  1. I guess the role fits well for an acting debut - the character is supposed to be awkward so the actor being awkward won't be a problem lol.
  2. "This forum" is not indicative of the reality of what's actually happening in Korea though. Korean society in general is so much harsher to women. For male idols to actually suffer backlash it takes something drastic, and they generally have a fandom they can turn to if they lose GP appeal. Female idols get criticized for just being too independent-minded, and girl group fandoms aren't big enough to rely on them completely, so they have to rely on GP for their careers. K-pop is an absolutely sexist industry and by saying "boys have it worse" you're just being ignorant.
  3. Okay, Sulli was a boy group member then. Seriously, it has nothing to do with gender, all celebrities in Korea face a shit ton of backlash whenever they step out of line. Boy group members actually have an advantage over others, they have fangirls who will blindingly follow them to hell, no matter how horrible they turn out to be.
  4. The guys cited are all much paler than their bandmates, according to people who saw them irl. Suga and Woozi just don't go out much so it makes sense they're super pale.
  5. It was in album sales, they've never been that strong in that department.
  6. He only wants to come back to Korea to visit his family. That's what a F-4 visa is for.
  7. But Starship announced Wonho's contract had been terminated after the weed accusations, before that he had only left the group not the company.
  8. Because she's going to attract viewers, much like the rest of the team. In the first season one of the rap mentors was MC Jin, who's not that fluent at Mandarin (and can't read Chinese at all).
  9. She used to have a small cute nose, now it just doesn't fit her face anymore.
  10. Because in a lot of cases idols only get surgery because their company pushes them to ?
  11. Problem is more that they all have such short parts by having 13 members, even if some title tracks do have the rappers singing (Home for example), vocal unit is going to be highlighted more, and get to do high notes, because they're just the best at it. And I really like how Woozi uses the different vocal tones to give their songs texture. When he writes a line, he already knows who's going to sing it
  12. Update : all French schools are closed starting monday, and the president just said employers had to favor remote work whenever possible.
  13. I'm actually more annoyed by how underutilized some idols' voices are... most idols who are deemed "bad singers" are actually just given parts they're not comfortable singing because it's outside of their range (Momo sounds ten times nicer in that Move cover than in Twice songs). A ton of altos/baritones are given rap parts because they can't reach the same high notes as the sopranos/tenors in their groups, but are actually good at singing (such as Moonbyul and Chanyeol). Groups that self-produce tend to make a much better use of everyone's voice - Seventeen and (G)I-dle comes to mind.
  14. None of them are "complete nugus" though, they're all from reputable agencies even if they don't sell a lot, and had their seniors on Queendom (which means Mnet can use those girl groups appearing on the show as a marketing tool. And I think one of the rounds will have them cover their senior groups, instead of covering each other).
  15. I watched a video showing an apartment that was for sale in the complex, and it honestly looked really nice. Spacious and lots of light. Sadly you can't really stop journalists from reporting on their personal purchases since it's publicly available information.
  16. The purpose of the show is to promote the groups in it, but if all of them are nugus nobody will watch. I guess Mnet included a couple of not-that-unknown groups, in order to attract some viewers.
  17. Life goes on as usual in France, you just don't get weird looks anymore for greeting colleagues from afar ^^;
  18. The price for winning Queendom was a comeback show on Mnet, so in the end it's all about promotion. Being invited to appear on a show together with more prominent groups seems to be a fair price.
  19. Except real estate purchases are public information, not private.
  20. They're very strong performers, so I have high hopes for them.
  21. It all depends on how they balance the different criteria. Public voting (= fan votes) and charting (= GP popularity) both were important in Queendom, it was balanced by the fact that all groups were already relevant, and Mamamoo's advantage wasn't big enough for them to win all the time. Here you clearly have The Boyz who has a big fandom (100k sales), and Pentagon who has some GP recognition (cos of Shine + songs Hui wrote for other people), while the others are more or less nugu. I guess Pentagon has a decent shot too, and since it has some top notch vocalists and songwriters, I certainly won't be mad if they win.
  22. Well Road to Kingdom will bring attention to its winner so it's not as unequal. And with The Boyz confirmed for Road we basically already know who's gonna win anyway
  23. Honestly The Boyz have no place within this lineup and should have been replaced by an actual underdog. They're already more relevant with the general public than Ateez and Stray Kids...
