, some gay/lgbt people can recognize who is gay/bi.
You could have say it less rudely. Like for example " Honestly i think it's impossible to tell from first glare"
But some people believe in gaydar and you have to respect it
I'd agree that gaydar works when you're meeting someone IRL, however a few overly edited videos aren't enough to judge body language (because 'gaydar' is basically a specialized reading of body language, nothing more).

I wonder what the group battle songs are going to be. Energetic being one is almost a guarantee.
Mh Energetic was already used last year in position eval so I wouldn't be so sure.

i find it hard to believe that big hit is not sending any trainees since they will be involved with the final group hmm
At this point we only have rumors, and BigHit being involved hasn't been confirmed officially anyway.

Honestly Yanjun's public persona that drove him up in the IP ranking had two big components :
- flirting with everything that moves (or even doesn't, damn that was hilarious)
- lame jokes
so I can easily see both of these as fanservice.
You'll have to be more convincing than that ;)
-
I get frustrated by this too for a couple reasons:
1) assumes there's no cross-pollination between Western gay culture and Korean gay culture, which is wrong
2) it doesn't consider that gay idols could use korea's homosocial blindspot to "hide in plain sight"
3) it's part of a backlash among Western fans where they claim that everything from colourism awareness to fighting homophobia is "western imperialism," as if there aren't gay Koreans and Black Koreans. Maybe they should try listening to actual Koreans instead of talking over them.
I'm Korean and while I think there are different norms for physical affection, Korea isn't some cloistered sheltered oasis with no exposure to western culture. The truth is always more complicated than fandom agenda.
Also, people arguing that idols say and do things that we see as gay, but they themselves are pure souls that don't see it that way.
Idols are perfectly aware that what they do as fanservice comes across as gay, They know that shipping is a big part of fan culture, and companies encourage skinship because shipping is like fandom fuel.

Honestly, I have no idea what's going on but here's Jungkook broadcasting from the damn closet.
Enjoy.
Apparently it's his bedroom, he just has an open closet in it.

You mean that anime about the boys swimming team? Lol it catered so much girls that even I wouldn't be able to watch it unironically (and I'm a girl )

Kinda OT but :
I seriously and unironically like Free!. The first season was pure fanservice, but very pleasantly so as it didn't take itself seriously (I mean you could tell that the writers were having a lot of fun teasing the yaoi fangirls with the most ambiguous scenes possible), and the dynamics between characters are great, whether you ship them or not.
Second season is much more serious and less fanservice-y, but in exchange it's actually interesting theme-wise ; Haru (the main character) is in his last year of high school and has choices to make regarding his future, except he's depressive and doesn't know what he wants to do anymore. So even if it's not revolutionary, there's good character development, and as with all shows the studio has done, the rhythm is good so it's an easy watch, with top-notch technical execution (KyoAni has the best animation even on their TV shows).
Granted I'm in the target demographic to begin with (as an anime fan and an unrepenting, equal opportunity shipper) but I was pleasantly surprised by that show.
I do agree that Jungkook even starting to watch that show is hella suspicious, but that he liked it doesn't surprise me at all. Because behind all the fanservice there's themes that probably speak to him - friendship, competition, sacrificing your youth for something uncertain but you're passionate about.

Waiting for a dark horse, like Zhangjing who was 69th in the first ranking rose to 10th in the first elimination, or Yanjun who inched towards the top 9 bit by bit.
Perceptive netizens saw someone who was put in F rank rising to A rank as shown in the theme song MV. That didn't happen in the first season though it did happen in PD48 with Yabuki Nako. Maybe we'll be seeing some great moments later.
Quanzhe rose from F to B though, and with the very small number of As last year it's quite impressive.

Who do you think is a lesbian in kpop?

- The person who went too far was the one calling people in the gay thread pedophiles, for discussing the orientation of minors. Of course the thread reacted strongly to the accusation.
- Someone (mod or admin ?) deleted the whole conversation except the offensive post calling us pedophiles.
- After some more outrage an admin posted in the thread calling us perverted because we were sexualizing minors by discussing their (non-straight) orientation and crushes. And locked the thread (which didn't last long but still).
- The thread called that admin out for the obvious homophobia and asked for the rest of the admin team to choose their stance.
Which lead to this statement. Not homophobic but still decided because one of the admins doesn't seem to understand the difference between discussing sexual orientation, and sexualizing.
