  1. I've been thinking about him too mostly because I've barely seen as much concern about him in comparison to Onew and Taeyeon. Regardless of whether they were a couple or not, they were still very close and Key has a history of self-harm (and the constant going out and getting so plastered somebody would have to go get him seemed very similar to Onew's current predicament). I also heard that he locked himself in his room when he found out, which may not be accurate but is totally plausible with his personality. I'm sure somebody in their inner circle is keeping an eye on him, but I'm still antsy. Honestly the coverage of this has been handled in a way that could really feed into suicide contagion (detailing the method, circulating his suicide note), and given how crappy mental health is addressed pretty much everywhere, but particularly in SK, and how many vulnerable people have been deeply impacted by this, I'm kinda on edge.
  2. I just looked at my phone and saw the article in Forbes. This is so sad, I'meant thinking about his family, group mates, and all those lives he touched.
  3. The ones in bold are the ones I was going to say. IMFACT, Jun (A.C.E.) and Ji Hansol I already suspected from before the show, the others have done suspect things on the show, though with Seyong it's his inner bitchy diva personality and mannerisms that get me. I can see why some would suspect Dongmyeong, but he was really excited at the prospect of HyunA doing their evaluation for the cover mission and was disappointed that it was Rain instead which I know my gay ass would have been there for breathing the same air as that man, so I'm eh on him. B-Joo doesn't do anything on the show but didn't have some suspicious interactions in ToppDogg? How does Marco ping you? That's surprising to me.
  4. He's also wearing the Cartier bracelet Jonghyun got him for his birthday in the first pic too.
  5. Exactly, there isn't even a solid statistic for what percentage of the general population is non-hetero so you can't even say what would be "realistic." And if there were, that says nothing about the distribution. Say you have 100 idols in 10 groups of 10 and 10% are gay. Each group could each have one gay member or one group could have all 10 members be gay, or they could be spread across 3 groups. Either way, 10% of those 100 idols would still be gay. In regards to the masculine vs. feminine thing, what behaviors constitute as what is going to vary base on cultural norms and constructions of gender. There is also the concept of code switching where one may present one way in a dominant culture setting, but act differently in the minority culture setting. I've known plenty of gay men who present very masculine in dominantly heter settings like work or school, but will queen it up when around other gay men or will act sightly more effeminate to signal to another potential gay man that they're on the same team. Gay people are also just more attuned to what behavior is considered "gay" vs. "straight" because at some point, someone has tried to correct us or somebody else's behavior to be more heteronormative. So if you want to stay in the closet, you do the things that are considered "normal" and avoid those behaviors that would out you, and vice versa when you want to drop hints to let others know your gay. Having a gaydar is just being able to pick up on those behaviors in others. Gay people tend to have good ones because we have to pay attention to this stuff, but anyone can develop a good one to the point that you'll be able to be pretty accurate and not get tripped up by whether someone is feminine or masculine.
  6. I was just going to ask if anyone has been watching The Unit because of these two. I only know about Imfact because of the posts on here so my antenna went up when Ungjae took Jungha under his wing kinda agressively, then in this last episode he kept gushing when they were alone in their dorm together. While production is busy making sure the girls an guys never even make eye contact, we have a budding gay romance getting airtime, lol.
  7. "Boy I'm holding onto something, I won't let go for nothing, Running, running, to keep my hands on you" (?) Ummmmmmmmmm...okay I get that feeling too in regards to the emotional connections. It was really evident in that message he wrote to Jaehyun once, the level of emotional investment he puts into his close relationships. It seemed way more than what people usually invest in even their best friendships.
  8. I was just watching this Vlive, and apparently Kevin is also a Beyonce stan. His answer to the question what song they were really into right now was "Lemonade, particularly Formation." I'm keeping my eyes on that one...
  9. I wondered what happened to you. You haven't missed much (except for all the messy thread drama). Sehun is still running around with his daddy Chefsuke. Heechul and Gunhee are fine as far as we know. Jonghyun bought Key a very expensive Cartier bracelet for his birthday which Key posted a picture of the box with a caption that referred to Jonghyun as "the man who loves me/my world," so if you weren't convinced of them before, well... There are a lot of new groups debuting and comebacks so it should start to get good in here again.
  10. Edit: Sorry didn'the see the other replies! Continue...
  11. You do know that gay people still exist and identify as such regardless if there is a gay rights movement? Before Stonewall and even up until like the last 10 years, gay people and gay culture were not mainstream and the general public didn't talk about it or accept it outside of the HIV/AIDS epidemic or in regards to the "threat to traditional family values." I've also seen plenty of man on the street interviews conducted by Koreans in Korea asking random people their opinion on the LGBT community and they had opinions on the matter, so they know what the concept is. Plus Western culture is widely consumed, a lot of these idols go to the U.S. or have lived or were born there and would bring that perspective over. And the Internet is a thing which allows people to access communities and ideas that they may not have access too (this is major for the LGBT community because if you don'the live in a major city in a liberal area, the resources available to you are slim, yes even I the "progressive West"). I just don't understand how any of that has any bearing on what this thread is about. Being further along in the acceptance and understanding of sexual orientation and identity means that we know that one's gender expression (whether they are conventionally masculine or feminine by their respective cultural norms) does not dictate the former. Most of the regulars in this thread already understand that there are differences in what are considered masculine or feminine behaviors between cultures and make adjustments. That's the crux of why the Taekook posts were deemed inappropriate because in the Korean K-Pop context, there is nothing particularly gay about two men sitting in each other's laps, hugging, or being generally affectionate. This really didn't need to go on for two days.
  12. How old are you that you can't just let it go and move on? And if we non-Koreans here can't speak about Korean views on homosexuality, you certainly have no authority to preach to us about a "Western progressive gay culture" (still haven'the explained what that is), you clearly know nothing about.
  13. They're not an official couple sooooo no it's not relevant.
  14. Not most on this thread (though not everyone), I meant in general. I'm just as confused as you as to how people think he's straight...
  15. You're on a mission to expose these two...and I'm here for it. Continue. Just search his name in the thread, we had a big discussion awhile ago about him. I'm surprised someone would say there is a concensus about him, as most people just think he's straight. I use to think he was too until I started following NCT more closely and when I really observe him, the way he acts and some of the things he says, I really think he's gay.
  16. I noticed that bias too and find it puzzling because conventionally masculine men are not a rarity in the gay community at all. Like it has become so prevalent in response to the "fairy" stereotype, hypermasculinity can be as much of a tell as femininity. Granted not everyone has the ability to freely access gay spaces like bars and stuff, but when you do go you see the wide range of types and can hone your gaydar to be able to clock non-straight people beyond their general appearance or mannerisms.
  17. I find their personalities kinda weird and quirky in general, so the combination of the two together is just bound to be weird. I'd really like to see their whole clique with Ravi,Timoteo, and Sungwoon together on a show just to see what they are all like together. Also, whenever I see Kai and Taemin together I always flashback to that super awkward "love triangle" photo spread they had with Krystal in Korean W. It seemed a little too true to life, haha. Both of those shows are coed too so we can really get a better gauge of how the participants interact with both sexes unless they keep the male and female idols totally separate from each other.
  18. This is why them blatantly ignoring each other whenever a camera was pointed in their direction during this time was so suspicious and we had that whole discussion about them. Add the paper roll messages and the way they talk about each other, on top of their other moments, and...
  19. Well I didn't die or lose my house in the hurricane, but have been without power for almost a week (even though the rest of the block got theirs back two days ago). There can be no doubt that they are together now unless Jonghyun got the other three Cartier for their birthdays too. Key's comment is so blatant too. Don't sleep on my babies, they continuously serve it up.
  20. While trying to distract myself from the impending hurricane strike, came across this: Wow and Jason, particularly at 4:24 Then trying to act like touching lips was so trying for them
  21. ... and JR is usually never amused and plays up like Aron's his love rival.
  22. I feel the same way, that they had something going on a while back, but I'm not sure now, because they aren't as all over each other as they were, but at the same time they are still really close and get along well so who knows what was actually going on. It has always seemed to me though that JR was more into Ren than the opposite, and he's the one usually initiating any of their questionable moments. We'll see when they have their comeback and start promoting again what we'll get. This is why I started to suspect Jihoon too. He acts so uptight and nervous all the time when he doesn't really need to. I also find it interesting in retrospect that despite how popular he was, he was not very prominent in the show and didn't show a lot of different sides to himself. I really only remembered him because he was always in the Top 11. Now watching him act basically the same way in the group it seems like he purposely tries to fly under the radar. The other thing that makes me go "hmmm" with him is how he promotes his "cute" image. Granted most idol persona's are performance but the cute thing seems so calculated and self-ascribed it feels like it's a cover. The way he dresses, the catchphrases, etc. all seem designed to make the audience find him adorable and not necessarily attractive in a sexual way. It doesn't really mean anything it just stuck out to me as peculiar.
  23. My whole point was that in those two clips it is actually not clear who is making eye contact with who, what their reactions are, or what they are even reacting to. They are also so brief, that odds are they probably were just coincidental/unintentional and don't mean anything. In general, people show their attention and engagement with a conversation by looking at/towards the person speaking. In the first clip Ongniel just happened to be on either side of the person speaking (so Ong is looking in Daniel's general direction, and Jisung is looking towards those three). Same with the second clip where Ong is looking towards Minhyun (who is next to Daniel) and Jisung is just looking towards Ong's direction but could be looking past him or at nothing particular at all. I never said they are just two straight bros, and I don't have firm opinions on them because I didn't pay attention to them like that during PD101 and the stuff that gets posted here is so subtle and lowkey, it comes off as just how they naturally are and not like they are going out of their way to hide their feelings, or being possesive, or whatever. I'm very good at picking up cues from body language and love analyzing nonverbal communication, but those two examples aren't really saying anything at all about their relationship.
  24. In #2, Ong is clearly looking at Jaewhan (because he's talking and they're in an interview), Daniel just moved his arm, and Jisung (also looking at Jaewhan and not Ongniel) is reacting to whatever Jaehwan said or Daniel chuckling to himself. I also don't see any real reaction other than them trying to keep it together and get through that ridiculous beer interview in #3. I don't feel like those two do anything that suspicious and a lot of the receipts on them are very circumstancial.
  25. This is what I was going to say, that there is a difference between pushing a ship and using it as an example of suspect interations. The way you view Vernon and Seungkwan is how I view Jaehyun/Taeyong and JR/Ren, that they are pretty indicative at least on Taeyong and JR's parts respectively. And it's true that dating within a group would create a lot of problems. But I'm sure we all know people (or have been that person ourselves), who dive into dead on arrival relationships not forseeing or ignoring the possible negative consequences. Like people bring up Daewhi and Jinyoung as probably not involved because they are in a trending group and it's too big of a risk, etc. But they are also 16/17, and at that age don't really think that far ahead about all the possible ramifications. Meanwhile, someone like Jisung who is older and their window of opportunity in the idol world is limited, would be more likely to think like that and not pursue anything. Sidenote: Can't people who aren't interested in certain groups or topics just bring up something that they're more interested in?
