[NB][Pann] Jessica's latest little fixer-upper
lepidoptery replied to versace's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Maybe she did just eat ramen? :p (Wonder why NB doesn't translate that as ramyun... shouldn't it be? Or is it just because ramen is more recognizable?) -
The only difference is the cover, though... I know JYPE doesn't do repackages (until now!!!) but have they done multiple covers before?

I don't think it's necessarily fixed (it's probably dependent on the fandom's buying habits and how many aren't in SK and how much they do/don't care about rankings.....)

What, wait a month? orz orz orz But Hanteo surely has to count the preorders in at some point... maybe it depends on the store and if they've shipped them out yet or w/e...? (Sometimes I read about supposed buybacks and half the time they mention suspiciously high sales on the weekend--or is that just Sunday? So does that mean sales are usually high on weekdays, ie. Monday should be a high sales day?)

? Would the first day usually include preorders?

OH, FINE. VOCALS THREAD. HEY, IGNORE THIS AGAIN. :pPpPpPpPp Mike Patton, how is he (actual singing starts around 2:00): EDIT: (Sort of) Covering Lady Gaga XDDDD http://youtu.be/xBE3CTcNa8I Other ways you might hear him that is... probably... irrelevant to the thread:

... why are you frowning, though? :\ I'm ethnically Chinese, but I'm american and my official name is anglican. And most of my peers who were like me also had anglican names rather than Chinese (mandarin) names. So I'm not especially familiar with Chinese names at all. (... and even if I were into M-Pop or C-Pop, half of the celebs seem to have anglican names of their own for whatever reason. O.o )

Hm. $49.99 on yesasia. At least there's no shipping on top of that. The matoki on the cover looks pretty cute. (Seems to be the crystalline statue, but it has eyes. Assuming the statue didn't. ^^;; ) Just got it from kpopmart after all. Interesting how the list price supposedly is $68.99 (hah!) I guess they can mark it down so far because they're an online store and they expect it to sell out fast (so they aren't keeping copies around in a warehouse for long or anything). (But then TS can't be making that much money off these.... :\ The previous photobooks were pretty big even if they weren't properly bound books or anything....)

Yeah, Japanese names usually have endings reserved for one gender (although I think the newer generation is getting more "creative" with their baby names... well, I guess that's how things go in and out of fashion.) But Chinese and Korean don't seem to have any syllables reserved one way or the other, so I really wouldn't know. (Oh right! Forgot, obv. ^^;; ) Who knows, it could have been her ~~first crush~~--or the name of some celebrity or a character they like.

Share? (Who are you again? orz ) I thought Kongwee was Chinese in Singapore, but that doesn't help me (chinese-american); I'm more likely to be able to identify what gender a name is supposed to be in Japanese than either Chinese or Korean. But it's... oh, I guess it's still Chinese, not Malay/Tamil. (Is it?) (But it might not be their actual name, anyway...)

Hm. Well. Jonghyun has very impressive lung capacity, anyway. (Which is more stable when they're dancing and singing at the same time, though?) Well, when I said aki-or-jiyul, I meant one of you with the Jessica icon referred to kongwee as she, and I~~~~ had no idea which of you it was. You and me both. I am not hip, evidently.

People are just gonna ignore me again if I bring up Mike Patton, right? :p
-
But take a look at what I said re: the OP, ok?
-
I am not sure if it is a problem with the language or if you are just ignoring things that seem obvious to everyone else. Resonance is an effect that is caused by "proper" technique. When you are utilizing certain placements to achieve this effect, people call it "resonating" in those areas, because the feeling/action of doing so produces the effect of resonance. Because you can have this same feeling in your nose area, it might be referred to as "resonating" in your nose, but "nasal resonance" does not produce the actual effect of resonance. That's why people in the thread discount it, but there is some tolerance for the existence/usage of the term "nasal resonance" because it is in semi-regular use (the term, that is). The OP here (which I assume is very similar if not the same as the OP on akp) goes fairly thoroughly into why nasality/being nasal is incorrect and impedes resonance. Again, this is not a thread about "who is a successful singer" for the millionth time. You can just put up a popularity poll to figure that out. I do think there is a slight issue with the OP. "Resonance" is referred to several times before it is actually defined. The closest thing to a definition appears all the way down in "What is good technique", and it's just "Resonance is the amplification of sound, carrying power and richness." First of all, I kind of think this should go right in front of "The Basics". Second, I'm not sure if it entirely conveys that "resonance" is jargon rather than being used colloquially. "Resonance is achieved by the ideal shaping or manipulation of the vocal tract" suggests it, but I wouldn't really blame someone for thinking "so resonance is when someone's voice is loud and still has a nice (subjective) tone". The first video under the second cut might help with that, but I'm not sure since I haven't seen it recently, and it is also all the way down there, you know? ALSO, SOMEONE POST SOME BOM VIDS ALREADY.

Mastered in what ways?
-
Because you ignore what everyone says and means until they say something you can twist into something you imagine they mean. But you're basically just making things up. If you're unwilling to communicate, there's no point to your being here.

Do you want to make a note that he's 177cm in SK and 5'8" (173cm ) IN AMURIKKA?

Now I wonder if the person who typed me as a mezzo was correct. XD;; Well, I haven't really tried to sing that way in a while now (I live in an apt, so I kind of don't want to sing at full volume at home or anything. >.>)

I can't remember if Ock Joohyun ever came up in the thread before (nor have I found her in this thread): http://onehallyu.com/index.php?/topic/5399-she-used-to-be-in-the-same-group-wioth-lee-hyori/ Is she something other than a lyric soprano, at least?
-
Not really for him, though; for anyone who might be wandering by the thread and wondering why ppl here all seem to hate on Bom. (And for my amusement. Do you not understand the importance of this???? )
-
Oh, so you are Chung. Hm.... Yes, I was definitely there when the kongwee showed up the first time. >.> But somehow I forgot how pointless attempting to communicate is. (Still, I think it is healthy for the thread whenever more videos are posted to accompany statements being made on any particular singer. And like I said, I kind of love Bom videos. XD;;;)

HEY EVERYBODY, DID PARK HYO SHIN BRING HIS PLACEMENT FORWARD OR WHAT?????? This is definitely something some other ppl should get in on. XD I just want to say that I feel like I can get a round/full sound when I pull (not in a technical sense, just what I feel) it all into my throat, but from the few one-on-one lessons I've had with a vocal instructor who actually had things to teach me about placement, you should be using forward/mask placement (in order to be resonant, I realized way after the fact). It seems to me that he brought it more to his mask, which should be an improvement, but I'm not actually sure that's what's going on. XD My own fault for responding to them as if there is secretly a reasonable person somewhere under there. ~.~ When you guys say "explode" or "goes off", do you mean the same thing and do you mean a negative thing? (Or... if Mariah > Beyonce as I assumed was the case, I guess you mean Mariah's voice outperforms Beyonce's by a lot at that point?)

Which male idols do you think are gay?
lepidoptery replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
I don't especially think the director is trying to get Key to out himself. I might be mistaken, but--well, perhaps SM cannot necessarily control him on this, but if nothing else SM is highly unlikely to look favorably on him doing so. Trangenders may suffer similar stigmas and challenges as gay people do, but it is not the same condition, is all I meant. I don't know what you are referring to when you say "my opinion"? I was teasing the person I quoted. And then in the next section I suggested a possibility regarding ppl's response to their oppars being rumored to being in a relationship with a possibly more influential male in the industry in order to play devil's advocate, but for the most part I just assume fans are probably being assholes. (But honestly, once the news came out about Tony An and Hyeri from Girl's Day, pretty much everyone seemed to immediately assume it was a sponsorship rather than a legitimate relationship. (Or course, they also looked down on her for it, because I doubt anyone is as invested in Hyeri as they are in, say, Key--fewer fans to insist on your "innocence" or whatever. >.>)) -
I think she must have done some arrangements, because in the leaked tracklist (which turned out to be accurate, if with spelling errors) she is the first composer listed. So at least she had as much to do with Oolf as YYJ did with IGAB (which isn't much), but possibly more, since he was the last composer and not the first. Ahmin should see if he likes Baby, though (not Baby Don't Cry) because she has writing and composing credits for that and I think there is not a million other names on there. Baby is boring to me, though. XD Tracklist under the cut; ppl thought it was wrong because 3.6.9 (lulz) and they were like "wtf, Exo-K version? This is in english and korean so it's not the M album, obviously it's fake" but the misspelling aside and omission of the mandarin version of Wolf, it was correct, and Ryan Jhun verified that he worked on Peter Pan. So I think the credits information is probably accurate.
