If RBW doesn't hop on this hype train, I'll be annoyed. I remember I was so annoyed when it seemed that Hyejin was basically not having much solo opportunities. But when she did get some nice stuff to do, it's all been met with so much positive reception. RBW would be stupid to fail to take advantage of all this. I think this era has been so impressive because you really DO see their individual charms, Wheein and the girls when they gave that interview way back in December were right. That's what this year has been about and I hope it continues. BUT I'm gonna need a group comeback sooner rather than later, please. The Four Seasons concept was a great way to keep the group things coming while the girls each pursue their solo efforts as well. -

I'm so proud of every single one of these women. To think that ONE group has so much distinctive talent is just so impressive imo. Each one has done a significant solo project in the first half of this year, and each one is so unique to them. Byul's songs sound incredible and relatable, I'm so ready to hear. I wonder what the second half will yield. We already know Solar's taking her concert to Busan, who knows, maybe she'll do some regional locations, too. We know they're going to do some concerts (I'm praying for at least a regional tour). The Fantastic Six concert in Taiwan etc. We still have three more albums to go! I have a feeling that Hwasa will have some sort of solo debut, I'm hoping Solar will do a big collab, and Wheein will finally give us the album KDH was talking about. What a force this group is! -

That Loco x Hwasa performance was so good. Lmao, that man looked so shook throughout. HER POWER! Solar's concert, even though I'm listening only to audio so far - WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am in awe. Her control, her stage manners, her charm, her vocals, EVERYTHING! Wheepup's appearance! Just, wow. What a woman. So proud and happy for her, this is only the beginning. -

My heart is so full with pride for our maknae and Loco and Woogie! I don't think anyone expected this, and it's so much more rewarding because of it. Honestly, I thought we'd be lucky to have this song go top 20. And to see it achieving all this, and people genuinely loving it, and recognising Hyejin's talent is so cool! Well done, and may this lead to many more great achievements for her, Loco, Woogie and of course, Mamamoo as a whole. Now I'm off to continue freaking the f**k out about all of this! -

YONGSUN HAS KILLED ME! Which is a feat, since I was already murdered by Wheein a week ago. And Hwasa dug up my remains, resurrected me and killed me again yesterday. Dead x3! Her vocals just make me feel so joyful. It's a remarkable gift to have. -

HOLY MOLY!!!!! Congratulations, Hyejin and Loco! The song is such a charming confessional bop that sounds very ... different for some reason. This is just the beginning! -

It's all amazing. I keep fantasising that once we have Solar and Moonbyul's solo/collabs, we'll have five Mamamoo songs hanging out in the top 50, and maybe higher. That'd be amazing. -

I think the strategy is working well but I personally think it could work better. I don't think one has to be a marketing expert to find the mixed messages (Wheein's album.... no, single!.... no album... actually just a single, for example) to be sloppy. The social media flubs where the intern or whoever runs the account literally forgot to post a photo at one point. This all might be keeping them in the public eye but it's just odd. Either way, I'm glad for the opportunities and I hope that there is a cool strategy for group and solo activities the rest of the year etc. I'm sure there is. But all of this looks clumsy rather than deliberate. I'm glad Starry Night is still slaying, and Wheein's song is doing well. Hope Moonbyul and Solar's upcoming solo debuts are well-received and Hyejin's whenever she does decide to debut solo, too. -

I still can't get over how beautiful, strong and distinct their voices are. Like most of you have said, it felt like a musical theatre stage. Their charisma and charm is utterly effortless. I look at them and I cannot imagine any one of them doing anything else BUT this. They were born for it. I want this year to just continue to be one of them surpassing themselves, trying new things (and killing it each time). I'm warming to the IS2 performance (they often have that power over me). Still not a fave but if I just think of it as a lost Broadway musical performance, it's very, very good. -

I'm with you there. I appreciate that Mamamoo can tackle any concept or genre and the singing was good, charisma top notch as usual. But I hope this is the last time I see "cute Mamamoo" or whatever this is. It's just not something I'm into even with girl groups who do this as their staple. This is in their lowest tier IS performances for me by far, not coz it's bad but because it left me largely cold. -

The song they're singing is Loco's song 'Post It'. So we still don't know what the actual duet is gonna sound like! I'm so excited. Hyejin has chemistry with everyone omg. -

I'm glad to see Hyejin finally getting some form of solo project, I was getting rather irritated by the absolute nothing prior to this morning. Loco must be so happy, lmao. I'm excited to see the writing and production process with them. I hope the song is a goodie even though it obviously won't be an official single or anything like that. Excited for Moonbyul's upcoming debut. The bts photos look adorable! I do kind of wish they'd space things out a little more, like Wheein solo album - group album - Moonbyul album - group album - Solar/Hyejin album etc. But I'm sure there's rationale with all of this. Either way, I hope Hyejin's album if she does one doesn't come till the end of the year or even next year as this one already feels over-crowded and they gotta leave us some good stuff for 2019, when they'll most likely be doing loads of touring after the amazing output of this year! -

I think there are many meanings for a song. But I believe Hwasa spoke about the inspiration in an interview, and she spoke about the inexplicable sadness/loneliness one feels sometimes and how one escapes that, comparing that to the seasons turning from winter to spring etc. It felt very personal. She also about her father (who she references directly in the song). So the song is autobiographical, and there could be resonances for her different her close friendship with Wheein but I'm not sure that's been confirmed anywhere by Hwasa herself. -

Sounds like R&B/dance. Those harmonies are lush! They look like angels. I'm in love. -

A very good podcast discussing "The Surreal Art of Mamamoo's Starry Night": It's quite good especially when they talk about philosophy and art, and the visuals especially. And I like what he says about their vocals defying the usual EDM whisper vocals you hear in Western charting EDM pop songs. -

Well said. I can't get over those translated lyrics from the YouTube comment - they really do convey the poetry of the song. I think not many people would've expected something like this from Hwasa as she does tend to get pigeonholed (even in radish fandom) as the ~Sexy~, thicc Fatal Maknae. In this song, she shows she can be fatal in a very different way and it's very compelling. The song is the one I keep revisiting most on the album (I thought it'd be Spring Fever or Rude Boy). The bittersweet melancholy to it, the quietness of it (she's a very restrained singer, a lot of people might try to go for explosive in the chorus or build towards some kind of banging crescendo with a song like this but she really controls her voice to tell the story of the feeling she's describing, and it's just very smart and shows she has a very strong and instinctive musicality, which is surprisingly rare in any pop landscape these days). She's got a Jhene Aiko meets Rihanna meets SZA meets Frank Ocean meets Amy Winehouse quality to her, and it's very unique. I'm hungry to hear more. I hope that she at least does a couple of good collabs this year that play up to these strengths because this is the sweet spot, imo. -

The video is gorgeous. So aesthetic, and like something Frank Ocean or SZA might make. It doesn't look like it cost 20USD, wow! She is so beautiful. And my heart hurt a lot with that closing statement. This woman is so inspiring to me! Lol, that misspelling was kind of funny to me. But I decided to take it as an artistic choice lmfao. -

Yeah, I'm getting impatient for this. I hope we get to hear it soon. This last two weeks have been so great for them. I'm so proud. And seeing the fruits of their labour is so exciting, also. 600k+ followers on YouTube (they were actually at 540ishK in the week the album dropped), the great promo they've been doing (it's been intense but just smartly done so they can at least finish up by month's end), the wins, the appearances. I hope we see them continually surpass themselves throughout the year and I think we will. -

I support that CF if only because they all look stunning, and for once they've not lightened Hwasa or edited her body to make her look like a stick, she's breathtaking and it's amazing to see her as her in an ad for great figures. They're determined to kill us, and it's only album 1. Is it too silly to aim for Vogue Korea by the time we get to the winter album? -

It's an incredible song. She managed to convey the exact thesis statement of the album with that song, it's sad and comforting, melancholy but hopeful which is a hard thing to do. I wish it was getting more love than it is but alas. Also it has some of the best production I've ever heard from a Mamamoo song, the live instrumentation is so powerful. I can imagine her performing it live in an intimate setting. I hope we get to hear it live soon.
