Heeeyy folks.
Just unlurking to say that I was just hit with a sudden wave of nostalgia.
I feel like these past few months I have just been riding the wave of BTS' achievements like it was nothing. Probably because they didn't change a thing (their prestige did but the Boys didn't) so they remained the Bangtan I knew and loved these past five years. But after the Dome Tour announcement, I realized how large the following of the boys grew. I don't know if this was my late reaction or whatever but it felt like yesterday when they announced they'd be joining the V App (remember how in their promotional poster V was the only idol not doing the V-sign cause his name is V lmao) and now they have 10 million followers.
Wow, time really does fly fast. I hope this won't be the end for the boys. They deserve the universe and more.
A little annoying gnawing thought on my mind: I'm actually afraid I won't be able to see BTS in real life. There's no concert area close to me and as a college student, I can't afford to buy airplane tickets and the hotel accommodations even if I try to save for a year. But you know what? I'm just going to trust BTS and how they told us they're going to be together for so long. As long as BTS stays intact, there will be hope.

I just saw a vid from Hyorin performing Dallas and how come she doesn't look sexy to me?
Compare these two vids I stumbled upon
Hyuna is more covered compared to Hyorin but she feels more seductive. Seeing Hyorin do all those moves does not move me at all? Like there's no sexiness despite the concept.

Omg RM recommended a song by Billie. My heart....
re:rumored repack comeback
My heart is torn. I know that before they disappear for their tour, BTS is going to release one last content yet I didn't think it will be a repackage. However, I also know that there must be a reason why they're doing this. It just feels so fast~~~ I don't want to sound so spoiled but are we not going to get anything at the fourth quarter? Perhaps I got used to long periods before comebacks.
How about this: repack on Aug. release of a single at the fourth quarter while they're touring ??

Long time lurker. Created an account just to say this:
I think a discussion on ARMY/fandom's in general and what's happening and what seems to be the trend is a long overdue discussion.
Let me start by saying I am not attacking anyone or singling anyone out and you will see that reflected in the type of language used. More than anything the goal of this is to just make as many people aware of what's going on and why it is not and should not be acceptable. The only reason I am addressing this more towards ARMY is because it is the fandom that I am most familiar with and was a part of, but this is by no means JUST an ARMY thing, but ARMY may arguably be the biggest culprit of it currently.
I started being a fan of BTS about 1 year and 2 months ago. I am not as old a stan as some, nor am I as new as some either. I have a bias, his name is Jungkook. I support BTS as best as I can. I vote. I buy their songs digitally. I occasionally buy physical albums. I stream on multiple platforms. I am going to their concert when they are in town. I want BTS to do well. I want Jungkook to do well.
There have been some times where I have been incredibly proud to be ARMY, but there are times where I am honestly embarrassed at what I see on Twitter, Instagram, and gradually even here on the sub-reddits. These embarrassing times are growing, fast. Now let me be clear that I know not everything is bad. I have personally met 4 incredible people, people I consider close friends, just by being a fan of BTS. I stan BTS. I am a fan of BTS, of that there is no question and no doubt. Do I consider myself ARMY right now? Would I consider myself as part of any fandom? Quite frankly, no, and here's why.
In the end it comes down to respect, or rather a lack of respect for people who are multi's, those who have biases, other groups, other groups' fans.
I enjoy the music of multiple other groups. I love Blackpink songs. I have some Big Bang songs. I have some RV songs, Mamamoo songs, Wanna One songs, Seventeen songs, EXO songs. Being a multi does not make me or anyone else any less of a fan than someone who only supports one group. As humans, we are allowed to have our opinion, have our likes and dislikes.
On the other hand, having a bias and wanting our bias to do well also does not make any of us less of a fan of the entire group. A prime example of this is the recent Euphoria trend that started in Korea and gradually seeped through to international fans. Wanting a studio copy of Euphoria because we don't have one, or bringing attention to a song that deserved more attention is not wrong. It does not make us a solo stan. It does not EVER justify attacking someone with a bias personally or asserting they are just a solo stan. These personal attacks, bullying, harassment of people who have publicly shared a different opinion are cruel. I have seen people get bullied and harassed off of a platform because of just an opinion they've shared. It's not right, it's cruel. We are all people, we can have our own opinions.
Think about how attacking someone will affect their mental state. Depression is a very real thing, and it does not take a lot to set off a chain of events that you really do not even want to fathom. I know, because I've been there. For a specific example that ARMY reading this will know, just look at Headliner and the kinds of things she has had to deal with: death threats, threats to her family, threats disguised as orders etc. I am certain this type of thing occurs in other fandom's too. Understand that when this happens, they are NOT supporting the group. They are embarrassing the group, and themselves. This type of behavior should be condemned, not celebrated. It should be stopped, not circulated to the masses. Understand and realize that doing any of these malicious things under the guise of supporting BTS or whatever group it may be does NOT help that group whatsoever. In fact, as it pertains to BTS, a lot of people are scared to give BTS a try because of the fandom. Are we really supporting BTS when this is the case?
The same applies with trashing and talking down other groups or their fans. It certainly appears that ARMY is the biggest culprit of this because quite frankly it seems like BTS' success has made a vast portion of fans extremely arrogant and egotistical (I do know that ARMY are not the only one's who trash groups). BTS' success can not be used to attack other groups or think of other groups as inferior. The whole debacle today and yesterday with the FIFA voting and other fandom's supporting EXO's Power just so BTS does not win is at least 50% the fault of ARMY, likely more. It's a direct result of all the incendiary things that have been said, all the "wars" that have happened. Yet still, after the voting was over there are still so many who have stuck to the same old ways. Did BTS deserve to win? Yes. Did EXO also deserve to win? Yes. And guess what, both songs are being played. There is nothing wrong with believing one favorite group is the best, but there's no need to put down other groups or their fans. The other groups are talented too. They have good songs too. They also have dedicated fans that just want to see their group succeed. BTS, EXO, Blackpink etc. will never ask fans to put down the other groups. Look at their interactions at award shows. They support each other. They're friendly to each other, and most of all, you can see how much respect each and every group has for one another.
In the end all this comes down to respect. If nothing else, respect that the other groups work hard. Respect that they too have dedicated fans. Respect the fact that they put out music that people enjoy. Respect that there is a HUMAN BEING behind that Twitter/Instagram account. No one is saying that one has to help another group stream or win awards or anything of the sort, but it is entirely possible to respect all groups and their fans while STILL supporting the group you love most. The two are not mutually exclusive. Just like how being a multi but having one favorite is not mutually exclusive. Having a bias and still supporting the entire group is not mutually exclusive. It does not make you less of a fan. It certainly does not make any of those who attack other fans and groups any more of a fan. We are all better than this. We can all get along. There are respectful ARMY's, EXO-L's, Blinks, VIP's, and more out there. There is room in the KPop genre for all the groups. There is success to be had for all the groups.
For the ARMY reading this, and for the other's who've made it this far, indulge me one last paragraph. Remember the "Love Yourself" message. I believe it is a message that says we should strive to be better than ourselves the previous hour, day, week, month, year. We should be comparing ourselves to ourselves, not to others. Extend that beyond and realize that BTS and all the records they've broken, the next time around they are competing against themselves. If they end up surpassing some other record they didn't have, great. If they don't, that's okay too. You can see it in what each member says, they just want to be better than they were. Another example, Blackpink now holds the record for most MV views by a kpop group in 24 hours now. The next time Blackpink comes back they'll be going up against that record they got. The point is not to beat other groups and try to monopolize everything. It's about beating the previous result that the group had themselves. I think the sooner more fans realize this the happier and less stressed they will be, and the better the relationship fan's will have with each other.Hi~~~ Welcome to onehallyu and welcome to the MT.I am by no means saying you're less of an ARMY just bec you just stanned the boys for a year but as someone who has been there for them for four years straight, I can tell you that it is by no means ARMY's fault for being the lone man in an island.BTS has always been shit on by Kpop for so long. Not just by Korean networks but by Kpop fandoms themselves. Rookie era BTS might not have been as hated as current era BTS simply because people loved preaching for underrated groups so when BTS started to get noticed during Fire era, these same people who said "BTS is so underrated they deserve fame" vaporized out of thin air. They started to get threatened. And what does a threatened person do? They drag the groups back.Over time, BTS' grow started to outshine Kpop. And as a fan, I am happy about it. Kpop fans should be happy too, considering it will open new doors for them. But what did they do? They formed alliances AGAINST BTS instead. Have you heard about their death threats? The BREAK WINGS plan? The Plagiarism hashtag? How they edited gifs of V just to make him look like an "abuser"? And the recent Fifa poll?Of course, I am not supporting trashing groups but the majority of the time, it is never ARMYs who started fights. Yeah, there are fanwars here and there but only when the other fans try to drag BTS first. But never targeted threats. One army or two, but never tens of thousands (re: enough to trend)Tell me, why should I support or form an alliance with the fandom who plans the downfall of my faves every single era?I wouldn't even know BP got the youtube record if it wasn't for OH. On my twitter side, we were just celebrating the new Run ep and making memes out of it. Also, maybe if someone's mental health is being impacted solely by Kpop, they should temporarily stop being a fan. Or just follow less problematic twitter fans or block those that create messy tweets? It's a funny thing to say when I'm writing this essay but: Kpop is never that deep.ARMY is a big ass fandom so it means we're gonna have lots of problematic stans and nonproblematic stans too. We can't police other people. The only person we can police is ourselves and how we handle these things.I don't even know where I'm going anymore but honey, let me tell you this: Kpop has always been a competition. Kpop will die the second all fandoms become united.-

please don't reply or quote the spoilered content below. just ignore it please
This is the very first time I'm going to address this issue in words and not just as a passing thought.
I have a very unhealthy eating attitude. I obsess on exercising and losing weight and every day I'm getting more and more frustrated about myself, saying I didn't exercise well, I should have just eaten less, or I should have fasted longer. I became obsessed with being thin it's actually scary. I can tell the calories of any food you put in front of me. Tonight, I just had the first meal that's past 9pm after three or four months. I can't eat using normal-sized plates now. I got used to eating using a small ass saucer (yes, that little plate you put under your tea/coffee cup). I think my stomach has started to shrink because even though I've been eating small portions, halfway through the meal, I'm already full.
I'm actually glad that I live with my parents now because if I lived alone, maybe I would have starved myself more. It's a scary thought - the things I can do to myself if left unattended. I guess I'm suffering from anorexia nervosa or that other exercise obsession eating disorder or body dysmorphia. I don't know. Bloody hell. One disorder might have been gone only to be replaced by another disorder.
I'm gonna wait for me to actually shred all these pounds and if I'm at my ultimate goal weight and still unhappy, then I'm finally going to look for help.
getting thin is hard. it's hard to stand when you feel light-headed every time. i wish i didn't wish i was thin

unlurking to ask (the OH server is a mess)
What are your favorite OT12 Loona twitter accounts? I want to follow some so that I can remain updated to the girls in case OH is down again. Thanks

Please someone help me: Why did Sakura have to leave AKB? I understand she's an HKT member originally but why does she have to leave AKB?
-
I don't know if this is asked before but:
considering it's weekend and Koreans typically look up new music on Monday instead of Friday and BTS performing on BBMAs which will be early morning, Monday in Korea, do you think after the show's hype, we can get more listeners to Fake Love in Korea? We're already getting CAKs which is a great achievement but I'm curious.

For the first time ever, Tear was the only album that made me like every song right away after listening and reading the lyrics. Unlike their past comebacks when I always had a favorite song, it feels like for Tear, I won't have one. Wow. Every single song is a masterpiece. I am beyond proud
All hail to the queen.

it's how it is in the 48G fandom since everything is a competition, Sakura only started to get hate when she started to get a push in AKB. but it's a push that she deserved. She ranked on her first election and keep rising from there, she eventually ranked #11 in 2014 and that's when they started to push her, she earned it. but lots of people hate it because she got a sudden push in AKB even though she wasn't pushed in HKT (her own group) but tbh they never pushed her in HKT anyway. so she got a push in AKB as center and a kennin (she became part of a team in AKB) so the fact that she got opportunities and rise in popularity even more is the reason a lot of fans of other members hate her and always try to ruin her image :/ I'll explain under spoiler.
About the running skills, actually Sakura is bad at sport since her debut in HKT so it's true LOL maybe she overdid it sometimes for variety, but overall it's not fake, she is really bad at sports. I also think it makes sense when she said that she manage to run well for the Pv because she focused on how she looks like, but when she focus on running fast like in the running competition, it's a mess LOL anyway most members have a variety persona so it's nothing bad. you need to stand out in some way when you're in a group with hundred of girls LOL and she is bad at sports.
The fatshaming one is the one that is used the most against her but again this was not even an issue. She did mess up because people misunderstood her but all she said is that it looks like the outfits will burst (because Meru was wearing a lot of outfits on top of each other). she then panicked and removed it and pretended to be hacked and tbh it was funny because she really flopped LOL. This happened long ago btw.
and for the gravure, it's honestly hypocrite to bash her for it when literally every member in 48G does gravure. it's true that Sakura did a lot in the past but so did most of the members LOL and actually in the past 2 years, she barely does any photoshoot and much less for gravure. but anyway it's just a job like any other one for 48G members and they all do it, so it's really nothing wrong, even if she does gravure now it's ok. all members do.
There are more things that Sakura gets hated for, but I can assure you it's pretty much always a reach, mistranslations (often done on purpose by antis) etc. I'm not saying she is perfect, and people can dislike her if they want. but she doesn't have any big/real scandal. She's just a member that people hate because she "stole" opportunities from their favs LOL or because they think that she's fake or not good enough but that's only their personal opinions.
and I saw a post on OH yesterday saying that Sakura dated with an old producer and I was like "???" I mean this is how fast lies/misinformations spread. She did go out with a producer but it was Aki-P LOL! the creator of 48G. and he goes out with members all the time. They went out to watch a play, it was long ago and she was underraged too but antis made disgusting claims about her like talking about how she is favored because of that. everyone knows that they just went out normally the same way that Aki-P goes out with other members all the time. Sakura has 0 dating scandal.
People are trying to spread all kind of things. if you guys see any more of these rumors or attacks, you can just ask me and I'll explain it to you. all I can say for sure is that Sakura has no "real" scandal and she didn't do anything really bad to actually deserve hate. The hate she gets is just the result of rivalry between idols.
thank you for your reply! I really appreciate it because it made her more endearing for me. I also saw a compilation in youtube about her gradual rise during every election and tbh it made me teary-eyed.
Go Sakura, go!

Hello everyone!!!
I'd like to ask something (especially those that has followed AKB48/HKT48 for long). As seen in the other thread, many people are saying that Sakura does not deserve the center which for me is a blatant lie because the evaluation vids haven't been posted yet. Heck, we ep1 is still even a month away. So I was shocked by the salt and the lowkey downgrading therefore I'd like to ask: Did Sakura commit other questionable things?
I've heard about the Fake running incident, the supposedly fatshaming, and her taking a lot of gravure shots to supposedly gain fame. Is there anything else I'm missing or are people just plain salty? Or is it because of rivalry?

I'd admit I never looked into the ~48 idol concept of Japan and I just did a crash course on them bec of produce48 and I was charmed by Sakura, I'm surprised by the salt in this thread.
can someone link me to any Sakura thread instead?

dang GFriend's new song was recommended to me in Youtube and look at Eumji. She's a visual material now

can someone glow up with just weight loss or ps is the only way?

The ARMYs in my twitter (and a few of the big accounts) are making moves to spread the comeback goals/news/ways to the ARMYs in FB and Insta. Even if some are being catfishes there (they pretend to be Korean ARMYs) I really like this kind of movement because it spreads awareness on more platforms.
I'M EXCITED FOR THE TRACKLIST!!!

There's so many winking girls

What do I do? I was just planning to be a casual fan cause last season almost broke me (I'm still salty Sewoon didn't get the top11) but after watching the first ep, I decided to STANNNNNN.
Confession: I really thought I'd prefer the Korean trainees more than Japanese ones but Sakura has caught me straight to the heart. I now understand why Jihoon trended last season. SAKURA IS BLESSED

The Unpopular Opinions Thread (Read OP)

I don't understand why International Kpop fans say they're supporting a group for their girl crush concepts and women empowerment songs when the only girl crush about these girl groups are their outfits. If you want to stan a girl group that fits your preaching for women empowerment, stan groups like Mamamoo then. Not those so-called girl crush who shouts for oppa's love and aegyos all of the time.
I don't understand.
