they're also flat out lying to sway fans, it's wild. Pretty sure they just put the deluxe edition prices of some Hybe groups against the compact prices of SM groups and hoped nobody would spot that? because the pricing is no different between the two companies. They really out here acting like stan twitter lol
-
I liked Gfriend but they were really not anywhere as profitable as all the SM groups mentioned here. Never had an album cross 100k sales and their sales were stagnant, so the renegotiation likely fell through for financial reasons. Still sucks for the girls but if I was a shareholder I'd also support just debuting new groups with the potential to sell a million in under a year instead.

there's so much pressure on especially women to stay looking young and sexy I'm not surprised so many celebrities can't handle aging.
-
kpop fans really do love throwing words like p*do around like it's just a regular insult. Surely you can express criticism of MHJ and her art direction/taste without making up allegations like that. The amount of people I've seen calling her a "confirmed p*do" is insane. That's a serious allegation, not some tik tok buzz word.

Which male idols do you think are gay?
Eremit replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
ship popularity often corresponds with idol popularity. For example, Jikook is especially popular in Korea and the US where Jimin is more popular than V. Meanwhile Taekook is more popular in Japan and China and other assorted international countries where V is more popular than Jimin. It's often just a matter of who's your favourite self-insert lol. Also why Taejin is so popular in Korea, Jin is more popular there, while he's mostly relegated to the sideship of Namjin internationally. -
gotta give it to them, their creative team is fire. They feel very fresh in this kpop landscape, like it's been a while since a kpop goup has really surprised. No idea if they can keep this up in the long run but their debut year is pretty outstanding so far.
-
looking at their pre-debut pictures just makes me anticipate all of their nose-jobs which is sad, but well, this is Kpop. They all look cute but no way are they all debuting that natural. That's one issue I have with debuting such young idols...they all get surgery super young and often they have trouble with maintaining/revising their looks since they were still growing when they got stuff done.

I think it's up to any person to not support due to racist ignorance or bodyshaming because those are huge dealbreakers obviously, but at the same time it is true that if you do mind that, you need to keep in mind that legit the entire kpop industry is problematic as hell lol. Only the newest newbie groups haven't really messed up (yet). Off the top of my head, NCT have their fair share of those scandals, SKZ have done some stuff, EXO comes to mind, BTS obviously messed up tons of times and those are just the groups people (or I lol) hear about. So yeah, Enhypen isn't some big outlier I think their stuff was just more blown up bc everyone got "interested" in the Sunoo bullying situation (I don't follow Enhypen enough to know whether that one's true but the kpop community loves themselves some bullying scandals). -
so since Ive and NewJeans are the most popular 4th gen girl groups rn, how do they compare vocally? I'd say they're both among the weakest vocal groups currently (goes to show vocals really are an afterthought in Kpop) but if we compare the two groups? Liz> Hanni/Danielle > Yujin > Hyein > the rest? the two seem kind of interchangeable overall but I see a lot of Dives saying Ive are a lot better vocally so maybe I haven't listened to them enough.

I'm from Europe and lived in the UK and tanning is only a thing among a subsection of the population and definitely in no way comparable to how ubiquitous the pale skin beauty standard in in SK. Every white person I hung out with in Scotland was pale as snow, and so were any middle and upper class people from elsewhere in the UK. The heavy self tanning look is very much associated with working class (think Geordie Shore) and therefore seen as tacky. the country I live in now is the same, except the self tanning look is even rarer, you barely see people like that and those are usually people who favour a certain look overall, which is absolutely not the mainstream beauty standard.- 26,481 replies

I mean they did the same for Woojin from SKZ and he definitely misbehaved somehow, based on his bandmates' reaction. It's actually not a bad thing not to slander the artist leaving. Honestly I'd feel like it was vindictive to state sth like "Member X is no longer a part of the group due to his terrible personality/unprofessionalism/because we caught him with drugs/idk what else". They're already not the company's problem anymore, no reason to taint their potential image and career forever.

I don't think that's comparable. There's a bunch of models/actresses/etc with very pale skin and they're also considered very beautiful. You get the whole range. Whereas in SK literally everyone except for one or two notable exceptions are usually picking the palest possible filters and foundation.- 26,481 replies

I wish Gidle would have won something but MMA had no wtf type winners, unlike some other award shows. It's still rigged most likely, but more reputable than most I'd say. You don't get random wins of people who aren't even in the top 5 of their category.

last take on BTS/Qatar I swear, but speaking as a fan who's mostly ignoring everything about JK at the world cup and the sham of a world cup in general, I do think people expect too much of them in terms of being progressives/liberals and in my opinion, individual members might very well be that (RM and Suga have shown signs, especially earlier in their career, others might be very conservative we just don't know), but BTS as a brand is HUGE and far bigger than anything else in Kpop. Their brand is carefully curated to be as inoffensive as possible, it just promotes unity and inclusivity at most. Every misstep of theirs has had huge repercussions compared to other groups, when they spoke about the Korean War, China's politicians got involved. Korea's political parties have been using them for diplomatic gains for years. When Jimin wore a shirt that other idols had worn before, Japan had discussions about disinviting Kpop idols from their stages. BTS is so big they still make up for 60% of the profit of one of Korea's biggest entertainment conglomerates despite being half-inactive and there's many, many powerful, influential people who have a big stake in nothing shaking up that worth. I'm sure the members care about their bag too lol, but this isn't the West where Taylor Swift mostly answers to herself (and even she's super careful about what she endorses and condemns), BTS answer to a lot of people at the end of the day. I'd be careful too in that situation. I think it'll be years before we hear them being as politically outspoken as they were early in their careers, probably once they've faded a bit in relevance. If then (since the brand will continue to be profitable even if they stopped making music today). that's also why I sincerely doubt that any of them would ever come out, if they were gay. -
If anyone here has kids or ever wants them, don't be like one of THOSE parents. Me: your kid is constantly antagonising other children, he insults them, pushes them, ruins their things when they upset him. Please talk to him about respecting the rules and make it clear to him there'll be consequences if this keeps up. Mom: he has NEVER had any issues before and this ONLY happens in your class. Clearly you need to do a better job keeping the kids under control. Also my adorable little angel only acts out because he's being provoked. He has no behavioural issues whatsoever. UGHHH. A, teachers talk to each other. I know exactly what your adorable little angel has pulled in math class, in art class, in PE,...and the list goes on. And B, we have access to his documents so I ALSO know he was suspended in primary school for three weeks for trying to physically harm another kid. Keep ignoring the problems and keep neglecting to teach your kid about consequences and boundaries but don't come crying to me in 3-4 years when your adorable little angel flunks out of school and doesn't come home at night or gets arrested because he does whatever he pleases to do.

I mean how many kpop groups have performed in Saudi Arabia by now? BTS are the only ones I recall getting a huge backlash but Saudi Arabia's views on LGBT issues are certainly no better than Qatar's. I don't approve of Jungkook participating but I also think people hold them to a different standard than everyone else. If China was open for Kpop groups everyone and their mom would perform there too, no matter their iffy standing on human rights etc. Kpop is above all a capitalist venture. -

are you blaming the other members for JK's potential eating issues? because from what I remember they always praise and fawn over his muscles/body. Didn't they all start working out too? I have no idea why you think the others were critical of JK bulking up and "pressured" him into losing weight again. If anything, athletic Jungkook has always been presented as body goals by BTS and I distinctly remember him being complimented for his body A LOT, and also members being like, no you should eat, have some food when he talked about dieting. Obviously they're all dieting all the time, such is the life of a Kpop idol, but your comment is really projecting a LOT onto them. Edit: and not to mention, when Jimin diets he's "doing it for the attention" but when Jungkook does it, he's being pressured by his mean group mates? lol that's certainly a take.- 26,481 replies

SM really just going screw it, might as well go for broke and just handing NCT Dream album AND artist of the year lmao like album would have been questionable already but artist?? Who on earth would call NCT Dream the artist of the year. Literally everyone else who was nominated had a more impactful year.

people who praise Ive and then slam NewJeans for being minors and too young etc in the same breath are ridiculous and it needs to be pointed out more often. Ive debuted at practically the exact same age range, singing love songs and honestly their choreo is probably more verging on sexy than NJ. If you really have a problem with minors debuting in the industry, you need to keep that energy for both groups (and all the others like them), but going omg slay Leeseo!! so young and already so talented!! in one tweet and then being all worried about the exploitation of minors under every NJ tweet is completely hypocritical. Based on their recent CD purchase statistics, Ive's fanbase is almost 50% male, while NJ is 75% female, so maybe think about that too when you worry about what concepts appeal to straight men.

idk about that because if you look closely, it seems they actually tried to make them look a bit smaller (the upper lip especially) with make-up, I think it's that effect that makes them look a bit weird.- 26,481 replies

tbh I'm not convinced she got one bc yeah the area where she has the scar is unusual, especially considering she's an idol so that area will be visible a lot, you'd think they would want the under armpit version. She could have gotte the scar from other things too. but if she got one and isn't just padding, it looks very natural. A friend of mine also got a boob job where she just went up one cup size, people questioned why she'd do it for such a small change, but her body looks amazing now. Small changes can really enhance your looks, and still look natural. If you change a lot, chances are it'll throw off your natural features.- 26,481 replies

I love it too, didn't expect anything from the teasers but it slaps. The MV is really good, too. Much better than Fearless IMO.
