  1. They talk about her quote from a recent concert talking about how after a live show you're left empty inside, etc.
  2. I didn't like Modern Times that much, I grew to appreciate several of its tracks and I've listened to it quite a bit in the past few years, but I was really disappointed in the direction, to the point I wrote to Kim Eana on social media (not in a raging stan-y way, just my opinions) saying it seemed like her team and label wanted her to be a theater actress more than an artist, that what many of us wanted to hear was _her_ voice, not some random concept album with pastiche 20s aesthetics. She probably didn't care about my words but I'm sure Loen cared about 'Friday' outselling the lead single of Modern Times (I really dig Red Shoes actually, but it was not really about liking or not liking the songs, I wanted them to let IU loose to write her own music and do the stuff she had in her) and consequently let her be a singer songwriter first and foremost and not a concept-based idol.
  3. Well in terms of exposure, attention and image 2017 has definitely been IU's greatest year so far. Her songs have been popular from start to finish. Her performances have got the highest praise. She's toured and effortlessly won in commercial terms. Hyori's BnB is the first TV concept that's really shown the everyday appeal of her personality and given her some space to reflect. Everything she's done has gained her positive media attention. Her speech last night was a real nice statement about her vision going forward. I will say, Palette as an album was a slight disappointment to me. Not enough IU compositions, a few too many traditional, safe k-ballads. Lots of sweet lyrical touches, but not as exciting an album to me. But Palette is one of my songs of the year for sure, and I hope that playful style is something she keeps, and that her ballads will be more like 'Heart', full of character, in the future. But we do see the power of a traditional ballad in a show stopper performance like 'Dear Name' at MMA. Curious about next year, a drama, hopefully one that fits her, hopefully we'll hear some OST or individual single releases from her. The only big 'fuck it' let down is the lack of in-depth interviews, magazine interviews. Let us hear your thoughts more IU!
  4. Mentor Naachan to take the reigns
  5. I have to say 11gatsu is one of the better AKB singles in recent years
  6. Well she always preferred 'traditional' idol songs despite being nontraditional herself, no secret there. She grew up as a fan of this stuff. I think the group being traditional aesthetically makes it more interesting that it's not as traditional in BTS stuff (like different approach to members love life etc.)
  7. Liking it, always hoping she'll lean harder on the folk aspect of her sound for her 'own' songs too.
  8. Major debut on September 6th
  9. Well she always did love the German philosophers..
  10. If you don't like the love ban you're not allowed to say 'but members should respect it once they're joined'. If it's ever going to change someone has to rebel, oppose it, from within. There's a reason some new j idol groups popping up now don't have the rule - it's because it's increasingly seen as a denigrating mask the girls have to wear, and because it's unnatural and restricting they date in secret. Most of them, is my guess, with varying degree of carefulness. And so we regularly see someone caught. Making a big number of it was a great way to go out for Riripon, fuck it, I've dated this guy and now I'm getting married. The more we get of this, the less sense the rule will make to the bosses.
  11. Yes Riripon, she said as a draftee she would be dangerous and she delivered.
  12. Sasshi's idol group =LOVE
  13. Only one and a half song composed by IU, what a big step back from Chat-Shire. What has she been spending all this time on.
  14. Yeah it will be fun to watch this album unfold. No doubt the 'title track' will be a bit more off-beat. We may see the pre-release tracks outselling it. Regardless I'm so so happy several tracks get to share the spotlight (..but I will no doubt find an album track that will be underrated). The song is beautiful. Haven't had too much time to study the lyrics yet but as usual there's the IU twist of tying simple words together in an unusual and surprising way. 사랑한다는 ë§ì´ì—ìš” - what's being said between the lines
  15. Only lyrics by IU..sliiightly disappointed. Song might be great still obviously.. I just don't see the need to hire others when she does it so well on her own.
  16. Finally. New album. I've decided to not try to predict what sounds or styles she's going for this time. As long as it's good I'm good.
  17. The workload does seem too much. She'll probably do even less stage appearances from now on though. Not a performing member, just a producing member. She was offered a (kennin) manager position only, but demanded she had to be a member as well to feel how the members feel. But don't expect her to join them on stage or promotion much.
  18. I think they'll just be regular girls who'll do some voice acting on the side
  19. Lol she says the love ban rule won't be enforced for her group.
  20. Sasshi's producing a seiyuu idol group! Not AKB group / management. Role equivalent to Aki-P. Release summer. "I want to challenge aki-p". Please audition https://www.yoani.co.jp/sashihara-rino-audition/
  21. Meanwhile Babymetal get invited but go "meh, no thanks"
  22. It was an intimate super expensive "dinner show" kind of thing. None of the songs she did were 48 group songs.
  23. Most? No. She's no 1 on Nikkei's female idol list power ranking for a reason: Mainstream exposure beyond any of the other members. Doesn't mean she necessarily wins this vote though, we'll see who's most motivated.
