  1. I'm scared too :(. I hope they got her a wheelchair or something, the sight of her limping is only more horrifying and scary because you can see she's in pain on her face. I hope that she will be able to heal. Ugh, with the upcoming promotions for the games, I imagine there is so much pressure on her and the group. I hope that all will be dealt with in a humane way, and her health won't be compromised.
  2. I really wish the girls didn't perform in heels as much as they do. Whether they choose it or not, those things are bad for people's backs, and the wear and tear will hurt in the long-run. If they still want some height then at least wear heels with more support like wedges -- the Louboutins look amazing but I wince a little every time I see them prancing around in them. And Solar's backpain (and I think Hwasa's had some too?) reminds me why I worry. Hope Solar feels better soon. They were great tonight!
  3. This was scarily accurate oh my god. I haven't laughed so hard in a while.
  4. I really want 'Paint Me' to become one of Mamamoo's iconic songs. The type that audiences will sing along to, and sway, and wave their light sticks or their phones. It just has that kind of feel. I wonder if they will sing it at Kwave. I'm not letting myself get too hopeful for that. Either way, it'll be good to see them onstage, I've missed them (and it's been like five days, mess).
  5. Do we know if they're attending any of the upcoming awards shows yet? Also that Spot interview was great. They're so humble. Loved Solar once again reiterating that they want to be known as the best singers, and again the progression in terms of their music. It's interesting that they feel they're not quite ready to accept the idea of being a trendy girl group. I'm counting the days until March.
  6. Fingers crossed that means they'll be refining their concepts and coming with some fire.
  7. There's nothing stan Twitter and fandom in general hates than having to acknowledge they had a knee-jerk reaction based on incorrect conclusions and a very loud band-wagon. Just like when Solar dressed as a beggar, people still choose to pretend that wasn't debunked very easily and that it was another case of people bandwagoning for clicks and retweets. It's all so tiresome. ANYWAY Moonbyul and Seulgi? My ovaries may explode! I'm so excited to hear what all the girls are doing solo-wise on this album. Take my wig, ladies!
  8. Pennywise is racist, apparently. Who knew.
  9. I hope no one will let the negativity get them down (just prepare yourselves, it'll be incessant for the next few months and maybe forever with how some people are). I remember when this sort of thing used to happen to Little Mix all the time. Perrie wore a bindi five times; Jesy did blackface; Little Mix appropriated XXX culture or said something misogynistic etc etc etc. Sometimes the issues were valid but a lot of the times it was fandom (the 1D fandom mostly) picking on them for whatever reason. Anyway, all that to say, I remember when they used to be called "local Mix" and those people said they'd never be a top girl group. And now they're like the biggest touring artists in the UK barring Adele or something nuts like that. Mamamoo will be fine. As long as they keep being awesome, doing what they love and bringing good music. Could they be managed better in some aspects including awareness? Of course. But certain people will hate loudly and passionately, no matter what they do. I'm not going to keep apologising for loving them. Especially when other groups regularly get away with worse.
  10. Can BTS, EXO or someone's oppa drop a single or something to distract the collective rage crew? Please.
  11. I don't know the history of clowns and I'm Black. Are clowns also cultural appropriation now? Pennywise is crying in a club somewhere. Anyways. The people who are crowing the loudest were legit praying for the next issue they could pick on MMM for since everyone was suddenly liking them the last week or so. They're back to inventing offenses again because it sounds much more evil that Mamamoo did "a bunch of racist, anti-black things!" than to say they did one very bad thing, were called out on it and haven't done it again. Whatever. Can we get news on the comeback already.
  12. I always laugh at this podcast because you can tell they're really mystified by Mamamoo at points (the fact that they don't even follow their own choreo half the time, that they're uber-beagles and borderline crazy, that they don't follow any of the usual idol rules the way they're supposed to) but they're also helplessly fascinated by and enamoured with them and everything they represent (the charisma, the playfulness and improvisation of their stages, the individual appeal of each member, their raucous humour, their sheer talent etc.).
  13. I'm not expecting anything big until after the Olympics, so March, to be honest. I do hope there are a couple performance of 'Paint Me' before that though. Maybe, if we're lucky, they'll throw out an official single in the last week of Jan/first week of February and use their increased visibility with the games to build hype in preparation for the title track and album in March but I know nothing of strategy. Will they be present at any of the upcoming awards shows, if anyone knows? I'm still bitter we haven't gotten to see YIA on a truly big stage -- I'm very greedy.
  14. My love for the Rhythm performance definitely rose over time. At first I was just sort of put out because it didn't have the usual exuberance of a lot of the more upbeat songs that Mamamoo does. But they did something really special with the song, it's sexier and slinkier, you can literally see the shift in where they're going by comparing that performance to earlier ones. It's now the performance I revisit every few days. It's glorious. If they gave me anything even vaguely like that sonically, I would lose my mind with glee. Agreed on the drum-break -- the only reason I tolerate it is the excitement from the audience and how hot they look while doing it, lol. And also, of course Mamamoo would randomly become a drumline in the middle of a performance just because they can.
  15. Moonbyul dancing like that has me hoping this next era brings a step up in choreo. We know they're capable of it. I just want to have some dance breaks in their live stages (beyond Immortal Songs of course).
  16. I see it's already benefiting them. This video is doing rather well for a pre-release, relatively uneventful ballad video. I love it.
  17. I'm not sure if everyone has talked about this already but is there any significance to them now posting their videos on 1theK instead of CJENN (I know the former has loads more subs and that's where groups like BTS, K.A.R.D post their videos, well BTS doesn't anymore since they blew up but definitely in the 'Dope' era they had videos on there)?
  18. That interview by Kim Dohoon last year was very revealing. He says something about how he was watching them onstage, and they seemed almost too at ease, like veteran performers who've been at it for nearly a decade. "Paint Me" is just the first step in realising the shift that he and the girls have been talking about. Mamamoo's a wildcard in a way they haven't been before because they could literally go in any direction from here. This time last year, I could've easily predicted their musical direction on Purple. But right now, I can't even say for sure what they're going to give us when the official comeback starts. I can't wait.
  19. Billboard did a short article about the single: I do feel there is a real strategy this year in terms of international outreach. It'll be interesting to watch. Kim Do Hoon is no dummy, that guy has some definite long term ambitions with Mamamoo and I think him and the ladies have spent the last few months laying the groundwork. They really should organise some visits to Latin America, the song was trending in Brazil for a few hours yesterday, I heard.
  20. Finally listening to the instrumental, and holy shit, it's beautiful. That guitar dotted throughout. Yo, if we don't get this live with a big band and orchestra, you'll find me CryingInTheClub.mp3.
  21. The deep warmth in Moonbyul's voice, and her expressiveness really impressed me in this song - I'm so pumped for this new era of Mamamoo. Byul embracing her gift is the thing that I think will take the group to the next level vocally. It's so nonsensical to me that people even talk about these labels with Mamamoo. Mamamoo is the rare group where all four of them are critical to the whole, and they've been so adamant about that from the jump. Any other group wouldn't make the effort to ensure Moonbyul gets to rap in the Immortal Songs performances, for instance. She would either be stuck singing only harmony back-up or not be included to begin with since "she's just the rapper" (ugh). They all four respect each other's talents and abilities, and make sure everyone gets a ~moment~ to shine, it's really special and it's one of the reasons why i feel they'll have good longevity in the business. That kind of mutual respect and nurturing of each other isn't common in groups at all. (Yet another thing that reminds me of Little Mix with them, lol. I have a type when it comes to girl groups.) Incredible. Someone should send this to Mamamoo - to know that people are connecting with this song! Also, to hopefully encourage them to do a fan meet in some other countries, lol.
  22. Love this. He is making me love the song more than I did before. Love the points about the synth bass, there's a lot going on musically but it's so wonderfully subtle. I think I'm just so used to loud, complex (sometimes overly) productions that put the vocals in the backseat (because let's face it and I'm not being mean just honest: many of the acts don't have the vocals lmfao) while putting the bells and whistles front and centre. This song totally turns that on its head. It keeps growing on me, and I now have it on repeat.
  23. Not to be predictable but Hwasa's vocal is really compelling on this song, I keep coming back to her parts. She was made for these kinds of ballads where the raw vocals need to be front and centre without being overpowering or too loud/shouty (I see now why she has a preference for Rihanna's ballads that are like this, 'Stay' and 'Diamonds', and her vocal texture and ability to emote actually gives me a more skilled-Rihanna vibe). She just sounds incredible on this.
