  1. I don't know which are the actually good airports, either!!! re: Warrior, I dunno, maybe something will turn up in the Japan concerts or some other performance (they did some festival before the US tour and performed Warrior, but I don't remember finding a fancam with audio where I could tell). Hm, I guess next time I just have to quote you rather than rely on an intermediary. XD
  2. I thought they announced a full-scale SK tour after their Japanese debut in fall (presumably after a SK comeback).
  3. lulz, why not ask while the opera ppl are here. How is Sarah Brightman? Meh for opera, but then...?
  4. Actually, it was LA-SF-DC-NYC, so he got more ambitious, not less, as the tour went on. XD;;; It was because I was catching up on my tumblr backlog, so I wound up going through in reverse. (So you can putter through http://itsbap.com/tagged/m:fancam; most of the recent ones should be LOE-related, although there are also a couple of airport fancams. TAKE THAT, EXO!!!! B.A.P CAN ALSO TRAVERSE AIRPORTS!!!! I don't know which are the actually good ones, though.) Is it not falsetto in Burn It Up, either? o.o Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised, but it would be nice if he could redeem those first couple of live attempts back when they debuted. XD Hmph, how dare the @ notation be useless, though!! Did someone summon you over??? How did you know you were wanted? XD
  5. Even before the whistling started, I thought it was a Mariah song, though, just one I wasn't too familiar with. But I think I was actually thinking it was this:
  6. I legit thought this was supposed to be a Mariah Carey cover, not that I knew why she would cover MC for an Ellen appearance. o.o But looking at wiki, seems this is not a new observation or anything. XD;
  7. Well, yeah, of course he has everything to work on XD But I just meant if he wants it to sound like mix, I guess he still needs to do that with mask placement rather than head placement, no? So for that specifically he'd need to work on tension.... Hm, what about the C#5 at the end? In the SF vid, are the C#5s and D#5s he's doing instead of the G#5 etc. he did in NYC/DC head placement?
  8. So... he should work on his head placement? Unless I guess he wanted it to sound like mix, only he's currently not good enough to pull it off? (So if it's what he's aiming for, he doesn't need to work on head placement, he just needs to work on making it less tense?) What G#4 are you talking about? (And did you watch both DC and NYC?)
  9. Oh, I posted a while back asking if he'd improved (incrementally!!) from 1 of these vids; I reposted with additional vids because I finally went through the tumblr backlog and had them on hand (and knew chocopan is supposedly around). ^^;; Still confused, ahhhhmin, why can't you use more punctuation???? XD;;; So... When he goes "whoa" for G#5 and A#5, that is a heady mix, and it is ugh, but then he goes "ooh" on a bunch of notes, is that no longer heady mix? Is it falsetto or head voice, and is it good? And then, what seems to be his cutoff for good (or even just OK) in mix?
  10. lulz, you guys ignored my last post on this! XD Do you remember what you said his cutoff for ok was back on akp? Has it improved at all? I picked through the high notes in their title tracks and I don't think he has one above D5 or E5, so presumably it must have been below that before.... What is the G#5 and A#5, heady mix? Does he transition into falsetto a little bit after, or is that heady mix? (Do you mean he is not actually good for D5 and below, or do you mean "for his voice type just not good" referring to "ew"? XD ) Same question for you! But you mean the G#5 in the DC video? (If so, in what way was it actually ok. XD;;; )
  11. @xchocolatepandax since you are like the only vocal person who cares about Daehyun XD NYC: a... terrifying... G#5 at 2:16, followed by a better (??!?) A#5. Is this really falsetto? It sounds a bit unlike what he transitions into doing. How was the C#5 at the end? DC: I feel like the G#5 was a bit better here; it's after 2:30. Warning for terrible singing-along of fans. SF: He does mostly C#5s and D#5s instead ~1:10. C#5 at the end, I guess. LA was the same as SF afaict, can't find great fancams for it anyway. I also did watch other fancams, so... I think a lot of strain is for stylistic effect, he sang One Shot differently than he does on music shows. Probably takes too much effort to keep up the snarling and all. I can't tell if he's still lipsyncing the second half of the long descent in Warrior, either; he got better at blending if he is. XD
  12. lulz, who's responsible for that sort of thing? TS, or fans? It's like a month away! ^^;;
  13. Well, it's true. Ppl get too absorbed in the breakdown, but in most places there's an understanding that crossdressing is not that same as being a trans-person is not the same as the genitals on the person you want to have fun times with! But in some places (countries) the distinction is not so clear, apparently. OIC, at least there is that. I just assumed it was more SK shenanigans along the lines of "Kyuhyun is a bass". (And i think it's just unfamiliarity with specialized vocabulary... ppl here that I assume are native english speakers don't know what voice parts ppl are and some seem... confused about how notes work, so....)
  14. BTW, am excited about Wolf, not even gonna lie. XD They dropped the key as a whole (in the demo, singing started at F#4 (1:15); there was a G#5 at 2:44 (with some other torture before that), a sustained D#5 at 3:00), now singing starts E4 (at 1:15), I don't think things match note-for-note anymore, but there's an E5 at 2:44, and what happens at 3:00 seems to be a C#5. There's an E5 in "ad libs" around 3:15, sustained C#5 ~3:30, then some more (non-sustained) E5s. I think from the dance vid Chen does the heavy lifting? Also, so much for Duwhan being the only baritone in a vocal line in kpop. http://onehallyu.com/index.php?/topic/4737-for-the-like-5-fans-on-here-chaos-announces-break-up/
  15. (But sexuality is totally separate from gender identity, all lulz aside....) Eh, choirs are more like "can you sing in the range? OK, there you go." I think only opera does strict classifications properly. (For the girls, alto is not even a real voice part, but obviously it's used for choral music, so....) Nah, not on drugs, just ignorant and misled by Korea's shenanigans. Because they called IU's 3 notes at the end of Good Day "octaves", so when Daehyun did 7 of them suddenly it became 7 octaves. orz I was listening to it at the time and was like "... but the interval is a step??!!?!??" (Also, "... so if you slap this onto the song, will it sound like anything, or???") (Interestingly, they did correct this to "notes" when they held their concerts in the US (in their mini-profiles that they showed there); they also forgot to lie about their heights when they converted centimeters to feet&inches. ) @Ahmin, lulz, you want to believe Key's a baritone because he sounds like you and you don't want be a tenor, I see, I see! XD
  16. lulz, just now, by chance, I happened to see that King Records was Rain's Japanese label. So that's interesting~~
  17. I was gonna ask about King Records, but they have a wiki page. I don't follow j-music so I don't recognize anyone they manage (except the obvious, even if it's under a sub-label and some VAs). Seems like b.a.p could be their first korean import. But "large-scale domestic tour" surely = full album release, right????
  18. You click on a post you want to quote, and then you click on all the other posts you want to quote, and when you have all your eggs in the basket in the bottom right corner you should have a little thing popped up that gives you the option to "reply to N posts" or "clear", so you hit that up and everything gets shunted into the reply box and then you can start putting your replies. This is especially helpful if you are going through multiple pages of a thread (you might even be able to quote posts from a different thread, but I'm not certain about that), otherwise if all the posts you want to reply to are on the same page you can just go in order and hit "quote" "quote" "quote"....
  19. How is being a soprano more interesting except you'd be a different sex, too? I thought tenors got good lines, generally. I think being a contralto or countertenor should be the most interesting~
  20. lolololololol Well, I'm not a guy, so I don't have your issues. XD And it's not like I'm a contralto, anyway.... Besides, if you work enough on your falsetto, it doesn't seem like it should matter? (But you're a baritone or something, aren't you?)
  21. That was a joke. :p (Haha, oh, why? XD Now I want to know! I don't care about TT, you don't have to hold back on my account or anything.) Well, S2's the voice part that usually gets to sing melody and doesn't have to go too high (or low), so of course there are plenty. XD Alas that A2's lines are so often boring. :\
  22. Sehun is lead dancer and... the maknae. Maknae is a job, right. >.> I mean, I don't feel sorry for him, the guy seems to have a lisp, so he's already REALLY FRIKKEN LUCKY he got to debut, even in an idol group. (But I guess Ricky in Teen Top never sings anything either? I just inferred that second-hand or something.) lulz, so I have approximately Daesung's range. XD But I have literally sang every part but S2 in one particular 4-part female choir (THERE WERE ALWAYS PLENTY OF SOPRANO 2S AROUND, HAH.) Hm... maybe composers are more "creative" with the male singers than the female singers? Which is... unfair, considering the girls usually get the easier choreo, too. XD Is it different outside of kpop?
  23. I don't know how they sound either. >.> Well, there's definitely a difference from... D3-B5 vs. the edge notes. Well, ppl haven't heard much singing from Chanyeol before, so maybe "baritone" is a premature judgement. XD But yeah, I think he's likely to be one of the better singers outside of the vocal line... too bad Exo already has too many vocally irrelevant members and he is so "good" as a rapper. (Well, in the MAMA ep there were songs where Sehun had 2 words, so maybe they don't mind borking Exo-K's line distro even more than they already have....) EDIT: wait, is it more unusual for a girl to have 3 octaves than a guy? (I mean, with that range you wouldn't assume I were a guy, even a tenor, would you? o.O)
  24. BTW, there are some optimists out there. XD What's your thoughts on these? http://onehallyu.com/index.php?/topic/4249-minho-can-sing/ http://onehallyu.com/index.php?/topic/4160-chanyeols-sing-rap-chens-beatbox/ <--Chanyeol = the only good rapper in Exo and a baritone. I'm not saying to crash the threads, since this stuff isn't appreciated outside our little bubble, but how is it. XD
  25. I said I was a mezzo before, but I guess you forgot. :p (I don't have much formal training at all, most of my experience is from singing in choirs, but in high school the choir teacher was like "hey, I have a friend who's getting her degree in (music? music ed? vocal pedagogy? whaaa?) and she's interested in giving some one-on-one lessons to pick up some extra $$, who's interested?" so I did handful of lessons and she told me I was a mezzo.)
