In all honesty I don't think those "lessons" are actually intended for its real purpose as many idols are still lacking so much when it comes to singing, dancing or rapping. 2/3rd of EXO's vocal line (Chen, Baek) were the last to come into SM. I think it's more about forging relationships with their future teammates and also a way for the companies to test out their personalities and see their resilience. Truth is, the schedule of a successful idol group is going to be more crushing, their social life is going to be isolated and they have to deal with rumours in a larger magnitude so the "trainee life" is really just a mini simulation. Having said that, I do think that the "trainee life" is kind of romanticised and is getting obsolete. Back in the past when Korea was poorer, I think families were more willing to put their children through this and let education take a backseat. These days I think it's quite impossible for any parents to accept this.

But you can't deny a large reason why she's so in the spotlight and talked about negatively is due to the excessive favouritism she receives. The pressure she's receiving from YG himself and then the excess scrutiny she gets from the public due to YG's favouritism must be terrible on her mental health.
