  1. Also! im new here , my name is marcus and i have been watching this show since  a month  ago , my bias is Yeeun and Sujirlytearpls.png chuplz.png ! I love them! Im watching the show via idolmaster vietnam fanpage since they have hd engsubs lolrlytearpls.png rlytearpls.png also im just wondering what happened to taeri , because i cant see her in Dream MV and performance , i see Jeewon too NOW IM CONFUSED , i m currently at ep9warstarplz.png

    welcome!

taeri is not part of the official RGP lineup, which is why she is not in the MV. Jiwon is in the lineup, so she is included.

  2. actually, Yukika is a voice actress not a live actress. She's never done live acting until Idolmaster.kr since her only previous acting experience is voice-acting for anime.

and eh you don't hear about TWICE or NCT's Japanese member(s) talking about their conflicts in Korea so I don't think they'll touch on that on Idolmaster, either. But the general populace seem pretty indifferent about Japanese people and don't care unless they start spewing Japanese nationalist agenda like Dokdo is Takeshima and belongs to Japan. Then the pitchforks come out.

she is an actress as she has acted before, tho not necessarily on screen. yes, she was a voice actress but she seems to have taken a break for now as she hasn't had a role in four years. she has a television credit before idolmaster,kr in a drama called ChocoMimi, she's been in a movie or two, and since 2015 she's been in several stage productions.

ah, that does make sense. i'm still rather new to kdrama culture so i don't exactly know all the views koreans have towards foreigners in society. yeah i don't rlly expect idolmaster to really bring in political-related issues.

Wow. Taeri's arc is getting really intense.

oh no, taeri! warstarplz.png she looks like she's gotten pushed to her limit, poor girl.

  3. really liked this episode...

and i guess i'll join the character reaction bandwagon

    • sori: mama bear sori is the best! really really love her, her relationship with jane is really sweet, and it was great to see her finally standing up to youngjoo. she's also so supportive of her fellow debut team members, though maybe to a fault. i feel like she had been a little passive when it came to dealing with youngjoo's bs. i've been thinking that maybe her passiveness stems from past issues she may have dealt with during her years as a trainee? i hope her backstory comes up soon! and debut team leader sori ftw~
    • youngjoo: actually, i don't really hate her character as much as some may expect. i kinda enjoy seeing her being a b*tch in a crew full of sweet girls. echoing what others have said, i really like her realisticness and how flawed she is. her selfishness is so easily relatable, and it's understandable why she's acting like this. i also like how the show presents both her warm and her cold, selfish sides. it makes her seem really human.
    • yukika: still one of my faves, and easily the cutest character on this show~ tbh i'm kinda surprised of the impact she's had on some people, considering the fact that she has such few lines so far. i'm sure there's more to her story other than being a cute (if slightly odd) girl with only one-liners. i hope the show addresses her foreign-ness; i'm surprised they've said nothing about it yet. since she's japanese, wouldn't she have encountered some conflicts in korea? considering the unpleasant past history regarding japan and SK, there would still some stigmas against japanese people, even if views have considerably improved nowadays. and yukika irl is an actress, i wanna see what her acting abilities can bring!
    • taeri: adore her character. taeri's really charming and her story is super interesting! her story is the one i'm most invested in lol. i want to see how the show tackles issues like eating disorders, and i hope this show won't end it in a happy, solve-it-all way, like many other shows have done (i don't expect idolmaster to treat it this way tho, i know it'll be satisfying). i'll be so disappointed once she leaves, but i suppose that it would be necessary for the sake of her health and confidence.
    • jane: in the last episode, honestly, i was feeling annoyed at her character. i felt she had overreacted to receiving her score. like, both yukika and taeri had recieved low scores before (taeri especially, poor thing) and they didn't have such an outburst like she did. however, after seeing some parts of her story, i can kind of understand why she acted in this way; it's tough to be involved in the entertainment industry at such a young age, especially when missing out normal teenage activities such as hanging out with friends. her behavior can also be understood with her being the youngest; she hasn't experienced as much as the others and is still maturing.
    • suji: i don't rlly care much for her tbh. she's the typical vanilla female lead that almost every single kdrama has. i do like how the show implies her having a self-serving side tho, she's more selfish than she seems. i feel she has too many scenes than necessary; i'd rather see the show expanding the other girls' stories.
    • haseo: super cool! i think the girl crush title suits her more than jiseul lol. she's pretty charismatic and is really funny with her background reactions to the others' antics. there hasn't been enough scenes with her so i can't say much about her. out of the rookie team members, she's the most mysterious one imo because there's been so little about her background. even her official character description doesn't say much about her to form a general assumption! honestly tho, she's just really overshadowed, hope the show presents more of her talent, she has a lot!
    • mint: haha she's so funny. i think she provides most of the comedic humor. she seems the most light-hearted out of the rookie team, even with her eventual backstory being revealed, i still think she will continue to be the least serious character. i'm also wondering why she speaks english and not thai. even if she's supposed to be rich, that doesn't rlly make sense?
    • yeeun: aww yeeun~ definitely one of the best characters. she's the one who you would both expect and not expect to be such a darkhorse lol. so adorkable and charming, it's just really easy to like her. she's the one who i feel is the most pure-hearted and caring of the rookie team members.
    • jiseul: a cool girl with a warm heart. so glad she's starting to get along with the other team members. they're slowly defrosting her lol. she seems to be a very practical person, but she also wants to strive to achieve her own dreams as well. it is interesting to put characters with different motives for becoming an idol, other than the typical shoot-for-your-passions kind of reason.
    • jiwon: i'm interested in seeing how her story turns out. i don't think she's as selfish as we would assume her to be, but i could be wrong. there's just so many ways the show could approach her character. i'm also wondering why she would join the debut team rather than the rookie team; imo it makes more sense for her to join the latter because of her connection to yeeun, tho i suppose that might spark conflict between the two? i'm so curious to how she'll be approached!

edit: oh geez, i wrote a lot lol. prepare yourself for a wall of text

If y'all think youngjoo is bad just wait until Jiwon joins the team. Youngjoo maybe selfish, but her main rival is Suji. She still cares about the rest of her team members, but she sucks at understanding their feelings and the concept of teamwork. Jiwon on the other hand (according to the articles on naver) will apparently be portrayed as the main antagonist, where she will try to pit everyone against eachother in order to obtain the spotlight for herself (it says on her profile "tear them from the inside". Also another thing to note is that she will join the debut team NOT the rookie team so we'll have to see how her story plays out. BTW if I've misinterpreted the articles plz let me know,im still learning korean and tried to summarize however much I could understand.

oohhhhh cant wait to see that! wonder what our all-knowing producer will do about that!

  4. Can someone PM the link for EP 8 please smile.png

    Seconded!

ep 8 thoughts, probably the best ep so far imo

suji running for that bus gave me crazy The Light flashbacks rlytearpls.png

if I had to guess, Kang wanted Su Ah to go solo but she didn't want to abandon her group so she ran out crying and got killed

ohhh that's interesting, I never thought about that before. I surely hope this is the reason or maybe something similar.

  5.

I don't know how much of a spoiler this is but that remark Yukika made about lack of talent lowkey sealed her in as my least favorite. Like she's behind Mint, something I didn't think was even possible with how stereotypical Mint is. That annoyed me so much like ??? She was never trained, it doesn't matter how much talent you have, without proper training, that talent is useless. Ughhh.

Midway through Ep 5 though, so almost caught up. Abroad is fucking with my Amazon, though rolleyes.gif

I'm disappointed how 2-dimensional Yukika's character is in the drama. Like right now her character seems more like one of those typical background characters that don't really add to the story or have any development. Which is a shame since she's my favorite, i really wanted to see her acting abilities outside of just being "cute".

I also don't really like how both her and Mint, the only two non-Koreans, are being portrayed as stereotypical "foreign" characters. That just kind of irks me; it's a lot like in animes where foreign characters are mainly defined by their cluelessness. I wanna know, since i haven't watched much Korean dramas, is this a recurring thing where foreign characters are simply just, you know, foreign?

But since only 5 episodes have been aired so far, I hope that in eventual episodes the show will focus more on the other girls and show their growth. apparently yukika's the worst dancer of the debut team, right? I hope the show can draw on that to expand her character
