I just found this Gyuri gif and I'm cracking up.

Anyways, if this thread was pretty messy today, I'm expecting things to get so much worse in a few more hours (and I don't even want to imagine what's going to happen when the final episode comes).
Gyuri was laughing because of Noe's entrance during elims :') They were such great friends, I was so sad to see Noe eliminated - and MNet brushed over it like it was nothing, for some reason

That is incorrect. Japan made reparations and that's how normal relations was established, and Japan understandably considered things settled at that point. If South Koreans have a problem with the extent of the settlements they should blame their own government for what they jointly negotiated. But South Korea is not operating in good faith when they continuously bring up shit with Japan whenever they want to whip up the populace and distract them from some internal issues. Which, given that SK had a literal dictator and later elected that dictator's daughter to office and she was so corrupt she actually got ousted it's pretty obvious what's going on.
If you apologize for something you did wrong and do things the other person asks for to make it up to them, and the other person says they accept it, but later keeps claiming you didn't apologize or do anything, eventually you're probably going to feel you shouldn't have to keep apologizing, especially when this was all 70 years ago and even the oldest Japanese today were at most probably some random soldiers.
I see what you're saying, but this article (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-tolbert/japans-apology-to-south-k_b_9111566.html) [not that the Huffington Post is a particularly reliable source, but it's what I could find quickly] has more insight on the situation. + tl;dr They only apologized for the military's involvement, not the government's involvement (and Japan's involvement) in the "comfort stations" system/network so naturally, it's not a very CLEAR apology or one that covers all/most of the bases. and well, even though this is between SK/Japan, they don't mention the comfort women in China/the Philippines/etc., so it doesn't seem like very... genuine overall

I understand what you're saying and I don't think any of this should be dragged into an entertainment show, but there's still a lot of distrust between Korea and Japan, given that the Japanese government hasn't really apologized or done anything after they basically invaded and massacred large parts of Korea and other countries. It's not "stupid" to still distrust Japan for those reasons, and it's understandable that Koreans are wary of any Japan-Korea interactions, even if it's not really a political thing. There's been a lot of controversy over PD48 for many reasons (and this is one of them) and there'll be controversy over the final group for the same reasons, and roping the Korea-Japan tension into PD48 is really teetering the line between irrational and... justified, in a way.

...except there is nothing fradulent about giving someone screen time. So unless mnet is forcing people to like and vote for wonyoung by bribes or threats or something what exactly is being rigged sis ?But it seems like you just wont accept that Wonyoung is just popular so ur right, lets stop here
what an intellectual

the comments on kaeun's naver fancam are so... awful. idrc who's writing them or what motive they have but it's literally 100,000 comments to 300,000 views and nearly all of the top comments are degrading and horrible. i get that it's some kind of sick "project" but still, i hope she never ever sees them

My Top 12 so far:

our top twelve (except for like the order) is so similar how
-
late to the party but yoo minyoung snatched during that heize performance, what a queen. she shot up my (unrealistic) top twelve at the speed of light
-
tbh i love the current top 4 (maybe not the exact order they're in but just... the top 4) and ik mnet has tricked me again but i'm just so attached to them now

But random k-trainees from various companies who only have their intro vids and maybe some past appearances on competition shows years ago don't have much popularity before the show starts airing... and anyway their fans' dedication probably doesn't compare to that of preexisting 48G fans who have been stanning various members, maybe multiple contestants, for years already.
As a side thought, it's probably hard for a live audience to precisely discern between good vs. great dance performances... they're far away, they don't have replay, they may not be looking at all members at a time, they don't have replay, they're also busy cheering and chanting, they don't have replay....
All your points make sense, considering I don't really know the timeline of the show. I just thought that since––for example––Chaeyeon was on Sixteen, she would at least have some sort of fanbase there at the performance. She was pretty visible anyway because she did a lot of the major parts of the choreography and the high note at the end, and I know that she was eliminated in the first round unlike Somi and others. + I thought things would be different with Alex Christine and others, but I know that they're not well known to Koreans so i should have expected that things would go differently

I'm late to the party but here are just some thoughts––
my heart broke for choyeon and it totally wasn't her fault, I just felt so horrible when her team sort of unanimously turned against her thinking it was all for the best. i'm honestly not sure why only sakura broke the 100+ mark on her team, I thought most of her team would get 50-70 votes at least just because of popularity; i thought everyone performed the song well but there was just something (?) i can't put my finger on missing
also: I've been a hardcore wonyoung stan from the beginning but honestly, she kind of killed it in that VVV performance. and so did hitomi and yena, they just shined on stage in totally different ways and I kept getting hyper-excited whenever they popped up on screen. you could tell the girls on their team were confident and HAPPY on stage, and that made all the difference in terms of aura
high tension! miyu! girin-chan! the outfits! I'm a fan of AOA (Short Hair, Like A Cat) so I was expecting a lot but they just naturally killed it (leader Sian rise) and Peek-a-Boo team two slayed me, I seriously love them but no one can top legend Nako with her Yuju pigtails
looking forward to the position evaluation (and some of the main vocal-material trainees to finally come through) but not looking forward to the elimination (so many talented girls crying, it'll break my heart just like the other seasons)
edited: there was this girl in the first mamma mia team and she's a great dancer and i'm head over heels for her her eyes are so beautifullllll
-
I'm kinda annoyed that Hyewon and Chowon got such low scores while they had to lead a team that looked dead.
But at the same time I understand the public that voted did not see that at that time.
I hope they rise tho in the next ranking
that's exactly what I thought, I assumed they would get more votes than some of the Japanese trainees who got a lot but apparently that wasn't the case :/ they really did work hard though I'm proud of them

There is something so likeable about ahn yujin
I think so too? she caught my eye in episode three because she was just so adorkable in a good way, she kind of reminds me of a shorter tomboyish doyeon

I'm so exited for tonight's episode. I hope Miyu and Nanami gets more screen time than usual.

Just wanted to say that Kwon Eunbi is probably the nicest person. Former members of Ye-A, a group that only had one song, are showing their support for her.
https://instagram.com/p/BkPj47SlSQq/
One of the members of BTL, who was under the same label as Ye-A, is also supporting her
https://instagram.com/p/BkAoNWQD5Mi/
Even her old boss from her part-time job is supporting her
https://twitter.com/leadereunbi/status/1014743634183274496?s=07

the last picture with her old boss made me smile because I used to work part time at a Paris Baguette, aww

I don't know why Hyunjoo is called Miss Giggles all the time when in the special, she admitted that she never noticed how much she laughs and that she saw herself as more chic/aloof. I feel like some people always assumed that she giggled/laughed to "dumb herself down" or because she didn't have anything interesting to say, but I don't think that's true, and I don't think it's fair that they're trying to like degrade her in a way. When I want to impress someone or when I'm feeling uncomfortable/flustered (there's a lot of different situations) I always laugh/smile or my voice becomes really high-pitched, so I think it's the same for her

All that fuss and in the end they broke up. oh well.
to be completely fair, hyunjoo said that they were taking a break because they couldn't go on dates without being followed (and presumably harassed) and i think that would have taken a toll on hyunwoo especially. and you should watch the special if you didn't already, it was very sweet and NOT mostly hyunjoo/dogyun, it really was an OT8 (OT7?) kind of deal. like there were a lot of friendshippy moments with jangmi/dogyun/gyubin, youngjoo/jaeho, hyunjoo/jaeho, daeun/jangmi, stuff that we didn't get to see in the show

Heard about all the spoilers & results from the twitter hashtag (who I've actually liked a little bit better lately, with the dramatics and all, than the slightly mean-spirited thread we've come to have) and I'm a bit glad it's over, and, of course, won't be watching further. Time will tell if I'll have any sort of interest in S3, but I'd be pretty stupid to ship a couple on this show again.
Nevertheless, I sincerely hope all of the house's residents are happy, not only with their final decisions, but personal lives in general. If I'm being honest, part of me does think Hyunwoo became almost worse than Jangchun levels of asshole. But I shouldn't judge him for a decision he made for his own life, it's just that leading on someone that clearly liked him so much was a bit sad and unnecessary.
Youngjoo. I saw someone say that they're sure she'll find her knight around the corner, and it made me tear up. You deserve a man that will love you just as much as you do him, you deserve happiness, you deserve the joy of being secure with your future boyfriend/husband, and only experience the best of what that relationship will bring. I also commend her for having acted with such composure & kindness, although she has shown fault throughout the show's run, her character has stood strongest & brightest, and she should be proud.
Please walk a flower path in the future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jangmi & Jaeho, both of you are such lovely people and I sincerely hope you also find exactly who and what you're looking for. Jangmi unnie needs a boyfriend with a voice that makes her feel safe & inspired, and Jaeho oppa~ needs a girlfriend that balances him completely. Please have great times ahead!
Now that I think about it, maybe the commentators really did try to ~warn us by pointing out something that very few saw was there. I enjoyed Dr. Jaewoong, Kim Eana, One & Jongshin. I'm not sure the show's bias is as much their fault as it is production's. Thank you for your insight!
I don't know if this'll be my last post or not (probably not, I'll maybe get an urge to read back comments but who knows lmao) but I enjoyed being part of this thread and reading all of your viewpoints and commentary!!! I really hope maybe we'll see each other in another thread sometime, if possible. If I could recommend something to ease the pain: the World Cup's started & it's so fun so far. Give it a try!

aww, I'll miss your comments––they were always so gracious, and you were always so level-headed and fair to all of the inhabitants of Signal House
I was just a silent observer most of the time, but I noticed how polite and kind you were. I hope you come back for S3 (I'm wondering whether or not to even watch S3 myself?) but even if you don't, I hope YOU walk a flower path in the future as well! -
Finally watched English Subs and I've changed my mind about the episode. Warning, this is long. haha
HW & HJ's date is awkward, BUT, I feel it's a different kind of awkward than I thought when I didn't know what they were saying. It's more of a what's going on type of awkward. They were both surprised they ended up together again. When she got in the car, she had a tangerine. But the next scene we saw, she was eating something else. So I really wish they had shown what they first talked about and not edited. Their car ride was 2 hours long each way, at least.
HW: It's been a while...
HJ: On the first date we talked a lot all day ...
HW: I think we went too far that day...
Then they proceed to keep glancing at each other while driving thru the tunnel.
Why? I mean, it's not like he was engaged to anyone. It was the very beginning of the show. Could it be because he really thought he should end up with YJ since he said seen her before had decided it must be fate? Sounds to me like he was trying to control his feelings.
Next scene -
HW: Wait we're here? We're already here.
Considering it was a 2 hour car drive... haha I am assuming they had a pleasant ride.
In the car again:
HJ: Villages by the sea all look the same
HW: Who you come with is more important. I came with you.
HJ: Are you happy?
HW smiles and scene is cut.
Arriving at the restaurant:
HW: Wait for me. Don't just leave me.
HJ. I had to run.
Again, little phrases that come out of his mouth naturally.
At the restaurant:
HW asks HJ if she needs help tying her apron. They both giggle. SOMEONE, not sure who, says "What's wrong with me?".
Afterwards, I honestly feel like they both feel something when they look at each other and that's why they kept looking away.
HW: A lot of unexpected things keep happening in the house.
HJ changes the subject
HW: I didn't expect to see you today
HJ: At the moment I saw your head ..I was contemplating a lot. But Sokcho was the only choice I had.
HW: Who you go with?
HJ: Yes, that's why I hesitated. It was obvious you know.
HW: By the way..
HJ: Let's just not think about that.
My interpretation of this. HJ really didn't want to go on this date with HW. She knew he was determined to pursue YJ. Maybe she was worried in the beginning of the date that HW might think she manipulated the vote to go on the date with him, and that's why she chose to explain/clarify that she had no choice. I'm not sure what HW was about to say before she said hey, let's just let it go. This date will be especially appealing to HW because there is no drama. It's easy, HJ doesn't expect anything of him.
Next scene outside:
HW: We should have gone to the end. (Pointing to the other side of boardwalk)
HJ: Too bad, let's come back later.
I take this to mean he wanted to prolong their walk. When you don't want to be with someone you make it as short as possible.
******skipping YJ and GB date********
******DG and JM date, I felt she was inlove, he was basically acting like a tour guide. I think he sent her a text as a courtesy, especially since she got sick worrying about how the date would go.***********
Back to HW and HJ.
HW: Even the traffic lights aren't on our side
HJ: We're not going home after riding the cable car, are we?
HW: We will ride it and go to Seoul with it. You don't want to go? What's wrong. Do you want to go home now?
HJ: No, I don't, that's what I meant.
HW: You could say you don't want to go home so fast.
HJ: That's why I said, we're not going home are we?
HW: I thought you want to go home fast.
This is pretty clear...they both want the date to continue. He even got worried she wanted to go back home. But even this "misunderstanding" didn't turn into a big thing like it would have with YJ. They cleared it up in like half a second.
I'm not even going to discuss them running with HW pulling her sleeve. But I think it didn't leave them indifferent.
In the car:
HW: What was your most unforgettable memory?
HJ: Just now.
HW: Just now?
HJ: Yes. From the moment we started to run, until we reached the top of the mountain.
At the restaurant:
HW: What do you think about how things will be when we get home?
HJ: How I think they will be?...nervous laugh with HW staring at her.
HJ: What about you?
HW: Me? Honestly I didn't expect to see you. I'm being honest. It wasn't easy while putting two names on my ticket...I was actually thinking YJ would come to the place. And I wanted to be nice to her. Then I went to sleep and I woke up and... If you're destined to meet with the person, you will end up with that person.
HJ: Ok...shall we go see the night view?
HW: Did I give you a vague answer again?
HJ: No, it was a great answer.
HW: really? I don't even know what I said.
OK. So I see where some people thought he meant he would end up with YJ. But nope, I think he's talking about HJ. And I think just the fact he can easily have a conversation with her like this without hurt feelings or drama, is another proof they really are well suited for each other. Also, you can tell he is worried about what is waiting for them back home. He is worried he enjoyed himself and now he has to "face the music". He also seems worried that HJ might have misunderstood his answer, since he is used to YJ misunderstanding. Hence why he asked if he gave a vague answer. He must be really surprised when HJ said no, that the answer was a great one.
Then we have a whole 2 hour car ride conversation missing.
Back at home... you all know what happened. But I think it only helped reinforce to HW that YJ is not the one. In the preview for next week it looks like they're talking things out, but I think they're actually saying goodbye to each other. Like, this isn't going to work type of talk.
Voila. If you read the whole thing, congratulations, you will get a cookie. lol
My prediction: HW and HJ end up together.
I'm a pretty lowkey YJ/HW shipper, but I still think I'm only attached to them because I get attached to things super easily. I'm not completely sold on YJ/HW yet as a couple (even though I adore both of them separately) and I'm keeping my mind open but I was looking for posts on here that discussed HJ/HW because something about their date felt right for me. They seemed natural and comfortable with each other, and HW opened up pretty easily to HJ (not sure if that's a romantic thing, or just a 'I'm-comfortable-with-you' kind of thing, because HJ is definitely the person in the relationship who tries to make the other person comfortable, at all costs.) From personal experience, I don't think it's great to take things too fast at the beginning––maybe HW-YJ are just too in love with each other, because they're part of this whirlwind rollercoaster romance that's perfect for TV ratings, but maybe not so perfect for real life. I feel like HW-HJ understand each other very well, even if it's just in a platonic way, and I actually have a lot of things I want to say about them, but I can't find the right ways to express it. Also: are you Korean? Your translation was perfect.
-
Rather than saying YJ lacks understanding and sympathy which she doesn't as you can tell by her relationship with everyone in the house - she is literally the go-to for advice for most of the persons in the house LOL. Their dating styles are just completely different imo and there is nothing wrong with that.. this is something that could work in real life but under the constrictions and rules of the signal house it just pushes them away - in the real world you don't have to see the person you're interested go out on dates with other people and wonder if he's into you or not etc etc. There is like no chance of anyone ever dating while on HS, everything would have to happen after the show ends anyways - they are basically gonna have to start afresh. Heart Signal is only good for making the connection and introduction and that's it.
There is this other Korean dating program that I watch called Romance Package and their concept allows people to actually say hey i like you and that show has already made 3 couples lmao. Also that show only has the persons together for a week. Heart Signal's concept is not actually good for forming a relationship.
I watched the pilot season of Romance Package (with Han Hyejin––I'm still so upset she had to leave and I miss her so so much) but now I'm catching up on the latest episodes and I don't like it nearly as much as Heart Signal, it's much more anticlimatic (which is the point, I know, because it's mostly speed dating) and I feel like deeper connections are formed in Heart Signal S1 and S2. I agree that the constrictions and rules are getting in the way of YJ/HW, but I'm not sure that they would do better in a Romance Package-like setting because you get to know the other person for only a week (?) and it's mostly just very staged, forced activities and events anyway. So I'm glad that they're on Heart Signal and not on some other show.

I don't have too much to add, but since this is the second-to-last episode––
I liked Daeun and Jaeho's date, they're very sweet together and I wish they would have shown us more. They never give us any Daeun/Jaeho screentime, and even separately, Daeun OR Jaeho don't get very much unless they're tagging along with another couple. It's just annoying at this point. I'm not the biggest fan of Dogyun-Jangmi (I haven't seen too much of them, since Jangmi is new) but I do think they work well together, and my heart broke for Jangmi during the date :( Unrequited love is hard, and I wish them the both truly––I liked the quote Jangmi said about how love is like sand, squeeze/try to control it and it'll slip from your fingertips. Things really are unpredictable like that.
I'm the odd one out here, for sure, but I've never been the biggest fan of Hyunwoo?? But his story about his grandmother and his family pressed really warmly into my heart. Something about it felt so bittersweet and nostalgic and genuine, and I kept thinking about it for a while. I feel like there's this strange comfortable understanding between Hyunwoo and Hyunjoo, even if I don't think it's exactly...romantic––I still think that even though there's a lot of complex history between them still, they can make each other open up, so I liked seeing the dynamic between them. Also: Hyunjoo has shown a lot of personal growth throughout the show, but again, I think she's just very bright and gracious, and her happiness is super infectious. Youngjoo & Gyubin were very comfortable with each other, which––I think it reminded me of me & my male best friends, so I really can't see them (at least on Youngjoo's side) as anything more than platonic, but Gyubin's meticulous planning and his thoughtfulness in general made me d'aww a lot. They clearly have a lot in common (choosing the same book for each other) and the conversation was very sweet, but I don't think I can see Hyunwoo-Youngjoo falling apart. If I was in their shoes, I would trust my heart, and I would probably run through all the sweet memories that Hyunwoo-Youngjoo shared together. It just makes sense.
