And how about Youngjoo with a fringe as we say in England (or bangs everywhere else!). For those who might not know, she debuted with The SeeYa in 2012 (a ballad group). She's so pretty!

I agree, that's not the best photo I've seen on Youngjoo. In fact, it kind of doesn't look like her. I've just spent five minutes looking at pictures of Youngjoo! Check this out: https://twitter.com/rgparchive/status/904520322577305602

I think I always knew they were real sisters as well. I can't remember why I knew that though! I know it's slightly off topic, but here is a fave clip of my mine from Idolmaster.KR with Joungjoo. She's super cute here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVwh3Z0L2Ws

There are some interesting comments on Soompi at Yang Hyun Suk’s Harsh Remarks To “MIXNINE†Contestant Draw Heavy Viewer Criticism. Seems that life is imitating art with Sori. Once again, it shows what an well written show Idolmaster.KR was and how amazing Sori was in portraying the whole age thing in Kpop. A bit like Irene from Red Velvet being constantly called "Grandma" on Weekly Idol a while back.

I think Yukika was the only Japanese girl on that MixNine showcase. I've always wondered about the Japanese angle in Kpop and what it means. I mean, for a Korean TV audience is Yukika's name being read out quite unusual/curious or is no one that bothered. It's interesting that Twice has three Japanese members, but I can't think of another band that has even one. I must have got that wrong though - can anyone think of other Japanese Kpop idols?

This show is continuing with its great start. It's developing nicely. I don't really know Miss A music and I've not seen Suzy in a Kdrama before, so I'm seeing her very much for the first time. I think she's doing a really good job.

Episode 24 Well, we've come to the end of the series. The [email protected] has been an excellent show and I've really enjoyed it. It's been quite a while since I've really looked forward to watching a TV show every week. (I was in such a good mood at work last Friday just because I couldn't wait to get home to watch the ending.) Apart from a few clanging storylines (e.g. Joungjoo's dog on the beach that time - where did it come from?), overall the whole thing has been very absorbing and quite provocative at times. We've had it all: bereavement (Suji), bulimia (Taeri), bullying (Youngjoo), betrayal (Jeewon), poverty (Jiseul), family pressure (Mint and Haseo), disenchantment (Sori), stalking (Yukika), insecurity (Yeeun) and loneliness (Jane). Yet with all of that there has always been such a tone of redemption, forgiveness and "holding on to the dream". The show is essentially is about second chances. I just want to mention performances of two of the girls. Although everyone did well (special mention to Youngjoo, Jiseul and Sung Hoon as Producer-nim), but for me two of them stand out. Firstly, Taeri. Although she was only in the first half of the season, she was totally believable as someone essentially out of their depth. My heart still breaks thinking of her stuffing her face in front of that fridge. Or the time she had to stand on those scales with everyone judging her. Or the desperate pleading for someone to help her after she's been sick in that alleyway. Taeri's acting was so consistent and deep throughout all of her scenes. I think her character is very realistic. Well done Taeri. Secondly, Suji. My profile picture no doubt shows my bias, but Suji has been truly awesome throughout the show. The writer and director asked a lot from her and she always delivered. Think of all the scenes she's been in, more than anyone else. She captured a real sensitivity about her character. In fact, during the last few episodes as her character actually become quite subdued, Suji handled it so well. She might not be a very showy actress, but I just believe her. I really hope Suji the person goes on to be a big success. She's only 19. The Ark might not have worked out, but that was two years ago! I'll be rooting for her all the way. Well done and thank you to everyone who worked on The [email protected]. Fighting!

I think someone mentioned in this forum a while back that a second series could be about boy idols. Although that’s not strictly in The Idolmaster tradition, it’s quite a cool idea. As Kpop is generally so separate between girls and boys, it would interesting to see what issues affect boys. If there was going to be a second season soon, I think it would have already been announced. Still, we can hope that maybe there’s a surprise in store on that front. By the way, I once thought the last episode might be them debuting as characters that very week on Inkigayo in a sort-of simulcast, like immediately following it or something. And singing “I Must Goâ€. Imagine that! I feel dizzy thinking about it.

Totally agree with you. Your analysis on the subtlety of the show is really interesting. I’ve often found myself having to really think about the meaning of some of the scenes, in a good way, and always down to the slight ambiguity of what’s happened, especially with PD. By the way, I’m so envious of you that you’re on episode 9 - so much good stuff still to come your way!

This new drama is superb! I've been totally engrossed by it straightaway. It's got a really clever take on the classic "what might have been" storytelling. I'm quite new to K-Dramas, so I've not seen Suzy in anything before - she's excellent, really good. Lee Jung Suk is great as well. I hope this show continues with its very promising start. (I'm watching it on Viki where it appears as single episodes of one hour each. I've only just realised that after reading this thread! That would explain a few things when I was watching it.)

The song title "Not End, But And" is quite an unusual use of English. I was curious about it and after some searching the only reference I can find for it relates to Super Junior. Maybe a concert they had or something like that? (I don't know much about Super Junior.) I suppose what they are trying to say is that "don't consider this an ending, there's more to come". Here in England we might sometimes actual use a bit of French with the phrase: "This is not a goodbye, more of an au revoir". That's because "au revoir" literally means "until we meet again". And being in French it gives the speaker a bit of a tingling sensation as it has poetic overtones. To be fair, it's probably a bit old fashioned these days.

It's nice to see YoungJoo in a thumbnail. With all the clips I've seen her as herself (I mean rather than her Idolmaster character), she comes across really well. She's quite relaxed and chilled out. I think she's pretty talented actually and I can definitely see her starring in more dramas.

I'm getting more and more sad, excited and anxious about getting towards the end of the series. Only three episodes left. I really don't want it to end, but at the same time I need resolution! One thing I can say is that I didn't know anything about The Idolm@ster world before watching this programme. I'm talking about the actual Idolm@aster game and all that. I've now started watching videos of the live shows. I know that J-pop is quite different to K-pop, but those live shows are amazing. This is slightly off-topic, but if you search for "Ai must go idolm@ster" in YouTube the first two results are the 10th Anniversary Japanese live show from 2015 and our girls singing the Korean version a few months back in Japan. I defy anyone to watch either of those videos without crying a little bit! They're so INTENSE!!

That's great analysis about Suji, Suah and PD. I totally agree with you. This show has sometimes surprised me with its subtlety and subtext. Occasionally I sort-of groan at the forced nature at some of the scenes, but then I find myself thinking about those very scenes a few days later going "Wait a minute, that's actually real human behaviour". In my day job I find myself often relating to Youngjoo's circumstances a lot. Except I usually keep my mouth shut! She's braver than me.
