  1. Guys, I was looking back at our earlier days in this thread, and all our rants/long essays are so fun to read through haha. I can't believe we discussed so much, and yet now, a lot of what we wanted is being fulfilled. Sarahhhhh! Hello there minja soul sister, long time not talk! Hi there! A warm welcome to the thread I haven't yet, because the cost is quite a lot for me now too - paying off college debts is a pain in the ass I am planning on getting her full album through iTunes though, so if I do participate for this Makestar project, it might be just pure donation without any rewards - there's an option for donating however much you want. So it'll be lesser than $44 but still a support I guess. But as you said, it is a good deal for overseas fans who won't get to get her signature and her merchandises. Especially so for those who are already planning to get the physical album anyway through YesAsia etc.
  2. Minzy on drums y'all I like it like it like it!
  3. Why does Jinkyung sound like a mother nagging her child (Jinyoung) at the end of the video? Jinyoung has so much fun teasing him so kewwwt I cannot!!! XD
  4. Same here. I can already predict what those people are going to say lol. They will probably ignore all the strong contenders in April too to insult her, so that's why I'm hoping for her album to be of solid production so at least they won't be able to hate on her for that. On to the album tracks though... I think I'm looking forward to see how different the Flowsik track and the Jay Park track are tbh. And try to figure out why they chose one over the other as the title track. As far as I remember, MW mentioned about them not being sure yet if the Jay Park track was going to be the title track. The Jay Park featuring news did create a wave of interest too, so I wonder why they went with the Flowsik one which didn't generate as much interest when it was announced. Also looking forward to the self-composed song!
  5. So excited, but so nervous for her too. April is gonna be a bloodbath!!! I hope those knetizens who said they'll support her will really support her in terms of streaming and purchasing her songs lmao. Hoping for good music Minzy
  6. Full mp3 audio of the songs Minzy performed last night! ë³´ê³ ì‹¶ë‹¤ I Miss You - Sohyang & Minzy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGlvbsnyVZ4 ì•„í”„ê³ ì•„í”ˆ ì´ë¦„ A Painful And Painful Name - Minzy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbuIy0khP5c I didn't know Masked Singer releases digitals of their performances. And not every performance gets released too. Both of Minzy's got released as digital versions. So proud! And the harmony between her and Sohyang, damn.... The two of them killed it on their own but when they harmonized together, HEAVEN! I want to hear the two of them singing together again omg. Those who have Melon passes, you can get it from here - although I have no idea how to lol http://www.melon.com/album/detail.htm?albumId=10051180
  7. Ahah! Jinyoung posted a bts video of the girls setting up for today's filming too. You know, Minzy might be the leader by title and you can see it in the ways the girls ask her to check up on their progress or ask her for advice or demo (seen in this video also), but I believe each and every one of them leads the team in their own way too. Like what @Sleeze Sister said, Jinyoung is such a good mood maker for this team and you can see she enjoys doing it, especially through all the BTS videos/photos she post. And then you have the eldest unnie, Sook, really taking on her role well, leading conversations together with Jinkyung, who is also totally helping to make things less serious even if she's trying to be serious xD (I don't think she minds that much being the laughter-inducer for the team actually). One of the captions in the show said they're like the pillars of the team, and I completely agree with that. Then we have Yewon and Chaeyoung who are so immensely hardworking, being actresses who're venturing into a completely new side of the industry. I won't be surprised if their dedication to this project and constant hard work and practice is spurring the others on to make sure their efforts won't go to waste. And Somi, although she has such a huge age gap with the rest, her presence as the maknae who is also hard at work making a name for herself outside the show really adds a good spark for the team. And I love how they all dote on her in more ways than one. She seems to be in an ambiguous position in her career (is she or is she not considered to have debuted already?) but I think having these unnies around will be good for her. Having Minzy and Jinyoung there for her, whom I am pretty sure have tons of advice and encouragement to give regarding a career as a singer, is probably good as well. Minzy, gahd I love this woman so much. As compared to her 2NE1 days, she's really showing her old-time fans and new fans sides of her personality that we rarely or never got to see. I love how these girls are able to bring out this extroverted side of her. For someone who's starting on a whole new beginning in the industry, I am just so grateful to see that she has these girls around. She is totally inexperienced in variety shows despite 7 years in the industry, and it shows. So having the experienced veterans there is certainly helping her to loosen up. There are times, especially in the earlier episodes, where I felt like she was trying to avoid talking about the past (it's still crazy and sad how 2NE1's situation came to be) and hesitant in showing more of herself, but you can see how she's becoming more and more comfortable as the episodes go by. I hope she continues to become even more confident in herself. She is such a reliable person to have around too. This has been mentioned a lot of times by her ex-members before, and seeing the Unnies saying the exact same thing about her makes me so proud of her. I hope she continues to lead the Unnies well and if there's one thing that I hope she helps to bring to this team, is to tell them how to have fun onstage. This girl shines onstage the most because she enjoys it so much and I hope she'll be able to inspire the rest too! Okay I didn't expect to write such a long post lmao, but I really love the dynamics of these girls. Thumbs up to all 7 of them!!
  8. Just watched EP 8 with subs and I am already greedy for the next episode When this whole project wraps up and they finally debut and go onstage, it's gonna be so interesting to see the entire outcome. I am sort of hoping they won't spoil the full song or performance through the show - I want to be surprised hehe. Wondering if it's gonna actually be filming them recording the song, or just them talking about the recording.
  9. I am so so happy! It's all the opportunities we've been wanting her to go for since soo many years ago. Immortal Song next!! I want her back on Running Man again when her solo album comes out, and on Happy Together too when UNNIES' album/song comes out!
  10. That was another good episode!! I can't wait for the subs to come out! I think they'll surprise us too. I love how all of them are willing to learn and are having fun while they do it too. The coaches fit in well with their dynamics as well. I wonder if they'll meet up separately outside the slated filming schedule to practice together.
  11. ^ Do you mean Yenny? That would be so epic. Anyways, guys, isn't it crazy to think that Minzy used to be tone deaf? Watching her singing and hitting the notes on SSD and getting praised and acknowledged, I wonder if she ever feels so superbly accomplished of herself. But then again, she probably feels that she can do even better eh lol. I'm so anticipating to see how much more wide her vocal range can get and seeing her be able to use her vocals much more flexibly. I want to see her develop her lower register too cause isn't that her more natural/comfortable range?
  12. I didn't watch Season 1, but Season 2's cast are so fun to watch! They seem to mesh pretty well and their chemistry seems pretty good too. I've been having so much fun discovering these sides of Han Chaeyoung and Kang Yewon for the first time haha. In the latest episode, it was sooo cute when Chaeyoung and Sook started attacking Yewon's pyjamas gift. Yewon whining (even to the PD as if he's their father!!!) with Jinyoung just laughing and not knowing what to do. It was so much like a bunch of sisters omg I love it.
  13. It's interesting to see the dynamics of those netizens. Mostly 30s & 20s males?
  14. Hehehe yes I need more of her voiceeee Minzy Reportedly Chooses New Agency http://www.soompi.com/2016/05/04/minzy-reportedly-chooses-new-agency/ It appears as though Minzy has found a new agency after leaving 2NE1 and YG Entertainment. According to a report from news outlet Sports Donga, an insider revealed to them that Minzy has decided to sign an exclusive contract with Music Works after having discussions with several different agencies. Music Works is home to singers Baek Ji Young, Yoo Seung Eun, and other artists. The insider said, “The contract hasn’t been signed yet but it seems like [she] has made Music Works [her] decision.†Music Works addressed the reports and commented, “It’s true that we recently met with Minzy to discuss an exclusive contract, but a contract has yet to be officially signed.†Just yesterday Minzy wrote a letter to her fans about her future plans. Do you think Music Works is the right agency for Minzy? ___________ So, anyway guys, Music Works Entertainment... I saw the name before when I was looking up Baek Ji Young, but other than that I know nothing about it. Do any of you do? If she does sign on with them as the media is reporting, it'll be cool if she starts off building her career with OSTs. Then, considering Music Works is an in-house subsidiary with CJ E&M, does that mean there'll be possibility for collabs too? Both of which I've been wanting to see her do for so long omg But then again, she hasn't officially signed on yet so welps, I'm just going to wait and see what happens....
  15. Just wanna say something and share my thoughts because I'm quite appalled at the Blackjacks who are calling Minzy selfish, shading/hating her and her family on self-made assumptions and judgements, and blaming Bom & CL for this too... How are people failing to see the root of this issue? It's so much more than Bom's scandal. While the scandal did lead to the group going on the 2-year hiatus, may I also add that it's the hateful netizens and YG's incompetence at handling the issue that caused the hiatus in the first place? Without such ignorance about what really went down and the mind-boggling hatred, that hiatus wouldn't have happened, nor stretched out for so long. But whatever that is, and whenever that is going to be resolved, I just wanna say that the root of this issue is still so much more than that because we saw how CL & Dara could still continue on in the 2 years. YGE's neglect and empty promises for Minzy started way before the 2-year hiatus for god's sake. Cumulatively over the years, who in the world can stand that kind of treatment, and continue resorting yourself to it when there is a possibility for another path, even if that might be under a smaller company with lesser 100% chance of immediate success? When you get the chance to decide whether you want to resign a contract, who in their right mind will stay with a company that has been putting you on the extreme backburner for years and will probably keep on doing the same thing in the coming future if you had re-signed? A company that keeps on serving more and more empty promises and unconfirmed/ever-changing group comeback plans? A company who doesn't bother to invest in you, nor help you gain at least some bit of recognition, nor support you when you try to put yourself out there, because you're a female and yet expect you to bring in immediate money for solo work, if not they'd immediately shelve you back into the dungeon? It's ridiculous. I'm actually quite proud of Minzy for saying no more of this tbh. The Minzy thread discussed this sort of happening before, and how we'd feel. Now that it had, there was so much mixed feelings at first, but now, just acceptance and respect for her decision. Minzy'd probably have known that leaving YG/2NE1 is truly a huge step considering how big the company is, and that she'd probably not have immediate success with another company too considering how little the general public know about her. But she probably realised that enough was enough too, and made the decision on what would be the best. So yeah, I'm quite proud of her for being brave for herself. I'm sorry this is such a long post. As a fan since the start of their debut, I'm sincerely wishing all the best for all the 4 girls. They deserve and could have been treated so much better than what they have been receiving. But for now, what's happened has happened. I'm moving on now and I'm anticipating what else the four of them are going to be bringing to the table, be it individually or together. I believe it'll still be a fun ride no matter what.
  16. Gong Sisters singing at a relative's wedding https://instagram.com/p/BE46G7hkAXg/ I miss Minzy's voice so much
  17. Agency that is well-known to public, and home to many famous, powerful vocalist singers in the industry. Man, I can't even narrow down the guesses haha. P.S. If this is PR work done by her new agency, I like how it's so clean cut and straight to the point about what is actually going down behind the scenes - her not being officially signed yet, but she has plans to do so once her contract with YGE officially expires.
  18. Aww man I wish there had been a shot of that last one in the magazine itself!! That would have satisfied all who wanted a clear shot of her face at least haha. Anw, oniontaker - the infamous (?) insider - tweeted these out today Click here to view the Tweet Click here to view the Tweet Click here to view the Tweet His tumblr post: “Minzy leaving changes nothing†I don’t know how to react to: “Minzy leaving doesn’t change anything in the long runâ€. I don’t know if it’s that they think I’m dumb enough to not be able to make calculations going into the conversation, or if they really are that dumb. Given how they stay a multi-million dollar company from being good at what they do, it’s probably the former. Damn it, they think I’m dumb. So the logic we’re being told to follow is that 2NE1 only contributed to 2% of revenue in 2015 and pretty much all of that is from royalties in digital sales. Two things we can draw from that: This ignores the fact that they didn’t get to promote all year, and that 2% is royalties simply from stuff they did before. It’s like saying a football player didn’t score a single goal while keeping the guy on the bench all year, so that way of looking at things pisses me off. Estimates from that 2% gives: 2NE1 generating $3.37m in revenue Over $487k in profit $195k after YG takes a cut $48,600 per member in 2015 Notes: Of the $168.5m in revenue, 2NE1 made under $3.37m. Applying the average profit margin for the year, that’s about $487k but with there being very little in the way of costs since they didn’t even promote all year, that’s a very conservartive estimate. So we would say they made at least $487k in profits. 60:40 seems to be the prevailing opinion over YG profit sharing, so we’ll go with what the public believe and we get at least $196k for the group and $48,600 per member. So we’re probably looking at an income level of $50k per member per year. Putting that in perspective: that’s the average income level in America. 2NE1 members made exactly as much as an average Joe in America in 2015 because they didn’t have promotions. And now you turn around and say she doesn’t matter in the long run for the company. Even if you’re not a fan of the group, you can see why Minzy would have been frustrated and seeing their reaction just makes me want to flip tables and do something else to distract me. Remember that time you cancelled the 2NE1 comeback for a measly little single at the end of last year? Maybe you should have gone ahead with it instead of postponing it indefinitely. http://www.oniontaker.com/post/142833877165/minzy-leaving-changes-nothing Hmm... I'm not too sure how exactly to process these, or how to take onion taker's opinion on this, but I'm glad there's someone out there who's at least providing hard numbers to 'challenge' YG's blatant disregard of her importance to the group..
  19. Was looking through FMVs that were made for Minzy. This one was a nice one. Highlights her career in 2NE1 quite touchingly. Gonna miss her in the group so so much <3 Wishing the best for all the girls.
  20. Was looking through FMVs that were made for Minzy. This one was a nice one. Highlights her career in 2NE1 quite touchingly. Gonna miss her in the group so much <3 Sigh, hoping the best for everyone.
  21. Yes to everything you said. It would definitely be very interesting to see her under SM, and that'd be the first time that ever happens too. If she ever goes under there, it'd be so interesting to see what kind of direction they would steer her career in too. But meh, the chances of this happening is idk.. I can't really see this happening. But eh, who knows lol. I'm seeing some of the people bringing up the point that Minzy ultimately left because she was jealous of the other three's solo careers, and I'm here like, DUH?! A lot of factors play into her leaving, and obviously her feelings regarding her lack of solo opportunities would be one of it? The people here in this thread have been talking about this since long time ago, about how Minzy could have felt every time she sees her members getting an opportunity while she gets none. So I'm just like, why are people only just realising what kind of impact it had on Minzy all this while? And also putting it in such a negative way too now that she's left and they themselves are angry? I.. just raise my eyebrows at people who are getting so angry at her for ruining the group, when they were never/rarely there for her before, and then now trying to spread things around about her and her family's "jealousy". If they're calling Minzy and her family petty for their actions, I'd say these fans are ultimately being even more petty with the way they're taking things. If I'm being honest, I'm slightly afraid that this might happen. As much as I hate the way YGE treated her, they know how to put out solid music. Now that she's on her own, hmm, the chances of her having a solid solo single is somewhat on shaky grounds I feel. Personally, I need to know where she goes to get an idea how her solo career's gonna work out. I don't mind if you guys are doing it! I do have a Line ID. Will DM you guys my ID once the chat gets started?
  22. Agree with this. I hardly doubt the girls never knew about her intention to leave? CL & Minzy's birthday wishes to each other was hinting at things already, and I think they already knew by then. Those were such sweet messages of support too. These two have never been the type to openly show their affection (?) for each other except when they suddenly get randomly mushy such as Minzy with her otter-letter and CL at concerts. YG or the media (or both if either are involved with each other) needs to stop their bs and slandering.. Man, as much as I know there are also things to complain about for SM, the fact that they give ALL their idols work no matter how small it is makes me appreciate them so much. It's completely different at YG, that I do not mind her going to SM at all lol. But idk if that'll even play out, it'd be sooo awkward? (But if she does omg imagine all the interactions we get)
