Chen is not my bias but i really think he's the least appreciated/popular member. many people say it's Minseok, but he's very popular actually. Chen is the one who gets less attention and is too often just used as a token vocalist to defend exo's vocal skills against antis. i don't get why people don't want to acknowledge this. i think some fans just ignore this. he really, absolutely deserves more. he knows this and has a sad look on his face sometimes. it just breaks my freaking heart...

i wasn't trying to belittle what you were saying or come on too strong by the way, just expressing my own opinion on the matter and if you have elements that go against what i said then i'd be here to hear them - i am actually genuinely curious as to what made you think that kyungsoo wasn't trying at whatever point in time, like if there are particular performances or something

Don't worry about it too much! We all express our feelings like this about kyungsoo at some point. It might feel like everyone is ganging up on you but I think they just happened to see your post first and responded to it /before/ seeing that others had responded to you ( it's the nature of backtracking through the thread) It's your opinion and your free to express it!

what do you mean when you say he's half assing? are you talking about his dancing? his expressions, maybe? his general attitude?

 

if it's his dancing, his moves were definitely sharper back during debut era, he was amazing in the history dance practice

they did get sloppier with time but i definitely wouldn't say that it's because he doesn't want to be an idol, there's plenty of performances where you can see him having fun with some songs post-2015 especially out of the music shows which to me aren't really an indicator considering they really have to get the choreo down pat

 

i totally agree with what indigo said about it depending on the song. even though i wouldn't want to project, you can see the songs he particularly enjoys by the way he performs them in my opinion

 

for example call me baby aka the song he liked so much he shouted "that's it" and went out of the room, 2016 performance

 

 

don't get me started on lucky one, 2017 performance

i'd need to watch ko ko bop performances again to really judge because i haven't really paid attention to them (though i do think he plays with his expressions in his singing parts the way he hasn't since lmr, from the bits i've seen) but i haven't got the feeling of him not trying during the eve performances?

 

tldr even if his performances aren't as sharp as before and he doesn't go all out on the moves i don't think it has anything to do with him not wanting to be an idol. not a dancer, maybe, not an idol, no.

I don't agree with you at all if you read his interviews or even watched the knowing brother episode you will realize that kyungsoo didn't become an idol for the fame or the money just simply because he enjoys singing and dancing he ( said it himself in interview that he enjoys dancing ), and if you see the fancams for the other members he didn't show less energy or lazy moves he was as good as the others, and same goes to his acting the only difference I think that he fall in love with acting after trying it, as jo insung said in his interview when he was talking about kyungsoo that he doesn't care much about the project success because he loves the acting itself even with all the love and passion that he have for acting he will choose exo every time the asked him to choose he would say exo is my root exo is where I come from he puts exo schedule above his acting schedule and you still doubting whether he still wants to be an idol or not, and I think he improved this comeback his moves looks sharper and faster and should know that while he was practicing for this comeback he was practicing also for the tap dancing in the same time so he didn't have same time to practice as the others had
