Nah I definitely agree with you, I wanted that Chan Wook Park twist to it, especially since the show kept reminding me to Lady Vengeance. His movies are about how revenge can't fix a broken soul, this is the reason why I like his movies so much. When she was on that edge, I kept thinking "I know she won't jump, but would be actually interesting if she did". I also didn't like the romance storyline. But I can understand the reason behind all those decisions, producers probably wanted the show to be more public friendly.

The thing about fans ships is that most of them will be imagined, including straight ships but many people hook up with/ date people they work with and that includes two women and two men. I'm sure there was a BL couple who did admit to being together. I'm sure people said that was all fanservice lol. It just annoys me when people act like it isn't possible and dismiss anything people do in a way they never would if it was a guy and a girl. Like Becky said, seems she is getting shipped with the whole (male) industry
Anyway, they are very cute and clearly mean a lot to each other. Sad that some "fans" can accept them in a GL but are desperate for them to be straight irl. People continue being odd
thanks for the video
yeah I get what you mean, some people are weird.

Not Korean entertainment but relevant in terms of fanservice discussions and heteronormativity in general:
The two main actresses from GAP (Freen and Becky) the series have basically all but said they are dating. There is a video of one of them calling the other Teerak (darling) and then being like "oh shit" because they didn't realise they were being filmed. One of them spoke about being in a relationship and happy and basically described her relationship with the other one- how they are always together, feel safe with each other etc. Too much to go into right now but there is a lot that lines up but some people still refuse to entertain the possibility and ship them with guys they stand next to, dismiss everything they do as fanservice (including stuff off cam and crying when talking about how much they mean to each other etc) and call people delusional when they think they are a thing. Fanservice is part of the job for sure but it isn't naturally exclusive with genuine affection. Some people can't even accept that they are close friends (at the very least) and say they just really be straight and can't be together because they are "feminine" which is ridiculous.
No doubt lots of shippers are delusional l, but that goes for shippers of male and females together too, and it is just frustrating how heteronormativity and homophobia will make people dismiss things that are valid. If it was a man and a woman people would be convinced by way less. Even if they straight up said "yes, we are a couple" people would doubt it lol. People forget that many LGBT people can't be out and even though they would be supported by many, lots of people do not accept it. It's the same with idols who are pretty clearly not straight but people would only accept it if they actually said the words, even then some wouldn't. It's just sad.
Anyway, just my way of saying that fanservice and real feelings can go together. Every situation is different but sometimes a spoon is just a spoon lol.
People also insist they see each other as sisters because of the "PhiNong" thing in Thailand, even though people from there have explained a million times that it isn't just used in that context, the same way Oppa and Unnie aren't in Korean.
Can you put a link to that video? Honestly, as a Gap viewer I'm trying to not look very deeply into Freenbeck's relationship cause I know how fanservice work, I know there's always a possiblity (very very small) that those things become real, but it's so unlikely that sometimes is just better not get your hopes up cause then the dissappointment hits harder
but I do think that if there was ever a case of fanservice becoming a real thing, Freenbeck would be the most believable/realistic ship imo, there's too much going on, plus is not unusual for actors who play a couple to get together irl, but who knows.

I saw this on my timeline I'm curious have any of you watched this thai drama?hey! I just started watching this and so far it's good! I usually don't like wlw shows/movies directed by men, but this one feels different, if I didn't know beforehand this was directed by a man, I wouldn't have been able to tell. It has its cringy moments and slow-mo/over the top romantic scenes. But the actresses have really good chemistry and everything looks very natural. The love scenes are very cute and don't feel overly sexualized. I also woulnd't recommend to just watch their kissing scenes, it feels different when you actually watch how their relationship builds up.
A bit unrelated, but just the other day I finished watching this Mexican show called Madre Sólo Hay Dos which also depicts a wlw romance, the show is also cute, light-hearted and fun, but
Spoiler(SPOILER) the way the writers handled the lesbian couple relationship at the end was honestly horrendous, they did end up together, but there was zero chemistry, very poor development and it felt so one-sided.
so in comparison, watching Gap was like night and day.

This is par for the course when it comes to her unhinged fans. Point out something isn’t quite right, they’ll then dig at every other artists but not acknowledge the problems with their own. Fools don’t get this just makes people dislike JWY more, even though she’s not responsible for these asshats.
this isn't a problem of one single group, this has been consistently a problem for many groups, so why cherrypick instead of acknowledging there's indeed an issue in the industry?

What is this? "Eye for an eye". My faves get hate, so should others? And the fact that this posted just few hours after the 1st one....
Anyway, I don't know about either of them.
Read the post, no one is hating on Le Sserafim, they are calling out the double standards. No one deserves the hate.

Jang Wonyoung got sworn at to no ends when she lipsynced while sitting down, but Le Sserafim did the exact same? At that time, even foreigners didn't have much issue with it, and nobody would go look for everyone's clips one my one aside from "them"? They're only doing that against IVE, isn't it way too severe?
It's true that Kim Chaewon is known for her good voice but they're still allowed to sit and lipsync depending on the situations, but have you ever seen communities with thousands of comments bash Le Sserafim like they did towards Jang Wonyoung?post response:

They wouldn't care if it wasn't Jang Wonyoung, but since it's Jang Wonyoung, it drives them crazy2. [+122, -17]
Regardles of whether ther skills are good or not, they're just swearing at her to death because it's Jang Wonyoung who's the one sitting down and lipsyncing ㅋㅋ Is this the proof of the gap between their recognition and fame?ㅠ...3. [+106, -22]
Those roaches are showing you what it means to have double standardsㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ (t/n: the expression 내로남불 means = if I'm in an affair, it's a romance, but if others do, it's an affair)4. [+87, -15]
The fact that this is only happening against IVE shows that there is a systemic manipulation of the public's opinion in celebrities galleries5. [+55, -8]
Can Pann b*tches cut it down with the female idol hate? Honestly, you guys are praising male idols for being cute when they mess up a choreography, and even make gifs out of them with filters, but when it's a female idol, you guys turn it into a controversy..ㅋㅋ (I'm not saying this to bash male idols, I'm saying this to show the double standard which is just funny). Whether it's Le Sserafim or Jang Wonyoung, just stop it already. Can't you guys go live your own lives? You guys are triggered when people call you "a woman's biggest ennemy is another woman" meanwhile you'll never let go of that women hate until you die. You guys are the ones working the hardest to hate on other women Pann b*tches___________________________

i feel like she's basically out without actually saying if she's bisexual or some other label. was looking for stuff on bibi earlier and also saw she did a video saying happy pride so that's nice
there's also this music video storyboard which i think is in her latest album? not sure
there are so many things about Bibi that I would honestly be more surprised if she ever comes out as het.

They look so ankward standing that far from one another, the english lyrics at the beginning are kind of a mess but the chorus eats even in English ang ugh Liz sounds so good... i swear to God, I liked this song but it's so damn addictive
I was laughing my ass off during the whole video, the guy looked so funny just staring at the girls and dancing, while the girls were completely ignoring his existence and standing still on their spot, it was awkward indeed, but the song is still good.

"IVE performing Royal todayIt seriously sounded like raw live and they were legendary...Their high notes were so refreshing that when people were leaving, they kept saying "why is IVE so good live? They are crazy" over and over again""You're telling me they performed Royal with a hand mic?""Their live is too good, seriously"original post: here1. I like Liz. She's so cute~ and so talented2. Seems like nobody is hating on them saying that they can't sing live anymoreㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ IVE has so many trolls3. I find them likable for singing live. I watched the full video and they were good4. Seeing them sing live makes them look so pretty ㅜㅜ5. Everyone was hating on them because of their university festival performance and I found it so-so. This makes me so happyㅋㅋㅋ6. They look so pretty because they are hard working7. Wonyoung seriously improved so much. Fascinating8. It's true that they weren't good at live at first but seeing them working hard makes me like them. The more I see them, the more I see their improvements9. Liz' adlibs are so good10. Ahn Yujin is seriously so good. I want to hear her in real life______________

i'm glad i'm not latino.
Imagine having to argue constantly that these white people from spain do not represent you at all.
People who have native american blood have to share their identity with their colonizers who erased their language and committed lots of genocide.. I will never count those white descendants as "latinos". Not ever. Respect the indigenous!
most Latinos have both native and Spanish blood tho (and some African as well).
-
Some people don't see Southern Europeans as white (like Alessia Cara, Javier Bardem, etc), let alone latinos even if they're of fully European descent.

I mean, there are weird people everywhere, I'm Mexican and I was once invited to a friend's house to watch movies, and as soon as the last movie ended, he turned on the lights and told us to leave before even our parents came back to pick us up, it was late and cold outside and we were outside his home waiting for someone to pick us up, lol, he was just a very weird guy overall.
