We have to try to understand the intention of IQIYI on this. To be able to continue to carry on with the show and make it successful every year, the show has to have big sponsors like Mengqiu. This show also in a way is helping to find the spoke-person for the product. I think it is the practice of companies that part of the money earned by the trainees will be used for promotion anyway and as you can see companies like Star Master Entertainment buying many cartons so ensuring future sponsors for the show. Many contestants shot up in the ranking (Jia Yi, Yaochi, Shi Zhan, Li Zhenning, Xia Hanyu) and so you can see many companies are buying into the idea. There are trainees who came into the competition without a company but have a very strong fanbase like Cai Xukun last year who ended with a lot of votes, and in the eyes of the sponsor be the best spoke-person. This is what will attract sponsors for the show. With almost every company knowing how it works now after what happened last year, the issue is the trainee should establish a strong enough fanbase before joining the show i.e Chen Youwei who acted in 6 Chinese dramas and I remember the clip where he was talking to his sister, his sister told him that his mother was having a meeting with a group of people discussing on this matter. Anyway, the products bought by the company will be ended distributed to the staff and they have to drink it almost everyday before the expiry date....hahaha. I think the authorities do not mind this time as Mengqiu is a Chinese company (last year was a Taiwanese company) and what benefits it bring to Mengqiu will also benefit China.

I agree with you that Wenhan, Guan Yue, and Jia Yi are sure to debut. Chunyang and Chen Youwei almost. There is a pix from twitter with stacks of Mengniu fruit drink supposedly bought by Star Master Entertainment (Company that are managing Jia Yi, Lin Mo and Chan Yu) probably explaining Jia Yi's, Lin Mo's and Zhan Yu's climb in ranking. Guan Yue is one the public want most to succeed coz of his family background and will be a good spokeperson for Mengniu I hope Lian Huaiwei can debut as well, coz I am entranced by his dynamic dancing (his hair constantly move up and down) which is eye-catching and portray a jovial image. Yao Mingming is also an excellent dancer who I also like to see debut and would be competing with Li Zhenning and Deng Chaoyuan. I feel that Yao Chi is the last surviving member of his group Maverick along with Xia Hanyu (I feel both are like You Zhangjing who will make any song better when they sing). Wang Jiayi and Zhou Shiyuan who I also like vocally I feel is not a good fit in a group. I feel Shi Zhan may have a chance and is visually eye-catching, and I feel his company will back him all the way. TO SUMMARIZE Li Wenhan, Guan Yue and Jia Yi will be in the final 9. The remaining 6 will be among Chen Youwei, Hu Chunyang, Lian Huaiwei, Yao Chi, Shi Zhan, Yao Mingming, Li Chenning, Xia Hanyu and Deng Chaoyuan. Hoping this time around they will have 11 members instead. (2 selected by expert panel i.e. a vocalist/dancer and a rapper/dancer)

From what I have seen of the preview on episode 5, for the position evaluation there are 5 vocal groups (total 24 trainees), 4 rap groups (total 20 trainees) and 3 dance groups (17+ 1 injured trainees) making a total of 62 trainees into episode 6. There are some information I gather from twitter and a user from here (modify slightly to what I perceive to be correct) which I will put here in the spoiler.

I think the authorities would not be pissed off if the show brings benefit to the country economically. What I feel is that this could be one of the reason the different amount of screening time given to the trainees i.e the amount of "promotion money" spent by the company. So I am surprised and glad that Lian Huaiwei and Guan Yue were given a fair amount of screen time and dare I say that "Mengniu" had earmarked Guan Yue as their spokeperson especially when they screened his heartbreaking video conferencing with his mom such that everyone would like him to succeed.

Hi Guys Is it true that if a fan buy a bottle of Mengniu, he get a free ticket consisting of 9 votes? I think this is true and I can see that companies like Yuehua spending money on this which is a good promotional tactic for both Yuehua and Mengniu as this tactic will attract sponsors for the show. If this is true, I would put up a suggestion that these free votes would only be entitled up to the penultimate show and not for the finale of choosing the final 9.

I am an ardent follower of the show and always hope that IQIYI would always find ways of improving it for every season. The format of the show as we know now have position ranked according to the popularity of the contestants in the audition videos which I think is a good thing. Here i hoped that they will give us more information on all the contestants the same as what Lay have. (information on card he is reading) so even it the contestant does not have much screen time the viewers get to know something about them. I feel the contestants in ep. 1 would have an advantage over those in ep. 2 if people started voting on ep. 1 since every day each IQIYI VIP subscriber get to vote 9 times, and if so I suggest that ep. 1 should be screened on Thursday and ep. 2 on Friday to narrow this advantage but have the rest of the episode on Friday as per its usual schedule. This year the mentors and laoshi select 8 out of the 16 groups which they judged to be better performers to appear on stage which they think the audience would like to see and the result is obvious. (The highest 199 and the lowest 16) The highest was 210 (its like unknown achieving super stardom) and the lowest was 1 (for one who was Graded A) for season 1. I am satisfied with the group selection by Lay and the mentors and I am happy with Lay comments throughout the selection especially on Kou Cong and Li Chenning and hopefully Kou Cong will progress to the top 60.

He is ranked 73 at episode 3, sole representative of Haohan Entertainment and only got a bonus value of 6300 for ep.4 and is not even top in a weaker group. He may not even make it to top 60 as his ranking had dropped from 46 to 73, but if he did he still need to do well in the position evaluation which is a hard task.
