We're still pulling 1.6M views daily in YT. A month in. I think nobody is more surprised than us Army lol. Looking back, we've done so well in all aspects, be it digitally, physically, foreign charts, YT... I knew our fandom grew a lot this year but I'm still amazed at how much. 1M Hanteo incoming lol.

I'm happy we're consistently breaking our own records every comeback and the pace of the views reaching to a million is incredible

I came from Jpop so can provide some insight.

 

Truly think the standard would be the sales off Johnny's and LDH boygroups. It is quite obvious BTS is on top Hallyu-wise in Japan along wwith 2-3 other acts right now but you would know they're doing well in their own context of you pit their physical sales against Johnny's groups (Arashi and those who debuted after them) and LDH groups.

 

Japan has a very heavy physical single market - it isn't a chart frequented by BTS simply because they mostly release physical albums, not physical singles (the Oricon singles chart is pretty much the Hot 100 of Japan in terms of prestige imho). My Japanese friends still hold this more important as a chart, not Billboard Japan.

That billboard podcast was fascinating. And it makes me appreciate JJontheAir and his daughter even more for actually giving the track regular play. I hope others make an effort.

 

It is fascinating to see just how interested billboard in general is with BTS success.

 

I loved his story about seeing people in his actually listenership record the song on the radio and get excited. And how broad the demo is.

 

Because I did the same! I'm a grown ass adult, and the ONE time they play DNA on hot995 in D.C., I recorded it in my car lol.
