You understood badly, the contract that leaked was the one trainess signed for the show not the artist contract for the final group, and that one is you can assume a typical one. Wanna One had something like a 50/25/25 split of profit for CJ/original company/idol which isn't necessarily the worst deal ever (TS has much worse contracts for example). Music sales don't turn up much in terms of profit, so for any idol (not just a Produce group) most money comes from CFs, variety and touring. Daniel earned enough during the 1.5 years of Wanna One to hire one of the best lawyers with a specialty in entertainment contracts and set up his own company (while living in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Seoul).

It has already affected their reputation and X1 is banned from most TV channels (they only have appeared on CJ-owned ones since their debut). Contractually this doesn't need to have any direct effect, after the show the winners signed contracts with Off The Record / Swing that were completely distinct from the trainee contracts they had during the show. Financially it's not exactly in CJ's best interest to remove anyone from the groups, X1 in particular has a really big fandom and removing 'rigged' members from the group would only diminish their revenue.

[enter-talk] THEY CAUGHT STARSHIP'S VICE-PRESIDENT ㄷㄷ
reiichi replied to modernBTS's topic in Netizen Nation
They may have known there was some agreement between the producers and their company, but it's not as if they were given any choice in the matter ? -
Frankly ever since they left Cube they've both been fashion disasters, so it's kinda become their trademark for me ^^; I find Hyuna's outfit here very nice compared to a lot she's worn in the past year. Dawn though ? Tragic indeed. Only nice thing about his outfit is how revealing it becomes when he starts moving lol.

Not actively. They regularly have new content on their Youtube channel and post on SNS almost everyday, like any active idol group does outside of promotion periods. If there was no controversy with the show, they'd probably be a lot more busy, filming variety and CFs left and right, but that's kinda it. After the show ended they signed with Swing and the agency isn't directly involved in the controversy, they're just another CJEM subsidiary.

Nam Tae Hyun and South Club are now part of P&B Entertainment

Most non-idol bands are actually like that, with the singer front and center and the rest of the members in the background. -
Which male idols do you think are gay?
reiichi replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Lol sure Jihyo had the other Twice members drive her around just so the dumb masses stop paying attention to political matters. This would never work, people just don't care about idols dating. Daniel's scandal blew up just a week after his record-breaking solo debut as a desperate last attempt at ruining his reputation. Dispatch had had several articles all written by the same "journalist" trying to defame him over the whole period of his lawsuit. The settlement in Daniel's favor was thanks to him hiring the best specialized lawyer money could buy, while LM had to change theirs in the middle of the lawsuit because of how poor of a job he was doing. So nothing to do with politics and everything with idol business. They don't look like a PR couple to me, like at all ? It would make no sense for Daniel to want this kind of information public, it's bound to make him lose more fans than any gay rumor would. -

You knew one of those "some guys" is Tae Hyun's younger brother, right ? -
I'm saying Koreans because it's the only other country with a sizeable idol industry and physical CD sales. The Japanese music industry has been trying to protect its physical market by heavily limiting the amount of online free content but if you look at Korean groups they have a ton of free content AND still sell a shit ton. Why start to release their content on Youtube after all this time, if it's not to gain fans outside of Japan ?
-
It's nice to know he hasn't given up on singing, let's hope he finds a good agency to support his solo career (I can't see him in another group after what happened).

Groups whose contracts end in 2020 & 2021
reiichi replied to momoring's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
UNIQ is in a strange place where - they haven't officially disbanded but haven't released anything together in several years - all members have a solo career, but only one of them in Korea - in the past year three out of five members went to three different survival shows and made it to project groups People who think that the group still exists are I think delusional, the hallyu ban in China killed it. The members might individually renew their contracts because they do get support from Yuehua in their solo careers, but hoping for a group reunion at this point is just wishful thinking.- 42 replies

Woojin is leaving Stray Kids :(
reiichi replied to Moon Jellyfish's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
JYPE are not lax at all, if you don't have a pristine track record and don't have impeccable behavior you'll get thrown out. Most of the time, it's during trainee days that they'll detect problematic people, so their debuted idols are in general super nice people who know how to behave properly, and as a result don't need to put on a fake persona to interact with fans. So JYPE idols look like they're free to express themselves, but there are rules they have to follow, not necessarily all of them regarding illegal things. Not necessarily dating by itself (the three year dating ban they're under is mostly a PR measure), but dating someone inappropriate (like someone who's already married), or getting a girl pregnant ? Probably two things that could make you get the boot. Showing proper respect to company executives and elders probably falls under company rules too. And yeah it might be something illegal he did, such as trying drugs or hiring prostitutes. Which he could have done legally outside of Korea, except Korean law punishes Korean citizens for these offenses even if they happen in a country where it's legal. -
Woojin is leaving Stray Kids :(
reiichi replied to Moon Jellyfish's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
If his departure was on good terms, they would have come up with a reason for him to not participate in the upcoming promotions, and just announced his contract termination later. Re-recording the album, re-shooting whatever needs to be not to include him, takes precious time and money. If JYPE prefers to spend that much money, over keeping him around officially for another month, things have to be pretty bad between them. -
I watched one of their stages yesterday, he's already got broader shoulders than his hyungs and the stylists didn't manage to hide it.

2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards Nominations
reiichi replied to Yeddong's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Realistically ? It's gonna be X1. They're Mnet's sons. And Daniel isn't exactly on good terms with them after his lawsuit. -
Woojin is leaving Stray Kids :(
reiichi replied to Moon Jellyfish's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
It's pretty evident it wasn't his decision, the way they're re-recording and re-shooting things without him makes it pretty transparent he's not parting on good terms with the company (and from we've seen with other departures, JYPE is normally accommodating when one of their artists wants to leave). It's extremely likely Woojin broke a company rule and was just pushed out the door as a result. JYPE does seem to care bout their artists' wellbeing, but they're also not lenient at all when it comes to things that could damage the reputation of the groups/company. -
Woojin is leaving Stray Kids :(
reiichi replied to Moon Jellyfish's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
There are termination fees in the contracts but there's always some form of negotiation and JYPE aren't known for being asses about contractual stuff. Though I'm thinking that Woojin is thrown out for not following some JYPE rule, and they disguise it as him leaving on his own choice because they don't want to disclose what he did exactly (because it would be bad PR wise). -
[enter-talk] WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THIS YEAR'S ROOKIE OF THE YEAR?
reiichi replied to Trashie's topic in Netizen Nation
You're right, so who between AB6IX and TXT gets a rookie awards depends on what importance the award show gives to digitals vs physical sales. MMA is pure digital so AB6IX will win it if X1 doesn't attend. Some shows give more than one award, and would award both if that's the case. -

Never seen an OST nominated at MAMA, I don't think they're eligible. -
IZ*ONE's Yujin will be withdrawing from her high school SOPA
reiichi replied to speedthief's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
I think it's not possible to home school during mandatory years, but if she's past those years she can decide not to go to school anymore. SOPA is expensive but it still costs less than a private tutor, and a lot of idols go there because they have a super lax attendance policy, which means you don't have to study much in order to graduate high school. To me it looks like Yujin's parents want her to have a better education that what her current schedule allows (let's face it, she can't go to school often enough to learn properly), a private tutor can adapt to her schedule more easily. -
[enter-talk] WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THIS YEAR'S ROOKIE OF THE YEAR?
reiichi replied to Trashie's topic in Netizen Nation
I can see Melon not inviting X1 because of the controversy (since they're banned from appearing from most TV channels), and give the male rookie award to AB6IX (since Breathe charted better than Crown). For physical sales TXT seems to be ahead of everyone else so they should sweep anything else X1 doesn't (last year Stray Kids won everything except Melon, because they were ahead in physical sales). -
2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards Nominations
reiichi replied to Yeddong's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Okay so it was Mnet who didn't follow their own rules for IZ*ONE, mystery of the ATEEZ nomination solved. It's already pretty nice for ATEEZ to be nominated, considering the competition. They do have zero chance to win though since all the other nominees have a lot more sales and better charting (and OneIts are about as dedicated as ARMYs so they're going to dominate the online vote for sure). -
[enter-talk] WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THIS YEAR'S ROOKIE OF THE YEAR?
reiichi replied to Trashie's topic in Netizen Nation
In all the big award shows (MMA, GDA, SMA, MAMA) sales and/or streaming are the most important factor for a win, and AB6IX did better than TXT for both with their debut. So awards that don't go to X1 will probably go to AB6IX.
