  1.

While one member is singing the others need to make it difficult for her.

It is written in the hat how.

Kissing, hugging, screaming, tickling, clapping, singing along etc. xD

    It is always very fun

Here "Oh My Girl" version! lovestruck.png

lol, seems you and the other person who answered me katsu have similar tastes XD

  2. idk if this actually happened but some twt wizards were joking about how sakura was getting upset seeing their first day sales in korea before the others told her those numbers are considered GREAT for kpop lol! ofc it's gonna be hard to replicate the kind of sales super groups in jp usually have bc then you have the collective muscle of every member's wotas - but they're still going to probably break some records tbh. and remember physical is what brings in the big bucks in the end. it doesn't look as impressive here on OH bc users here tend to focus on and publish endless threads about streaming/digital sales, but there's a reason why a market like jp is so big in comparison to kr. smile.png

btw guys what's that poll about? :D mint choco?

It was a joke here, too... but honestly, it's pretty silly to even pretend Sakura doesn't understand what drives 48G sales better than maybe even fans do.  She knows she hasn't been scheduled for a week of 8-hour handshake shifts.

HKT48's most recent single in May (4 versions) sold ~300k... Sakura and Nako were there but the number is kind of low, so I wonder why.  Peak HKT single sales seems to be in 2015-2016.  (Well, the number that is low is the Billboard Japan chart... maybe streaming will eventually pull those numbers up.)  Presumably this does not include some international sales, but if ColorIz has any sort of longevity I wonder if the Gaon numbers might come close to HKT48 single sales.

  3. But wasn't a protest made regarding his songs being too overly sexual for another said group a few months ago and was cancelled. That's why i'm actually curious

For me, the genre of the song really makes a difference whether it will do well on the Japanese market

Akimoto is a lyricist and he can write lyrics on a range of topics.  I doubt he would do something that would be detrimental to IZ1.  IZ1 already has 48G members, so there's no point dissociating from Akimoto.  It's not really the same as with BTS.

  4. Yeah each album in the set will be signed so thats 40,000 copies if they completely sell out, gonna be some long nights signing albums between promotions for the next few weeks

Thinking about it... they want to guarantee 100k sales at least, heh.

AND THEN, FANSIGNS.  (Unless they've already set up lotteries for some, I dunno.)

  5. There are only 10000 of each (rose, color and set) once theyre gone, theyre gone. They havent set an end to the order period yet but the meet&greet airs on Nov 19 so it will end for sure before then, but i assume they will just sell out well before that anyway. Already 120+ unique orders with lots of people ordering multiple copies since there is a benefit to the person who orders the most copies, top right now bought 12 and several have bought 8, 4, 2 etc..

30000 copies, huh.  So each girl had to sign 2500x, whew.  (Or more if they had to sign each one in the set, I guess.)  Since kpop idols come up with those weirdly elaborate "signatures" it takes a while, too.  If they were able to sign at a rate of 4/min it would still take each girl 10 hours.  Understandably, they're not going to allow an unlimited supply of these.

  6. I feel like it's understandable that some people would vent their frustration about other parts of the fandom in this thread... it is the IZ1 thread, so it's not not the right place to do it.  But if a particular situation on a youtube vid is upsetting, it would be better to present it more like "this vid is infested by sadsacks hating on Wonyoung, please go upvote and make some nice comments!" rather than "YOU KNOW WHOSE FANS ARE SO PATHETIC RAAARRGH".

Also, someone got scolded for linking NB here... if you'd actually gone to the link, the article was about the Blue House petition reaching 27k signatures, and all the comments were about how the people signing the petition were pathetic, hypocrites who probably visit Japan and wear Uniqlo, and IZ1 doesn't deserve the hate.  Upvotes weren't off the charts, just in the hundreds, but that's not a total nothing article with top upvotes in the tens.  So you don't have to overreact and throw out the baby with the bathwater.

(There was at least one small situation here earlier but everyone just used their reports buttons and it went away quietly, so go us.)

  7. All I know is Minjoo should start working as an actress now.

    Her visual seriously turns head

    DqxyVY5WkAAazWJ.jpg

She's already an actress... also, now is not the time to be distracted from group activities.

IZ*ONE 1st in first day album sales on Tower Records Japan

We gonna get the numbers next week I think

This is probably very good, but also possibly just so-so... what I mean is most physical sales in Japan are heavily front-loaded, and new releases come out on Tuesdays, so not only are none of the other entries on the chart at peak sale strength, I'm pretty sure none are strong sellers anyway (the #2, Chatmonchy, seems to have peak singles positions barely in the top 10?)  So getting #1 isn't impressive in itself (although it would have been a really bad sign if they hadn't gotten #1), but their sales number could still be quite high! smile.png

    starts from 6:00 PM KST

    seriously, after KBS?! amgplz.png

It's standard to not allow Japanese lyrics to be broadcast on the public broadcast stations, so this isn't really a big deal.

  8. This makes me wonder, is it known how they divided their dorms, the way they did? I mean Sakura, Nako and Hitomi with Chaeyeon, Yuri and Wonyoung? Cuz it seems to me, from what I have seen, Chaeyeon, Yuri and Wonyoung are the best at Japanese, or am I wrong?

    ---

On a different note, I just wanted to ask something, no hidden intention, just pure curiosity.

I know it’s an exclusive contract, but is it exclusive for the whole 2.5 years or is it somehow flexible after a specified period of time?. I mean, 2.5 years is not really that much but it is at the same time lol, if you know what I mean. Eunbi for example is like what? 23-24 now but after the contract is up she will be 25+?. What will their companies do then? Put on hold for a whole 2.5 years their plan to debut new girl groups, if any?. I’m just curious.

But the only sure thing is Starship. They should be smoking a cigar and drinking whiskey right now as their baby monsters get bigger and bigger during this 2.5 years and when done, they will be more than ready to go, full with their own thing (Wonyoung and Yujin’s potential is pretty scary tbh), no need to rush for them.

What do you think their companies will do then?

or just don't mind me lol

I was wondering, too... At first I thought they might have alternated age-wise because I know Eunbi is oldest and Yujin is second-youngest while Sakura is second-oldest and Wonyoung is youngest (and I wasn't sure about anyone else) but that wasn't it... they must have put all the Japanese together so no one was too isolated.  I thought Yujin was also supposed to be good at Japanese?  (Something I'd heard during Produce48, I think.)  But you could be right.

It was finally announced weeks after the end of P48 that the contract was indeed exclusive for the whole 2.5 years.  As expected, fans of J-line were pretty upset for them.

Starship is indeed in the bestest position at all... I was thinking that even while fans were just speculating about what the contract terms would be.  Eunbi will be a bit on the older side but I think she'll just be a little older than when Irene (I was under the impression that Irene debuted at 25 but I checked and I think she was just 23) Bom/Dara debuted at that point and I feel like she'll really become popular with IZ1 so overall it's a good deal.  (In contrast, if Gaeun had gotten in I feel like it would really have been pretty much the end for her being a girlgroup member once IZ1 dissolved... although I think Kahi herself debuted in AS when she was 28 or something.)

The timing seems acceptable for Woollim, too... 2010 Infinite, 2014 Lovelyz, 2017 Golden Child, and then a 2020/2021 girlgroup wouldn't be too much of a stretch.  Hm... by then Lovelyz will be up for contract renewal... could be awkward.

  9. IDK if anyone else feels the same way but I kinda feel bad for Yena. I feel like she was kinda pressured into being a rapper but in reality, she wanted to a vocalist. I don't personally know her so she might actually be thinking the opposite but that's kinda what I observed from watching her videos.

Well of course she was pressured into it, but it was the producers' choice and it turned out well.  I can't see IZ1 having much rap as a whole and she still gets some singing parts so it's not so bad.  And the rap portion often stands out a little which is a benefit, I guess.  Other producers might decide other members would sound good rapping as things progress, many of the others have done some rap in PD48.

I finally finished up ep1 of IZ12... seems like the producers really were impressed by Nako's korean and singing and thought her voice was perfect for the one part... but there wasn't much of that part and Hitomi got the other part (their voices do have some characteristics in common) /so ultimately she didn't have many lines.

Unlike height, women's voices become fully mature around 25yo, iirc.  I wonder how many of the girls voices will noticeably mature in their time in IZ1.  There was one short video where Wonyoung and Yuri were asked to sing (a song that cheers them up or something?) and I was surprised that Wonyoung's voice didn't seem high-pitched at all there.

  10. No, that's not what I meant by being blocked there. I meant, being properly blocked by public channels from performing on their shows and competing for their weekly prize. I.O.I was banned on Inkigayo, Music Core & Music Bank, they never could appear on there nor compete for the weekly prize, because SBS, KBS & MBC had banned I.O.I from their broadcasts, because the group was from a Mnet survival show, and they feared the competition and were petty as hell.

Ironically, I.O.I still won once on Inkigayo because they just couldn't deny their power and numbers, but they managed to never invite them anyway.

W1 wasn't blocked from anything, were they?

    6. [+53, -21] Screw off from Korea ã…¡ã…¡ who do you think you are, you right-wing Japanese tsk tsk, just screw off

OK, but it seems like it Hyewon was the one who brought it up, not J-line....

Without the moral support of people watching things with me, I'm only 4 parts into IZ12 (chu=2 (in a cutesy way) so I think I'll abbreviate like this for now) so I dunno how long it will take me to watch all the variety appearances. orz

I see them too in youtube. I think it's insulting to curse SEA people. They are not the only nationality that likes izone. Sakura for example have a lot of fans from china and japan and they are very vocal and loud in their support.

I think some SEA fans must have been pretty vocal on certain platforms before, but koreans also are happy to look down on SEA countries. >.>;;  Whereas they may hate Japan and to a lesser extent China but they are considered powerful countries so they don't look down on them even if they may disparage their respective idol scenes (or propensity for "plagiarism" in China's case).

  11. So is there no IZ1Chu thread?  I went and looked in the variety shows section and there didn't seem to be.  When does it air?  Is there a free stream (for non-premium subscribers or whatever)?  Does anyone here want to watch the stream and comment in this thread like we did for PD48?

  12. The first iz1chu subs i know release was by VIU. They had released it i think less than 12 hours after the show ended. Though free to watch, premium users are the only one with early access while other have to wait a certain period. It was eventually ripped and shared by other sites. This is where i watched PD48 and Iz1Chu

Oh, so VIU are translating Chu too, that's good.

  13. So I guess we have IZSubs who will eventually sub things (are they related to PD48Subs? Are PD48Subs ever going to release ep12?  Will ep11 ever get released in a more compressed form so it's not like 5gb even though the ep isn't any longer than the others?!?!) but it seems like someone going by Yoon kkura on youtube is also doing english subs for iz1chu and has it out faster?  What have people been watching?  I remember someone posted links earlier in this thread but I've lost it by now and I'm not sure it was english subs... I downloaded the ep from somewhere but it was raw. :(  And some of the other links my antivirus didn't like. >.>;;;

i just saw this on twitter...

Minjoo's arm also doesn't look really normal... is this a posed photo or a screenshot where she's in the middle of motion?

  14. i don't see anything wrong with the line distribution, like people have said its probably all down to pronunciation. Whilst they sound OK singing the lines they do have in the songs it does sound a little off (obviously they've only been learning for like 2 months) and if they were to get more lines than they did now i think it would slightly affect the feel of the song. Really don't worry about that, as their skills improve they'll definitely get more lines. Nako's pronunciation is probably the best out of the 3 and she's one of the noted vocalists so I think Nako will start getting a lot more lines with coming promotions.

As for the choreo... yeah its disappointing, there's no reason they couldn't have showcased J-line better within the performance. Especially given Sakura has perhaps the biggest fanbase of the group.

For Nako and Hitomi, I think it's between their being comfortable with korean (which affects their singing) and their actual vocal tone.  Producers usually have discretion in choosing who sings what so beyond being told that Wonyoung should be the center and highlighted a bit, the line distro is about what I'd expected.  And Wonyoung didn't actually get a lot of lines or anything, she just got some key parts (opening and closing, a short line in each chorus, that sort of thing).  Nako and Hitomi have very high-pitched, kind of childish voices, and Sakura does not, so Sakura got more than Nako even though most people would consider Nako the better singer.  But since Sakura's not actually considered one of the better singers (or a rapper), naturally she got fewer lines than Yuri/Eunbi/Chaewon/Chayeon/Yujin/Yena, and then Wonyoung being the center naturally got a bit more than her, and then Sakura got more than the last 4 including Minjoo.

    Mess, previously post didn't appear...

OTR is doing great with IZ*ONE's debut, but they did a mistake in Sakura's choreography in the back. Her fans are right to be unhappy, this just create a lot of unnecessary drama that could be easily prevented.

I feel like it wasn't bad in the MV itself.  Obviously her fans want more, because fans always do, but she was shown in all of her singing parts, there was just one where it cut away a little earlier to Wonyoung whose part was coming up next.  There were also parts where Wonyoung and Yuri were singing and Sakura was in front of them.  I think they could have given J-line a little more extra shots during parts where they weren't singing, maybe, since those who sang more wound up getting more focus as a result and then later when they started inserting shots of other members during some of those extended lines it seemed to often be members who already had decent screentime due to lines.

Looking at the performance version... ok, so sometimes when she's not singing she's in the back... like half of the girls.  Next.

  15. hmmm this doesn't seem official. whats the source on this?

yena and nako both being only subvocal doesn't make sense honestly. they should both be on vocal line

Nako didn't get much in the title track (not sure how the line distro shakes out in the other songs yet).  But yeah, this doesn't seem official.  Somehow OTR only sending Sakura and Minjoo to the fashion show = the only visuals, pfft, whereas Chaewon is "supposed to be" a main vocal because Woollim considers her their best singer, but if anyone (else) is main vocal on the title track it would be Eunbi.  Anyway, the other reason I doubt this is people (fans) just seem to skip plain vocal and go straight to subvocalist.  I don't think people usually introduce themselves as subvocalists anyway.  You know it happens but the company isn't gonna label the members like that.
