There there. Just let time do its job and soon you'll be able to look at GG's legacy and beautiful memories with fondness rather than sadness and bitterness. Especially when the girls look happy with their choice.
The girls are all looking forward and we should start to do the same.
Edit: posting this too since this has never been more relevant:

thank you it made me feel a little better
also this
just hold it together guys

i dont know what to say.. i only discovered snsd this year and now this is happening i really dont know how to feel
what i felt when i first discovered them is still so fresh:
Posted 17 May 2017 - 04:55 AM
I ONLY DISCOVERED SNSD THIS MONTH WTH WHY HAVE I BEEN SLEEPING FOR SOOOOO LONG!!!!
i literally only have eyes for them
it's also my first time listening to kpop and i cant seem to see any other gg that even compares to them?! not in a competitive way but in a way that each of the members carry their own individual personality's SO WELL. I've been trying to catch up on all their variety shows and sometimes i come across other gg's on the same variety show but they dont seem as much fun/not as united as snsd for some reason.also not to mention that WOW SNSD HAVE SO MANY GOOD SONGS!
I keep going back and forth between what my favourite tracks are but then realising they're all my favourite!! hoot, catch me if you can, gee, girls generation, genie to list but a few.i'm trying to watch everything they've done recently too like sooyoung's style follow, hyoeons 1000m likes, seohyuns home and i dont think i'm ever gonna get any sleep
lol i have so much to watch, i love watching the girls whether they're together or not but i do love it more when they're all together having fun like weekly idol and channel soshi!! heheany day 1 sones have any thing to pass on to a new sone like me?!! like stuff i should know, i want everything to do with SNSD. i know a current project is IGAB 200M which i am 100% streaming every day for at least 3hrs.
basically this has been a word vomit of a post but i just had to share because i love snsd so much and i think others would too when you discover just how incredible snsd's bond is.
Any one else also on this journey at the moment?! ahhh i cant be the only one discovering something amazing thats been around for a while

some people even thought i was a troll lol i guess my love for them was cringey
i want the girls to be happy but i love them together as snsd so much that it makes me sad to think about the future that lies ahead
im gonna go cry noow

I only worry now about which company will be able to give Seohyun good opportunities and good management. She always knows whats best for herself even from debut days. I'm incredibly sad but I trust her so much and it is only my selfishness as a sone that I would want her to stay with sm to be together with SNSD
guys I'm so sad rn

the weirdest thing happened yesterday, I still can't believe it. I met a guy yesterday from Korea and was obviously blabbering on about how much I love girls' generation (lol) and then he told me that he knows Seohyun, that she was in the same class as him in primary school and middle school. I was shocked, I couldnt believe it but he said that they were never in the same crowd. I couldnt really ask him questions about her lol butttt I have his number now so it is crazy for me to think that I am technically only 3 degrees separated from Seohyun!!!

Welp, you went straight on it...
Kind of ironic considering almost everyone here accused me of bringing negativity and "bringing the trolls" yet...here we are...

?
i meant popularity vs legacy, one was saying that the public is over them so they won't be invited to olympics and I was saying their legacy overrides that
that d word will never be uttered from my mouth

-
That unchained into "SNSD should perform" vs "SNSD shouldn't perform" convo.
Hell, neither my posts unleashed this kind of convo...actually, I wasn't even the starter of this #mess.
it actually became a 'snsd is over' vs 'snsd can never be over'

Dude...we are talking about this year!...
Did the commitee on charge of the olympics mentioned SNSD so far?
As far as I know, Taeyang is the embassador of this event and Hyolin will sing the national anthem on the opening ceremony.
Hell, SNSD wasn't even invited to that special Dream Concert for the olympics despite they just had a comeback.
Second, for sure this discussiom is "civil" and base on "grounded" information and not just hanging on a baseless wish of something in a situation that has an unclear ending.
I don't know what you guys were trying with discussing the olympics, but you all just doing is fighting and speculations base on non-exist hints. Neither Oniontaker hinted about SNSD attending the olympics nor the kfandom. All what a
They are focusing about it is the outconw of the contract renewal.
You are the only ones worrying about this olympic thing...
we're not worrying about this olympic thing
just saying it would be nice if they were invited to perform /did perform
-
We saw this with the comeback too, I don't understand why people who discuss their current relevancy always get accused of downplaying their legacy, it has never been about that. "No1" was talking about how the most currently relevant and active groups will be the ones performing at the Olympics, that's not exactly hard to see.
and the other side of the argument is that because of snsd's legacy, its not exactly hard to see that they might be chosen to perform at the olympics

I miss this hair so much, she looks so beautiful
How is it arrogant to say we don't need to care about the "competition"?? We don't. The new gen groups can compete with each other, all of SNSD's competition has disbanded by now. The fact of the matter is that SNSD won't be promoting much as a group from here on out and we've all come to accept that (or need to). We worked hard for their comeback this year and they had great results from what the fandom could do. That's all we can ask at this point. We will all show up again whenever the girls release something else. I refuse to consider a 2 year old group who comes back 3-4 times a year SNSD's competition. If they come back every 2 years we can't even expect them to compete with that. That is undermining them when they are so unbelievably done with that portion of their careers. Even the girls themselves have said they want other girl groups to go on and continue to spread the power of girl groups like they have. They have nothing to prove now and it's ridiculous to act like they need to worry about competing with anyone.
You clearly either don't get what I'm saying, or you are purposefully ignoring it. I'm not saying that SNSD is the only loved group, just that they're on their own level now. There will always be a new trend but no matter who comes and goes SNSD will always be remembered. We can't say the same for 99.9% of the groups out there right now. I am well aware that the Korean public is fickle, but it goes both ways - even the groups doing well now might not be in another 1-2 years. SNSD has managed to be the top girl group/Kpop group and in the public's favor for 10 years. That's incredible in an industry like this. I don't care who the group is, nothing is guaranteed in a quick moving industry like Kpop and frankly it's surprising it's taken this long for someone to come along who can match SNSD in physical sales (and it had to come in the form of a 2 year old group with members 10 years younger than the girls who put out multiple versions every release and come back every 4-6 months).
You might not be intentionally downplaying SNSD, but you are. Clearly I DO need to remind you of what they've achieved because that is the reason they shouldn't need to worry about this bs anymore. I get that you want them around as long as possible. So do I and everyone else here. But we can't keep holding the girls to the standard they were held to in 2009-2013 because that's just not the reality anymore and it's not fair to them. The industry has changed a lot. I would love for them to always hit #1 and who knows, they could still have even more #1s left in them, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not going to slack on them, I'll always support them and do whatever I can to support them. But they are still in this now for the fans and because they enjoy it, and that's it. They deserve to be able to enjoy themselves now and have nothing left to prove to anyone, whether it's to Sones, new gen fans, or even the general public.
i cant believe this argument is still going on.
its pissing me off to see this user go on and on about how other groups, in the snsd thread might i add, are now better than snsd, have surpassed them blah blah when it doesnt even contribute to the point theyre making?!?they say their point is
' their latest comeback left them in slightly woobly feet (and yes, anyone with a brain can blame SM for that, but bussiness is bussiness = cutthroat), and if anything, other companies will take full advantage of that to elevate their own groups. That's the point I'm trying to make.'
which is so stupid because their latest comeback doesnt just automatically erase their entire past career for gods sake.

You stated that those with the most global impact are the obvious choices, going by that, then "logically", it's those who have the highest and current globals stats are the groups I mentioned. SNSD might be able to Tour world wide, but they haven't so that point is moot. You also mentioned not following other grups, so you have no clear idea of their current positions within Kpop atm.
The point I'm making is that Soshi is not the only choice for the Olympics. Given the popularity and trending positions of other groups, and how this has not really been their year as a group diminishes the chances of the girls being invited significantly.
My being able to counter your posts does not make me obtuse, lmao.
I'll happily take back my words if they are invited, I want the girls to keep promoting as a group, but I'm not naive enough to think they'll be part of every major event out there given the circumstances.
neither of us were even on the same page to be making counters lol so i was saying you were being obtuse about other groups.
firstly my point was never that soshi are the only choice and no I didn't say those with most global impact, I said global recognition which dont go hand in hand. secondly, no i said its logical because of how long they have been around and the fact that theyve had more promos abroad. touring point is only 'moot' because you want it to be but its not moot when youre saying the same about other groups? also didnt realise you were some kpop expert, excuse me lol
any ways thanks for clarifying, i think we've both made our points clear now.
-
Literally what is going well right now? There is no clue of what is the outcome of the contract renewal. So literally what is going well?
Moreover, just look the last pages, is all about if SNSD will appear in the winter olympics when is already known that, as global as it is, no one watch the winter olympic games compared to the main olympic ones because they are not as relevant as the main olimpycs. SNSD appearing on them or not won't change anything, I repeat, ANYTHING!.
The one that has the hype is Japan 2020. Hell even on the last olympic winter games, Sochi 2014, the only thing that gave them buzz was the mess between Russian and Ukraine during the games. Not the event itself. So I don't know why everyone here are so adamant of SNSD appearing there when is not give them anything...nor buzz neither recognition.
maybe theyre waiting for seohyuns drama to wrap up filming before releasing anything, the speculations are endless so it is easier to make peace with the fact that there is and will be a prolonged waiting period for any news rather than getting worked up every. single. day.
-
If you don't follow other groups (even off-handedly) then you can't safely argue that other groups do not have what it takes to be invited.
That's irrelevant; yes, they could do that, but they don't. And I do because this is an event that potentially involves the biggest acts of kpop, not just Soshi. I didn't start the subject, just replied to comments already made.
i wasnt arguing that lol
and lol why is my point suddenly irrelevant when talking about snsd's touring power when you say that about multiple groups?
i still dont get your point but whatever youre just being obtuse
-
And you missed mine.
What makes you think a group like Twice is not loved globally? Sure they might not be a cultural icon, but their popularity does not come from S.K alone, they're also huge everywhere. Itunes is just a innacurate way to measure their overall popularity and if we're going by global impact, then the logical answer is BTS and EXO. Sells within the millions, actual global tours and popularity everywhere.
i honestly dont follow any other groups. my only point is that the olympics is watched around the world. snsd also can tour around the world if they wanted
im not disputing anyones popularity so i dont know why you keep bringing up other groups so what is your point? i would honestly like to know just to clear things up

Whoa, hold up. I never insinuated Soshi is not popuar anymore, but only delusional Sones will deny the growth Twice has shown these past couple years. Two years of being inactive and SM's sabotage do not help matters; people who follow SNSD will know foul play was at hand for this comeback, but the general public will only see a dwindling group.
This is what I mean by some Sones taking their popularity for granted; we just assume everything will be handed over to them in a silver plater and no-one comes close to them; that might have been true some years ago, but it's simply not the case now. As a girl group, yes they hold their ground perfectly fine still by the strength of legacy and fan power alone, but there are far more popular (or trending, but same difference) groups at the moment. EXO, BTS, BB (although I already gave my reasons why they wouldn't be invited)...Wanna One is taking up S.K by the storm and it would only be foolish to underestimate Twice; they are the girl group with the most presence at the moment. The real question is why wouldn't Twice be invited? They have everything going for them right now and saying they're biting our toes is putting it lightly.
I would love for Soshi to be invited, maybe they will, but I don't see it happening. If there's an SM group going, it'll be EXO.
i feel like you completely missed my point?
no, they're not the hot thing in sk anymore but the olympics is a global event it is not only going to be watched by korea. the whole word has access to tune in so they will not only be inviting artists with the korean public in mind.
globally, judging by their most recent no.1s in itune countries, snsd are still more popular than the hot trendy things in korea.
im not taking anything for granted but its clear that due to snsd's 'long career' and plus the fact that they have had more promos abroad than any trendy young groups currently its only logical that they would be by default more popular abroad
any ways i said everything in my first post, maybe re read it idk but i dont want to go round in circles lol
-
I wouldn't count on it, even if they all remain in the group. Love them or not, this was not their year as a group, so I think they'll invite a group who has constantly been on the publics' eye all year throughout, so either BTS, Twice or EXO.
i really disagree with the whole 'why would they invite snsd, theyre not popular anymore'. they may not be the hot thing in korea anymore but the olympics is a global event, its not only watched by the people of korea, countries from all around the world participate and tune in so its obvious that as a host country you would try and get your more globally recognised artists to perform to create buzz and media attention as well as getting the country's current trendy groups to perform alongside to boost their global recognition.
what other gg is as popular as snsd is globally? it seems only logical to get snsd to perform really
if it helps to put in to perspective heres the list of winter olympic broadcasters and here in the uk it will be broadcasted by the bbc

Goodbye SNSD

honestly you can't compare BEG to SNSD because one is under shitty sm. and we all know how great they are with inactive/on hiatus groups..
sm could've at least given them their own label like their labelmate suju (which I think personally needs to call it quits already)
