I just read an EXTREMELY sexist article on Cosmo's website. This girl, who was part native american, wrote an article on why wearing a native american headdress is bad, describing a time that she wore her grandfather's headress and posted it on facebook, and found out that she was apparently "disrespecting her culture and gender". She says native american headdresses are only worn by men who have earned them (which is sexist btw and shouldn't be a reason why a native american woman shouldn't wear one), and that native american women are sexualized in headresses and they have the highest rate of rape in the united states. First of all, it isn't even cultural appropriation that she wore it cause it was literally her grandfather's headdress, so the only real issue here is that she hasn't "earned" the right to wear it, but that's not even focused on in the article. Second of all, she mentioned she was not sexualizing herself in the headress, just wearing it, so how exactly is this contributing to sexual assault of native american women? Even if she was sexualizing herself other people raping is not HER fault. She literally says the sentence, "I, a woman, wearing it was enough to do damage". How much more sexist can you get? The girl was just showing something from her family's history. On that point, it is the RAPISTS faults for raping, not women who sexualize themselves, women who don't sexualize themselves, or women who take a damn picture with something from their culture which isn't even sexual at all. I want to say something about it to Cosmo but idk how/if I can.

About the Edawn fansites closing down after the dating news: Two adults should be able to date without being harassed or hated on. However, companies market idols not only as music artists but as a fantasy. The company markets them in a way specifically made for fans to fall in love with them because it = more money. Realistically, the average fan doesn't have much of a chance with an idol but every teenage girl has that fantasy of their idol falling for them, and them dating can ruin that fantasy. It's not so much about the real chance (which was not very high to begin with) being ruined, it's about the fantasy being ruined, which is why some fans lose interest. If they aren't interested in an idol anymore after they are dating, they are not obligated to be, it's not like the idol is their best friend or something. As long as they aren't attacking the idol there is nothing wrong; they aren't "toxic" fans they're just human. Blame the companies in all of this, not the fans for losing interest.
