  1. i remember being so grateful to bb4 for covering untitled on sketchbook
  2. i know: it amazes me how ignorant they were to the truth of the situation. even to this day he still gets associated with the drug even when it got conclusively proven that the amount of marijuana in his body wouldn't even allow charges to be brought against him. it's like driving with 0.005% blood alcohol and people saying that you ought to get a dui.
  3. good thoughts! i really think it's striking to look at the reaction to gd's marijuana scandal in 2011 and the same for top except six years later. maybe it's just wishful thinking but perhaps south korea's views on marijuana have shifted slightly, especially in the younger demographics.
  4. 1. Lies; Bang Bang Bang is a close second. The two songs weren't just phenomenal- they were phenomenons. I pick Lies over Bang Bang Bang because it's held up over an entire decade as a legendary song, while the latter is still a recent song in the discography. 2. I'm going to be honest. YG could've easily disbanded Big Bang after 2011, and all the members (especially G-Dragon and Taeyang) would be legitimate superstars even if they left the group. The fact that they are still committed as five eleven years later is probably testament to the enormous successes they have had as a group and the ironclad YG contracts. I would also give credit to the relatively long solo periods between each group comeback, which allows the members to breathe and grow in their direction and return stronger when they do decide to come back. 3. Big Bang has a lot of strengths. They're legendary stage performers; anyone, even non-fans, can see that Big Bang are better on a stage than most. They are probably the most loved group by the hailed general public ever or at least in a long time, and although their physical sales are overshadowed by their unusual digital prowesses, they do well in both departments. The members are easily distinguishable in all aspects: solo songs, appearance, and voice, but Big Bang is one cohesive unit still. Big Bang is the biggest reason as to why YG acts carry the reputation of being artists and not idols. The quality of their music I would personally argue is a strength, but of course not everyone will agree. Another strength I should mention is a well-tested ability to weather scandal well. It translates into a weakness nonetheless: scandals lead to a "problematic" image among non-fans and make them less able to attract new fans. Big Bang are also not strong vocally aside from Daesung, although they do well to hide their lack of intensive vocal training. Other weaknesses I can think of are their visuals, which certainly aren't as uniformly beautiful as many other groups in the industry today. 4. Military service should be concluded in 2019 or 2020. Big Bang is depending heavily on the individuals' solos during these couple years to keep the group in the public sphere of awareness. I don't think the public will ever let them sink into obscurity, but YG needs to do a good job of promoting them and returning them to variety shows at least a year before a group comeback. It's not a time to sit back on their status and achievements. Moving forward and continuing to work hard is the only way they can push through military service and hopefully not go down the path of Rain, whose solo career was essentially derailed by military service. Honestly, I just want good music. I hope they retain their unique sound as well and remain unafraid to experiment with their music. I know these were long replies, but I had a lot of thoughts.
  5. guys i just wanted to say that i went to nyc to see gd (he was unfuckingbelievable) and then today i'm in chinatown and i walk into a tea shop and good boy is just blasting from the speakers and i had to try so hard not to start dancing while waiting for my tea and then i walked out the shop and then i saw a motte act 3 poster discreetly taped to the door of this dingy shop a block down and i'm so shook right now #impact
  6. it seems like you're not joking. this is my first concert, but over twelve hours standing in line? to any other kiddos who went to ji's other na dates and queued, how did you do this? lord, if i have to i'd get up at 1am but jesus... i guess i'm not wearing heels then.
  7. i'm going to see gd in nyc in one week and two days (lord! save me). i bought the silver vip ticket, and i'm short so i'd like to get a decent position in the pit. when i should start queuing if the starting time is listed @9pm?
  8. nobody talking about this but untitled, 2014 mv has just got itself thirty million views! it gets better with every listen.
  9. do you think yg is pushing back taeyang because july is too packed for proper promotions? one & akmu from yg, zico, g-friend, kard, exo, and some others: there won't be a week he can have to himself. august seems lighter aside from snsd iirc; thoughts? i noticed his next round of concerts is in hyogo and then there's a few weeks break until seoul in late late august, so logically thinking he would tease the songs in concert and then proceed to give us his fucking album for petes sakes.
  10. he needs to sell the vineyard and buy a monastery full of youngbaes and daesungs instead~
  11. i was at work the whole day and looks like i missed out on a lot. just some thoughts on things
  12. looks like he caught himself but jumped because it was too late. hopefully he landed well. (i'm kinda worried about the concerts being so packed together that the rehearsals are like this too. fighting ji!)
  13. vips when gd decides to release the mv for bullshit... (but didn't the making mv film on bigbang yt confirm the existence of bullshit & superstar?)
  14. don't force yourself to like music. i'm glad you're giving bigbang a chance (i love them to death! songs, lyrics and everything) but listen to whatever the hell you want. even if you admire how hard gd and bigbang work on their music, music is to be enjoyed for the sake of enjoyment, not out of obligation. if you enjoy exo songs more than bigbang songs, then naturally you should listen to exo more. don't feel bad or worry about it. (by the way, i'm glad you appreciated sober's lyrics. i love them so much i put a line in my sig.) ok... unrelated unpopular opinion. i really, really love spring day's instrumental in the beginning. it sounds so haunting and fresh and sad and beautiful and hopeful at the same time. but then i get really, really bothered by rapmon's 'bogo sipda' in the first verse... the second 'o' of 'bogo' is positioned so frontward in his mouth it sounds like he has a country accent with that round 'o', and it doesn't help that it gets repeated throughout the entire song (although the other members do fine with it in my opinion). i just can't unhear rm's bogo sipda and it gets on my nerves every time because i think the rest of the song is decent and ugh! it could've been a bop for me.
  15. i wonder if gd & yb casually compete with each other as chanel & fendi reps
  16. hello~ this thread has been a bit inactive the past few days excluding sumi's lovely updates, so... because i'm curious, should we do some kind of general questionnaire? answer if you have some free time 1. when did you first become a jyj fan? 2. why? 3. three favorite jyj songs? 4. favorite album? 5. bias? 6. favorite solo songs? 7. what other artists do you stan aside from jyj, if any? 8. kindly provide a jyj gif. 1. 2017... new fan, treat me kindly~ 2. i checked them out after i read about dbsk, stayed for godly music, and stanned for jyj. 3. backseat, letting go, & empty. but special shoutouts to i.d.s. and in heaven too 4. just us. what holy perfection that album is 5. at first it was jaejoong, but then i watched more jyj variety... now i'm confused. 6. rock the world for turning up and mine for depressed turning up... but i'm still exploring jyj solos 7. i love bigbang. but also shinee, brown-eyed girls, exo, hyuna, and winner! so?
  17. idk why i did this but i hope this makes someone a little happier today
  18. now that i think about it, bigbang has been in the media quite a lot lately... for great journalistic reasons: 1. jiyong: chanel bag, chin 2. top: wearing a basic black suit and combing his hair so as not to look like a hobo for his hearing 3. taeyang: does activities by himself --> is leaving bigbang! 4. seungri: his car got scratched!!! bets on whether and why daesung is gonna join the party? reporters must be on summer vacation as well lmao
  19. lmao xiumin finally looks like the hyung
  20. not a bigbang song but still appropriate. i logged onto the main page and saw 10 months in jail, 2 years on probation as one of the threads and my heart rate still hasn't gone back to normal on a serious note, not everything is set in stone right now. we can only speculate, support, wait for answers, and continue to support.
  21. will he able to carry out the rest of his military service? edit: if k-netz drag him for a "light" punishment,,, second edit: this was posted on 11:11, seconding lisa turtle and wishing for top to live like taeyang/daesung the next two years
