I also have to say that thanks to fandom culture and powerful companies covering up, usually these idols take a veryyyyyyy long time to be taken down. Even after they've been exposed for 1 or 2 bad incidents, they always recover and become even bolder. But actually on hindsight all their shit was in plain sight. Alot of times they even publicly make jokes, write lyrics or openly talk about their stories (heavily censored ofc).

Who is the most likeable idol nowadays in your opinion?
domination replied to pinkpanda_spirit's topic in Random
Yea kpop is a total lie if he turns out to be trash. Afterall he's only 22 this year and we've seen him promote extensively since 2016 when he was like 17. Can't comment on the future but I like to think his past 5 years should be clean. I honestly don't even put him on a pedestal and regard him as perfect, angelic or something extreme like that, especially not after the whole Yunho issue. But he just seem pretty real and a nice decent person overall. Well he actually does curse accidentally when he speaks in English. And neither does he say those overly cheesy sweet stuff. I think it's just easier to relate to him since he's western raised and see him as an actual person. I just don't get any douchey vibe from him. -

Mark Lee tbh. He's likeable in a way that's not fake. Since he works like 24/7 and he's also western raised I think what we get from him is quite the real deal. -

It's not hard to see why he was pushed so hard. In a group like NCT singing, dancing or rapping very well is just not going to cut it. Being Chinese or foreign born Korean is quite common, Thai or Japanese is also not really a novelty. He was a HK-Thai mixed blood with really outstanding visuals. In a large group like NCT, it's things like that which will make him stand out. But yes he needs to be dropped because WayV is definitely not going forward in China if he's still in the Group.

SM promoted the shit out of him and ignored so many other more deserving members of NCT. His family isn't rich and he's obviously a cheapo so it's not like he bribed SM. This is really disgusting and poor judgement of SM. I get that his face brings money but a guy like him must have been causing problems within the team too, his ego must be over the top with all the favouritism + fans he was getting. And now that he's caught he is bringing down the entire NCT brand name.

Just because we had a demon like Kris Wu doesn't mean the "not as bad" scandals should be overlooked. Of course this is a "private affair" but sorry hon, never a fan of fuckbois. Personality is a part of being a kpop idol. There's so many kpop idols to stan anyway, especially when there are other more hardworking, talented idols with better personality out there which deserve all the success and love. Fandom culture is a perfect enabler for fuckbois behaviour and their ego so it's best to weed them out when exposed. The problem with Kris was that he started as a fuckboi too and always got away with scandals....leading him to where he is now.

It's ridiculous but that's what Makjang is for. S1 was intriguing and people could look past the ridiculousness, S2 was quite decent but come S3 alot of people lost interest and are watching just to have closure. Quite honestly this is common with those American shows that tend to decrease in quality over seasons.

Is a vicious cycle with narcissistic people tbh. Have it easy in some aspects of life ------> instead of being appreciative they think it's because they are the hottest shit ------> doesn't do anything to improve oneself -------> lag behind others -------> put others down over the smallest of thing to reaffirm themselves

[NB] Kris Wu's youngest alleged victim is 12 years old
domination replied to Youahaen's topic in Netizen Nation
Conviction rate is super duper high in China like 99.6% or something so he's pretty much a goner. I'm positive he's dumped by his backers so Chinese media is now on the flip side. He actually had massive support previously and survived many past scandals, most of them in relation to his relationship with young girls. He's been known to be messy with sex and only go for young impressionable girls since 2016 or earlier but somehow could still land gigs after gigs. -
Her political controversy was really difficult for them to handle, I'm surprised they didn't drop her like a hot potato. Not that I'll blame JYP as I think it's nothing wrong for a Korean company to have washed their hands off, neither is it Tzuyu's fault too. Also, with her being non Korean, the language barrier and inherent preference for a Korean would've been a hindrance to her becoming the next Suzy, though I agree JYP could've done more like what they did for Nichkhun.

Oh dear I honestly can't take the Saint Yunho image which SM keeps force-feeding us -
Lbr there is no way he is getting the death penalty, especially since he holds a Canadian citizenship and I doubt the Chinese government want this to blow bigger than it already is because of "face". The most optimistic will be that he gets jailed but realistically speaking he's probably going to piss off to Canada quietly.

[NB] Kris Wu's sex scandal reveals harrowing details
domination replied to Youahaen's topic in Netizen Nation
His mum is shady af. His Canadian citizenship obviously costed alot of money so God knows how his mum funded it especially when she's supposedly a single parent. If she earned it through legitimate means by being in a high paying career, then I doubt she would've dropped everything and be so overwhelmingly involved in her son's stardom full time. -
Alot of Chinese celebrities dropped their citizenship and went for western, HK or Singapore ones even after they became famous. Clearly it's not that big of a hindrance and the western citizenship has a bigger appeal. Besides, I'm sure his mum spent lots of money and effort getting him the Canadian citizenship.
-
Why would anyone give up a Canadian citizenship for a Chinese one? It was probably not easy for his mum to get him the Canadian one in the first place. If he did get a Chinese citizenship I'm sure it would've been more well known, esp since these days all c celebrities are supposed to blast nationalistic propaganda praising the country and CCP which Kris does too. LOL
