I read a spoiler which seems to be given weight by dc ppl while m&m was airing during the early episodes and it went like this. "Bobby B.I and Jinhwan discussed amongst each other and came to a conclusion that Jinhyeong best fits Ikon and this was relayed from B.I to Yg during a face to face personal meeting session"

 

the spoiler was a screencap of a comment/post made somewhere (not sure where they got it maybe fb or somewhere else).

 

This was in the same dc post whereby the poster said that jinhyeong would have tremendous improvement if the screencap is true which was posted by wifey in the m&m or ikon thread. I saved it in Pocket app, but the ori post appears to be deleted already so cant screenshot it fully.

 

 

This was partly why i was sort of confident jinhyeong would get into ikon, but it appears that yg obviously wanted to put an actor in ikon.

 

Edit: oh and this spoiler came out before m&m episode 3 when hongseok joined. So not sure if this "jinhyeog fits ikon best" was before hongseok was added.

What I don't understand is so how did Chanwoo win the last spot? YG staff voted for Jinhyeong over Chanwoo and Hongseok landed second place in fan votes. Chanwoo only fared better on the global votes which account for 14%. 

We never got a full explanation of the voting system and the mechanics of it. To the very day we were supposed to vote, we were confused about it. 

The show was never a survival competition in the first place. The final decision was made from the beginning. The show was skewed in a way that reflected the final decision and try to convince the audience to follow along by favoring Chanwoo.

Oh man those screencaps   they make me sad all over again 

From the beginning both YG and Bi were in favor of Chanwoo. On ep 2, YG told Chanwoo he blended in well and that Jinhyeong didnt. 

We should have foreseen the results (OT6+Chanwoo) before we got noticed that we could vote.

How come we didnt realize from the beginning that most OT6 fans would vote for Chanwoo and try to do something about it beforehand? Especially after the fan meeting vote results were revealed....After witnessing that so many of them hated JinSeok. 

Watch this part where YG mentions that original members choose the final members: 40:56. In the end, YG didnt break up OT6 bond because he believed that was a biggest strength to their growth. 

Contrary to what we believed, M&M was not created to fix iKON's vocals. It was created to test Junhoe, Donghyuk and Yunhyeong and add someone who blended in so that YG would keep his word about changing the final line up.

Watch how he talks about placing the last 3 members through a test so they grow thick skin and don't get comfortable. 

We were blinded by that the belief that YG originally intended to find better vocalists and replaced original members. We overestimated him.

Don't be surprised if he drops Jinhyeong and Hongseok later on.  

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if they took BI's opinions into consideration, given how much they treat him like the golden boy. I just hope that isn't the sole reason Hongseok didn't make the line-up

The final team was decided from the beginning and the editing reflected that after Hongseok joined. Bi must have had a say in the final decision. The timing cannot be coincidental. 

Nope it said YGE.. it could be any of their staffs.. the fb comment said YG personally scouted him.. 

Do specifics really matter?

YG represents the company just like the staff carries out the wishes and plans of the company. Would would a staff personally scout Hongseok and pull him into the show without YG's knowledge and permission? 

The comment about Hongseok comes his brother on his personal Facebook which he made public again.

The translators of both posts are different and could have worded it differently. 

Mino was also scouted by YG/YGE.

I doubt Hongseok knew. 

I think YG did intend to add Jinhyeong as the last member but the rumors the emerged after the press conference threw off his course. You have to wonder why was Hongseok suddenly scouted and pulled into the show after 3 episodes.

Did Bobby, Jinhwan and Bi had a say over who was the last member from the beginning?

After meeting Hongseok, Bi strongly opposed to adding Hongseok to the team. Maybe thats part of the reason why YG didnt add Hongseok as the +1. Plus his own personal criticism of Honseok such as that he was not YG style or didnt fit in.
