  1. Most of the Produce contestants that get at least some attention during the show end up debuting anyway. Just being on the show gives them valuable exposure and that's why their agencies sends them. Debuting in the final group is a nice bonus but it's not the endgame for a big majority.
  2. Exactly and that's also why Ha Sungwoon didn't get a rookie nom despite the fact his sales were better than Jaehwan's.
  3. Clearly not enough sales, they're under 50k. Dunno how ATEEZ managed to get that nomination, they debuted the same month as IZ*ONE who won last year.
  4. It's not the media that use Bangtan's name in this it's the politicians. It's even worse I think, because it just shows how corrupt they are.
  5. D.O. himself decided to enlist early to be able to shoot the sequel of a movie he starred in. It's not SM pushing him to do so, it's simply a good choice for any idol with the skills to prioritize their acting career, because it's much more sustainable in the long run than singing.
  6. Thing is, Taeyong isn't in control of his own image, because atm SM doesn't allow him to say whatever he wants publicly. If he says anything controversial (and speaking about LGBT rights in Korea IS controversial), it could lead to some problems for him (and maybe to his group too since he's their face as far as public perception goes).
  7. The 'feminazi' term was coined by MRA, who are sexist to the core and thus want to demonize feminism at large. There was a time when the term meant people fighting for equality (voting rights, equality of pay, fair political representation) and some women-specific rights like reproductive rights. But now that most Western countries have written these in in law, all there is left to fight for is public perception of women - and thus, fight deeply personally ingrained cultural things, rather than hard facts. Korea remains a very sexist country, so the resistance against the change is much stronger than in say, Europe.
  8. She resurfaced as she agreed to pay a her late taxes (and most probably a big fine), and the government seems to have left her alone after that. She hasn't been super visible since though, mostly focusing on business / managing her brother's career.
  9. Well, he's not the first one ^^ Even discounting TXT (because being a backup dancer for a senior artist for your agency is pretty normal for a trainee), Minho of Stray Kids was still performing as their backup dancer six months before the Stray Kids survival show started to air.
  10. Hm people here should try to understand that the word 'feminist' is pretty negative to a lot of Koreans, it's more readily associated by man-hating radicals than with people of both sexes fighting for equal rights.
  11. The issue is that BB200 is a US-based chart that counts albums sold in the US and not anywhere else. The physical sales are supposed to be of albums sold by US-based stores to US customers. Basically if either the store or the buyer is outside of the US, it doesn't count. It's the rule of that specific chart, so albums shipped to Korea - or anywhere outside of the US - aren't supposed to count in BB200, simple as that.
  12. Starting with the results of season 2, I never doubted a second that the show was rigged, so I've been laughing in the face of these guys suing Mnet/CJ since day one, because I find it pathetic that they bought into Mnet's lies of fair competition when it's been so obvious it was never fair to begin with.
  13. Starship just want to debut their own boy group without waiting for the end of X1's exclusivity, and Jungmo has a stable fanbase on which they can build the group's. He wasn't abandoned, it's calculated so that they don't end up with a nugu group.
  14. I'm not saying they're wrong, I'm saying they're responsible of the mess X1 is going through.
  15. Up until the moment she moved to Korea, Miyu was self-taught hence some shortcomings. But since joining Mystic she's gotten top notch vocal training so I don't doubt she got tons better.
  16. Someone came out with the info ten years after the fact, the WEEK SuperM debuted. Tell me it was a coincidence, I'll laugh.
  17. Growing fandom + multiple releases, vs a group with a stagnating fanbase.
  18. Thing is, Taeyong has had bullying rumors in the past, but this homophobic comment only resurfaces today when SuperM is promoting, so I'd assume that the person resurfacing this is just as calculating as SM. I'm not trying to defend TY here, just saying that showing this to the public ten years after the fact is only a move to discredit him once again. Bullying rumors are so common with idols, it just happens that for TY there's actually some truth to it.
  19. Not on TV but concerts / vlives / MVs / photoshoots are fair game.
  20. Stan twitter is a cesspool so that's not where I connect with kpop fans. I'm mostly on reddit and at worst the X1 subreddit members are like "I don't want to hear about the controversy". Probably because it skews older than twitter fans, everyone's been pretty reasonable and thinks Mnet should be blamed for everything. I don't see OneIts actually supporting the rigging itself, but more like being okay with the result the rigging led to so don't think it's that important. And er, it's fans of eliminated trainees who are sueing Mnet, which is lead to the police investigation and all the shit the members are going through. So while blaming their whole fandom is dumb, there's indeed 300 or so people because of which the whole thing started.
  21. After watching the first two episodes I have to say I really like how they've edited the show so far, the drama they did show didn't seem forced, just boys cracking under the intense pressure. Also the trainers seem to be very helpful and competent. Everyone's super likable, reminds me of Idol Producer honestly ! (second time after the choice of center for the theme song, Ren's confidence really reminds me of Xukun's)
  22. On the international side all I've seen from OneIts is putting the entire blame on Mnet and the companies for the rigging. They're not saying that Mnet was right in rigging but fans are satisfied by the current lineup, and the boys have a really great team dynamic.
  23. 6th if you count Mixtape. And Clé 2 wasn't technically an EP because only 3 new songs, but still was EP length. Frankly I'm not bothered by the fact it's another EP, most groups have like 5 songs on their EPs SKz average at 7. They have a ton of music out for the amount of time they've been around.
  24. Nap Of A Star isn't really a music video honestly. It's a silent stop motion short film that happens to have TXT's song in the background.
  25. Or maybe they actually dated for a while because she was in a questioning phase. They were pretty young back then, so it's a possibility that Da Eun wasn't completely sure of her own orientation.
