  1. KanJAM is set to premiere on May 10th! Finally an air date. And Kanjani8 Chronicles will premiere 6 days later on Yoko's birthday.
  2. More talented in singing and dancing, yes. Though I would argue that some from Johnnys & Associates have more overall talents than the guys in EXILE or 3G-JSB or GENE. And despite not being a 48G fan, I would also argue that there are actual genuine talents in the pool of 100s of girls in there. Blurred lines they are, blurred lines. *grabs*
  3. Looks like Kanjani8 Recital will be like 8sai, only this time they will be touring outside of Tokyo and Osaka.
  4. Looks like I'm going to have to jump in this idol conversation for a bit. I'm not in a position to defend Johnnys since the only act I actually follow at the moment is Kanjani8, though as long as you follow their news you'll at least know a little bit of their history. A lot of the basic conception of 'what is an idol' is that they're manufactured and only given the materials to perform without their own input. I've seen fans of LDH 'put down' Johnnys just because the latter are supposedly inferior in terms of singing and dancing (which I don't deny, and I wonder how many people here remember that I was an EXILE fan), and that Johnnys 'don't do their own thing'. Which makes them idols. Except, Johnnys DO do their own thing. Bits from the groups that I know a little bit of history like Kanjani8, TOKIO, KinKi Kids etc, they: - write their own lyrics AND their own music that are put in their albums - play instruments, and they're good at it - produce their own concerts - produce their own videos (in the case of TOKIO) - conceptualize and materialize their own solo images (in the case of KinKi Kids duo) - independently choose the songs they want in an album (Kanjani8 have been doing so for a while) - produce their own stages (Shounen Club, that TV stage show on NHK which is for Johnny's Jrs, is produced by Johnny's Jrs themselves, which is why you can see many flaws, but they're flaws that stem from inexperiences) - produce their own stage plays I can go on and on, but in a nutshell, if Johnnys are doing all of this and yet they're still idols, what makes someone an idol especially these days? Some act may be doing everything and still an idol. Some act may not be doing anything much themselves and still not an idol. It's a blurred line, as simple as that.
  5. Omg Kurara! As pretty as Yoko as a girl. Let's throw Yasu in the mix too!
  6. It's probably for Janiben. I don't think the new shows go out on location yet.
  7. Oh someone updated this thread yay! Kanjanism Live Tour DVD/Blu-Ray will be out on April 29th!
  8. Well they probably don't think that buying a CD for like what, a 6-second handshake ticket (and 10 of them so that they can get a full minute of handshake) is gimmicky at all. Yeah riiight. Posting in this thread finally after a long time so hi all! *waves-
  9. His forte. Not that I don't like it when he's the goody two shoes, like in 11-nin mo Iru.
  10. I'm watching this and Ouroboros so far this season. The leads, Hirose and Kamiki are great and I love their banter. Some of the times when Haruna stands up to those rich bullies are of her own will which I love. And the ending of ep2 with regarda to Kei, I can think of at least 2 possibilities. And the theme song! Perfect song from B'z.
  11. Not only the story is brilliant and the acting is good, the ratings are crazy as well! Definitely THE hit of the year, possible to be Kaseifu no Mita of 2013: 1st - 19.4% 2nd - 21.8% 3rd - 22.9% 4th - 27.6% 5th - 29.0%
  12. 3 main reasons why they are not on Music Station (yet): 1) No top 5 on the Oricon chart 2) Not killing it digitally 3) Not enough agency power like Avex (like what they did for 2NE1) or Vision Factory (like what they did for Fairies) Oh yeah for the recent Music Station, we can add one new reason: not a newly-popular/hip/indie band. MS is simply too prestigious and hard to get invited to.
  13. Sorry double-post.
  14. Tony is one of my favs too! In fact I've also watched most of his movies, but I haven't caught up with The Silent War yet.
  15. Ah, I've actually watched Secret too! And liked it a lot. It's a good movie, but agreed that Jay needs lot of work when it comes to expressions. Nic is one of my most fav HK actors, and possibly my most favourite! I haven't kept up with his news much these days (since he pretty much gave up/quit the music industry), but I've watched/kept up with all of his movies and own half of the DVDs. I've known for a while that he's mega-popular in China, but I didn't know until recently how much he enjoys a godly status in the Mainland, which somewhat surprises me, given his divorce and all that.
  16. I only listen to his songs casually, and don't watch his movies much except for a few like Initial D and the latest one I've seen was The Viral Factor (owns the DVD because of Nicholas Tse). He's an OK actor, improves a lot in Viral Factor though most times his acting is outdone by Nic Tse in the movie. Even then, I'm still aware of his reputation in music.
  17. Jay is THE Asian heavenly king! How dare they said that?? *even if I'm never a fan*
  18. FLOWER is almost sure will win the Youtube views. They're already at 570k+ (last time I checked), compared to Happiness at 375k. And FLOWER's views grow much faster than Happiness'. Happiness might take the live attendance, but with Taiyou to Himawari's PV, they might just gain more fans. We'll see.
  19. How many slots they have this time? The same as Sayonara Crawl, more or less? And Yuko is still the only one able to sell out the first round. But yeah I see NMB girls (and Nana) so high on the list!
  20. What?? They're not giving centre to 2 of their highest-ranking members? Wow.
