I dunno if it was on purpose but it's funny you give that example because he has a curious obsession with imitating Justin Bieber. He really is hilarious! He's linked to some informative stuff I discovered on /r/singing and his channel actually. I seriously figure he must be mistaken about baritones, though, but he's not simply an obnoxious ARMY. Like, he has multi-hour Bieber song practice videos so that has to be a sincere different perspective. idk honestly. I tried to search for studies before but couldn't find anything. Best I could find was a bunch of quotes like this But it's true anyways so it's unavoidable. How is it supposed to work exactly that your larynx position effects your vocal folds? I don't see why it would. But it makes sense why lowering it would be less fatiguing since that creates more loudness for less effort, an acoustic non-biological reason. I think there's other factors.

Can't relate since I'm a dude but I believe you. I've made plenty of observations of people who only support down to Bb3/B3 speaking clearly even below G3 in varieties or vlives or wherever. That's the average speaking frequency for adult females. Lower pitches take less muscle strength. I've heard a few F#3s listening to classical songs. There's more that goes into tone beyond 'supported' or 'unsupported' but I assume it's mostly a style, or mental issue, like airy falsetto. adding an example, the thing that might get overlooked is the talking at the end after 4:03. Doesn't this sound normal? It's F#3

Hydrating, not speaking, and getting extra sleep is all you can really do. Maybe some Sudafed if you've got congestion, or brew some tea and inhale the steam, or take a quick walk around the neighborhood every hour for some cold, fresh air. Don't take aspirin though. Hope you can enjoy that class.

Oh, she name-dropped Gary Catona. Didn't know how much she learned from him. That line about speaking from the back of her throat fits with his views against mask placement. Just for the record, those are myths that dairy causes phlegm or caffeinated drinks like soda dehydrate you. This doesn't have to do with Ailee now but I was reminded I forgot to link this before: Joyce DiDonato talking about breathing

lol at least there's someone who would pay attention. fwiw I try to fact check things and can't recall finding anything you said mistaken. It all looked fairly conventional actually, outside of certain bubbles. Even down to your woes about the decline of opera singers. I noticed you used lower/upper register and decided I'd call it that since I saw those terms recommended by this paper: http://www.ncvs.org/pas/2004/pres/thurman/ThurmanPaper.htm Another neat little factoid I got from this is that passaggio are caused by subglottal sound waves. It's good to know there's explanations for some things even if only to be sure what's real. About breathy low notes, I had a suspicion it was by choice. Hwang Chiyeol totally does it on purpose sometimes (4:24) Pushing seems like it'd be a bigger problem than any mixing nitpicks as far as unhealthiness goes. From Dr. Zeitels, that famous celebrity surgeon, "more trauma because they’re higher pressure." It's kind of common sense too.

The trufax about biological muscle stuff goes over my head so it's no wonder it's hard to find reliable info from musicians, but I believe this is close to accurate. C.Y. can correct me if I'm wrong. If there's no tension then what would keep the glottis sealed? There has to be tension so both the TA and CT muscles and several other groups are always active in both upper/lower registers. There's terms I like, breathy->neutral/flow->pressed, where pressed would be when you want to remove tension, but you always want to remove as much tension as possible in the pharynx since there are only constrictor muscles there.
-
Glottis is the fancy term for the vocal fold closure, so glottal tension is the exact same thing as pushing, throatiness, strain and even supporting. At least by definition, you'd have to ask him to clarify how he's using it since these are 5 different perceptual terms for the same mechanical thing. There's pros and cons to tension: it's more efficient but it's more fatiguing. any tension not on the vocal folds is just acoustic changes so it isn't harmful in any way but it might be worse for how you sound

I can't watch that part @2:25 without laughing anymore

Put your head on my shoulder! I love that song, your mom is cool. The "baby" parts are my favorite Only the moments when she's a scale degree low at first, but yeah, that's a stylistic choice. And it is a crutch too. Some people like it, others don't. I've seen vibrato criticized by plenty of people because it's a way of masking intonation, particularly from the Renaissance polyphony crowd or Baroque violinists. Pitch is a tricky subject, there's more complicated stuff like temperaments and psychology and crap. Maybe something relevant about scooping is it supposedly makes a note sound deeper, which might be particularly useful for Sohyang.

Jihyo, Sungjae, Rosé, Yuju, Jaehwan performance Yuju and Rosé both tried some really high notes if you're curious to hear the contrast. Reading your debate but feel too uncertain to say much. I do believe there's different valid techniques to suit different kinds of music. The musical theater singer sounds the best singing that genre obviously. About Sohyang's pitch issues, you wouldn't happen to be talking about her appoggiatura or scooping? It's something I noticed she's extremely fond of doing. Funny thing is if you search "falcon soprano" on Wikipedia it simply redirects you Cornélie Falcon, the sole person it was intended to describe. I don't think a role was ever given that fach, which makes it irrelevant.

Poor guy's hoarse af. Probably from acid reflux but there's some irony due to seeing his opinions as facts. http://www.sethriggs.com/resume.html Only listen to him with a grain of salt. This might have been mentioned before but Sohyang uses his exercises (0:58) There's some short live clips of Haseul around. I'm assuming she'll be the main vocalist unless that will be one of the final girls... if they even have conventional positions in this group's concept?

If you want to watch Yoojung's part, it starts at 1:21:50 https://www.viki.com/videos/1119790v-king-of-masked-singer-episode-131?locale=en she did a good job showing her personality and various skills. Click here to view the Tweet

It gives me confidence how they're keeping up the momentum, always working. These upcoming projects are my most anticipated thing in a while. I'll be very happy whenever the sub team can make time for a show. Click here to view the Tweet
